A true blue North Indian food restaurant - Moti Mahal in Defence Colony does a great job with their food. Their kebabs are fresh, the Butter Chicken is perfection and their naans are crisp light and well made. The service could be more prompt but when the food is that good, it’s not a big deal. I just wish they would do the traditional sweetened vinegar rich onions that other places do as well with the kebabs and butter chicken. The onions we had were bland. Apart from that, can’t point a finger at them. Moti Mahal will be a classic forever.

I just loved the chicken biryani. Though they don't serve anything else with biryani. But i had it with mint chatni and it tasted awsome. Tried chicken tikka as well. Taste was ok but if it was a little more grilled it would have been great in taste.

The food here is always good. The north Indian delicacies are worth tasting. The location is good, ambience nice and serene. The hospitality is great. They can improve on the menu to include few more items in the menu. Otherwise a must visit place.

The only reason I did not give the place a 5 star was because of the seating, other wise it was a lovely experience. We ordered Cheese Stuffed Malai Kofta which was absolutely delicious and the ever legend Dal Makhni. I mean what could go wrong here and nothing went. Good food, you can easily have a conversation and very old school courteous staff, which is amazing. The only issue was the seating, there are too many people and sometimes you would eavesdrop on someone else’s conversation even if you don’t want. I will surely visit again and try something new and with Zomato gold it’s easy on the budget too. 😄
Briyani is recommended food here. After placing order they dnt take much time to serve. Nice taste, polite staff and pocket friendly if you have Zomato Gold.

Moti Mahal is the place to go, if you are crazy about typically good North Indian Food. Due to ceiling it’s 2 floors are not functional, so they have a small place now, but none the less, the taste, quality is too good.
Food - Dal Makhani, Gravy Manchurian, Tandoori Roti, Sweet corn soup.
Sweet corn soup was a little disappointing because of no seasoning. It has literally no salt in it. However, the quantity was pretty good.
Dal Makhani was very heavy and very good. A typical North Indian taste made it awesome for me.
Gravy Manchurian was also delicious. Especially it’s gravy, it had just the right amount of spice to not make it too spicy or too bland.
Tandoori Roti were nice, big and crisp.
The pricing is also okayish. It’s not so cheap. It costed us INR 1880 with a zomato gold. So, it’s almost 2K+ for two.
However, the quantity was good enough for us to get little leftover packed.
Moti Mahal Delux has always been my favourite. I just love their Mughlai preparations.They have happy hours in case you care for cheap drinks early in the evening. The staff is courteous. The menu has a wide variety of choices. My personal favourites are Murgh Masallam and Stuff Chicken Leg Pieces.

Moti mahal is best and famous restaurant among Delhiites. I completely in love with food. Virgin Mojito is must must try. Paneer was soft. Quantity was too good. But i love dum aloo more. Raita is too good. Food is damn good. But i recommend you to go for dum aloo over paneer. And don’t forget to try Virgin Mojito.😃
One of my favourite places for Indian. My favourites include- butter chicken , garlic naan and pineapple raita. The ambience is nicer than the other outlets and the service is top notch.
Even though it is said that all Moti Mahal outlets get gravies and marinated beats from a base kitchen, the chicken curry, chicken tikka and garlic naan stand out at this outlet. Visited this place after many years, and the good tasted just the same, the chicken curry seems to be slow cooked with the chicken bhunoed in all masalas. The tikka isn't very different but it's never dry which is a big plus. Garlic naan usually becomes very heavy and make me uneasy, thankfully not here,!!!!
After a late night play this place played the role
of a good host to our hungry tummy. While the place was deserted but guess it was because we were there around 11:30pm. Both Veg and non veg dishes were enjoyed by the group.

Moti Mahal in defence colony has beautiful interiors and is spread across two floors. They also have an extensive menu with lots of options.
We started our dinner here with appetizers-
Veg platter and Tandoori Murg
Both of them were really nice. Veg Platter had paneer tikka, Seekh Kebab, Tandoori aloo and tanoori pineapple. Tandoori chicken was loaded with spices and had a brilliant taste! Highly Recommended.
For main course we ordered Malai Kofta, Kadahi Paneer and Chicken Tikka masala
Personally my favourites was Chicken tikka Masala. It had boneless pieces of chicken in thick gravy which was full of flavours! Chicken tikka masala is highlyrecommended and it shouldn't be missed if any of you guys are visiting this place. Kadahi Paneer and Malai Kofta were pretty average.
The one and only thing that i didn't like was that they had no dessert section on their menu. I hope the management see this review and add some options in desserts.

There should be no doubt about Moti Mahal and the scrumptious north indian food it is well known to serve.
I visited Moti Mahal Delux in Defence Colony and was as impressed with the whole feel of the restaurant as I had been when younger.
The ambience of the place is Inviting. Tables neatly arranged and nicely planned out. Service is quick and the waiting staff is courteous.
Now, about the food.
I tried chilli paneer and mixed veg platter for the appetizers and with no shadow of doubt, I can recommend both.
The veg platter consisted of tandoori goodness with paneer tikka, seekh kebab, stuffed capsicum and bharva aaloo. If you are a north indian, I am sure you know what I mean when I say it makes you crave for more.
Chilli paneer too was properly made. No fault there.
For the main course, I tried matar mushroom and lachha parantha along with mixed raita. I have to commend the quantity they serve. Unlike many fancy restaurants, Moti Mahal makes sure to not con the customer. Matar mushroom had a rich creamy gravy. It was extremely satiating and enough for two. Along with chutney, raita and lachha parantha, it became a meal I will surely go for again.

I recently visited the Defence Colony outlet by the name Moti Mahal Delux, which is spread over two floors. Elegant and chic décor gives it a comfortable vibe. Great for family dinners, this place is generally hustling with family groups. I decided to feed on their speciality and ordered the Butter Chicken with Tandoori Roti and Garlic Naan. The Butter chicken was rich, smooth and pleased my senses. It is a meal itself and I will surely go back for more.

I recently visited the def col outlet where I had a wonderful experience. From the food and drink to the food everything was beautifully done.
The items what I tried and recommend would be the Non veg platter having malai seekh, achari tikka, malai tikka, chicken tikka & Tandoori Chicken. The platter is a yummy and fulfilling starter for 3 people served with some onion and chutney its perfect ! For the mains I had the famous Butter Chicken with Garlic naan, dal makhni & kadai panner, needless to say this combination is an old and classic combination never going wrong. It was a sunny sunday afternoon. I planned to go for lunch with my family. As defence colony is near to my place wo chose this restaurant. The decor is mesmerising. Environment is lovely.
We settled down and ordered butter chicken and garlic naan. The aromatic gravy made us more hungry. Garlic naan was one of the best. Naan topped with roasted garlic which complemented the mouthwatering butter chicken.

This is almost like every other Delux version of Moti Mahal. Above average food with family specific ambience and atmosphere. If this is what you are looking for, great. Otherwise there are a lot of good offereings in defence colony market.

They have got a decent wide menu of North Indian, Mughlai and Chinese cuisines.
We ordered Chicken biryani which came with dressing of boiled eggs on the top and someone who has been eating authentic biryani will love this presentation. The Biryani had appropriate spices and was quantitatively good. Along with that we also had Butter chicken and naan. Butter chicken had nice juicy tender chicken chunks but the gravy was extra sweet.
We had Gulab jamun at the end of our meal which was served hot was great at taste too.

This one is a fine dine and can be easily located, I like there Keema matar with Butter naan and for the starters I loved there Mutton Seekh and Chicken Tikka, both were really good. The service and prices are also decent, however certain food items can be improved like there butter chicken.

Famous for its North Indian Cuisine, Moti Mahal franchise is always a first choice to me when it comes to delicious tikkas, kebabs, dal makhani and obviously butter chicken.
Recently I and some of my friends visited Moti Mahal's Defense colony outlet for a heartful dinner. I was little surprised after checking out this outlet. Moti mahal is generally great option for famliy dining, but here ambience is really enjoyable for some small party or friends get together over some beer and drinks. I have the bira tap beer, one of my favorite Indian made beer with the starters.
For starters we had Fish takka, botti kebab, chicken chilli milli, chicken garlic kebab, mutton seekh kebab, veg spring roll. I will specially recommend the mutton seekh kebab and botti kebab, both were soft, tender ans delicious. The fish tikka also went well with the chilled beer.
For main course, we ordered butter chicken, bhuna gosht, shahi paneer, dal makhani, channa chilli, chicken biryani, breads, chicken chaat
Bhuna Gosht was a class apart minced mutton dish. The love for mutton keema will be enhanced if you have this with breads. Chicken biryani was okeish. So was the butter chicken. The gravy needs much improvement. Tomato puri along with indian spices need to be cooked enough with the good amount of butter to develop the thick and rich taste of butter tandoori chicken. Shahi paneer and dal makhani was good as the traditional way it should be. Chicken chaat was also another spicy snacks we enjoyed after finishing the main course :P
For dessert, gulab jamun and phirni was nice finishing touch of the grand feast!
I will visit again soon to taste the butter chicken here cause its the Moti Mahal's original creation which has redefined the Indian Non veg cuisine all over the world.

Suggested by a friend who has an acquired taste for Mughlai cuisine, i landed up at Moti Mahal. The food was well justified. Taste was really great, presentation was simplistic and classy. Recommended things are Paneer Tikka, Chicken tikka, Tandoori Aloo and Hara Bhara Kebab.
For the mains you must try the mutton rara, dal makhni and butter chicken. Food was creamy and the texture was good.

Moti Mahal is a name that needs no introduction. It is one of those chains that has made a name for itself in the north Indian food delicacy. This one in particular, in defence colony market, is no exception. Done subtle yet elegant with decor, this place screams its meaning. The decor is simple yet appealing.
Service was expectional too. In our time there we had no issues whatsoever. Instead, we were all the more delighted by their service and the knowledge.

we still believe that Tandoori aloo could have been better.
In main course we had, Dal makhni, shahi paneer and punjabi chole. If you have a spicy tongue, then punjabi chole is a must try for you. Our favourite dish here. Coming back to dal makhni, would really recommend it but shahi paneer was good.
We had Gulab jamuns in desserts which were just amazing.All in all, a good place to visit when in Defence colony.

Moti Mahal has been my first dine in option at defence colony. Many times we would skip the gola sizzlers and moets to eat the dal and Butter chicken from moti Mahal. But because of the era of restaurants changing from the past few years, I almost forgot about this gem.
While hogging in the market, I had a nostalgia and planned to visit again, the place has been redone and it is soo good.
Starters were delicious and excellent.
The mains were creamy full of texture and taste.
Dessert were spot on.
Visited this place after 3 years . Simple decor with sober ambience which gonna give u a typical family type restaurant. In starters their Hara bhara kabab , mutton seekh , mutton tikka are the best options . In main course mutton rara , butter chicken , chicken biryani and amritsari chole were ordered and gave us the worth full experience. I would prefer this place for decent family dinners.

round shaped this kebab was delectible and very tender.

4. Tandoori aloo--tandoori aloos roundels of potatoes out layered with sesame seeds and stuffed with sauted paneer...
5. palak makai malai---a simple yet authentic recipe which i loved.
6.dal makhani---a traditional dal made on slow fire to get that authentic taste of flavours.

Much of a household name that this is, this branch of Moti Mahal in Defence Colony has really upped its game in terms of ambience and an overall vibe which has been revamped to a certain relaxed yet cheerful one.
As you walk into this renovated place, it's hard to miss the new peppy interiors which are quite a contrast from the traditional conventions of this cult chain.
The menu visits all point of the compass to pick up both vegetarian and meaty delicacies from the North Indian segment and chindian cuisine in a meal that scores highly on all parameters, including cost.
Coming to the point that ultimately makes all the difference, the food is pretty on point.
The starters are pretty darn delicious with big flavours, fresh quality and good quantity.

For the non-vegetarians it’s a gladiatorial taste test between the Mutton Seekh juicy and oozing flavour and Crispy soy tossed Chicken Chilly Milli, spicy sour, with the former walking away with the spoils, in my humble opinion.
Vegetarians will be utterly pleased with the medley of excellent flavours and textures that are incorporated into some really bomb starters.
Hara Bhara Kebab is the best I have tasted with creamy subtle flavouring and crispy bite on the outside, superb on the palate.
Paneer Tikka meets up to the conventional standards. Good stuff.
Tandoori Aloo was another memorable bite stuffed with gooey seasoned goodness of paneer and nuts and smoked to utter perfection!
I personally loved the vegetarian starters much more than my fave meaty Grub affair.
Forcefully moving towards the mains, I had no space in my tummy after consuming the melange of nibbles which were more of humongous servings for the gluttonous pig like myself.
For a foolproof meal, I'd suggest Bhuna Mutton Ghost with bangin flavours and extremely palatable texture of chunky mutton with spices. Team it up with garlic butter naan and it will be a heroic meal.
Chana Masala is excellent here with a tangy taste and big flavours.
Biryanis are good, but nothing too fabulous so I'd stick with some naans and gravies.
Verdict
A definite destination for good ol reasonable Indian food that heavies big on the palate and light on the pocket.
The vibe of this particular branch isn't nearly as dingy as you'd expect it to be since it resonates with a specific cult vibe. It's upbeat, modern and much chill, so drop by for a pint of beer and some tandoori murga or some really awesome vegetarian delights.

This outlet of moti mahal took me by surprise. Known as the franchise which created butter chicken, one expects a boring family ambiance and retro style of hospitality, at least that's what I saw in their GK1 outlet. But this one was a game changer, the design , decor and aura here can be compared to any elite restaurant and thankfully tandoori chicken chunks in tomato butter gravy is not their only speciality.
We loved the kebabs and special mention to fish tikka for its perfect marination and execution. For mains, do try their murgi rahra for its delicious gravy and texture. Bhuna gosht was flawless as well. The only turn off was their butter chicken, either chef had a bad day or were my expectations too high. Breads can't get any better and then finally mutton biryani was the star in the end. Tender chunks of meat on the bed of flavourful rice wins the extra point.
The service was top notch and overall we had a great time. It's one of those outlets where one can also hang out with friends over a bottle of beer or wine.

In starters I tried-

Hara bhara kebab should not be missed. It was soft and absolutely delicious.
Paneer tikka was soft and well cooked.
Veg seekh kebab and spring rolls were average.
For main course I had-
Shahi paneer,dal makhani, palak makai malai roti and veg pulao.
Absolutely loved having the dal with the pulao.
For desserts I had gulab jamun which were soft and tasty.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Moti Mahal has worked on getting the quality of food back on track. The service was pretty swift and I got my order quickly. I had the following -
1.Dal Makhani - Rich, creamy and a perfect dish to make an Indian meal a hearty one.
2.Butter Naan - Soft with a generous dollop of butter.
3.Hyderabadi Biryani - Stellar stuff. The Biryani had a lot of flavour and had been well prepared.
4.Butter chicken - Pretty decent. The chicken was nice and tender.
Overall, I was impressed with the food and will definitely head back for more.

This outlet is located in the market near the Jugaad Cafe and is spread over 3 floors with decently done up interiors.
Had the STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI cocktail which was way too sweet for me.
HARA BHARA KEBAB is a must try here . They were really soft and melt in the mouth unlike I've had elsewhere.
The PANEER TIKKA was nice and soft .
THE TANDOORI AALO had a nice stuffing of the paneer and were well roasted in the tandoor.
THE SPRING ROLLS could be missed.
The mains comprised of DAL MAKHANI, SHAHI PANEER AND CORN PALAK AND VEG PULAO . The food tasted good except the Corn Palak was on the sweeter side.
We had PHIRNI which would be better if served in earthen ware katoris but the GULAB JAMUNS were very soft and nice.

This resturant Doesn't need any introduction when it comes to brand this one is located in defence colony market and the property is spread over three floors ground, level one and level two .
The interiors of the restaurant are done in simple manner with paintings on wall to give a fusion effect . the restaurant is operational from 12 noon to midnight and they are serving north indian, mughlai and chinese dishes in there menu. They also serve arrange of different mocktails to enjoy with lipsmacking food.
Coming to food recommendations according to my taste pallet would be

To be honest the starters were very good,,the place was very warm and a good place if your Hanging out with your family there..
Fish was amazing even the mutton seekh kebabs but the biggest disappointment was butter chicken..was expecting a lot from that but well..

Newly renovated branch of Moti Mahal, refreshingly great ambience but it's the food that won me over.
Being a hard core non vegetarian, I ordered a few Mutton dishes and I must say that each dish was bursting with bold flavours.
Mutton Seekh kebabs were exceptionally juicy and flavourful and Mutton Boti Kebabs were rich in spices, very tender.
Still wanting more red meat, we ordered some Mutton Bhuna Gosht, which was loaded with delicious spices, juicy and very delectable. Perfect balance!
My vegetarian friend had Chole which were among the best I have eaten. Tangy, sweet spicy and again very well balanced in terms of preparation.
Moti Mahal has certainly become my go-to place in times of great cravings and longings.
Came here with my family last week and we decided to pick Moti Mahal because of it being a cult name. We were certainly not disappointed .
Recently renovated, the interiors are fresh and inviting with a touch of modernity which is great because the vibe has certainly been upped.
Hara Bhara Kebab was among the best vegetarian dishes I have ever tasted.
Super moist with a creamy texture, delicious.
Chilly Chicken was bursting with popping flavours.
In mains, we had Palak Makai Malai with garlic butter naan and it was a delightful surprise of sweet corn cooked in a semi sweet spicy curry. Extremely flavourful and highly recommended for vegetarians.
Gobbled this down with some Gulaab Jamun and Phirni which was light and yummy, just what I needed to close a heavy meal!
I have visited the restaurant, MOTI MAHAL, with my family and we had the MOST PATHETIC FOOD at there since the food was not cooked well and the tenderness of onion and rotten tomatoes was there. When we asked the waiter to have a look about the quality of food, he said that it cooks like that. And argued a lot to divert the issue... And the height of misbehave was there when one of our family member asked him to REMOVE THE SERVICE CHARGE since we did not like the food and service... He furiously argued with her and insisted her to pay the service charge...
We have suffered a lot due to that food that many of us had food poisoning and loose motions...
Please take it as a WARNING in order to avoid the food to SAFEGUARD your health...
Further, I request FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITY to take necessary steps to invigilate the MOTI MAHAL in Defence Colony, Delhi...
Wonderful reastuant, great staff is very humble and cooperative. I would love to visit again and recommend to others. Ambience is unmatched with lot of natural beauties and it is place to relax

Very tasty, everything was good. Naan was great even though it didn't taste like a naan but it was wonderful what ever the naan turned into.
The food here is always good. The north Indian delicacies are worth tasting. The location is good, ambience nice and serene. The hospitality is great. They can improve on the menu to include few more items in the menu. Otherwise a must visit place.
I found this place a very quiet and calm.
The food is fantastic with absolute flavours.

And chicken tikka and malai chicken is must try.
I enjoyed dinner there.
