A very homely cosy little place. Pocket friendly with very courteous staff. The food is freshly prepared and has the authentic taste of Goa. The soroptel, pork sausage fry, sausage bread, squid garlic butter fry are some of the dishes we ate on several occasions. A place you should visit when in Panjim.

The best butter garlic squids i have ever had in goa. Chonak fry and mussels were also prepared in goan style. George is a must visit restaurant if you are around Panaji and it's been a every year ritual for me to come here. Do ask for Uraq in case it is May-July. Patron at the AC section is very kind and energetic. Don't expect a good ambience but typical goan food and drinks will not fail to impress you.

George is am old favorite down in Panjim. Some good old Goan food at this no nonsense restaurant is a must if you are in Panjim and need a quick bite. We had Pork Chilli Fry, Rava fried Chonak, Prawn Curry Rice. Needless to say between the two of us we did over order but did not regret it. That's if you don't count the sleepiness ij our meeting straight after :)

Wow!! Highly recommended place to all tourists to have the orginal taste of goa with a menu which represents goan cuisine and also a bar with limited options...ita a small cosy place and which helps to be peace and neat and hygienic...right opposite to the famous Mary immaculate conception chruch....for me 6star for food and service

Located opposite the Mary Immaculate Conception Church or more conveniently known as Panjim Church, George appears to be a popular diner with the locals. Not much of a fancy place, we resort to dine at a restaurant more local than popular so in we saunter into the cooled interior of the air conditioned room on the mezzanine that houses just about 7 tables and 6 chairs each.

This is no room with a view and the decor is simple and plain.

The absolutely chilled Budweisers, at ₹80 a pint are a steal and my son and I have downed 4 and a Kingfisher Mild at ₹65 between the two of us!

The Kingfish Masala Fry (₹450) is a treat; absolutely fresh and well marinated in Goa's delightful recheado masala and fried... compliments the pint very well... but overpriced.

Pork Chilly Fry (₹230) is quite disappointing and has more of onion, tomatoes and capsicum to give a little texture and body to the preparation in which it is cooked and very few chunks of the meat, more for lip service.

The Beef Roast Fry (₹230) also appears to be cooked in a similar way like the chilly fry, but somehow is better in taste and portions of meat.

Crispy Chicken (₹190) has tender meat and also quite good to taste although I am sure a little masala would definitely spruce up the taste.

King Prawns Butter Garlic (₹400) is ok for six pieces but definitely fresh, succulent and a taste bud tantalizer.

Actually although I fail to understand why the sea catch is so costly in Goa, I nevertheless decide to let the family feast on Goan culinary while on a vacation and not let the prices discourage them.

My daughter's all time favourite - Chicken Fried Rice (₹200) is very ordinary but the best is the-

Pork Vindalho (₹230) with Plain Rice (₹90)! It has been quite sometime since I last enjoyed the taste of another of Goa's popular masala and the Vindalho brings back fond memories of my childhood.

Last but not the least, my wife, who seems to have developed a taste for caramel, once again chooses to order a Caramel Pudding (₹100) which tasted like... well... caramel pudding... Nothing different. No change in texture.

George must learn a lesson or two from Terry's for better taste, better quality and definitely better pricing.

Parking can be tricky and I have Nanded to find solace for my car opposite the building of the Directorate of Accounts; a stone's throw away from the church.

The bill is a disappointing ₹3000... Not as impressive as Terry's in ambience, quality, taste, service and price.

The restaurant has an old and cozy vibe to it. They serve authentic Goan food which tastes great. There are a few problems though, such as extremely slow service. It can also be difficult to get a seat during peak hours, but that's not exactly a problem. It situated in a great location too. Would recommend eating here if you are close by.

Located on the footsteps of the Immaculate conception Church, the place cannot be missed. Try their Chiros Pav, Beef roast and chilled beer. It makes for a perfect meal.

Love this place for its beef steaks!! Old is gold holds true here. The only hikkup I had this place was that they don't take card( idk if it is changed now) else it is a good place for a good steak.

Enjoyed the mussel rava fry and the Goan prawn curry. Great taste and awesome value.

Prawn chilli fry was not so great... it was sweet...apparently they add tomato sauce to quicken caramelisation of the onions... definitely not the way we make it at home.

Great value food, goes well with a couple of beers..though avoid the chilli fry, unless you like it sweet.

Situated right next to the Mary Immaculate church in Panjim, you'll usually find this place packed and people waiting for tables. We were lucky though, as we reached a little early. This place is a favorite in the family, and my brothers had been raving about the food here. So I was looking forward to a yummy meal.
For starters we ordered finger chips and papad wrapped prawns. The finger chips were perfect, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The papad prawns were alright, a little too oily but flavorful. We then ordered sausage pulao and mutton xacuti. The sausage pulao I was informed is kind of legendary. But the pulao we got wasn't so, the flavour was good but it was too dry. Maybe they had an off day. Mutton xacuti was really yum. Overall it was a nice afternoon meal with good Goan food.

Best place for Goan food. If you love Goan food or want to try something delicious, this is the place to go. Right next to Panjim Church, I visited this place with my cousins for lunch. They serve a great variety of beef and pork items. Not recommended if you're looking for a veg restaurant. I had the best sausage pulav at this place. Would love to go back for more great food!

George's is at a walkable distance from Panjin church. Yeah, right next to it. It's a good size family restaurant, with a small bar and a dim seating on top, It serves some of the best steak, known for beef stuff and specially goan dishes. If you are not a meat rat, I don't recommend this place.
Had some of the best steak in Goa at George. Worth a visit. They have Chinese too.

All I think when I hear George bar is meat. Although people may tell you to have their sea food, I really didn't quiet like it. But their steaks and their cream fired beef chop, croquets to their pork chilly fry are simply exquisite.

And their upstairs is quite private. However if the place is crowded the upstairs gets quiet stuffy.

We got really lucky u're in Panjim...you HAVE to eat here...seriously...HAVE TO... when we found this place... Just roaming around near MGRoad looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this place with the most gorgeous pork pepper fry I have had in a loooooong time!

Fantastic Food...Fantastic Prices...
Quick service...
Absolutely wonderful...!!

This isn't a place for a romantic dinner... Oh no no... This is a place you pay homage to amazing sea food dishes and pork preparations...

Seriously... If you visit Panjim...you HAVE to eat here...Seriously... YOU HAVE TO!

After visiting Panjim Church we stopped here for lunch. Little did we know that there would be crowd and we'd have to wait for most than half an hr to get a table.
We did get one beside the bar and the staircase to the A/C room which was bit too conjusted.
Sausage Rice is the best I have had in goa.
It surely a must have. Besides that the Sorpotel was the typical goan cursine, another amazing dish.
It surely gives you the authentic feel of Goan food here.
Service may be a little slow but the food they serve makes up for it.
You would have to wait for a table here spare atleast half an hr.

This place is just next to the famous church. The place is mostly visited by locals. If you want to try local goan food, then this is the place. They have limited space, so please ensure you reach early. There is AC seating on the first floor. The place like other restaurants in Goa close by 10.30 (10 pm last order). The Food is delicious. The decor is ok, nothing great. The place can sometimes smell of too much alcohol due to the cramped interiors. Service is decent, our food came pretty early. Pricing is like any other place in Goa.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the church nearby and was not disappointed.

We were a touch late for lunch, and all they had left was Prawn Curry & Rice and Sausage Pulao, both of which were very good and great value for money. I felt the prawn curry could have had more prawn in it, likewise for the Sausage Pulao.

Nevertheless, a great place for a cheap authentic Goan meal enjoyed with a few pints.

This is a really conveniently located place in the centre of Panjim right next to the Panjim Church. This is a no frills restaurant. Quaint furniture, a bit cramped.
They play soft Jazz..People sitting all around you. But it doesn't give you a poky feeling or being claustrophobic.

Dont miss the Pork Vindalho; Love it.
Try their Bombil fry as well.
Range of dishes but stick to the Goan ones..And of course a good cold beer

A value-for-money place. What struck me was the number of local elderly couples visiting the place. The upper A/C floor may be better for family. This is a place for Goan food - pork, beef, fish, beer. But the truth is I absolutely loved the dal fry. Visited in Sep 15. Will visit again, sure.

I dine at this restaurant regularly, at least 3 times a week. Being Goan I can tell you it's authentic Goan food. More of the type prepared in Goan Christian communities. Any beef dish is awesome. But fish curry rice is little tasteless.

George is more of a Super Goan thn super sea food. They do serve indian and chinese stuff but dont ever try that in george. If you dont eat meats and sea food dont visit. Right in the heart of Panjim next to the Panjim church is George. They have a bar and are open almost throughout the day. The beef stew is very famous, but for me george is thaat bar where most Goans would have their pre dinner drinks and some good appetizers before heading home. They do have an ac section on the top and service is decent

It is not possible that you will not go to Panjim Church whilst you are in Goa. But there is a good chance you will miss George. Please don't.

They will say their speciality is Beef dishes (which is true) but I am sure they are yet to taste their own Chicken vindaloo and Prawn Masala. Also their Rawa King Fry. 6 of us visited this place and almost emptied their kitchen. I had the chicken vindaloo. One of the best I have had in Goa. Super flavorful and spicy.

The ambiance is like any other family restaurant. Simple and unassuming. Do not sit in the last seats in the upper AC section if you are sensitive to cold air blasting your face :P The service might be a little slow as they believe in serving you fresh hot food.

All in all, a great visit. I will bet you do not have place for dessert.

Went for dinner on a weekday. We were the only ones at 7pm, the restaurant was packed by 8.15pm. This is a 60yo restaurant (1963), at "Church Square", serving arguably the best Goan cuisine in town. Snacks: Beef tongue pepper garlic, sausage chilli fry, pork cream chop. Entrée: Beef pulav, sausage pulav. Dessert: caramel pudding. Each & every dish mentioned above was excellent. Just perfectly Goan. Would very strongly recommend this place (in Panjim proper), for anyone looking out for authentic Goan cuisine. Fairly priced, good portion sizes.

Much is hyped about certain 'Instagrammable' bars and restaurants in and around Altinho/Fontainhas in Panjim. However, as a foodie, my take is go beyond following the social media masses please. Let your heart and your stomach guide you to the right spots.. And that's exactly how I landed up at George's 😊 A nice small quaint place. Not overtly done up but just a proper setting for a decent place to hop in by, guzzle a pint and grab grub. Situated right beneath the facade of the main church (Our Lady of Concepcion) in Pato side. You have a medley of other places to grab a quick bite (vegans and vegetarians can pop into Kamat's opposite). But if you want to relish a nice Goan meal and enjoy your drinks, then this is just the right place to be. You're likely to be greeted by the ever-smiling Monty. He's a friendly soul and an excellent server. My take for the day was my eternal mog (love) ~ Choris-Pao and I had a nice chilled Kingfisher Premium to go with it. What else can I say? I loved my experience as always at George's and which is why I am telling you to try it too 😊 And you can also patronize the Kwality Wall's truck on the other side of George's. I dug into Feast for good old college times' sake. I'm sure you have your favourite too 😎

Lovely restaurant, right next to the Panjim Church. The food is good and authentic but looking at the quantity and service the food items are overpriced and expensive. You can visit if you are looking to try some authentic goan cuisine. The restaurant is small and cozy. A small group or a family can join in to enjoy the food. As mentioned the food is good but comparatively it's expensive. They need to improve they service and the dining experience.

It is located opposite the Mary Immaculate Conception Church. And the best option for lunch after the visit. The restaurant is quite popular with the locals. They have two floors for dingn, the ground floor is non-AC and the first floor is AC. We opted for AC seating. We got a table immediately. The ambiance is plain and simple. Staff is courteous and guided us for our order. We tired the following dishes- 1. Prawns curry rice - Well cooked prawns in delicious gravy (with coconut milk). Savoury and delicious with steam rice. 2. Chonak fillet - Marinated Boneless fillet which was well cooked and was delicious. 3. Lime Soda - Perfect to have with your lunch. The dishes are pocket friendly and highly recommended.

If you still want to experience original Goa and it's cuisine, GEORGE is the place to go to. It still has the same childhood memories from 50 years ago and the same authentic stamp. It's old world charm still holds, in a place swamped by brutal commercialization. No frills, no fancy, just authentic food, served by cheerful smiling staff. Such a welcome relief in the Goa we still want to see.
