Love super soft mutton, go for uzbeki pulao there. They provide so many complementary dish ,just wow. Also try mantu, their authentic momo. And in addition their sitting arrangement, traditional yet comfortable.

Their pulao was really nice as I like them with berries n a tinge of sweetness. The kebabs and everything was different from the usual that I had been eating. What was all the more pleasant was that they served the food with a small plate of beans and another one of eggplant work sour cream. Also, the roti came complimentary!! Waiters here are polite.
The one thing that disappointed me was the phirni. Could be so much better!! The mutton in tomato heavy was succulent and tender and the special momos (manto) is quite a healthy option that strangely Congress in good taste! :)

I discovered this restaurant long time back and with almost tears in my eyes I can say "God bless Afghan food" .... even tho I love Indian food, I can only have few bites else my stomach punish me so yes, Afghan food is a little piece of heaven for an expat living in India... Coming from a place were we love meat done by coal and basically with just salt and fewer spices, I can say it was love at first sight... The kebabs (mutton, fish), uzbeki pulav, mantu and Lubia are for sure the stars in the menu... For sure an interesting, pleasant and delightful cuisine for those with a more westerized taste... and cheap!!! ..... Even tho is true, service is not their finest, I had never feel mistreated in this restaurant but for me what is the most important is the quallity in their food-taste and that has been a constant right for years! ... Oh... and very important... tea is not free here: it happens all afghans have tea because that is just the way afghans eat, and they ask for it and PAY for it! hahahahahah so don't let your inside demons make you think they are being rude or something.

Afghan Darbar is located in the main street of Lajpat Nagar. The ambiance of the place was so good and the restuarant was spacious & well planned to male the customers feel comfortable. The classic architecture and calm aura is there in the place. When it comes to food, they are one of the cafe in Delhi which serves authentic Afghan dishes. We have ordered manto, uzebwiki, mutton kurma & phirni. We got Naan & rajma as complimentary with the other dishes. The uzebwiki & manto had unique /rich flavour which gives a kick to the hungry stomach to dig in more food. Uzebwiki had taste of sweet, spicy and meatness in the dish, which blended together to give a perfect mind boggling flavours to satisfy the soul. Manto was stuffed keema dumplings which were crafted to perfect. Mutton kurma was fine ,but not great as expected and the Afghan naan became very hard soon, & difficult to eat. The restaurant serves free green and black tea before 7pm ,foodies do visit before that time to have a hot cup of chai. One of the must try dish is phirni, i have never had such an amazing phirni ever in my life. No words to describe the moments of having this amazing dish. It is one of the pocket friendly restuarant and we had an amazing day there.

If you want to try some Afghani food on a budget then you must try this place. I loved their Uzbeki, the lamb was delicious, it will melt in your mouth. Very much pocket friendly.
If you are bored eating the same kind of food every day and want to try something new for your tastebuds. This afghani place will provide you with authentic afghani cuisine and also with amazing dine-in experience.
The place has a very nice and beautiful dine-in space and also a great ambiance. The place is quiet and a bit dark that sets the mood really nice.
We tried the following
1. Kabuli Uzbeki - It was Biryani with Lamb. The lamb was cooked properly and was fresh and tender.
The quality of rice was amazing and was on a sweeter side. It is a must-have for people who like Biryani.
2. Ashak - It was a vegetarian dish that was something we did not even think was served anywhere. It was dumplings with some toppings served with Afghani Naan. Dumplings were topped with chana dal and were very well cooked and tasted just amazing.
This place is a must-visit with family if you ever visit Lajpat Nagar and crave for some good food.
I did not discover this hidden gem until one day my friend introduced me to it. The taste and flavours of Qabuli Uzbeki still linger on my tongue. Awesome authentic Afghani dishes that are super delicious, inexpensive and fulfilling. The mutton in the pulao was falling off the bone as it melt away in every bite. I have not tried all the dishes but its on my bucket list and so it should be on yours.
We stumbled into this because of the reviews we saw on zomato and it was worth the stop.

The Afghan friends have set up this beauty on the busy streets of Lajpat Nagar. Quite honestly I used to think Yakhni chicken is rad over rated until I had their Yakhni Murgh, consistency in the gravy and succulent chicken pieces with Afghani rotis is something one should have before all the visceral cholesterol gets the better of you :). 5 stars for the reasonable pricing.
As soon as i put the food in my mouth, i was like WOW !! 😂 afghan food totally suits my stomach!! They put the perfect amount of spice and the way they cook is Superb !!❤ the afghan naan was so so good !! I ate that with black tea !! Yummy !! I even packed it and bought it home😂 FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION 😁 and of course i love the people of Afghanistan since i was a kid :) May the Lord bless their country. The thing that attracted me was the people ,they respect each other so much 😍 by greeting each other ,totally captured my heart!!

The perfectly cooked red meat in the town. The qabuli uzbeki ( afghan biryani if I've to put it in basic terms) is a consortium of correct amount of sweet and salt with extremely soft pieces of mutton. The tikka is not at oily and super good and healthy. The served some complimentary beans and aubergine on the side. Loved it
Been there yesterday. A small but decent eatery. We ordered mutton choppan kabab, Kabuli uzbeki and mutton korma. Kabab was tasty but a bit hard compared to my taste. No complain about Kabuli uzbeki. Meat was tender and nice. It was going great with mutton korma. A sumptuous dinner it was. Also this is just walking distance from Lajpat Nagar metro. Will try other dishes in future while visiting that area.

Coming to my order , I ordered for “ QABULI UZBEKI” one of the most famous dishes here. Well this is not mere a single dish. It consists of - Qabuli Pulav , Burani Banjan ( brinjal ) , Rajma , Afghani Roti.
The flavours are so surreal and pure. Probably the best Afghani food one can have in Delhi. The whole ambience , staff , music there will surely transport you to Afghanistan. Food is totally non spicy , but Rich in flavours . Pulav is so delicious with fried carrots and raisins on top. And it comes traditionally with mutton underneath Rice. But , they will get it replaced with Chicken for u. Rajma is oh my god , the best I ever had.

Just ask for their green tea or black tea. They won’t charge for it. It’s part of their culture. And trust me , the green tea here with mild cardamom flavour is the best.

I have been to this place a few times. Great ambience and certainly great food. Chopan kebab is a MUST try. I would also recommend Qabuli Uzbeki it's afghani biryani with raisins and thoroughly cooked juicy mutton. One must definitely visit fir good authentic afghani taste.

This is a all Afghani restaurant. The staff too are Afghani people. Their dastarkhan seating is really comfortable, the place is huge.

Tandoori chicken (5/5) never had such good tandoori chicken very well marinated. The masala was all over the tandoori, Can't get over it.
Rajma (4/5) never enjoyed Rajma before this encounter.

The ambience was nice the music was afghani and so was the staff. It had the afghani feel to it which I loved the most.

After hearing a lot about this restaurant, I had the chance to go here today. The taste is awesome, authentic afghani, the chaap mutton kabab is good in starters, chicken tikka kabab was also very tasty. The Kabuli Puao is pure awesome. The rice was amazing, even the kadhai chicken tasted very good.

One can blindly trust afghan_darbar_restaurant when it comes to craving for authentic Afghani cuisine. Their kebabs are juicy and the spices blend in each fibre perfectly. The curries have a great different taste to satiate that "little different than regular " craving of your pallet. To top it up, they serve the staple Afghani Naan free with any curry you order. While living in Delhi for decades now, I always knew that there are places in Lajpat Nagar where a lot of people from Afghanistan reside. A lot of them had come post the Russian invasion in the 1980s & made Delhi their home. When it came to having some authentic food for dinner somehow this place came up though none of my friends had been to it. So we decided to head to lajpat nagar & try Afghani delights.
The restaurant is a small place though it has some 20-30 covers in the basement too. Since we had already eaten some snacks on the way we went directly for the main course. We asked our server for some recommendations & he mentioned Uzbuki pulao which comes with breads, pulses & aburgiene. Along with it we had chicken stew & Mutton chopan on skewers.
The order was on our table in quick time. The pulao was a little sweet but it tasted so well that we could not stop eating it. It had chunks of meat along with dry fruits which gave it such a good fragrance. I was mesmerized by the pusles as they tasted just like cooked at home. The chopan was good & reminded us of the mediteranian food that we had on one of our trips abroad. The chicken was also good & the best part of the food was that it was not at all spicy.
We also ordered afghani kheer & ice cream. The ice cream was so good that we reordered it as we just could not have enough of it. We felt so content after the meal with such value for the food that the whole meal costed us Inr 1100.
This is a must go place to have authentic Afghani cuisine. It is hygienic, food is good & is value for money. What else can one ask for...
If only there was an option of rating 6 stars, I would do it! Start your meal with Yakhni Murgh (chicken shorba), then order Tandoori Chicken and Kabuli Uzbeki (sort of biryani, minus the spices), it comes along with Rajma and Eggplant as separate accompaniments. They give you green tea free of cost, it makes a good combo with non veg. Chicken tikka is another good menu item.
Small little hidden gem in the busy market of Lajpat Nagar ! We went on a Saturday night and it was full( they must be having around 12-14 tables on two floors) and we chose a low seating! We ordered couple of things ( qabuli uzbeki and chopan kabab that came with naan and rajma) and all the food was non spicy, non oily and tasted very nice! Ambiance and service are okay okay but value for money is good! Two dishes , coke and juice cost us 600 bucks. Will definitely try more of this cuisine!
Great Food. Qabuli Uzbeki should be your first dish to try out. Some tasty lamb pieces with biryani like rice (slightly sweet although due to carrots and raisins).
Rajma was tasty, but taste wasn't unique.

This place has the best food! I used to go all the time when I lived here 3 years ago. When I recently returned to India this was the first place I wanted to eat and their quality has persisted through the years. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is great. You always leave feeling full and the food is consistently top class in flavor and portions. I highly recommend this place to everyone I meet in Delhi. I had heard a lot about this place and was looking forward to a visit, so when my colleague invited us for Iftar at Afghan Darbar, I readily agreed. The place was packed when we reached as it was Iftar time. We made ourselves comfortable on the floor seating arrangement though there were sofas and tables. We wanted to feel the authentic Afghani dining experience. As we waited for our order to arrive we were served with complimentary green tea. The staff was courteous and paid good attention. The food started arriving one by one and before us we had a mouth-watering spread which included: Mutton Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tandoori, Mutton Choupan Kabab, Borani Bangan, Rajma, Afghani Bread, Pulao, Mutton Qorma and Namkeen Lassi. The food was absolutely wow. The tandoors and kebabs were perfectly charred on the top to give the crisp and well cooked from the inside. They tasted wonderful with the Mayonnaise that was served. The Baingan in spite of being a veg dish did stand out among the meat. The warm Afghani bread was soft as a cushion and a must mention to the lamb in the Pulao, it just melted in the mouth. I fell in love with the food. We ate with our mouths full and till our tummy was satiated. The Namkeen Lassi did help to digest all that we savored. For a dinner of seven the bill didn't amount to much, hence it was value for money. I am definitely coming back again.

Had ordered Chicken kadhai with Afghani Naan. The chicken kadhai here was very different than we usually have in Indian restaurants. The chicken kadhai here had more of a tomato flavour which I liked infact. The flavour was simple and savour. The Afghani Naan is more of a bun kind of bread which was also a different experience for me. The ambience is very Afghani as is the restaurant named after. Most of the time some Afghani song would be being played in the background which makes you feel the change in culture. The staffs and most of the crowd in the restaurant are Afghani so you can very feel the culture. Overall a nice experience with economical dining.

Putting up near Lajpath Nagar, we came to know about the Afghan Colony here. So to satisfy our craving for Afghani food we went there. Being a newby, we had no idea about where to go, so we asked few locals about which would be the best place to try authentic Afghani food for the first time. We ended up choosing this place.

After having afghani food at an event, I had a carving to have a proper lunch over at an afghan hotel and that made me come to Afghan Darbar restaurant.
Ambience- The restaurant had an authentic afghan atmosphere. We could hear their local songs being played which was very soothing to hear even though we were not able to understand the language. Nice sitting arrangements to make your eating journey a memorable one. Everything was fine but they need to take care of hygiene a bit. There were flies all over. Apart from it everything was ok. On Ambience front I would like to rate them 3.5/5
Food- the most important part for which we went to that place. We wanted to order everything but controlled ourselves. We started with Yakhni murgh (Afghani shorba) followed by chicken tikka served with the rods. The tikka was juicy and had a different taste to it.. it just melted in your mouth. For main course we ordered, mutton qorma which is accompanied by afghani naan. So extra naan won’t be required to order for a single person (depending upon the appetite). The afghani naan is the most unique naan I have ever seen. It had a yummy taste to it and had to be consumed when hot or else it would become proper rubber. It was too tasty and can be eaten without any curry also. We also ordered Uzbek pulao which is a traditional afghani pulao filled with mutton pieces, dry fruits and vegetables. Instead of raita they serve baigan ka bharta and rajma. An odd but unique combination. Try the mutton chopan kabab. In veg you can try the rajma which is so different and much more yummy than our regular rajma over here. Also a bit strange but you can even try the bhindi over there also. Green tea is complimentary over there and all green tea lovers should try it. It was really soothing. Finally they only had phirni and it was worth the taste. On Food front I would like to give them 4.5/5
Service- staff was very courteous and helpful in suggesting what to order. They do understand what their customers would want. We could see many regulars coming over and the staff attending to them with the equal zeal and enthusiasm just like they did with us. On the service front I would like to rate them 5/5.

Didn't even know Delhi had an Afghan neighbourhood! There are a few Afghani restaurants in the area, no doubt this is an authentic experience (75% of the patrons were Afghan-origin, the music is Afghani and the servers are all Afghani). The food is delicious and the prices are very value-for-money. The servers have some language issues with Hindi but they did get our orders right. Enjoyed the kofta and the kebabs!
The food was delicious. We ordered Mutton Chopan Kabab, Tandoori Chicken, Mutton Kadhai and Qabuli Uzbeki . Mutton Chopan Kabab steal the show, fresh and juicy, full of authentic flavours, it was a bliss - something that will attract me back to the place again. Mutton Kadhai was mutton well cooked with the curry of eggplant and the combination was a good taste to my mouth. I liked it. It came with three traditional breads. Qabuli uzbek pulao was the second best thing for me, it came with kidney beans curry and some eggplant curry and was again something I can have eaten all by myself (but alas! I had more ppl to share it with). Ambience wasn’t that good but the food compensated well for it. Will surely visit again.

Loved the Qabuli Uzbeki pulao! I was originally sceptical about the kismish in there.. but it tasted nice.
Loved the Bolani Gandana! (Essentially a spring onion stuffed pancake/Paratha made of maida)
The Al Fahm (tandoori chicken) was a little on the dry side.
They also supplied us with complementary rajma, borani banjan and Afghani naan!
The service was a little slow hence the 4 stars here...

This area of Lajpat Nagar has settlements of afghanis. Hence we can find many afghan cuisines here. Coming to Afghan Darbar:
1. It’s a small place , so waiting time is at least 15-30 min after 9pm.
2. Only 2 people went so order 3 dishes which also seems too much
Tandoori pulao- due to raisins it might taste sweet- has 2 pieces of cooked meat- so tender and nicely cooked. I have seen for the first time where all meat and chicken items cooked properly. Along with rice you get 3 afghan breads, rajma and brinjal curry. This would have sufficed. But we ordered chicken Qorma which is very tasty and properly cooked.
As a started we ordered Tandoori chicken kebab (Al farm) which is best. Although choppan Kebab is best it’s too much for 2 people. So we didn’t order.
Ordered 2 cokes.
Couldn’t complete all these items.
He asked for cash while bill payment, although would provide you UPI as last payment option.
When you want to have something tangy and very well cooked meat which can easily break with your fingers, Afghan Darbar is right place for you..!!
Chhoppan Kebabs are finger licking tasty! Must try it. Prices are also very good.
This restaurant has an amazing vibe and taste in quiet reasonable rate.
You will get a good taste for veg and non veg food.
Service is very good and fast.
Ambience is very cozy and clean.
You must visit here if you really love nin veg as well as veg food.

Food was great, pricing very economical for the quality of the food. The vicinity is crowded but then that's lajpat nagar, always!
This has to be one of the best places in Delhi/NCR for Afghani food, It’s great value for money with delicious food and great portions at affordable price. I’m glad I ended up here for lunch while visiting the Lajpat Nagar market. I ordered the chicken Kadhai with tandoori chicken kebab and their Qabuli Uzbeki rice and when the order arrived, I was surprised by their portion size as my table was filled and they even served a plate of kidney beans complimentary with the order. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I’ve been a regular ever since and I will recommend this restaurant to everyone who is looking to try something new and delicious.
Good food, value for money and a nice ambience. A must go place for sure. They take only cash or UPI for payment so prepare accordingly.
Good place if u are ready to wait for 20-25 mins for your turn , food is authentic, if you like spicy then not a place for you , I like mild spices so good place for me , worth a visit at least once
