Finally went for a food walk to the famous Zakir Nagar area of Delhi for a non veg feast.While I have been to Jama Masjid Matia mahal area for several times but somehow could not visit Zakir nagar earlier and finally decided with few foodie friends to visit the place.
The meal was started at the popular AL Umar restaurant which is very popular for its chicken dishes.We ordered the buttery Afghani chicken and the Peshawari chicken with roomali rotis.
Though it took aometime for the order to get readyvit was worth the wait.
The Afgani was creamy buttery and great with roomali.Its taste was a bit close to Jama masjids Aslam though Aslam one is bit tangy. Peshwari chicken was mild spicy and was awesum.
The chicken meal was a hearty yummy feast in itself.
Nice place especially for butter chicken and krbab...the place is in very congested area of Batla House chowk...and is traditionally carrying forward it's taste....

This is one of the hidden gems in Zakhir nagar road in Delhi. The roads in this area are highly congested, on these streets where it is very difficult to even walk, we can witness auto rickshaws speeding their way in the streets. Thats our incredible India.
This is a must visit place for any chicken lover. This place Al Umar chicken point, offers a lot of varieties of chicken from tandoori to tikkas to rolls. We tried their house special butter fried tandoori chicken. This dish is prepared by cutting the tandoori chicken into medium sized pieces and some gravy made of curd and cashew nut is being added to it. Now generous amount of ghee is added(really generous) and mixed thoroughly. Now some fresh cream is added to the chicken and some more ghee. Then it is topped with coriander leaves and again some more ghee. This dish is served and its good to eat it with roti. This dish wasn’t sweet despite adding lot of ghee and cream. This dish will blow your senses on your first bite. Discovering the bests of Indian street food.

A good place in overcrowded Zakir Nagar. Try chicken butter special roasted, it's one of the best.
In gravy you can try chicken Dahi dum and chicken do pyaza.
Ordered Chicken Changezi with khameeri roti and Sheermal. The chicken was cooked well and the gravy was spicy and full of flavour.
The chicken seekh kebabs were soft and soaked in butter and cream... Do I need to say more...

Their Afghani Chicken is the best I have ever had. Everytime I visit Batla House never fail to take a bite from here. Never tried their Rolls but even they seem to be quite tasteful.
One of the best pocket friendly Mughlai cuisine restaurant. They serve Mouth Watering amazing food at very reasonable prices. Recommendation are Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Mutton Qorma, Mutton Nihari, You can also try their Dal Makhni. But they have to improve their quality of Naan as well as the only disadvantage is that it is not a family restaurant so you can take away your favourite meal . But Must Visit place.
We tried their Chicken Qorma and Chicken Roll, both are average and can be consider once. Overall food is fine with considerable price and the service is also ok.
Cannot describe the immense satisfaction I had after having the food here. Tucked in a corner at Zakir Nagar, Al Umar served me and a couple of my friends with one of the best dinner's I've had in a long time (and that includes a trip to Al Jawahar earlier this month, the quality of which has gone down drastically).
We ordered the Afghani chicken and Mutton Qorma along with Khamiri Roti's and we had a smile on our faces every time we took a bite. I'll definitely visit this place again and along with some other one's as well.

Al Umar chicken point is one of my favorite in Okhla... Its almost like our second kitchen ;)
Since this restaurant has opened we have done so many orders from this restaurant we don't even know it..
my Family's most loved dish of Al umar is the roasted butter chicken.. It consists of roasted chicken with curd and butter as gravy and with green chutney and onion salad.. The best part of it is that you can eat it with chapati and with out it too.. Once you have eaten it you wont want to order anything else form the menu but my reader here you are going in a wrong direction..:P
Not just the roasted butter chicken has a great taste but the ordinary butter chicken is also yummy, the pieces are soft, the gravy is tasty and the combination of spices is perfect...
but if you reach late and both of the dishes are finished then you need to try the third favorite Chicken Changezi, this dish is a common dish here in Okhla many restaurants have it and its also a great dish to have in dinner. But here's the catch the gravy of changezi is a bit sweet so if you love spicy it might disappoint you but if you love eating non veg you should have to taste a lil sweet gravy with chicken pieces... after that you can also try kadhayi chicken which is also a common dish in okhla but it is yummy if you ask me but with the taste comes the heaviness of this cuisine but then again the taste is what you can manage all of it ;)
Well the staff is fast, polite and ready to serve you the moment you are ready with your order.. The ambiance of the restaurant is also nice but its mostly filled with only men eating and almost no females. Its a great place if you wanna have some fun eating with friends or you can get your order packed and have fun eating it at your own place :)

Afghani chicken - Full of butter (more like the butter chicken at old delhi). Taste - 4/5
Ambience - 2.5/5 but can be ignored considering the amazing food they serve.

Al Umar offers delicious Chicken Changezi and butter roasted Chicken. For dinner it's a bit difficult to find a table for yourself. Other Chicken dishes are also good.
So finally tried this place which was only left on my list of restaurants to be tried in OKHLA.

This is the best option for foodies..
Firstly, do not make the mistake of going here in the day time as most of their delicacies are available only in the night. The ambience and look of the restaurant resembles that of any roadside shack. But mind you, the food is the highlight. Their specialty is Afghani Chicken with Naan. The quantity is decent and the prices are worth every penny. My personal favourite is Chicken Lollipop and often travel all the way from Noida, just for that. The chicken biryani is quite decent too. Although the servers have a casual and couldn't-care-less attitude, it's always best to eat there itself.
This is the best place for mughlai cuisine, better than aslam's and nazeer. It is more expensive than aslam's but less costly than Nazeer.
Best thing to have there is Chicken Afghani and Butter chicken. Both have very unique taste as chicken is first roasted and then cooked in gravy giving you the most tender and juicy chicken you have ever eaten.
Warning* Butter chicken doesn't taste like normal butter chicken you have been eating all your life, it is like another dish with same name.

I have Been there N' Numbers of time. and one taste i can never get rid of is the taste of butter chicken and afgani chicken and fried chicken they made in there restaurant. my friends came from banaras mumbai and from punjab etc... always give me a reminder to be there on time. the finger lickin taste and perfect use of masala's there is too perfect. not too good place for girls and family but a place to go late night friends to nightouts. service is good as well. a restaurant you can never forget by its taste :)
Ignore the ambience and just experience the flavours. Everything is way too delicious. It's finger licking good! I love the fried chicken and butter chicken. Khamiri roti and naan is excellent. Highly recommended for food lovers!
At main Batla House, this restaurant is a must go for foodies. Though it is not pleasant to sit there, but the taste of food is awesome. We took one plate of malai tikka and waited for almost 30 minutes for that. But the time is worth.
They made loads of gravy in Chicken tikka with cream and spices. The chicken was well roasted and the spices are completely diffused in the chicken. A must go for foodies residing in this area.

How many times do we get down the dirty roads of Delhi and search for places which really and truly serve one of the finest street food. None. But i on the other hand believe in doing just that and that is how i found Umar bhai's shop 3 years back and after confirming my belief in this shop again and again, am i ready to give it a rating that it deserves.
There only three things that i order everytime i go and they are- afghani chicken, tandoori chicken and chicken lollypop. The tandoori rotis are crisp to perfection and are a must order for those willing to reach into the depth of this part of Delhi. Located right around the Batla House chowk, the amount of butter and cream the guy uses is insane. Almost like a slab of 200gm butter goes into one plate and the taste is truly divine.
For everyone going to this place, these three items are a must have and you would be doing yourself a disservice being a non-vegetarian if you didnt make it to this place.
A meal for two would cost about rs 500.

The best food I have had since I moved to Delhi. Biryani, Qorma and the very best chicken malai tikka. You can't get better non-veg in the capital.
I am a regular visitor of this restaurant as I study in Jamia Millia University. Butter Chicken is a must try other than that Butter Roasted Chicken and Malai Tikka can be tried.

Al Umar has no ambience what so ever..it is not hygenic..surrounding is not very pleasant..and service sometimes is pretty slow..bt when it comes to food dis place is a total delight..since da 1st time i visited this place food here hs become 1 of my guilty pleasures..mutton korma..nalli nihari..CHICKEN MALAI TIKKA..

I have visited Al umar couple of times. Tried limited items from their menu. We had ordered nihari, korma and chicken malai tikka the last time we visited. Chicken Malai tikka is the best that i have tasted.
Visit this place for their awesome food. The rating is solely for their food.
Location is disappointing but food is mouth watering. Have been here and still come here. A good place to dine your friends having canine tooth. Famous for various varieties of chicken. You won't find kebabs here, although mutton is available. Try fried chicken with butter and without butter. Both are really good. Service is good and cost wise I rate it as economical.

Almost crowded in evenings with groups of friends and small family members with kids and ladies. It is a pure non vegetarian restaurant and famous for its chicken options specially Mughlai Chicken with several varieties like Chicken Achari, Chicken changezi, chicken roast, butter chicken, Chicken Qorma, White chicken etc etc. Must go and try once at least to enjoy a new and unique taste.

Located in the busy road of Batla House. Difficult to reach by car. Two wheeler, rickshaw or walking would be better. Nearest metro station is Jamia Millia Islamia at a distance of around 500m. The food is of quite decent taste and available at reasonable rates. It takes around 15 minutes after ordering. One of the most famous dish here is butter roasted chicken with gravy (white). It is a must try. Other dishes are usual chicken dishes as korma, do payaza, kadhai, changezi etc. Sitting space is quite large and decent. Sometimes very crowded during evening and one would have to wait for sometime to get a seat.
Whenever I want to eat tasty chicken I prefer to go Al Umar.. butter chicken and peshawari chicken are awesome... very low cost...
