Lookin for a fancy kashmiri restaurant-this is definitely not the place for you, but if you are craving for authentic kashmiri cuisine and want to go easy on your pocket, this my friend, is exactly the place, you should go.. Did try rista, rogan josh, mutton kebabs, n gustaba..the meat was finely minced n tasted great.. I went to try tabakh maaz but unfortunately they don't have that always on their menu.. The menu is limited with nothing strictly vegetarian.. In all, this is a great place to taste kashmiri cuisine.
Amazing food. My favourite dish there is Rista and roasted chicken. It's not a fancy dine though.
I have never eaten such delicious Kashmiri food anywhere.
Undoubtedly Authentic Kashmiri wazwaan !
Menu is short but includes the main dishes .
Price is at par with other restaurants across DEL/NCR Kashmiri restaurants.
You can get Harissa on order !
Hygiene part needs to be taken care !
Had a great time over all !
Hard place to find. Frugal place. Dont expect too much in looks.. but they say.. the lotus grows out of mud and dirt. Mutton sheekh kebabs.. yeah you heard it. Try it! If you are not done with that..try the juicy rishta and goshtaba. Perfect preparation, better than most other wazwans in n around Delhi. But my personal favorite comes next- tabaqmaaz. The slow cooked ribs- cooked to accurate tenderness in ghee. I remember gobbling down 7 of them as my friends watched in disbelief. If you are more into main course.. the rogan josh with steamed rice would do just great for you. Don't turn back looking at the surrounding.. give a try!!
In one of my recent reviews, I wrote about the diverse and delightful regional cuisine of India. Among these, I rate Kashmiri cuisine in the top five. Kashmiri cuisine has evolved from the cuisines of Central Asia, Persia and the North India plains. When it comes to mutton dishes, Kashmiri cuisine is indeed my favourite. The use of Kashmiri chillies, saffron, dry ginger, asafoetida, saunf and other aromatic spices make Kashmiri dishes mildly spicy, but rich in flavours. I also like the light gravy which is a great combination with their staple grain, rice.
There are over half a dozen of restaurants which serve Kashmiri food in Delhi NCR. Gulfam Kashmiri Wazwan in Nizamuddin may be one of the humblest one which serve a limited disges, but of consistent quality. I have visited this joint several times in the past. After, almost a decade I again got a chance to pack few dishes from here. I packed half a portion of Rista and Rogan Josh and couple of Roomali Rotis (not Kashmiri) from here and headed home.
I found both the dishes flavourful as I had taste years back. This is clean food and light on the pocket. Most of the dishes are nonvegetarian – Rista, Rogan Josh, Kebab, Gostaba and Tabak Maas and the vegetarian will be left with little choices. I wish they had vegetarian dishes likes Dum Aloo,Nadroo Yakhni and Paneer Chaman, which are equally popular as their nonvegetarian counterparts and would given us a balanced menu to choose from.
Try this joint, if you are visiting Nizamuddin!
M a big fan of such kinda mughlai flavrd foods ... Rich spices ghee and othentik flavrs wd khamirri or rumali are just tremnds peopl do try these foods
I went there with my kahmiri friends
I never tried kashmiri food before going there..
They serve good , every dish was available
May be you will not like the sitting arrangement but you will definitely like the food they serve..
In local area's like Nizamuddin this is the best kashmiri restaurant..
The price is much cheaper than any other kashmiri restaurant..
People going here need to be purposeful at the least, because for the average Delhi diner the seating area will surely be a source of shock. But if youre persistent or from Kanpur as me, you will find a taste difficult to be replicated by many.
For one, this place is a myriad. Grab a seat on the outside, they offer an inside seating arrangement also which is good but as all good things, the action is outside.
Once you sit, order the Tabakhmaz and Rogan Josh, the ideal start, the grills on the sides serve great Seekh Kebabs and tikka along with a variety of snacks. Biryani served at Gulfam is of an achaar variety that makes a great companion.
Finally, a structure on the opposite side of the road, serves a smartly Nizamuddinized version of a Mango Shake, taste it to believe it.
Great spot to hit with the boys.
Gulfam is a modest Kashmiri joint in Nizamuddin, easy to approach from the road. Seating is not very pleasant, but thats not what you expect when you are looking for food in Nizamuddin. Serve both Kashmiri and limited Mughlai dishes.
Ordered
Rogan josh, it was a bit different from mughlai counterpart served in the area, decently spiced and good to try.
Mirchi qorma, a spicy mutton qorma made with kashmiri red chilly. Must have if you want to try something different.
Rista, saffron gravy with meatballs, liked the taste but found a lil more liquid in curry. Must say the meat was soft n juicy.
Gushtaba, creamy counterpart, curd n cream with meatballs. Did not like it much, have had better in delhi itself.
Biryani, was okayish and nothing great about it, found the chicken in it a bit cold and flavours were average
Phirni, loved it and a must try after food.
Overall had a good experience of wazwan here but nothing so special to visit again.
BEST RISTA IN TOWN!
Gulfam has been a true hidden find in the longest time. This place is a treasure trove of amazing Kashmiri food in an area that is quickly becoming commercialised with each passing year. This little restaurant in the corner of Nizamuddin is not for people looking for so-called ambiance and refinement. They have formica topped tables and rickety chairs. Just grab a seat, turn up the swinging fan overhead, and holler out your order.
Their goshtaba might seem a tad insipid as it is quite light, but the quality of meat used in their preparations is what takes the proverbial cake. They must be doing some form of alchemy because I am yet to find a finer quality of lamb mince in the city. Proceed with a plate of rice with a serving of rista. You’ll not regret shamelessly slurping down the meatballs in a delicate thin, red gravy of roasted spices, garlic, and cayenne pepper. This is absolute masterclass stuff that will bring tears of joy as you ask for seconds.
Call for a serving of haaq saag, which is dry mountain spinach and tabak maaz, pieces of marinaded lamb ribs fried in butter. By the time you’re done, you’ll have a smile on your face.
Can’t recommend this place more, even if its only for their rista-chawal. Go, savour a taste of the valley you'll not find in most other posh places.
We loved: The unbelievable rista, made with what is evidently unicorn tears. Also the onion pickle.
We shrugged: Most other items are pretty run of the mill
Pocket friendly Kashmiri cuisines. This 'Dhaba' is more about the food and less on the ambiance. Staff is courteous and thumbs up for the item rates. Must visit for people looking for a full stomach food without getting a hole in the pocket.
I went to Gulfam Kashmiri Wazwan in Nizamuddin with a friend of mine. It was a wintery Sunday evening when we decided to go the place. The kebab stall outside the seating place serves fresh barbecues. We ate the chicken tikka which was really juicy in taste and the freshness could be easily noticed. Surprisingly it was very pocket friendly as well. The person serving us was very courteous. He very willingly told us the recipes as well. A good place for all foodies.
Gulfam kashmiri wazwan has been serving some pocket friendly wazwan for well over 20 years now. Ristas are as good as what you would get in Kashmir, the rista curry is equally good.
Must try:-
Ristas
Gostaba
Kashmiri seekh kebabs
Kashmiri onion chutney.
its just mesmerizing Kashmiri wazvaan located near nimzamudin vicinity. we tasted each and every stuff out there and every piece was finger licking. just awesome.
Here this restuarant works more because of its location than taste.
A small but well maintained resturant serving you wazwan dishes.
Rista and yakhni are well prepared here. If you are around and u don't want to indulge into Biryani then this the place for u.
A small place inside nizamuddin.. Tried Rista and gushtaba and tabak maans .. Only tabak maans dissappointed.. (Cost Rs.300/item) Rest was good.. Quantity wise was also everything was good.. One should try this place atleast once if they are looking for some Kashmiri cuisine..
A great place to have Kashmiri food. The food is not as heavy as Wazwan usually is and also not high priced. The onion salad served complimentary with the dishes is just awesome. I would recommend this place if you have a party at home and need some nice Kashmiri dishes to add to your home menu. Seating and ambiance is a shade better than a good dhaba.
A tiny little shop tucked deep inside the lanes of Nizamuddin, this place is a must visit for those craving authentic Kashmiri cuisine in Delhi. A very minimal setting consisting of rectangular tables and benches and a large menu is the only decoration this place offers.
We ordered a gushtaba, a rogan josh and some breads. The rogan josh was really tasty; and though I don't have the taste for gushtaba, those of my friends who do, said it was amazing. So taste-wise, while I'm giving it 3.5/5, my friends would settle for nothing less than 4.5/5.
The delivery time is fast and the staff is nice. They even gave us some extra rogan-josh when we got it packed.
An added bonus is getting to traverse the lanes of Nizamuddin, which is an experience in itself :)
Not sure if it is authentic Kashmiri food but it definitely is the best non-vegetarian food that I have eaten. It is way better than the highly acclaimed Karim's (which is not Kashmiri but even as Mughlai it does not stand against this).
Recently went to Humayun's Tomb and rediscovered Nizamuddin. The narrow lanes are warm and quite friendly. The people you cross are from different nationalities including Indian. As we walked down the lanes we crossed some restaurants that were closed and decided to choose Gulfam Kashmiri Wazwan over the other two just by chance.
They have indoor seating as well as a little outdoor space. Nothing fancy, just a basic restaurant that has decent seating in old style and good food.
We ordered:
- Rista
- Gushtaba
- Rice
- Rumali Roti
- Mutton Curry
AWESOME... YUMMY... That feeling which just gets you going, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
The bill came to Rs.1200/- but was worth it and we did not regret a single penny. This was the best 1200 we have ever spent. Will definitely go back and try out the other places.
Best kashmiri food in delhi, being kashmiri i can say that the food was really good. But the location and the ambience of the place is not good
GREAT KASHMIRI FOOD. THE BEST SO FAR I HAD IN INDIA. REAL AUTHENTIC, WAZWAN STYLE FOOD. IT IS WHOLE IN THE WALL KIND OF PLACE BUT SERVING THE GREAT FOOD. BEST DISHES, ROGAN JOSH, RISTA, TABAK MAAZ, GUSTABA, DHANIWAL KORMA, AND LOTS OF VEGETARIAN DISHES. SERVICE WAS VERY PROMPT AND GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY. I SHALL RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL FOODIES AROUND NCR AND WORLD. LOCATION IS THE ONLY MINUS POINT.
