This is the place my dad and aunts would visit for tea. This then became a hangout with my best friend - we used to visit it when we were in college or when we were in town in the evenings. Now I visit it as often as possible with my husband and order SUKHI PURI BHAJI. No other restaurant can beat TATO’s SUKHI PURI BHAJI.

Must do in Goa is eat bhaji pav. tato is 100 year outlet that consistently does really nice bhaji pav. If you are a visitor to the state go for the BUNS and SUKHI BHAJI. this is like the aloo sabji / bandi dosa / tiki / etc of Goa. You get 3-4 varieties of bhaji ( subzi) goes with Puris, chapati, and goan local pav and bun. Tato does this really nice. Legends in Goa and must visit place for sure. They also do a nice Goan veg thali for lunch.

This is the place which my dad used to go when he worked in Panjim and now i continue the tradition of eating here ! I personally visit here only for breakfast, because this is the best place for having Goan breakfast and absolutely Value of money pricing.

I have tried theier sukhi bhaji, patal bhaji, mix bhaji and sangam bhaji... I just love all of it. The goan pav which they serve is always fresh and nicely baked.

also, not to miss the batatawada and mirchi plates... lip smacking awesome !

we also tried the medhu wada this time and that too was nicely done.

Very economical with great ambience and excellent service. Never imagined that I’d have that good veg thali for just 100rs in a place like Goa. I think it’s closed on Sundays but if you wanna have a quick lunch while you’re working near Panjim.. then this is the place you should be going to!!

Great place to try out the traditional vegetarian Goan breakfast of mix bhaji and Goan pav.
Top it of with chai and bun ( deceptive, looks like bathura but it's sweet), and you are set to go .
Overall a decent experience!

During my recent Goa trip wanted to visit places which are favorite with locals . And one such place which search engines flashed was cafe tatos . So the first thing we did as soon as we landed in Goa.. was head to this place..

We reached there arnd 8. And the place had just opened it's door. We we're asked to take a seat and informed the food would take another 15-20 mins while a few dishes taking more time. So we ordered accordingly.

It was raining and was a perfect weather for the food being served.

We ordered sukhi bhaji which is small pieces of potaoto prepared in jeera and other spices with green chillies .

Mix bhaji chana gravy and sukhi bhaji mix. Both are best had with hot fluffy poori and buns.
Hot batata wada and samose we're a good combination with tea and coffee during rains..

Sweet buns.. I thought they would be sweet pav like bun maska.. but was Suprised it was a poori with sweet stuffing. But later came to know that poori are also called as buns in this region.

Overall it was a wonderful start to our trip . The pricing is also reasonable for the taste , quality and quantity.

One of the best places to be and everything is in pocket friendly prices. It's best suited for all crowds, you can hangout with your friends, girlfriend or even your parents. Location is also cool and it's located very close to bus terminal which is amazing and they have a speciality which amused me totally, when we arrived and placed our order within a blink of an eye everything was on the table. We were like whaaat !! 😶 We even thought it was already cooked and tried visiting the shop at different timings like 3:30pm and ordered dosa, 9:30 pm ordering pav bhaji they still amused us. Owner is also supercool and calm he's in the shop in most of the time and you warned, get going only to be amazed.

I have been to this place twice, once for evening snacks and once for lunch.

Ambience: Not so good ambience, this is more of cafe so its a small place here. Washroom is not available here, so if one had to go to washroom, they have to go to tato's fine dining restaurant on first floor. Tables are maintained clean and neat. Parking is easily available since it is in Patto area. Restaurant is not very crowded since people come and go and its open almost for entire day.

Food: During our first visit, we had cheese masala dosa, cheese utappam, puri bhaji. We also parceled puri and mix bhaaji for my parents, and they loved it too. Puris are very soft and very tasty. Masala dosa and uttapam are available in evening only from 3:30 pm onwards. I liked masala dosa, very crunchy one.
On our second visit, I went with my mother and she wanted to eat puri and mix bhaji. We also had cheese garlic naan and paneer kofta and I tell you, i loved the koftaas and the curry. I am longing since then to go back cafe tato's and try more dishes.

Service: very friendly and cooperative staff. Also, food is served very quickly.

Been frequenting this place since I was a little boy! My favourites being the sukhi bhaji puri- tiny dices of spiced potato tossed in jeera , green chilli, mustard accompanied by fluffy white Pooris. Consistent, delicious and really satisfying. My comfort food!

Also, their sweet milky tea is the perfect drink to lift up your mood. They also make a killer cold coffee / chocolate milkshake.

The hot samosas also are a hot favourite !

Now run by the 3rd generation of the Dhuri family , you will find an ever smiling Saurabh Dhuri behind the cash till, ensuring his guests are happy.

Do drop in !

Cafe Tato (near Garcia de orta) is my favorite restaurant in Goa. My family and I have been frequenting this place for many years now. This restaurant has been my go to place for quick office lunches and catching up with friends.

A new branch of cafe Tato opened at the Patto centre a few years ago, and I finally made it there today. The decor is fancier and a lot of new dishes (south/North Indian and Chinese) has been added to the menu but thankfully the basic menu of my favorite bhaji, bread and pakoras remain the same.

I opted for a veg thali which tasted as good as their original restaurant. The thali consists of rice, roti/puri, with dal, a coconut based curry, potato bhaji, a vegetable, sol kadi, curd, salad, pickle and sweet dish.

Their other must haves are the tomat bhaaji, patal bhaaji (coconut gravy) , sukhi bhaaji (potato) with PAv or buns.
Don't miss the mirchi bhajji (pakoras), cutlet and nimbu pani.

The best part about this restaurant chain is their consistency.

After roaming for awhile on first day of the year in Panjim, near Church & garden, we entered this place. It is a famous restaurant chain in goa & well known with locals. We placed order for 2 Mirchis', 2 tea, 1 buns & 1 icecream cup. Buns is a sweet bread & really nice, especially to balance mirchi effect if anyone like us is having it. Mirchi was good too. Lot of locals come to this joint as we noticed. It is on side road. Nice joint to have quick snack bite near Church square & reasonably priced too.

Though patto is a congested place with the offices located around, craving for good food should not be a problem. This small little place in the corner of the Gera imperium building is always bustling with office goers. Tato's makes the best sangam bhaji ever. It's not present in the menu of other outlets. Do try the cheese uttapam.
Just 1 thing, if anyone wants to use the washroom then they have to either hold it or run to the 1st floor of the building. That's the only inconvenience.

It's never possible to replicate the goodness of a place in another location. Cafe Tato has come close to doing that at the Patto Plaza location. The convenience of parking in fact makes this a better choice over the original one. Purists though will surely figure out the difference between 'the' Tato and this one when one orders the various bhaajees. Stuff like samosas would make you believe it's the same old one though.

Tea time is Tato time. Their bhaji pao used to be legendary though dare I say the quality is slipping. The tea is undoubtedly moody's and the quality depends on how long it's been boiling. The buns and bhajji are great hot off the stove. The place has great nostalgia value. Don't expect accessibility for wheelchair users. If it's quality local breakfast and tea time grub you want go to Ashwini in St. Inez. But Tato always has a place in my heart.

Jam packed with office returners in the evening, this place is great to catch a cup of tea over their amazing bhajis with buns and paos. We have always missed out eating here usually. Day before after winding up a long meeting and having missed lunch we reached here for their evening snacks.
Ordered almost all their bhajis; mushrooms, red beans and tomato alongwith their basic potato bhajis. all to be eaten up with Buns (fried leavened banana dough) and bread (paos).
Believe me when I say this, everything the moment it arrived was being devoured with no word spoken at all on the table. Their buns, which is basically a leavened dough bhatura is fermented using mashed banana into the dough is great eaten even without any bhaji. The gravies are great, well spiced and are a perfect fix for your comfort food in the evening or the morning.
If you are not to worried about piling carbs or have walked enough those streets of panaji, this is the place to stuff yourself with all the amazing comfort food.

Tato's had been a personal favorite of mine during my studying days in Goa, an absolutely no frills restaurant who were great at their core job, serving good food, quickly.

This time we ordered plates of patal bhaji, with poori or pav as sides, mirchi bajji, samosa and rounded it off with sweet bun and nescafe combo, a personal favorite. The pooris were crisp but a bit oily. The mirchi bajji and samosas were outstanding. The sweet bun is actually not a bun, but a huuuge poori which is sweet, and goes really well with their nescafe coffee. A bill of Rs 380 for 3 people meant it was great value for money. Overall a great place to have simple goan delicacies of you are in a hurry.

GOAN. Ya this place is famous for its goan food. As the name says this isnt a cafe anymore. Pretty popular among the goans, cafe tato will be suggested to you by every local out there in the capital.
Mushroom bhaaji along with the bun is a speciality here. Buns aren't normal paos but they are something like sweet and salty puris with fermented base. Even the cashew bhaji is nice.
Cheap is the food here. That is one thing that makes this place so special.
Located in the capital this place is crowded all the time especially with locals.

USP: mushroom with buns + cheap tasty food.

Ask any Goan and they'll tell you that they have eaten in Cafe Tato at least once.
Located near the Panjim church square, finding parking is next to impossible (they have another branch at Patto Plaza). The cafe has two seating areas of which the one upstairs is air conditioned. Finding a table in the evenings is a little difficult, so unless you are okay with sharing tables with other customers (very common practice here) visit during non peak hours.
The menu is limited but all the dishes are top notch. I swear by their potato dry sabhji or the mushroom gravy sabhji (or a mixture of both when you don't want to choose between the two). Team it with either bread or puris and a cup of their special tea. Their onion pakodas, mirchis and buns are freshly prepared and highly recommended.
Service is prompt and the place is totally inexpensive. Try out Cafe Tato when in the mood for indian snacks.

I don't know whether the Tato's near Church Square is still open but I went to the new one in Patto Plaza. There are two joints- one is an Indian cafe with snacks and some lunch main course dishes situated outside and the other is the fine dining, in the plaza.
There is good pay parking and the restaurant is air conditioned and very clean. Staff does their job well, rarely smile.
Of the dishes, my favorites are the Sukhi Bhaji and Pav Bhaji. This has to be my favourite potato bhaji of all time (have it with puri, better than pao).
Service time is around 15 minutes. Overall a good, convenient place for breakfast or snacks.

Real Goa is not in commercialized beaches and so called fancy restaurants. Thanks to our dear friends, we got to experience first hand the actual vintage Goa. Tato's restaurant is part of their family story, its the place where my friends parents went on their first date. Restaurant has a old charm to it with seating just the way it was back when uncle and aunt dated. Service was quick, we ordered for Thali without even looking at the menu as we went with the regulars. It was served with puri or parantha(as per choice), which is followed by rice, Sukhi subzi made of aloo was yum, then there was two types of daal, another beans sabzi, curd, custard for sweet. They also served kokam water as a digestive. It was overall a hearty and belly satisfying meal. Would love to visit them again.☺

So I've been  eating at Cafe Tato for many many years now, since I was like 5-6 yrs my parents would get the mix bhaji+puri for me to eat.. proper Goan veg food. Huge fan
So mix bhaji is a potato bhaji dry plus a curry like tomato bhaji thing, it's my personal favorite. Can be had with puri/bread/buns
Buns are yellowish sweet breads that taste absolutely yum.
Must try mix bhaji bun and tea for breakfast (especially those of you arriving by bus to Panaji, the Pato outlet is right where you dismount your buses)
The Chole is brilliant too with puri
They have a brilliant veg thali with Goan bhajis in it, so this is personally my top place for Goan veg food.
5/5 for food and pricing I'd say. Nice ambience too. Do stop buy, absolutely recommend it.

(P.s there are 2 outlets in Panjim itself, one at Pato and one near Panjim church. Photos are from the outlet near the church)

Aaaah! The breakfast is just mouthwatering! Be it South Indian or North Indian, they serve it right! The only minus would be the space issue but trust me, you'd ignore that once you have the food there! :)

Best place for quick bites. We ordered few things from each page of the menu and all of them are truly mouth watering.
The best aspect is food is served almost within a minute, the place is not spacious though, but the food here is totally worth the ambiance.

One of the greatest places to visit in Panjim City, GOA, is @Cafe Tato. When we went here in December of 23, we ate breakfast most of the time. Although there are other cafes with similar names, this one is the original and was trustworthy as well as decent. The cafe's atmosphere is pleasant, tidy, clean, and well-maintained. The staff is really helpful, and the service is prompt as promised. The majority of the menu is excellent, but you should definitely try the Goan curries, including sangam curry with banana buns. This is Sachin Tendulkar's fave as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend going here.

Cafe Tato is one of the classic breakfast restaurant. Their all dishes taste good and wholesome. I had ordered Buns, Mirchi bajji, bhaji and puri for breakfast. The taste of all items were good. Eventhough it's famous for it's breakfast menu their lunch items are quite delicious too. I had ordered paneer biryani and gobi Manchurian which were surprisingly good.

This eatery has been around for as long as I can remember. Good for breakfast. The Sukhi and Alsane bhaji along with the buns are my favourites.

A very pleasant location at patto panjim with decent meals. Their masala dosa, which I had, was excellent. The employees are nice and friendly. Nice location for gatherings with friends and family and also for professional meetings. The costs are affordable. The amount of food served is also good. The tea and cold coffee were also good. The place is a little crowded in the evenings. Overall a good place for breakfast and evening meals.

Almost all their dishes are quite delicious. Prices are reasonable. Mirchi are the best. Try their Goan Bhaji, mirchi, buns and even bombay bhaji pav. One of the best veg food you can have in Panaji. Recently tried their biriyani and veg crispy that were delicious too. I have always left satisfied from tatos, thanks to their consistent quality and taste.

The ambience is cosy enough to remind one of home, with the restaurant’s hygiene being top-notch. Tato’s’, as it is commonly known today, has a wide range of vegetarian cuisine. Their speciality is their mouth-watering puri bhaji, which has a range of options to choose from. Right from sukhi bhaji (potato), chana bhaji (chickpeas), salaad bhaji (onions) and mix bhaji (a mix of all the bhajis together). Their wide menu also includes other bestsellers such as vegetarian thalis, buns, sheera, samosas and batata vadas. TIME: 7:00 am to 8:30 pm PRICE RANGE: ₹50 - ₹250 MUST TRY: Sukhi bhaji, samosas and sheera

Mix bhaji 9/10💫 Buns 10/10🌟 Tea 10/10✨ Shira 8/10💫 When I went to cafe tato for the first time for morning tea. It was soo good 😍🤤🤤🤤 the bhaji, the tea and hot single mirchi. However when I went the second time in the morning it was not the great, felt like it was yesterday's bhaji not freshly made.😑 Got a bit disappointed but the buns and the tea made the way💫✨✨ Worth it.. Highly suggested 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Advise: Go in the morning hours to get freshly made bhaji 🤤🤤🤤 and mirchi must try🤤💞

Very good breakfast options for local cuisine. Try the Puri bhaji which is typical here and the 'bun' which is actually a Puri with banana flour mixed in - was very nice, not oily, fluffy and tasty
