Situated right in the center of Noida sector-18 market, near Mc Donald’s, Burbee’s Cafe is the new kid on the block and is gradually gaining admiration. The decor of the cafe will click well with the youngsters as each table is done up quite proficiently, with auxiliary wall art. A well-lit poster of Harry Potter's flying Ford Anglia, a wall art of human chain, a rustic wooden bench with a night lamp, a wall dedicated to music lovers and posters displaying cityscape add to the voguish look of the cafe.
Burbee's, is an American Cafe, owned by a young couple - an IT'ian and a Media Professional. Opened few months ago, this cafe serves authentic European, Continental & American Cuisine in the heart of Noida at Sector 18 hub. The young couple Mr. Lakshman & Mrs. Kirti Singh, very fond of food are driven by their passion of serving people. No matter what time of the day or night you visit Burbee’s, one or the other of them will always be there. It makes a huge difference, as you can ask for simple additions or subtractions to your food and you can be sure your order will be understood.
A few days ago, I was lucky to be invited for a food review. Covering the 1st and 2nd floor of the building, Burbee’s is an ideal space where you can meet friends, spend a good time with your loved ones, work on your laptop or even conduct meetings. I decided to dine on the 2nd floor and soon as I entered, a smiling staff who was exuding warmth, Mr. Sandeep greeted us, and escorted me and my friend to the corner table near the window, decorated with flower bed. We were handed over our menus, wherein one large menu contains food best suited for a quick snack, whereas the smaller one consists of mains. Our server Sandeep was really friendly and knew the menu well enough, he was extremely suggestive and made recommendations when asked. While we were deciding on what to order, Mr. Lakshman came by and introduced himself. He asked us to continue with our meal and that he would come back and chat once we are with our lunch.
The interiors mesmerize and entertain with colorful decor which makes it even more enthralling and dynamic. Walls are decorated with state-of-the-art sketches including the Metro Route to the Cafe, Posters, Postcards, Guitar, Murals made by an artist, Vintage merchandise on the shelves (little cooker, iron), a garden bench neatly devoted for the people who have to wait (giving the English look), book shelves, Dekh Bhai quotes framed, funny drawings and other basic things to give a chic friendly modern look.
So after browsing through the tempting menu we finally decided on:
Burbee’s non vegetarian sampler( Rs. 249) – a sampler with two pieces each of sundried tomato and chicken bruschetta, sautéed prawns in ginger garlic sauce and chilli, garlic and cheese chicken sausage. The portion was small, offering a variety to taste yet not making one feel full. The bruschetta was perfectly toasted and the chicken chunks were moist, combined with the tanginess of the sundried tomatoes, the bruschetta was a hit, two shrimps- well cooked with the requisite bite to it, sautéed in ginger garlic sauce was delicious, and lastly mini chicken sausage, tossed in butter and topped with bell peppers and cheese, though was juicy but slightly bland for my palate. The sampler was great, though I craved to have more of the prawns and bruschetta.
Chicken and cheese ravioli (Rs. 369) – unlike other places, Burbee’s serves rectangular shaped ravioli, it was cooked al dente and due to its shape the filling was spread out evenly. The chicken and cheese filling was delicious and every bite we got a mouthful, the creamy pesto sauces surrounding it was just delicious, smooth and flavorsome. Absolutely loved the dish, each spoonful was packed with flavors and textures.
Rosemary chicken (Rs. 399) – grilled chicken breast served with mashed potato , sautéed vegetables in red wine jus and a slice of freshly baked bread. The chicken breast was soft and succulent, covered with black pepper, chunks of garlic, drizzled over with the jus was surprisingly tasty, mashed potato were creamy and the veggies seasoned well. The bread had garlic butter spread over it, it was soft and went well with the dish.
Oven toasted fish (Rs. 399) – roasted fish with spaghetti in plum tomato sauce, mashed potato, grilled vegetable and a slice of bread. They use Basa, the fish fillet was extremely soft, succulent, juicy, moist. It perfectly melted in my mouth, drizzled with lemon butter sauce, which was sweet and tangy, and coated with garlic chunks. The mashed potato was creamy and smooth, the veggies were grilled and seasoned well, the bread was soft, the spaghetti was cooked well in plum and tomato sauce, though the combination did not please me much and I devoured everything else apart from the spaghetti.
Their portion size is huge, hearty and screams comfort; everything is close to authentic and delicious. Special attention is paid to every plate the leaves the kitchen a special applause for their chef Mr. Ganesh, his love for food is reflected in the food served.
To gulp it all down and beat the heat we ordered:
Watermelon mojito (Rs. 139) – a pretty looking refreshing drink made of cool watermelon crush, with tiny chunks of lemon, was fizzy and delicious, slightly sweet, slightly citric, just perfect!!
Spicy tangy (Rs. 139) – a green chili based drink, though you won’t get the spice in the first sip, but thereafter one can definitely feel the punch, an amalgamation of coriander, green chili, chaat masala, sprite and crushed ice was just perfect, spicy and thirst quenching.
And last but not the least, to end the journey on a sweet note, we wanted to order tiramisu, but unfortunately they were out of it, so we were suggested to try their brownies and am so glad we did.
Chocolate and walnut brownie (Rs. 179) – warm home baked super soft, chocolate brownies, they were so delicate that every spoonful dissolved in our mouth right away, topped with walnut to add to the texture and drizzled with chocolate sauce, it was one of the BEST brownie I had in a long time.
While we were busy indulging in the chocolaty brownie, Mr. Lakshman joined us and spoke about his love and passion for food, both him and his wife are the sole people responsible for designing the entire concept, I must applaud the creative eye and the attention to details. They have thoughtfully and artistically crafted everything, be it the music, the décor, the ambiance or the menu!! Infact their reason behind the name Burbee’s, which am sure most of you are intrigued about, is also thoughtful. They take proud in satiating every one with the deliciously pleasing food, and guarantee that everyone leaves with a satisfied smile and belly, hence burping, but as it’s not such a social charm, they turned the p upside down and hence the name Burbee’s :-P Mr. Lakshman is a great person, I hope to meet Mrs. Kirti soon on my next visit, a great place for people of all kind to enjoy a hearty meal.
