I love this place. The food is too much tasty. They also surve khir that is also good. This place is not too much costly but too much inside .Pahalwan vaishno dhaba is too much popular for their taste. Good for going out with friends
Pahalwan vaishno dhaba is a very nice and good restaurant for food. The quality of complete food item is very good and high standard. Food is very hygienic. Very very nice place for food for families and individuals.
Shahi paneer. Here the beauty is the paneer well mixed in gravy which gives a wonderful taste. The thickness of the gravy is outstanding. Well served with onions and green chutney
Its an age old dhaba/restaurant in azadpur. The daal is cooked for a large vessel for 7-8 hour. Everything we tried seemed home cooked with bare minimum masalas and namak. The daal is surely a delight, you can try the missi roti to go along with it. The raita and kheer are served chilled and go along very well.Paneer, chaap and chole are very nice
For the most amazing Dal Makhni (both plain and tadka), this is the place to be.. Other happening delicacies include Chole Masala and Palak Paneer
I just love this place for what it serves.
One of the best Dal Makhni’s, try it and you wont regret it. A very different yet super yummy and my most favourite Shahi Paneer. Their Chana Masala, Malai Kofta, Kadi, Naans, Rotis everything is just so amazing. This place is generally crowded all the times but Must Try for all. I am waiting for them to start online delivery.
Chana masala is owsm bilkul ghar jesa taste full paisa wasool hai or chaap bhi thk thi Par Thodi spicy thi Wase Sab thk hai Ab Kisi din dal.
Lunch at Pahalwan Dhaba – Adarsh Nagar
Dhaba food is what excites me and my taste buds to the core.
For all Dhaba lovers who go to Murthal, a visit to this Dhaba will not only save you the fuel cost of going towards Murthal for Dhaba food but also your taste buds will thank you for treating them with one of the finest taste of vegetarian dishes which is levels up from the food dished out at Murthal Dhabas.
Since we were in a group we ordered Palak Paneer Dal Tadka Kadhi Chana Masala Saag Raita Shahi Paneer and the breads which included Aloo Nan and Missi roti
Pics say it all !!
Aloo Nan - Is the finest that you will get in Delhi and is best enjoyed when you eat without having a dip in any gravy…Outstanding
Palak Paneer - For all the Palak lovers this dish is a heavenly fish…. A complete winner for the day just one look at the dish and you will fall in love with it.
Tasted divine.
Chana Masala - Being a Punjabi Chana masala is one item that I swear by as will most of the Punjabis and this was again one of the finest Chana masala I have eaten outside my home. Loved it.
Kadhi Pakora and Saag too were delicious and loved by all..
While eating all this I was constantly watching a huge copper vessel (See Pic) which must be weighing about 40 kgs and I could see the employees of the Dhaba taking turns to stir what was inside their hot selling DAL MAKHANI which is available only in the evenings and apparently has a huge fan following.
Apparently it is stirred continuously for upto 7 hours non stop.
Delightful Lunch
This place has a history of more than 50 year old. The food here is very tasty but I think it is one time visit. Since I have been to chandigarh for so long... I find the food very normal. The place has a good ambience in comparison to other dhabas. The service was outstanding. The best part about this place is the cash counter, they have kept a small tray of Gur and saunf which looks very welcoming and interesting.
Had been there so many times. Great food and clean atmosphere. Sometimes we need to wait for our food because of long queues for takeaway food but it’s worth the wait.
Cant beat flavor of their Dal makhani ..
A must try.
Also serves other variety like choley masala, shahi paneer , kofta etc.
Gives a real feel of authentic dhaba food.
This place is amazing for those who are looking for authentic flavours and taste. The Dal, matar panned, raita, kheer; everything is so amazing that you will fall in love with the food and will die to come here every time you wish to seek authentic food.
An old world charm in the place. Have been eating here since childhood, taste remains the same while the dishes are not as spicy as they used to be then. All of their dishes taste quite exceptional since they are cooked in dalda ghee. In winters one can see the dalda ghee solidifying around the edges of dish.
The large bits of tomato in dal make it juicier! The gravy for Malai kofta and shahi paneer is the same and has an unusually good taste. My Favorites are Kaali Daal, Malai Kofta , Channa Masala and Aaloo Gobhi(tempered with generous amount of ajwain). One can go for Missi Roti if dining in else it becomes soggy when packed.
If you're dining in then be patient since their service is pathetic and quantity given in dine in doesn't justifies the cost. So get your items packed.
Awesome food, never had such taste any where else. Zomato should definitely approach them for home deliveries. paneer butter masala is legendary
Best place for affordable dinner. Dal makhni is the best. The food delivered is fresh and tasty. On time delivery. Must try it once as it is good when you want to eat tasty food at affordable prices
it's dal makhani is on my top list.. awesome..and on budget,,i was eating their dal makhni since i was a kid,, it's so delicious and easy on ur pocket too, must try.
I am rating this place a 4 because it's the best daal makhani you can find in delhi.Visited this place many many times.Everytime satisfied with taste. The owner is very nice.Only thing i am dissatisfied is with the service here.PLEASE VISIT THIS PLACE ONCE.😍
This is a legendary dhaba which always remains on my go to list whenever I crave for Dal Makhani. The Dal Makhani they serve which is only available during dinner hours, is easily on of the best in Delhi. The Shahi Paneer isn't bad either and to accompany these with their tandoori paneer paranthas makes for the best North Indian food you'll ever have. The premises are ofcourse not very clean or attractive and the service is generally slow due to the huge number of packing orders. Nonetheless this place must be visited atleast once to experience what actual North food tastes like!
Pahalwan vaishno dhaba is one of a kind in this neighborhood.they offer tanduri roti and daal makhni is great.actually they are quite famous for it.you can also get your food packed.
Old is still out of fashion it still
Holds value in satisfying our hunger in belly 😋. Dal makhani is must try along with very authentic taste of pindi Channa with butter naan.
Very old dhaba or restaurant in adarsh nagar ..it is famous for its authentic dal makhani ..basically they make dal in a big brass utensil ..taste was amazing..
Service-4/5
Food-4/5
Hygiene-3/5
Overall-4/5
Location- Get off Azadpur metro station, and turn on Google maps. There is no easy way to find this place.
Once you manage to find it, you are greeted with very dhabish type of ambience that's reassuring if you are in for the same.
The food is crazy inexpensive here. We ordered aloo, paneer parantha, half plate each dal makhni and chana masala.
Quantity served is decent enough for two. The taste is just amazing. Loved the paranthas especially.
The taste makes us consider if they have some sort of connection to Murthal wala Pahalwan. Doubts apart, this is a very amazing place for some delicious food at very inexpensive rates.
Paaji strongly recommends it.

One of the best Dal Makhni in the town.
They prepare it for full day in Brass utensils.
All there items are worth tasting.
Malai Kofta is great as well.
I was coming back from my warehouse in North Delhi's Burari area and want to satisfy my cravings for a good dal tadka. I was alone and we open to try a new Dhaba, more so as I had heard a lot about this one in a few Facebook food groups.
I opened up Google maps and kept following it, inside
narrow colony lanes of majlis Park very close to the Azadpur sabzi mandi where this Dhaba is located. It's a corner shop and had a huge seating area. I was lucky to fund a parking spot just outside the Dhaba, which otherwise would have been a task. The nearest metro station is Adarsh Nagar and is ideal to reach here.
I ordered a dal tadka along with laccha parantha and believe me this was one of the finest dal with little peices of ginger and tomato in the Dal and I have certainly not had such a crisp parantha in Delhi. It was a enjoyable meal and most certainly a very pocket friendly one too.
For a Dhaba their seating was great and I would give them extra credit for keeping it very neat and clean. Make sure you reach by 3 PM for lunch coz they close by 3:15.
The place is well kept, but is a small welcome gate. If it was not our starving ,we would have never visited here . However ,the food was good and prices cheap . At time we tends to find some tasty food in places we don't expect we would.
Let's Keep it short.
Just stop whatever you are doing and go for the best desi food made with simplest of spices.
Absolutely delicious in every way.

I never ever give 4.5 rating easily to anyone..... But this place made my day with delicious mains.
We were 5 friends
I hate Kadi and palak paneer....i never eat them anywhere....
They ordered 1 full plate each kadi and Palak along with 1 dal makhni and Aloo kofta....
4 mains and paranthas and besni missi roti.
As Soon as the mains arrived on table... they I tasted Aloo kofta..... It was do damn yummy, just out of this world......a Kofta with khade masale and dal+besan batter with red korma Style gravy topped with a piece of potato boiled with spices.
Than I tasted Dahl makhni...... It was so very simple like Home made maaki dal with mildly spiced flavors without onion/garlic... Still it was yummyluscious...
Than friends forced me to taste kadi and palak... I simply Denied that's not my cup of tea... But I somehow tasted it and kadi pakoda was just awesome.... It was the same kofta used in the aloo kofta ....... Great texture... Great taste....(kadi they only make on Sunday and Tuesday) than moved to palak with high expectations as I found kadi the yummiest ever I tasted..
Palak paneer was one of the best palak I have ever tasted....
We finished all 4 Mains before just coming the breads on table... We ordered 4 more (full)... and than 4 More but in half quantity and again 2 more half of Aloo kofta and kadi..
Breads were perfected baked...
Than kheer Was not upto the mark but it was okay.... Food is something not to miss here... no soup no starters... Just the main course.....
Will visit soon on Sunday
Best Dal Makhni ever and also try the chawal ki kheer. Though the taste sometime can be slightly off given huge delivery pressure but nonetheless it's worth coming here and trying the daal . Still something we order almost every time some guest visit of we want to eat dal makhni from outside
Boss its a pure veg dhaba just like any other roadside dhaba. But its in the middle of the city, opp to azadpur vegie market so its food really taste awesome. Go there without expectations of ambience or good cutlery. Just go there to enjoy food. Daal makhani is just too good rather THE BEST, with chunks of ginger and tomato. The best and crispier lachha parantha and tandoori roti. One can't resist or forget this taste. Other things to be tried are shahi paneer, kadhi pakora, kheer. I am loving this dhaba since more than 20 years. Now the third generation of the family is running the outlet.
This is an old Dhaba situated in the streets of Adarsh Nagar just opposite to the vast Azadpur fruits and vegetables market. They serve Chana dal along with other curries in the afternoon and if you want to taste their Dal Makhani which can beat any Dal Makhani in this world, then you'll have to visit this place for dinner. Since its a Dhaba, the ambience and service might not meet your expectations but the taste of the food would do it for you. The prices at which they offer food would force you to get your eyes checked! Not to be missed.
Ambience - 2/5
Food - 5/5
Service - 3/5
GREAT DESI VAISHNO DHABA

13/09/2015 :-
Best dal makhani ever tasted and paranthas with homemade butter are to die for here with special lassi.... typical dhaba type ambience but very neat n clean
This dhaba is like the soul if this area. Serves fresh food but Take away quantities are more than the ones served in dhabba...they should increase their serving size..
M eating pehenwal dhabba food since i was 8. Not much of the things have changed there specially the happy owner's face sitting with a bunch of colored tokens and saunf(sugar coated fenugreek) along with mishri(bigger chunks of sugar). Same huge copper vessels and most of the staff is old and known..so in all its a nice place to visit.
Have little money, hungry and stuck in Azadpur? Visit this place.
Great vegetarian food.
The Daal is beautiful. And the service is quick. Very desi kind of a restaurant.
Just that you will have hard time differentiating between some of the gravy of the dishes. Some taste the same.
Kills your hunger, nevertheless.
GET YOUR DAAL PACKED.
That's the only thing I'll say, because their daal is seriously amazing. Proper dhaba type preparation and the taste is really great. Been eating here since childhood. But don't find any of the other stuff that good, just the daal. Too much spice and masala basically.
You'll love the daal definitely but the employees are not at all courteous or even give a single penny of respect. Also be there in time, around 7, cuz no matter what day, there is always a rush!
Dal makhani is very very good but they need to improve their staff behaviour and place is not so hygienic the staff is very very bad ......????????
A Desi dhaba operational in the middle of a residential area since decades!
Pahalwan Dhaba is famous for its daal makhni and that was the reason we headed here on a sunny afternoon! The sitting is totally dhaba type and so are the guys preparing the food.
Food-
Daal Makhni- Cooked over night, smells of purity, topped with half a chunk of butter, the onion and the natural tanginess of the tomato give it a perfect 10/10!
Chana Masala- When in Rome, eat like a Roman. The reason we ordered a Chana masala! You cannot expect to get a great Mix Veg or a mind blowing Shahi Paneer, that's just not their forte, our decision to order Chana masala paid off well! Spicy, heavy chunks of oversized Chana, these will woo your taste buds to have more!
Tandoori Roti- What better option than a Hot, fresh n crispy Tandoori roti to dip in the sumptous Daal! The tandoor is more like a Hatti here!
Kheer- Another speciality recommended by a friend! We dont do deserts in Restaurants, but had to give it a try after all the good things! The small rice and the extra sweet kheer completed the meal on a sweet note! Dry fruit chunks in between made it all the more tasty!
This is a must visit if you are fond of No-nonsense tasty and fresh North Indian Food!
My rating- 9/10*****
Been eating this place since I took birth. Since I lived in Adarsh nagar. My family is crazy about this place. It makes us all nostalgic. Whoever passes azadpur from my family makes sure that he gets the dal packed from this place whether it is chane ki dal or dal makhani. The dal makhani is very authentic and amazing. Full of the taste of ginger and tomato and cinnamon. It quite amazing how the taste is same for the last 20 years. They need to work on the Shahi paneer and this place would be perfect.
The taste that this place offer makes this so crammed up space a small little paradise especially for vegetarians.
DAL MAKHANI - a must have. Very authentic dhaba kind of preparation.
YELLOW DAL (available during the day only) - nice. a very homely kind of preparation.
PALAK PANEER - a mix of dhaba and home type preparation.
I have had his dal makhni so many times that even by taste i can tell thats its from pahalwan dhaba. Dal makhni and matar paneer are the two signature dishes. Ambience is just ok . Food is good and pocket friendly.
Well..If you want to have the best Dal Makhni and Good Shahi paneet near Model town,Shalimar Bagh and Azadpur area, This place rocks!
But the line for take away is too long and sometimes irritating else a nice place!
How good is the food . The lane is named " pahalwan wali galli now " . The place as the name suggest serves only veg food . 5 years back when i was on a high protein diet some one dragged me to this place for lunch saying . Protien shrotien se kuch nahi hota , asli takat desi ghee main hai " i am sure people going to gym have heard it many times . I was not sure of the food at this place but then it was amazing . it ruined my diet for 3 days but the kadai , the dal tadka , the missi ki roti and the firni is a must try at this place .
Best Dal Makhani in town
though u cant sit and eat but its best for takeaway
Chana masala is another best delicacy of pehalwan dhaba
well have been going at this place since childhood. Nobody else can do justice to Dal Makhni than Pehalwan Dhaba...Its yummy spicy with a buttery flavour...
Chana masala is something one should try..But what fascinates is the Palak paneer with paneer Naan!! The taste is amazing and yumm.. made in a very traditional way.
they also serve shahi paneer and malai kofta with a similiar gravy still it tastes good.
With a small Menu and a very old kind of ambience this place still lacks family crowd but Best for take away...
Also one must not miss the KHEER...
It's basically a dhaba..and it's special attractions are it's mouth-watering dal makhani and chana masala. A taste you'll never forget. Best for take aways.
Had yellow dal, Shahi paneer with roti. The dal is good, the rest is ok. Not a very good ambience though the AC works
Its a really old eatery which is famous for its Maa ki dal, which simmered for hours giving it a rich creamy texture and excellent taste even with very less butter. If you visit, you absolutely must try it along with kheer, which is also excellent.
Since it's an old joint, the ambiance is not really hip and happening but the food more than makes for it. It is also easy on the pocket.,so that's a big plus.
Pahalwan Vaishno Dhaba is in Adarsh Nagar area and people from the area up to Azadpur Model Town Gujranwala Town Shalimar Bagh Jahangirpuri get food from here and come here to eat food. The best feature of this place is that the food here is fresh and good. There is a seating arrangement here and the way to reach here is also very easy and because of the large roads here we can also set up parking here. Pahalwan Vaishno Dhabas owner is a good person and The cooks and staff here follow very good discipline and hygiene food serve the customers here.
Food quality is okk as per rate. Location is good.

An amazing dhaba, a very old and renowned place Pehalwan ka dhaba, This is one of the most famous dhaba, they are popular for their Dal Malhani which they cooks for 24 hours on Charcoal, their other vegetables are good and gave great taste like 👍 Allo kofta, Palak Paneer, Paneer dishes, soya chap, raita, salad and so many things in veg. their breads are pure wheat made, missi roti is the best they have. I have tried places for missi roti. they give a special taste to it.
If you are at a near place, this is the best dhaba to visit and take food. cheers.
I am visiting this place since 20 yrs, preferably for the dal, it is yummmiest Dal makhani.
roti, Naan , Paratha size is not worth according to price , too small in size, if they increase their size it will be eligible for rating 5* from all for sure,
and salad too should be complimentary which they charge for the same as it is just a few pcs of tomato cucumber and onion, from rest dhabha n all we get it free
The place's food is very nice but the place can get crowded because of their famous dal makhni you can go with a car just park it in front of the dhaba and you are good
Tasty food at resonable price . If u love home made type of food or can say punjabi food then try this fantastic place. They serve mouth watering dishes at low prices. The only draw back is the sitting ...they put old wooden benches for sitting uncomfortable &ugly looking
Best Dal makhni in delhi , kheer is just so so , Raita is one of the best I have eaten .Menu for your reference . Not to forget , try Missi roti I have never eaten roti that taste
The makhni dal which is made only in evening that too available only for an hour is the best. My dad use to have it in his childhood and we are also having it since our childhood. it is consistent in its taste, still taste delicious. people from other areas also visit just to have this dal.
other dishes are equivalently nice .
the place has nice ambiance and is hygienic.
Amazing place for foodie as each and every items are authentic to best of the flavors. The best is black Dal , palak paneer , laccha paratha. We make it a point to eat whenever we come to Delhi as it's our favorite.
The best part is that u feel satisfied and that u feel the search for wow good ends here.
Trust me it's just amazing.
The food quality is above then decent but specially the dal makhni is 😘 over the top class, lovet that.
But need sum decency in hygiene.
One of the Old Family Dhabha cum restaurant suitated in Adarsh Nagar.
Easily accessable from the Adarsh Nagar Metro station.if we talk about food. The food is good but not like what they used to server earlier. Quantity has been also reduced.
They should take care of the quantity as per their rated.
No tension quality food served here with all types of Indian dishes. Try the chawal keer which you won't get normally in restaurants and tastes just like home.
Yellow dal during the day and Dal makhni in evening are everyone's favorite.
