Hotel Malabar is one of my favourite restaurants to grab a lip smacking south indian cuisine. Located in the NFC locality ,its little tricky to locate this restaurant as it lies deep in streets. The restaurant has a calm ambiance and a clean surrounding. The restuarant is small and can get crowded during busy hours. When it comes to food ,they serve the best south indian food with soulful taste and delicacy. I have ordered egg curry, parotta, appam and coffee, the egg curry is made with perfection and it taste like the home made delicacy. Its my best place to go and grab lunch for a light & yummy lunch. Last but not the least, they serve very yummy coffee at a very reasonable cost. Coffee lovers should taste their dish for sure. The service is pretty fast. Over all it was a good experience.

Good food at reasonable prices.
Relished their Chicken Fry last evening itself and absolutely loved it.
Their stew, Chettinad and chicken roast paired with Appams and/or Malabar Parathas are good too!
Looking forward to sampling their biryani next!

Malabar in sarai jullena has always been one of my favorite spot to hop in. The chicken chettinad and malabar special chicken is a must try in curries. It also shares a special veg thali with different types of rice served on different days. Good ambience and clean water. The malabar special chicken biryaani is also a must try here. Healthy and Home cooked malyali food.

Perfect spot to find south indian food in Delhi. And I must mention it's very economical too. The chicken biryani is just a class apart than everything found in Delhi. The thali is a typical South Indian presentation of spices, rice and vegetables. Let the map guide you there. The crisp fried curry leaves with the chicken and the mackerel fry are also good side dishes. The staff is courteous.

If you crave authentic non vegetarian Kerala food this is place is a definite must try. Situated in the interiors of new friends colony this place a little difficult to find but the it's worth the search. Talking about the food their chicken biriyani is pure joy! porottas are super soft and should be tried with chicken roast or Malabar chicken both of which are classic spicy curries. Chicken 65 and kappa biriyani are other dishes which I found tasty. The best thing about this place is how affordable it is. The place is quite hygienic. Staff is friendly. Must try👌

Malabar is a favorite for all who love to have authentic and tasty Kerala food. It has options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people. Their midday meal is a u sure shot hit for those who want a wholesome meal. It is a typical unlimited rice thali, with the trademark red rice and sambar, moru or curd based curry, side dish of a couple of veggies and pickle and papad.
One can also sample the Malabar parotta and mix it with chicken curry or chicken roast. One could also go with the appam and chicken stew or kadala curry (black chole).
The biryanis are also very sumptuous and filling.
It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the traffic near the Escorts Heart Hospital.

We ordered egg curry and chicken biryani as we had heard great reviews....
The egg curry was delish and the curry had a distinct spicy tangy flavour which I loved
The chicken in biryani was slightly dry however the masalas were great and tasted awesome with curry from egg curry. They also provided raita with it and a papadam.
All in all a good experience we enjoyed our dinner.

This restaurant was on my wish list since a long time. Today finally I did go there . The food I must say is delicious but nothing sorta u get in South Indian canteen across city. They make one of the best Kerala biryani. The Malabar parota and Malabar chicken curry was to die for. Though chicken 65 was not upto the mark. But overall meal was delicious. & yes the service was quite good. The person sitting on the counter was very courteous. Overall a good food reasonable restaurant with not a good place to sit. The place was clumsy but whenever I am there around I am going to order from them.👌🏻

BEST SOUTH INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD!!!
Beef fry better than what kerela house canteen serves.

Food for 2 @ Rs. 330/- only
Kerela Chicken Biryani x1
Parotta x3
Beef Fry x 1
Cold drink 500ml x1

It's a small in-house eatery, buzzing with people all the time. Might be a difficult to locate in the bylanes of Saraii Julenna, but totally worth the effort.

Also, the staff is polite and very prompt.
Can't wait to go back again. :D

Had got the food delivered. CB- Chicken biriyani , Chicken fry and pazham pori-Banana Fry.
The biriyani was well cooked, well flavoured and was exceptionally tasty. The taste reminded me of the original malabari biryani from the district of calicut, kerala, from where the malabari biriyani dish has originated from. Chicken fry was above average. Banana fry was very well made, with very good consistency of the banana as well the outer covering, with good blend between the two. Before completing the first dish, i reordered biriyani for my wife/ aswell as for myself:-)

1. Chicken biryani : the best chicken biryani ive had till date. Very good in taste, served with some awesome raita.
2. Chicken curry : something very different from the mainstream chicken currys. It is prepared in coconut milk.
3. Malabar parantha: Went very well, with the curry
4. Coffee: Amaazing!!! Simply loved it.

Overall a pocket friendly place. A place for people who like to variate with their taste.

If you are a Keralite and a fan of coastal Kerala food , do try this outlet in Sarai Julena near NFC . Your craving for kappa meen ( fish curry n tapioca) will get satisfied. I tried this dish but they also have a variety of other typical Kerala Malabar food to try your hands on. Best for spicy non veg lovers , Cost effective. When you order a thali or rice n curry they replenish it mostly without additional cost .

A budget friendly Kerala Food Joint in South Delhi. Place was a bit difficult to locate since it was situated a little inside from main road(but ask anyone out there and they will guide you). We had tried Chicken Chettinad, Porotta, Veg stew and Appam. Each of these dishes were very delicious and served in good quantity. Don't expect the exact taste of Kerala but still its worth a try if you are craving for good South Indian food. Would love to visit again.

This is one of the best places I have come across in Delhi. Built in a corner of New Friends Colony, it is not easily locatable. But once you reach the restaurant, you will be coming back for more.
We had two plates Malabari biryani, a plate of chicken roast and a plate of Chettinad chicken. These dishes were, literally, the best thing I had tasted. The biryani has a generous amount of rice coated with all the goodness of the chicken. The chicken items were just phenomenal. The Chettinad chicken was creamy and spicy, with just a hint of the coconut used. It wasn't overpowering at all. The Chicken Roast was a little sour and quite spicy, which was absolutely lip smacking. And the bill amounted to just 600 bucks, including a bottle of coke. Also, the place is very hygienic and they serve boiled water. A little South India tucked in Delhi for sure.
I will keep visiting this place. No doubts whatsoever.

Authentic south Indian food.We had actually order for a delivery.Very neatly packed food was delivered to our place well before time.Food was accompanied with all the peripherals like spoon, plates and tissues.
The food was warm.good quality and could easily serve more people than what was ordered for.Although the food was a bit spicy for the North Indian palate but of our liking. We had ordered for both the chicken and veg biriyani. The mutton korma and mutter mushroom not in the menu was given on our request. We would surely order in future. Super like from us.

Owing to its close proximity to our college's residential complex, I have been eating here for almost 5 years now. A small outlet that has fed me delicious, clean and healthy food for so long, I felt that I owe it one review :)

Though there have always been minor variations in taste when cooks change, the quality of food has been consistently good. Appams or porottas with curries are always a good choice, along with the Meals (unlimited refills) that they serve. The biryani is another favourite of mine. The Chicken Chettinad is worth the wait - takes a long time to prepare but is always satisfying!
I regret never having been able to eat the puttu here as they make it only in the mornings.
Do end your meal with a hot coffee!

The staff is always polite and humble. They are quick to suggest good alternatives to dishes which might be unavailable at that time due to any reason.

Do not expect a five-star ambience or upholstered seating. Go there for the food and eat to your heart's content.
Did I forget to mention that it is super easy on the pocket? :)

Delicious appetising south indian goodness ! Being a non veg lover, I wanted to try out the south indian take , and Hotel Malabar didn't disappoint. They didn't have mutton, so we ordered a very spicy fish curry, and the Malabari special chicken, Malabari Paranthas and rice.I'm giving it a 4 only because the chicken pieces weren't the best.. which is fine considering the amount you're paying. For the price, it's a steal, I won't even mention the ambience, because the food itself warrants the price.Definitely going for a second round.

FINALLLYYY!!!
KERALA FOOD!!
Alright kids this all began when I went to hyderabad few years back and was introduced to Kerala food for the first time , that to in Hyderabad!
Anyways I enjoyed those soft cushy mushy Appams , that spicy chicken dishes and ohh those fish curries were fantastic.
Now being a delhite I searched for Kerala food but always tasted failure and finally thanks to you foodies out there and your reviews found this hotel malabar tucked inside a narrow gali just opposite escorts hospital, boy it was fantastic.
Place was cool and to surprise very clean. So I ordered chicken 65 , appams and parrotas with coffee as well. I know 65 is chennai and not Kerala food but I lobe the way they cook. Appams were slight cold but tasted fantastic , 65 was brilliant and the most I liked was parrotas!!
I am definitely going again in this week and try to run through menu as I wana try EVERYTHING!!
Guys go and line up because is worth all you money!!

This is one small place which has come to hold a very special place in my heart because of its delectable Malabari cuisine. A far cry from the conventional South Indian places in North India which serve only vegetarian food, this place actually serves some of the best and spiciest non-vegetarian food that I have ever had. I was accompanied by my friend who happens to be a mallu which was helpful because then I knew what to order. On the three occasions that i have been here I had ordered porotta, appam, beef fry, beef chilly, kappa, fish curry and prawn biriyani. Although the food is very tasty they are inconsistent in that the beef fry was a little burnt the first time but deliciously made the second time. Again, the taste of the fish curry varied. Overall, it is a good place to visit for your fill of spicy Malabar style seafood but it is a pity that they don't serve crabs. The ambience is homely and the prices economical. Do ask them for the beef food options because they have been removed from the menu after the ban.

Visiting Malabar was a completely spur-of-the-moment decision, when four of us had planned to watch a play but unfortunately couldn't get tickets. The others had all been there before and swore by the food, so I was naturally excited to try it out.
The restaurant is located in a tiny, dingy alley that might deter the less stalwart, but don't worry - it's absolutely safe. It's a tiny, spartan affair and finding a seat might be a bit tricky at first. We got a table fairly soon, though. Our order was pretty huge, as my companions couldn't stop raving about how cheap the food is. We took two plates of beef fry, a chicken chettinad, four paranthas, ten appams, a fried fish, prawn biriyani and egg curry.
The food arrived within ten minutes. My first bite into the parantha wrapped chicken and I was floored. It was simply delicious. The parantha is one of the best I've ever tasted - crispy, flavourful and not too oily. The chicken was mildly spiced and had a lovely gravy. I don't usually eat beef, but even I helped myself liberally to the beef fry. I couldn't try the eggs or fish, as I am sensitive to both, but my friends were quite happy with them. We gorged without remorse, and all for the astonishing price of 850 rupees. If that's not a bargain I'd like to know what is.
I've never had Kerala cuisine before, but I am definitely returning to this place. Agnik himself loves it, so there are huge chances of another visit soon. Foodies, if you enjoy budget Indian meals, this is one place that is worth every penny you pay. Go ahead, make that trip.

This place has been in my radar for ages, finally managed to visit them yesterday. It’s a no nonsense, basic, clean with simplistic décor located in the by-lanes opposite escorts hospital.
We visited around lunch time and surprising the place had just two table occupied probably by hospital staff. We ordered their specials to be safe – chicken biryani and Malabar chicken curry.
Biryani was fabulous, not like the biryani we have in north India but chicken cooked and rice added. Didn’t get to many flavours but the chicken along with Egg with thick paste itself was so mouth filling, yummy and well cooked. The pieces are optimum and juicy.
Equally good was the chicken curry; had it along with appam.
Both the dishes where fabulous and well made. Both of the dishes are value for money and generous in helping.
Will love to visit them again for sure.

When you are in search for some good malabari cuisine (or South Indian) this place is it! In search of a place to eat near my work place I found this hidden treasure via zomato. I was alone so just ordered the spl. Malabari chicken biryani and I was happy (that's a lot to say since it's very hard to please my taste buds). A must visit, but don't loose focus when you are trying to locate this food joint because trust me the end result will be good. And if you are lucky and live nearby just order it. And this place was pretty hygienic (if you compare it to Kerala hotel in INA where I walked out before even ordering my food). Happy eating.

Go to Hotel Malabar fully expecting a cheap, no frills, almost home run establishment and you won't be disappointed. Nestled in the by lanes of Sarai Jullena, the place is a definite must-try. If you're going for the beef, look for the suspicious looking malayali items at end of the menu. Everything else is pretty obvious. The food is great and extremely cheap. I would recommend the beef fry and the chicken 65. Both are extremely well done and fairly well presented. I've also sampled the tomato fry, appams, parottas, karimeen and the kaddala curry and can say with all the honesty of someone who has travelled to the interior regions of Kerala that they're fairly true to their roots. All in all, this is a no regrets restaurant, you'd spend lesser than you would at a McDonald's and so much happier for it.

Extremely spicy and yummy . Best part of the deal is value for money . Their delivery service is prompt and quick too . Do try it for a home delivery and you wont be disappointed .

Going to NFC for Shwarma is history now. Thanks to my boss who got me to this place. First things first: Its not that easy to locate so finding it is quite a task. We went for lunch on a weekday and the place wasn't packed. Its surprisingly neat and well done. The beef curry is amazing and juicy beef chunks maintain their taste. Beef fry is a must have but, what I absolutely loved was the fish curry. Its done in tamarind gravy and makes a perfect combo with rice. Another thing worth a try is Chicken Masala and Chicken Fry! The portions are sufficient and the prices are appropriate. We paid 570 bucks for two people and got a chicken curry and parota for takeaway! Its authentic Kerala Food and this restaurant is surely a hidden gem! I'm definitely going back! Cheers :D

I had to pick up couple of stretched canvases/paintings from my fine art dealer in New Friends Colony. The meeting lasted for more than an hour and it was lunch time.

So, I decided to visit Malabar Hotel in the near vicinity and pack few items. Malabar Hotel is not easy to find. The directions are these. If you take the road which leads to New Friends Colony Community Centre from Escorts Hospital, You will find Shri Ram Medical Store on the left. Take the first left from there and as ask any shopkeeper for direction. From the main road it is 5-10 minutes walk.

I was surprised to find that this restaurant was clean and compact. There is seating for around 24 people. Since mine was a takeaway order, it took about 10-15 minutes to pack the food. I ordered 2 appams (medium size), One beef fry, one chicken curry and one fish fry (King fish). The beef fry was good and so were the other dishes. This joint is definitely better than their counterparts in INA market. Do visit if you happen to be in this area.

I also noticed (while waiting) that lot of the customers were opting for biryani. Actually the whole restaurant was smelling of Malabari biryani.

And that is what I am going to order next time!

I decided to eat lunch at the NFC market but wanted to try a new place so found Hotel Malabar on zomato and used maps to find out where this place was. It's in the by lanes of sarai juliena. While walking upto the restaurant, the thought of turning back is likely to enter your mind.

Once you have made your way through the narrow streets, the restaurant turns out to be better than expected. Its very simple and basic but is clean and cool and thankfully without the ubiquitous flies. The service is slowish but friendly.

I ordered the following:
1) Chicken 65: I didn't like this much. Wasn't boneless and felt I but dry and chewy.

2) Special chicken biryani: I really enjoyed this. It was served with sambar, raita, papad and aachar. The chicken was soft and both the chicken and rice was packed with flavour.

Overall I would highly recommend home delivery from hotel malabar and I am sure to eat from here again. The taste was great and the prices are pretty economical. I can't wait to try the chicken stew and appam.

May be that is bit because of regional bias but being honest I am not going to give it less than 3.5 out of 5 anyday. The location takes away the 0.5 out of it. It is located in somewhat non descript lane in residential area. Nevertheless the owner of this hotel has crafted a good ambience. Although small and without any parking space this place is heaven for those who want to try Keralite food.
I tried Prawn fry. It tasted good but amount was very less owing to what it is costed at. Kerala biryani tastes nice although those not used to spices would find it causing hiccups. Unlike North Indian Biryana most famously being Moradabadi biryani the mutton/beef in this biryani looks rich in moisture and is less oily, the texture of rice being almost same; predominantly white in color unlike orange color of Delhi Biryani. I haven't tried much of menu as of now but plan to make another visit there for Chiken Chittinar and Porota for it which is famous.
I would rate this place as pocket friendly. Overall service is satisfactory. Remember good food makes forget burden on brain.

I am a Malayali so maybe I am a bit biased here, but this small little place is actually a heaven for Keralites living in Delhi. Although it's not like the dishes you get in Kerala, but to get such inexpensive authentic Kerala dishes in Delhi is something to crave about. I ordered the usual Porotta and beef fry. The beef was succulent and mixed in the delectable of South Indian spices. The Porotta was also soft and fluffy. To top it off, I had tea as we traditionally do it in Kerala . The best part of the place as compared to other budget Kerala restaurants was the hygiene. The INA Kerala Hotel is way dirty to eat. Compared to that, this place serves decently hygienic food and the taste is also great.

I need to gorge into other delicacies for a complete review but what I have eaten till now satisfies my craving for the time being.

Delectable Malayali treat tucked away in a small, somewhat difficult to find corner close to NFC market. Two of us savoured THE most authentic taste of delicacies from Kerala for 300 bucks (included one starter, two curries, and 6 appams). This place was a gem of a find, and finds its place straight into our regular visiting spots. Fish curries and appams are to die for, and so are their beef dishes. They are a small, no-frills, low-key diner in Sarai Jullena and we are glad we found it! The mouth-watering biryanis that I ogled at are already on my mind for the next jaunt.

A simple no frills eatery which packs a big punch with its food. Hotel Malabar serves some lip smacking dishes. Love their porottas, beef fry, beef curry, prawn masala, mutton fry & beef biryanis.

The location is a bit obscure, so in case you are unable to get your bearings right, so give them a call for directions.

My rating - 3.5/5

This restaurant is tucked inside a crowded housing colony behind the market. It was not that easy to find the place. But people in the market knew about this place. Their pricing was good looking at their mebu. It was cheap. We ordered prawn biryani, kerala parota and buff roast. The biryani was good even though I could have tried chicken. Parotta was soft and tasty. The best part was the roast curry. It was spicy and tasty. In the end looking at the bill surprised me. It was cheap for this good food. Will definitely come here again to try out the othet menu.

This place is basically a microscopic hole in the wall in Sarai Jullena opposite the posher New Friends Colony. But a find none the less. Got to know of this place via Zomato and went in search of it (a true foodie's quest). One has to go deep into the colony which was a sort of Malayalee ghetto, a little Kerala of sorts. Mallu shops, mallu music and of course, mallu tea stalls. I half expected some jobless guy shouting "Inquilab Zindabad" and holding a red flag walking around. But a mallu will sniff out a mallu eatery anywhere and we came upon this "Hotel". Its more like a clean dhabha or dhabha run. U ll have to eat what they ve made for the day. I ordered chicken fry, beef fry and Kerala parotta (paratha for the shuddh Hindi types). All of these items were great to taste, fresh (and didn't cause any problems whatsoever). The only thing missing was a glass of toddy. And this just after the beef ban in a certain state. Its like a delicious form if protest. The best thing... True value for money. Great food at these rates is like manna for a mallu. Yeah, its a bit interior, they don't deliver very far. But good clean food at reasonable rates.

Really good food to order!
Must try: fish fry, fish curry, chicken chettinad, mutton coconut fry
Breads: malabar parotta
Had such good combination of taste and quantity. 1 portion is enough for 2 people.
Lovely serving, good quality.

Can't believe I missed out on this gem all this while - offers one of the world's greatest coastal cuisines at ridiculously cheap prices. Go for beef or mutton fry, Malabar special chicken curry, parothas and appam. A half-point deducted for location, but this is a place you cannot really miss if you dig Keralite food.

Have to say about the service, it was fab and at first I went there late for lunch, the Kerala rice was over, and they provideded with new rice in 10 min, the sambhar and curd were absolutely good, the side dishes were very homely and nice. Had a black tea, the best. I had went to Annie's Kerala kitchen the other day, and I feel I have to give Malabar restaurant more points for their meals. I went again to the hotel, now they have increased the price of meals to rs 126. But still worth it, for just to taste homely food for South Indians

Food is fairly good and authentic south indian. But it took a lot of time to get it supplied. Also, the atmosphere is not really good.

Here, you can find good authentic South Indian food at a very nominal price. The place is clean and well maintained. You can go in for early breakfast to late dinner.. I especially enjoyed their parotta with egg masala and also their masala dosa. So go ahead and give a visit here. In conclusion, its a pocket friendly restaurant even for students.

Little hard to find, and you have to walk a little from the main street. You get authentic Malabar taste in their gravy dishes. Of course, the Malabari parotta is what you must have. The biryani, however, is 90% plain boiled rice that NCR people will just not like.

It's just inside from main road. But the google map really helped me. You can trust google map to reach in the hotel. Cars will not go through the road. You can't understand the hotel until you reach in front of the hotel. There are no signs in the road. I just travelled 12 km to reach there to buy a biriyani. It's really worth traveling this long. Food is really nice. That's why the hotel is really famous. You can trust and go. Enjoy your meals ❤😘
