"Woh World Cup Final Wali Raat"

The craze we witness during the football world cup will almost make the foreigners wonder whether Team India got a wild card entry into it. Such is the craze all around that it is visible everywhere you look, whether it is the youngsters walking around wearing jerseys of their favorite football team or the restaurants all around throwing up crazy scheme their way to spend the night at them watching the match.

Hauz Khas Village seemed to be the best place for us football lovers as the area witnesses totally youth crowd and thus the ambiance overall was bound to be top notch. The area was full of restaurants showing live matches on monster screens besides serving some mind boggling food and booze. The new outlet back to basics seemed to us the best bet among the rest as the seat right in front of the giant screen was vacant there. Fortunately for us, the match was one of the best ever making the night one to cherish for a long long time.

Just as the match kicked off, so did our meal. We started with the food from the streets a.k.a their chaat corner and ordered for their Masala Peanuts, Bombay Bhelpuri and Palak Patta Chaat alongwith some signature cocktails. The dishes were prepared just like street stalls but served with the flair of a high end restaurant making it a visual delight as well as for the tastebuds. Following these we opted for the Jalapeno Cheese Cigar Rolls, Paneer Tikka and Mushroom Galoutis. The tikka was excellent having soft, chewy and flavorful paneer that went wow with the mint chutney and onion rings. The Cheese Cigar rolls were par excellence as well.Done with the starters and the drinks we ordered for the Tandoori pizza and penne makhni pasta for the mains. The pizza was a cheesy delight but it was the pasta that surpassed it in terms of flavors because of its delicious spicy and creamy makhni sauce.

There is a saying that if you are good with the basics than you have already won half of the race. Seems that this restaurant has covered its basics for good and the outcome is visible in every dish that one orders. It provided us a night worth remembering and I highly recommend that if you are looking for some quality food and service in this area, you must visit back to basics.

Back to Basics has a really good ambience and vibe. We managed to get ourselves a table even though it was a Friday night.

After a quick glance through the bar menu, we felt like trying out the Electric LIIT, about which I've heard rave reviews!

And it did live up to the hype, it was a potent cocktail that tasted great as well. Now that's a combo that you can't say no to! :)

We also ordered some Masala Cheesy Potato Fries, which turned out to be fairly disappointing with respect to both quantity and quality. :(

Back to Basics is a newly-opened restaurant in Hauz Khas Village. This place has spacious interiors, a huge bar, seating done with sofas and benches along with a big TV and a beautiful space for outdoor seating giving a scenic green view. This place is for you, if you are looking for a delicious meal, excellent drinks and a great ambiance. I loved the low lighting setup and great music that made me nostalgic, a perfect place to be enjoyed with friends and family.

From the food menu we had Andhra Prawns were perfectly marinated, well cooked and was soft and juicy.

Tandoori Chicken It was seriously finger licking good. Nicely spiced and cooked till the bone.

Baida roti with kabab is a roll served with mutton kebab, has a crunchy crust and tender mutton filling inside, a delight to eat.

Galouti Kebab is spicy and extremely flavorful.

Their street style chaat and Bombay bhel is a must try.

For the Main course we had Butter chicken and Nizami Mutton Biryani. The butter chicken was delicious and Biryani itself was self sufficient as it had perfect blend of spices and aroma.

The bar menu too gives a good selection of cocktails, beers, and spirits. Express to Espresso and Pina colada are my forever favourite drinks, So from the cocktail list I chose Express to Espresso, a blend of whiskey, with a shot of espresso coffee and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg that makes a perfect texture. Pina colada is a blend of rum, coconut syrup and pineapple juice which again is a beautiful drink, both the cocktails were a perfect blend and brilliantly crafted.

Last but very important is the dessert that is not to be missed from the menu is Jalebi churros with nutella and chocolate sauce they were very light and fluffy and Gulab ki Phirni to was amazing and not too sweet.

This place is a must visit with loved ones, I am in love with this place be it food, ambiance or great music.

Hauz khas village is a destination independent from anyone else and individuals who visit it are not by any means worried about little bothers like stopping, cramped streets, structures without lifts and so on.

Straightforward is yet somewhere else which flourishes to dumbfound you with it's nourishment and administration. I was awed with the sort of music they played all through my quality to this excellent place. It has extremely agreeable and present day style. The sustenance is extraordinary compared to other i have had in quite a while.

Baida roti with mutton seekh - Roti with egg finished with lamb seekh. Liberal bit estimate, seekh cooked to flawlessness.

Chicken tandoori - Everything from the marination, the brilliant fresh skin, delicious chicken cooked all through and the flavors...everything was hit into! This was an unforeseen pleasure as far as the flavors. Get your hands grimy to appreciate this plate of goodness till the last nibble.

Sheep galouti - A great dish and the group here did full equity to it. The dissolve in-the-mouth delightful delicacy was anything but difficult to eat.

Rara gosht - Lamb cooked with keema with a flavorful dish. The dish with sweet-smelling flavors was done in a matter of moments.

Kerala mutton curry - My undisputed top choice in the mains. This was the hero dish with phenomenal south indian flavors.

Gulab phirni - Phirni was the sweet note i was searching for to end my supper here.

Churros jalebi - Such light churros with a home-made chocolate syrup. Pass on, the best ones up until this point.

I will be back here, some time soon.

If you're looking for a place with good music, nice ambience, and great cocktails and food, Back to Basics is a great option.

They have a nice list of interesting cocktails, out of which we tried the Express to Espresso, a concoction of whiskey, espresso, kahlua, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Though whiskey and coffee are both strong flavors, they were nicely balanced to make for a great drink.

We visited for a tasting and started our meal with the Chicken 65, which had spicy and juicy pieces of chicken with a nice crust on the outside, tossed with some fried curry leaves.

The Non-veg Platter had chicken lollypop, mutton seekh kebab, galouti kebab, and tandoori chicken wings. The lollypop had crispy, deep fried chicken drumsticks while the tandoori chicken wings had a mild but flavorsome marinade on them. The mutton seekh kebab was soft, juicy and deftly spiced and the galouti kebab was simply melt-in-the-mouth. However, the ulte tawe ka parantha on which the galouti was served was a tad too oily.

Next, we had Baida Roti with Kebab which consisted of a soft roti blanketed with egg that was nice and fluffy and served with juicy mutton seekh kebab. The combination of the roti and the kebab worked really well.

For mains, we went with Railway Mutton Curry with crispy Lachcha Parantha and Andhra Chicken Curry served with flaky Malabar Parantha. The mutton was nicely cooked, and the gravy was flavorsome without being too spicy. The andhra chicken curry was creamy and had a nice coconut flavor.

We ended the meal with Gulab ki Phirni which was thick, creamy and adequately sweet with a subtle rose petal flavor.

Hauz Khas Village is the perfect party destination in Delhi for me. Not only the outlets here are one of the best but another thing that I love about HKV the most is that there is always a new offering each time I visit. This time around too when I was out with my cousins, we came across yet another new outlet. Back to Basics is a no fuss bar located in the Hauz Khas Village and is currently occupying the location earlier Raasta was operational at. It's a spacious property having both indoor and outdoor seating to choose from according to the mood and the weather.

After settling down we ordered some of their Signature cocktails and Mocktails. Their Tiki Taka cocktail had passion fruit and orange alongwith some angostura bitters in monkey shoulder whiskey. Electric LIIT was truly Lit as it was the strongest of the lot while Paloma had grape juice and soda with tequila. Rum masala was one of the fun drinks we had as it had spiced up dark rum.

For food we first of all ordered various kinds of street food they had on their menu. Bombay bhel was a combination of puffed rice and sev with pomegranate, tomatoes, onion, lime, tamarind and mint. Papri Chaat had crispy poories topped with potato, mint chutney, yoghurt and sev, garnished with pomegranate. After that we ordered one of the softest and tastiest mushroom galauti alongwith a spicy version of paneer tikka. All dishes were quite nice and very well balanced in terms of taste and presentation.

After having such amazing start we decided to try few more of their dishes and ordered for their pizza and pasta. The pizza was amazing with loads of cheese on top of it. Pasta tasted quite good as well and was served with crunchy garlic bread.

All in all I had a great time @Back to basics.

This newly opened place in hkv is really good. Although it doesn't match up its name, i.e. there is nothing basic about this place, it is still worth going because of its music and food. If you like spicy food, you must try tandoori Momos and honey chilly potato. If you are a non veg lover, try non veg platter. Heard good about it from my colleagues.

With its energetic vibes, variety of outlet options available and a crowd totally comprising of youth, Hauz Khas was undoubtedly my pick for watching the "baap" of all matches - finals of the recently concluded Fifa World Cup 2018. Having already watched group stage and QF, SF matches in bars at CP and Punjabi Bagh, I was fed up of the same ol' song and dance routine these places provide wherein you ask the servers to put on the football match at the giant screen which then abruptly gets changed to cricket after a group of uncles sitting in the corner get sloshed on cheap booze and suddenly realize that they own the screen. After bearing this nonsense throughout the world cup, I was in no mood to let the same experience ruin the biggest match of the cup and so decided to look for options available elsewhere, no matter how far the area be from my place. As evident from the first line of the review, HKV 'twas.

To be honest, I went to the outlet looking for Raasta as I was in love with the cocktails they used to offer. Turned out they had shifted elsewhere and instead the same team had brought this new offering in its place that went by the name, Back to basics. Now you don't need no Sherlock to understand what the theme of the place is going to be and since we were not looking for some glitzy food but were more interested in some drinks and comfort food while watching the game so the place seemed to cater to our wishes to the T.

The decor of the place has been given a complete makeover as the earlier occupant had theme based on Rastafarian culture and thus was designed accordingly as a tribute to that as well as to the face of that culture, the legendary Bob Marley. Now the place has been revamped getting rid of all the graffiti and stuff and makes you feel as if a hippie has been given a bath and a shave and who now sports a suit wearing gentleman's look.

Not to shift the focus from the match to the food, the first round of order was kept fairly simple, few of their signature cocktails and some basic munchies like bombay bhel, papri chaat and of course, where there is drinks, there is masala peanuts. A friend of mine accompanying me has always regarded cocktails to be a "weaker" stuff and the mention of Electric LIIT in the bar menu provided me a rare opportunity to shut him up. 15mins. into the match and one drink down, this potent combination of 5 kind of spirits had him reeling and ultimately kept him mum for a long time :D
The popular street food items that we had ordered were given the right treatment by the kitchen staff here and we were spared the usual explosion of spices that one experiences while having them at street stalls. Instead the dishes were mildly spiced which made for a great accompaniment to the drinks.

With both France and our hunger surging, we ordered for a round of some of other classic bar bites, namely paneer tikka, mushroom galauti and jalapeno rolls. Out of these, the jalapeno cheese cigar rolls stole the limelight with its just the right amount of cheese-veggies ratio in the filling. As if the dish wasn't flavorful enough on its own, the accompanying dip further enhanced the taste of the dish.

With match done and dusted at the hours mark, we turned our attention to our about to rebel bellies and ordered for two of the most filling items on the menu - pizza and the pasta. The tandoori mushroom pizza turned out to be a cheesy delight. Infact there was so much cheese on it that even the topping of mushroom and capsicum seemed covered in another layer of cheese. For pasta, we ditched the classic red or white sauce version and opted for a "desi' twist to this "videsi" dish by ordering the penne makhani. The penne arrived being prepared in a sauce used for paneer makhani and had an amazing mildly spiced, creamy, rich taste to it.

With the final scoreline of 4-2 in favor of France as well as the sad faces of Croatia supporters on the table next to ours, leaving enough sweet taste in our mouths, we decided to skip the desserts and roam around the streets a bit enjoying the mini celebrations going on here and there.

With its delicious food and amazing cocktails, Back to basics provided us a night to remember.
A must visit place!!!

Whether I’m looking for a place to binge drink with friends or a place to party and dance the night away, hauz Khas is one area that always pops into the my mind. No wonder the area gets featured in many movies as the range of cafes here and variety of dishes on offer here is unparalled.

Everytime I hear of some new place opening up in this area, I know I just have to try it out. This weekend it was the turn of this new outlet, Back to basics. The place has been nicely designed and has ample seating to accommodate any kind of group, big or small. The place has outdoor seating as well which is preferable during the night time.

Coming to the F&B part, we ordered many of their signature cocktails out of which I really liked the Electric LIIT which was a deadly combination of 5 different type of spirits. We tried various types of chaat here and liked them all. Other than that their pizza and pastas were ordered as well and they too turned out to be finger licking good.

All in all, I had a blast here and a visit here is highly recommended.

Back to basics is an amazing option to dine in with your friends . As the name says- BASICS- this place serves no nonsense food gimmicks- simple tasty food which is full of flavours. I had one of the best tasting meals here. Perfectly delicious and bursting with flavors. The outdoor seating is beautiful with greenery around and the music groovy . Indoors, there is low light. Their menu is extensive -ranging from pizza to papri chaat to dal makhani. The staff is attentive & courteous.

Coming to food, We started off with bhelpuri and papri chaat . Bhelpuri was crunchy -Puffed rice and sev tossed with onions, chatpata masalas and chutneys-totally loved the flavours. Papri chaat was another amazing prep which was bursting with teekha flavours. Afghaani momos were also delicous and filling was yummy. For main course, we had pizza and pasta. Margherita pizza was a thin crust pizza with perfectly cooked base and fresh toppings. Paneer makhani pasta was creamy had tangy taste. Dal makhani was also rich in taste and buttery. Overall I had a great experience- here food will certainly make you drool.
I am sure your tastebuds won't be disappointed.

Back to Basics dishes out some incredibly good, with the added bonus of an amazing collection of songs. The place has a nice, casual and chilled out vibe and makes for a great place to kick back with a few drinks and food.
I had the following dishes -
1.Keema Parantha - The Keema Parantha was brilliant. It comes with a big dollop of butter and the keema filling inside was really nice.
2.Andhra Prawns - The Prawns have a slightly crispy texture and are tossed in curry leaves, making them an absolute delight.
3.Hariyali Chicken - The Hariyali chicken with butter naan will surely give you a foodgasm.
4.Nizami Mutton Biryani - The Biryani was power packed with flavour and wasn't overly spicy.
5. Jalebi Churros - The Jalebi churros were freshly fried, topped with cinnamon and sugar and dipped in nutella and chocolate sauce, tasted amazing.

Opening its doors at where 'Raasta' HKV used to entertain its patrons, is the new 'Back to Basics'. The place has been re-done completely which now hosts a huge bar, seating done up with casual sofas and ol' school benches and a huge space for outdoor seating. With the lighting low and music wafting nostalgic memories, a place best enjoyed with friends.
The menu is quintessential and the bar has some interesting classic mixes. Ranging from North-Indian to South-Indian, from street style chaats to the bombay bhel, from Pizzas to pastas, they have it all covered.
Coming to the food that we ordered was as below-
For the starters we tried-
Chicken 65
Kasundi fish tikka
Baida roti with kebab
Chilli fish dry

We loved the preparation of Chicken 65 and Kasundi fish tikka - nothing fancy just flavorsome.
The baida roti is a basically an egg roll served with mutton kebab, a delight to look at and eat.

For the mains we ordered the below-
Konji chicken fry served with Malabar paratha - i loved the combination because the malabar paratha induced a right amount of balance to the spicy tossed konji chicken. Its a must try.

They say that they prepare the best Dal makhani and Butter chicken and we couldnt help ourselves and ordered the same. Words said true, i havent had a better dal makhani that i had here. The butter chciken was delicious and i can just have it yet over again.

Desserts-
Gulab ki Phirni and Jalebi churros were the choice of desserts and i must say a good meal ended in a sweet note. Would recommend to try the Jalebi churros which are served with nutella and chocolate sauce. I loved them.

Recently opened up in Hauz Khas Village, Back to Basics is like a breath of fresh air in the vicinity- a place which focusses on no nonsense presentation but only food. With a lot of places experimenting with plating and molecular gastronomy these days, no one seems to be focusing on how the food tastes but Back to Basics is one place which will give you a number of options to try from and serve delicious food.

Both the food and drinks menu are quite elaborate serving North Indian, South Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines. The food menu ranges from Salads to appetizers, paranthas, pizzas, pasta, main course and desserts.

My recommended dishes here are: -

1. Bombay Bhel

2. Papri Chaat

3. Tandoori Momos

4. Veg Platter- Mushroom Galouti, Paneer Tikka, Honey Chili Potato and Cheese Cigars

5. Margherita Pizza

6. Dal Makhni with Roti

Apart from food menu- even the drinks menu is quite elaborate. My recommended drinks here are Whisky Sour and Tiki Taka.

In a nutshell, Back to Basics is a perfect place to visit with friends for some good food, drinks and music.

Within the plethora of restaurants in HKV, Back To Basics is the newest entrant - at the same place where Raasta used to be before. True to it's name, it does everything to justify the inclination towards basics - the well forgotten base of our lives.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and found a place easily. The outer section is the smoking zone. The ambiance is good and the music is a combination of awesome collection of unplugged by the DJ, which changes to bollywood numbers in the evening we hear. There is also some live music nights happening as mentioned on the flyers on the tables.

Coming to food, we loved the Kasundi Fish Tikka - the simplest of flavors in the juiciest of fish fillets - we loved it to the core. Chicken 65 is very close to the original - spicy, crispy and juicy bite sized chicken with the tadka of curry leaves and mustard. Baida Roti with Kebab brings a melt in the mouth kebab on a anda parantha (i would like to call it that) - basically an open roll, the spices in the kebab is what makes this dish likeable.

From the South Indian specials we have tried Fish Fry and Konji Chicken Fry - which have more or less the similar taste, the former missed the onion, chillies etc - both of them wonderful on the palate.

From the mains - we have tried Lal Maas - very close to authentic, just needs a little more kick of the chilli. Dal Makhani is one of the best we have had and we can have it on its own, no doubt. Same thing with butter chicken - definitely in our list of best butter chickens and we will go there again for just that, and the dal :)

Must try their Gulab Ki Phirni, which makes a nice dessert after a sinful meal.

I recently visited this newly opened outlet in HKV for lunch. As the name suggests, this place is about basic yet delicious food. I preferred the outdoor seating and it was my haunt for the day. In cocktails I tried Tiki Taka, Dark and Stormy, Electric LIIT, Express to Espresso, Supernatural and Spicy Tamarind Cooler. Supernatural and Tiki Taka would be my pick out of these and are recommended.

Coming to the food, I ordered Tandoori Chicken Momos, Andhra Prawns, Chicken 65, Mutton Galauti and Baida Roti with Kebab. All the dishes tasted really delicious but my absolute favourites were Chicken 65 and Mutton Galauti and are highly recommended. Next came the Non Veg Platter which included Chicken Lollipop, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Galauti Kebab and Tandoori Chicken Wings. I think this platter is the best thing that you can order with your drinks.

In main course I ordered Nizami Mutton Biryani, Andhra Chicken Curry, Kerala Mutton Curry and all these were served with steamed rice and parotta. The Kerala Mutton Curry was the highlight of the main course for me and is recommended. That being said the rest of the dishes tasted really good as well.

In desserts I ate Gulab Phirni and Churros. The churros had an oily aftertaste to it but the phirni was quite good. Summing up, I had a nice lunch at this place, and I would recommend you to specifically try the South Indian dishes from their menu.

Hauz Khas Village gets a new place and it was an excuse for us to check it out. We decided to be there for lunch and check it out. A warm ambience with ample amount of space welcomed us. And after we were comfortably seated, we decided to place our order. For most of the dishes, we went ahead with the chef's recommendation.

Chicken Momos Steamed
Galauti Kebabs
Seekh Kebabs
Chicken 65
Peperoni Pizza
Laal Maas with Rice
Railway Mutton Curry with breads

We started our lunch with a few Chicken Momos. And I won't be wrong, if I say that these were amongst the juiciest momos I had in a long time. Generous amount of chicken filling, juicy and quite delicious. Loved them. Next, the Galauti kebabs, were simply melt in mouth. Along with the paranthas, it was a delicious combination. Another good preparation. Moving ahead, the seekh kebabs weren't bad. They were almost at par in taste quotient with the galauti kebabs. Talking about the Chicken 65, it was a decent preparation, but I missed the signature sting of Andhra cuisine. Nonetheless, it was an okay dish.
Moving ahead to Laal Maas, being my favourite mutton recipe, I will be a bit critical about it. There was a bit of bitter after taste to the dish. Something I believe shouldn't be there. Maybe, it was because the mirchies used are not the ones am used to, in Laal Maas. The Railway Mutton was a delectable preparation. Juicy, well cooked chunks of mutton in a mildly spiced gravy. Loved every bite of it. Go for it.
Overall, it's a place that serves the basic, staple recipes in delightfully delicious avatars. Maybe, I will be back here, some time soon.

Lovely place to enjoy any day. The quotes on the wall makes the ambience catchy and to add to it was music comforting us. You can choose to sit outside as well to enjoy the green view from their balcony area. Started the day with papdi chaat which was super yummy. Anyday i can leave the roadside chaat for their papdi chat. Then we had crispy fish fingers and chips with homemade tarter dip, andhra prawns were crispy as well as full of southern flavors and the gol boti was juicy mutton from inside and crispy from outside best served with their homemade mint sauce. Their bestseller and speciality is their mutton galauti kebabs with ulta tawa paranthas. It melts in mouth as expected from galauti kebabs but at the same time it was full of authentic spices. Then we had tandoori momos unlike other places they had less marinated momos and the filling was juicy. Ordered their baida roti which is mutton filled paranthas with egg over the parantha. To gulp down our food we tried loads of drinks from their classic mojito to watermelon mojito and cosmopolitan but the the eye catcher was the supernatural from their cocktails menu. Back to basics is giving you a wide variety of tasty food and drinks on a basic price doing justice to their name.

I honestly believe, we in Delhi are witnessing so many concepts as far as restaurants are concerned. But sometimes these innovative concepts do fade away and you need a place which excels in basics of restaurant industry. This new restaurant in Hauz khas village is exactly the place for you if you are looking for a delicious meal, excellent service and a great ambiance. All in all it is a complete package.

It’s a new restaurant and we visited this place on weekday lunch, still the eatery had a decent crowd. The menu has all the familiar names, which one would like from varied cuisines. The bar set up is huge; the place is given a rustic, dim lit area with ample sitting with an attached outdoor area giving a scenic green view.  The menu has all the familiar names, which one would like from varied cuisines. The bar menu too gives a good selection of cocktails, beers, and spirits. From the cocktail list we chose EXPRESS TO ESPRESSO, a blend of whiskey, kahlua, with a shot of espresso coffee and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Also loved the signature TIKI TAKA, a concoction of monkey shoulder whiskey combined with passion fruit syrup, garnished with a red orange and a dash of angostura bitters. Honestly both the cocktails were brilliantly crafted.

From the starters menu one must not miss the TANDOORI CHICKEN, it was perfectly marinated, nicely spiced and cooked till the bone. It was seriously finger licking good. The GALOUTI KEBAB, a bit though spicy side was extremely flavourful. From the mains, not to be missed is the RAHRA MUTTON, soft and juicy lamb wrapped up in keema, served with a crispy tandoori parantha. The south Indian dish, KERELA MUTTON CURRY WITH MALABARI PAROTTA too was a hit. The gravy had a perfect south Indian touch and the lamb too was nicely marinated. The dessert not to be missed from the menu is JALEBI CHURROS WITH NUTELLA and CHOCOLATE SAUCE. Quite different than the regular churros, they were very light and fluffy and certainly not overly sweet.

I feel places like back to basics will be an instant hit, because they offer something which connects, with all age groups. Back to basics will also elate the dining scene of the hauz khas village which is now getting faded with time. A must visit place with your friends and family for sure.

Must try:  Tiki Taka

                   Tandoori Chicken

                   Rahra Mutton

Jalebi churros with nutella and chocolate sauce

HKV has a new entrant - Back to Basics by Raasta. It's opened where Raasta was, is spacious & well made.

The staff is courteous & attentive and the menu has quite a lot of options to choose from.

The Bartender is the best you'd ever find as the drinks are spot on. Everything we tried was perfectly balanced, had the right amount of alcohol a cocktail should have and the blends are well thought of.

My favourite drink was a cocktail presented in a bong - Supernatural. This was huge! Absolutely enough to equalise any 3 cocktails. The basic flavour was menthol and basic spirit was vodka, along with Gin, Brandy & 7up.

Coming to food, the fish fingers and chicken Momos were yumm! What stole my heart was the baida roti & seekh Kebabs. sinful!
What you can't miss here in their papdi chaat and the churros; They were absolutely delicious!

One can easily plan an outing with friends and go partying here. There's ample space to dance and the DJ console is huge.

You shouldn't miss this one.

Happy Eating!

Went here for lunch recently, and had a great experience.
The place is spacious, and you have an option of both indoor and outdoor seating.

Andhra Prawns:
The Quantity is good and these are made to perfection.

Baida Roti with Mutton Seekh
A roti with Omlette and Mutton Seekh. This was super delicious and if just one person is ordering it, you don't need to order anything else. It is quite filling.

Mutton Galouti
These were melt-in-the-mouth! Loved them!

Papdi Chaat
Favorite! Such a burst of flavours. Definitely order this one.

Supernatural
A drink served in a bong, looks very interesting and tastes wonderful too. Loved the experiment with Menthol.

Fish Fingers
Crispy and delicious!

Back to Basics is a newly-opened restaurant in HKV. Loved the spacious interiors and the vibe about the place. The food was surprisingly good and I am definitely coming back for more!

I tried the following:

BAIDA ROTI WITH MUTTON SEEKH
Roti with egg topped with mutton seekh. Generous portion size, seekh cooked to perfection.
CHICKEN TANDOORI
Everything from the marination, the golden crisp skin, juicy chicken cooked throughout and the flavors...everything was bang on! This was a welcome surprise in terms of the flavors. Get your hands dirty to enjoy this plate of goodness till the last bite!
MUTTON GALOUTI
A classic dish and the team here did full justice to it. The melt-in-the-mouth delicious delicacy was easy to eat.
RARA GOSHT
Mutton cooked with keema with a delicious dish.  The dish with aromatic flavors was finished in no time.
KERALA MUTTON CURRY
My personal favorite in the mains. This was the HERO dish with excellent South Indian flavors.
GULAB PHIRNI
Phirni was the sweet note I was looking for to end my meal here.
CHURROS JALEBI
Such light churros with a home-made chocolate syrup. Hands down, the best ones so far!
EXPRESS TO EXPRESSO

Whisky with espresso and a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon was excellent. Coffee and whisky in one glass!

TIKI TAKA

Whisky based cocktail with passion fruit syrup, blood orange on top served in a super cute glass. Recommend this one!

Back to Basics is in the heart of the city at Hauz Khas Village. It has very comfortable and modern décor. The food is one of the best I have had in a long time. We had the Keema Parantha, it was delicious with spicy Keema mix inside. A must try is the Gol Boti Kebab it is from the leg of spring lamb marinated overnight with Indian spices and pan tossed in ginger and garlic. It just melts in your mouth. Also in starters you must try the Andhra Prawns they are marinated with curry leaves and brown onions. The taste of the Prawns are spot on with the right Andhra flavours. In chicken you must try the Konji Chicken Fry it is pan tossed chicken with onion and green chilli and curry leaves.

In the drinks you must try the Tiki Taka it has Whiskey with Passion fruit Syrup and pineapple juice, blood orange and angostura bitters.

In the dessert don’t miss the Gulab Jamun and the Gulab ki Phirni.

The Restaurant has a café feel in the day and a club feel at night. The DJ plays dancing numbers in evening and mellow numbers in afternoon.

It has a beautiful open area too to enjoy the weather and have a great time.

A great place to come with family and friends.

Rating: 5/5

Back to basics is yet another place which thrives to astonish you with it’s food and service. I was impressed with the kind of music they played throughout my presence to this beautiful place.
This place really has some mouth watering food to offer. It might seem to be the same but believe me until you eat them.

To start with We have ordered
Masala nuts along with Mushroom Galouti and Andhra Prawns.

The Masala peanut was an absolute snack which accompanied drinks very well. In addition to that Mushroom Galouti has taken me by surprise. Soft and tender with slightly sweet and perfectly fried these kebabs were heaven.
On the other hand Andhra Prawns had so much more to it. The caramelised onion was adding a sweet texture and a flavour.

Just to balance this we had ordered Veg Ceaser Salad. It was light super fresh veggies and some fruits were added to give it a nice taste.

Gol boti kebab was again another marvel by the chef as to make this it has to be marinated and cooked for several hours. The lamb was so tender that it melted in mouth.

This place has a wide menu to offer. I would highly recommend this place for everyone.

The Latest New Kid On The Block is this Restaurant which has come up in place of the old Raasta, which has relocated to Aurobindo Marg.
Hauz Khas Village is a Destination by itself and people who visit it are not really concerned about small inconveniences like parking, cramped roads, buildings without lifts etc. They come for the vibe and are all set to enjoy, when they visit
I was there, with friends, recently and had a great time.
The Restaurant has Seating in both an Inside section, where the Dance Floor is, as well as a more airy and partially Open to Sky section, outside.
We sat inside and were quite satisfied with the Ambiance and the Music, in general.

As we wanted to eat Snacky and enjoy our Drinks and the Music we ordered a number of snacks and drinks. The Outstanding Appetizers were :
1. Galouti Kababs (Mutton) ... Rs. 425/= per portion
2. Fried Chicken Wings Basket ... Rs. 325/=
3. Subz Hariyali Kabab ... Rs. 355/= and
4. Jalapeno Cheese Cigars ... Rs. 395/= but the Real Star, amongst the Appetizers was ...
Keshundi Fish Tikka which was simply super !! .. Rs.475/=

We also had the Penne Alfredo (Rs. 425/=) which was truly awesome!!

To round of the Food, some of us had the Laal Maas (475/=) and the Indian Bread Basket (Rs. 155/=) which, again, were very well made.

Finally, to satiate our Sweet Tooths we had an Off Menu item ... Churros with Chocolate Sauce which was amazing.

We also thoroughly enjoyed
1. Rum Masala Cocktail ... Rs. 425/= and
2. Tiki Taka Cocktail .... Rs. 695/=

This Restaurant is a great hangout place with a Super Ambiance, Good Music, Awesome Food and Drinks and Good Service.

Highly Recommended
(Please bear in mind that they charge 10% Service Charge plus the usual government taxes)

Yesterday i went to HKV after almost a year . This place has several memories with me as i had celebrated my birthdays when it was Raasta . Apparently the same team have opened up this Pub “ Back to Basics” . Ambiance is rustic with a neat bar . Although they have limited basic cocktails but have varieties of alcohol.
. Food menu is a mix of pan Asian and Indian cuisine . As it was lunch time , i preferred a Mojito with mango and chilli flavour . In food i had Chicken 65 , Andhra Prawns and chicken Satay as starters . Crispy curry leaves on chicken and prawns were very refreshing for the weather . In main course i had railway mutton curry with rice which was again very soothing for the weather . Curry was well balanced with spices and flavours . If you go to BTB, never forget to order their gulab phirni which has a very mild aroma of rose and not so sweet dessert. Yesterday i was lucky to get a taste of Churoz with their in-house chocolate sauce and Nutella , which they are soon going to introduce into their menu . Generally i dnt eat churoz as i get bad smell of oil but first time i loved churoz with chocolate at this place . They have shaped it like jalebi , and it was very soft and i preferred to have it With their gooey chocolate sauce . Overall i had a good experience and would like to go again .

Back to basics opened in HKV with a bang, the old raasta has turned into a more pocket friendly place and it holds the same vibes what raasta did. The DJ was amazing and their food was ecstatic. Tandoori wings, mutton pizza, pepperoni Pizza, egg parantha and what not, the food was delicious and kept on tickling our palate craving for more. Star of the night was their fish tossed in oriental sauce and prawns which were mind blowing. A must visit place and it is definitely a light of hope in degenerating HKV. Amazing eve and thanks to the team. Kudos.
