My experience with Riorico was superb, had a best papad of Prawns stuffed, cafreal of chicken, liking, fish curry and gauliflower caldin, are awesome, enjoyed lot, chef Rama Kant made our day special great job guys keep it up
An authentic Goan restaurant for all Cafreal lovers. In deserts, Vanilla ice cream with hot homemade sauce is a must try! Located in the heart of the city, this restaurant is also road facing.
Really like this authentic Goan resturant in Panjim. Real authentic Goan food served here, excellent service and Ambience. The hotel very rich Goan looking and right on the main road, with its parking opposite the road.
The Hotel Mandovi has been iconic to Panaji for more than 50 years. Their famed Restaurant Riorico once served as the Premier Place for the wealthy and the foodies. Off lately much hasn't been heard of this restaurant in the news. But the food makes it a worthy place to visit. The Ambience has this old feel, like instant transportation to the 80s, but feels very dull compared to the top places today. Liveliness is missing, yet a calm feeling isn't attained. Service is quite unique. Let me elaborate, waiters and stewards are very sussegado (relaxed) and the In-charge was yelling at them. They dropped cutlery on two occasions. The Waiter forgot to get us our Mushroom Rissois and then when we inquired at the time of main course, he said to let it be as now main course is here, which I find funny as a slight more courtesy is required.
The drinks served were average but the food was delicious. Calamari Butter garlic was nice, but quantity was an issue. Stuffed Masala Crabs were fantastic they were more Goan Catholic Style, I would have preferred a touch less Red Masala. Chicken Cafreal was moist and flavours were beautiful but the gravy was very dry. The Best Dish was the Prawns Balchao. They were marvellous, a perfect combination of sweet and spicy with that slight hint of sourness, it was refreshing on the palate and goes great with Rice or Bread. I wasn't very happy with the Veg Xacuti, It had a slight overdose of Star Anise or similar strong spice. We were surprised for dessert, They served a delicious Coffee Souffle.
Overall we had a very pleasant evening at Riorico and we loved the food, but saying that I feel the hotel needs to go under a series of changes, bringing it at par with leading hotels and then I will be happy to say, the Mandovi will regain its glory.
I had been here recently for a dinner! Its located inside the Mandovi hotel! The ambience is very good and so is the service! We ordered a goan soup (caldo verde something) and it was a disaster! The appetizers chicken tikka, paneer sesame and kingfish tikka were delicious!
They provide complimentary breadsticks n normal bread with the soup!
We also had Prawns Biryani which was too good!
Overall a great experience while watching the india lanka cricket match on the big screen here!! Highly recommended!
One of the best restaurants in Panjim for a perfect typical Goan meal! Some of the must try dishes are - Pixie morne, chicken roast, golden fried prawns, prawns pulao, and Mandovi crepe , coconut souffle and many more!
Amazing interiors, very royal & classy. This place serves Goan & Portuguese cuisine. We had ordered Prawns Curry, Rice & Chonak Rawa Fry & Chicken Xacuti. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. There was a lady playing piano when we were dining. I really loved the way she played & tried to interact with the guests. It's priced slightly on the higher side. Visit this place to taste the authentic Portuguese & Goan flavours.
Goa is a true melting pot of culture, cuisine & cozy vibes. Enjoyed a memorable stay with close kin in Caranzalem, digging into exquisite charcuterie & sipping elegant home made brew.
Riorico is considered the Don Pepe of the Tito's & the Britto's as they have showcased some classic Indo - Portugese fusion since the 60's.Goan cuisine has exploited the soil's ability to nurture piquant spices.Pickling of the swine as I term it is the order of the day. Be it non Descript street food in Santa Cruz or the experience of Riorico.Be it chorizo or sorpotel. The place can be quite easily found. All you've to all for is hotel Mandovi & you're in Eusebio's far spot.
What was recommended was the fish curry & countless days must have passed in perfecting this work of art.The elegant use of Kokum out does Marathi cuisine when it comes to fish.
The coconut garnish on baked vegetables smacked of South Indian poriyal but lacks the mustard.
Goan bread is unique too.Close to a brioche but not exactly the same. Dried prawns tickle the sodium receptors unlike shrimp dabbed in olive oil.The onion with coconut & turmeric in a kimchi like salad with a similar name evokes oriental memories. The seafood curries certainly have incorporated stock made from fish as well as crustaceans. That's quite some learning.
Finally love bebinca but in moderation. Final finally, food always tastes better with good stout.
Though in Goa Vive La France! Vive la Pondiche'ry !
Nice ambience with live Guitar nd music , good quality food , got tatse of food as we want and expected , its yummy 😀 , very good amd prompt service , excellent mouthwatering food , will visit very soon
One of the oldest restaurant in Goa. Heard from many localities about this and the visit was worth it. The ambience is truly amazing. I went to this place for lunch and there was a lady who played a very good piano which was very pleasant. The food was more enjoyable because of the music. The signature dishes to be ordered over here are
1.)Prawns Gold Finger
2.) Narlachi Kadi
3.) Chicken Xacuti
Tried some real Goan food here, it was great. But my friend from States was not able to keep up with spices. The ambience was too gud with live singing and all(they play some old songs like suranghani nd all, it's very enjoyable). The crab meat starters were to the mark and we loved their presentation aswell.

Ok so this review gonna be strictly on the Sizzler festival which is currently held at rio rico ..
it's an yearly festival which is held in the month of July .. !
There's a special menu which features only the sizzlers and some desserts
The menu is is divided nicely into sections lyk vegetarian, chicken , mutton , and fish
Plenty choice in the fishy section (special mention here would be the lobster sizzler and the sea food sizzler)
around 4 chicken sizzlers
5 mutton sizzlers
5 veg sizzlers
So it gives one ample opportunity to choose
But the star of the menu is definitely the chicken corado sizzler (pronounce it as corad) it's basically a red semi gravy, extremely delicious and tasty ..!!
Evry sizzler is accompanies with baby potatoes cut in half , some French fries , butter fried vegetables and the signature Mandovi spice rice (with lovely flavour of cardamom and cloves )
Everything abt the sizzler's taste is 100% but the only place they loose some point is on the presentation which looked as if the chef was in some hurry to plate or completely disinterested due to too many orders ..! Nonetheless , I think the part can be over looked as the taste is what takes it all ..!!
If you in panjim , rush to rio rico, hotel Mandovi and indulge in some yummylicious sizzlers 👍👍👍
The best restaurant I have ever been. The food is extremely tasty. Recommend kingfish cafreal and fish fingers. Amazing desserts. The proper Indo Portuguese restaurant definitely going back.
A hidden gem located in the famous hotel mandovi. Somehow never visited this place in spite of living in Panaji for 25 years. But when I did, aah it was marvelous. The ambience is perfect for a Sunday lazy lunch, the look is very royal and pleasant to the eye. You will see proper Goan in each and every grain of this restaurant. We ordered squids butter garlic, a crab dish, chicken xacuti (Goan Delight), and prawns curry rice. The food was amazing, couldn't think of any fault to be honest. See pics to give your tastebuds some exercise. The whole experience was made even more lively by this wonderful lady who was playing famous Goan songs on her piano. She is a very pleasant lady and appreciates a round of applouse from the audience. She even came for a quick chat with us and it was nice to hear from her story while we munched on the yummy food.
Riorico is one of the restaurants in Goa that serve the finest Goan food. We ordered prawns curry, rice, king fish fry and chicken cafereal with Goan bread. The food lived up to our expectations :) The staff is courteous and there's a band to keep the guests entertained.
Walked in one night after most other restaurants had closed. They were closing too, but graciously agreed to serve us. The caldo verde, which I had had elsewhere and loved, was pretty un-remarkable. But their fish curry rice lived up to its reputation of being among the best in town.
Celebrated my husbands birthday here this November.. A private party for 35 pax..
Spot on arrangements, courteous staff..
Goan Xacuti is the most authentic chicken curry i have had in any Goan resto..
Chicken cafreal was another favorite..
Rest of the buffet was also good..
The birthday party was a big success !!!
The food here is absolutely fantastic!
Try the prawn sukhem the sanna The dal usol
The prawn papads
The fresh orange juice the best!
Of course this is an old old hotel and stil old world but trust me the food and service are not old!
Awesome ambience !! Brilliant food, must visit for authentic Portuguese and goan cuisine .. located right across the mandovi river above mandovi hotel
Such a beautiful and comfortable place! The tasty food with its excellent service made our day. From the vegetarian dal and peas to the hardcore mughlai mutton or the goan style each one of them were worth relishing. A must visit place if you need taste as well as ambience.
Rio Rico Mandovi is not for food alone. This place pampers its customers not merely cosmetically but one feels royal - one because of the majestically designed dining hall, two for the genuinely courteous personalised service and three because of the quality of the food they serve. Though I like their Goan delicacies right from chicken cafriel ( I think this place was the first to introduce this recipe), chicken xacuti which is a delight without parallel ( raw coconut pieces linger in the mouth), prawns curry, and sungtaam kismoor ( I think only Mandovi knows how to make it with sufficient dried prawns, they also derve good Punjabi dishes notable among them butter chicken and vegetable variants too. And they make genuibe slsande (beans) tonaak, muga gathi and veg uddamethi all Goan veg delicacies. Rio Rico a place where one cannod find fault with. If you are in Goa see that you have at least one meal here.
Decent place, bang on Mandovi river bank and most important has old style decor- with dishes named with imperial Portuguese & local goan.
Staff was very courteous.
Overall good experience.
Very well known across the state for its chicken cafreal this place has a magic touch to it, what i am trying to portray is that unlike the other places i have visited this place not just serves you good food but also has a brilliant royal dining style ambience to it. Highly recommended !
The service and food was great.... The service was very attentive and quick to respond. The food was tasty.... The restaurant overlooks the mandovi river but the view is blocked by trees....
Overlooks the river Mandovi and cruise port, serving amazing Goan and Portuguese cuisine. Its one of the oldest and best restaurant (and hotel) built in the reign of Portuguese.
We visited little early for the dinner around 7:30 in the evening, because need to head back to Baga. We had Chicken Roast Sizzler and it tasted good but hard while eating and Golden Fried Prawns was delicious.
This place is amazing! It was my first visit to goa and we stopped here for lunch. Ambience was too good and food was lip smacking. We ordered crab soufflé, mutton biriyani ,chicken vindaloo and hot chocolate. Soufflé was innovative, meat was well cooked and trust me this is the best hot chocolate i ever had! Staff were very friendly and polite 😊 the place was almost empty when we visited and live music was playing which was very soothing. All in all I would recommend it to everyone!
Food-5/5
Service-5/5
Ambience-5/5
Its placed at amazing location...just near to calm environment... Water splashing around...those sweet sound of water and wind..!! That's the attraction at this place...!! Coming to food ...starters are decent with best being hara bhara kabab... Cottage chesses is okay...!!
In bread the same are very okay and dal is also no that great ...!!! An evening sitting with small pack!! You understand right!!!
Amazing food loved the ambience very good staff
The rates are slightly high but the quantity and quality is worth the food
Recommended to all must visit when in Goa
The Mondovi Hotel drags my memories back to the Panaji of the late 1960's when there was no South or North Goa, just Goa! Colangut Beach had a rudimentary tourist cafe, two fish shacks and we rented shacks from fisherman by the sea! The Mandovi was there and is one of the oldest fine dining places in Panaji. Well, "fine" in its time ! Later in the 80's we used their dorms on the roof! But the food was great and memorable. This is a must try joint, getting refurbished! For better or worst its heritage and should be supported!
Love this place.
Great ambience.
One of the classy places that you can visit for lunch on a slow Sunday.
The staff are very very friendly.
And the food is good.
The sea food is their best.
I have been to this place a few times and love the food. Their pomfret is a must try. So is the goan sausage masala with goan bread. The ambience is great and so is the service.
Nice authentic portugese and goan food. Amazing hospitality. One must try kolachi kadhi with fish curry and rice.
Food is seved on a nice hot seramic plate. Ambience is amazing.
Sizzler festival is sizzling mandovi till 9th August. A must visit for the sizzler lovers. I had the chicken corada, which was spicy and very goan. I highly recommend this sizzler. Mum had the chicken steak with mushroom sauce, the chicken was stuffed with mushroom n minced chicken. While my dad had the paneer n mushroom sizzler which was delicious as well. They also have sea food sizzlers and other meat options. One sizzler is sufficient for one person as its a complete meal.
Amazing restaurant. We went there for lunch. They gave authentic goan and portuguese food. The food was amazing.
The staff was exvellent. They even helped us order. We wanted to eat authentic goan food and they really caught our taste and suggested dishes which were perfect.
Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Superb food. Polite waiters. Good pianist.

Amazing food. Top class service. One of the best restaurant in goa.
Old world charm, warmth of the staff, the most authentic Goan cuisine - Hindu & Catholic - a visit to Goa is not complete without a meal at Riorico. Whether it's the xacuti, peas and caju usal, prawn cocktail or, the rice and curry with kismur...everything is worth a try.
Remember to end the meal with a Creme de Caramel or vanilla icecream with their signature hot chocolate sauce. Nobody makes it like Hotel Mandovi!
Look no further for authentic Goan cuisine. Their sizzzlers are very good. Do try the Roast Chicken sizzler.
