The best goan food... my favourite place since my childhood.. everything is just awesome here... ambience is very simple.. But a must visit when in goa...
Good place to have traditional goan homemade like food. Prawns, xacoti and kingfish are worth trying. Service is also very fast and the ambiance is also good.
Parents n I had been near ponda for visiting the places near by.. v had taken a taxi, we asked the driver to take us for the lunch der so he took us hea...
Must seriously thank the driver for taking us hea...the taste, the price is so worth it..
The chicken dry fry is a must try! The pompret fish fry is worth the price..
The only demerit is that v had to wait for a long time for them to serve!
Well if u want something good, den v can wait for a bit more time ryt??! 😉
However, the taste is all that matters! So giving 5/5stars
Having lived just a km away from this famous joint, trust me when I say I've seen the downward change in the quality of food. Used to be our go to place for Goan homemade fish thali when I was a kid. I've seen buses of drama groups and production houses flocking the place for the fish they served. In past few years there has been drastic change in taste, quantity and the quality. Although I still love their chicken dry fry, the quantity is very less. Chicken xacuty used to be a regular for us but lately it's only bones and gravy.
4 stars for the childhood memories of yummy food it used to serve!
Fish ... prawns ... clams ....
Justice done to seafood ....
My annual trip to Goa is incomplete without a meal in Tilve .....
I've bewn to many places in Goa for seafood ....
Nothing to beat this place ....
Modest .... Yet excellent taste
If you want to try local Goan food then you must visit this place. Amazing food, great service, pocket friendly. Surmai and bangda curry rice is simply amazing. I strongly recommend this place.
This place is like heaven on earth for FISHETERIANÂ you will fall in love with variety of fish and preparation specially goan styleÂ
we had most of the fish available with them ...we reached late in the afternoon but owner served us best of foodÂ
DO ORDER = Mutton thali / Prawns fry / Tisrya sukhe / Surmai Thali Â
Food quality = we have overeaten ... so by default GREAT
Ambiance = Its more like khanval but it can compensate with best foodÂ
Service = Quick and fast ( They do serve alcohol inside if you request)
You can call it my second home in Goa! This place is just amazing for local goan food. The Fish thali is too good! The fried Viswan(Surmai). fried prawns, fried shinane(clams) are to die for. The service is good and the food is super fresh.
The chonak fry is yum!! Highly highly recommended!!
If you are foodie and have respect for tasty food, then surely this place is for you, delicious and value for money. Simply have fish thali and order for prawns fry, if you are beer lover then you can go for it with juicy prawns!
I was searching for an authentic Goan food and I found Tilve @ google. Amazing service and food. Prawns curry rice was the best. And it's really affordable.
Good simple homely thali which is filling and priced well to the quantity. Add-ons are pricey. Mostly locals adding to homely feeling. Seafood fresh
This one is a no frills place where you should go if you are in the ponda area. Absolutely fresh and very reasonably priced fish thali and fish fry. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the ambience. We tried the prawns fry and the fish thali both of which were wholesome and filling. The prawns were extremely tasty and had us reaching out for more.
Located at 15 mins distance from Shantadurga Temple, Kavlem. Tilve Bhojanalay is famous for its authentic Goan Sea Food. I have tried Special Surmai (King Fish) Thali, Prawns Fry, Chicken Masala. The taste of "Tival" that is served alongwith the thali which is a replacememt for Sol Kadhi is really yummy!!
The taste of Sea food here is lip smacking. Though the taste of chicken gravy was okayish and could have been better.
The interiors of the restaurant are very basic & the rates of the dishes are really pocket-friendly.
So guys, ditch the overly expensive restos & do visit this place in case you happen to be in Ponda.
Would strongly recommend to try only Sea food and not Chicken or Mutton!!
First time I visited them I ordered for their special fish thali. It was yummy! The fish was so fresh.
Loved everything in the plate.
Second time, we ordered two fish Thalis and in one we got fresh pomfret and other not fresh.
I have still given 3.5.
Will visit them again and see what they serve. Hope I will not be disappointed!
The Sassy Fanatic Foodie

We are completely in love with the food over here in terms of quality and quantity.
Paplet fry
Kolambi fry and sukka
Shimple masala
Try their fish thali too!
Loved it!

. After a series of continental munches, I was really looking forward for a real authentic Goan treat. I knew that such a moment would come soon as the summer wedding season had begun.
The months of April and May are full of functions and rituals. Here in Goa, the surrounding areas of the town of Ponda are the most popular places for hosting such events. As for me, I eagerly wait for an opportunity to be invited for any such event as I can complement it with a mouthwatering lunch at ‘Tilve Bhojanalaya’ I finally got the chance during one such visit to the Ganapati Temple in Khandola, Marcela.
This vintage bar & restaurant is situated on the main road between the Mahalaxmi & Nageshi Temples on the outskirts of Ponda. The ‘Tilve Bhojanalaya’ is well known for its authentic Goan fish curry rice plate, popularly known in this part of the world as ‘Thaali’. Most of the visitors to this place are men and women coming straight out of a wedding function. The men are formally dressed while the women are studded with lots of gold ornaments.
Every item in this ‘Thaali’ is simply awesome. It is cooked in traditional Hindu style. The crumb fried fish is too yummy. No words to describe it. The ‘Tisrya Sukhe’ (Seashell Sauted) is also mouthwatering. In addition, the ‘Tilve Bhojanalaya’ also serves a variety of dishes in Chicken and Mutton.
The scrumptious lunch at the ‘Tilve Bhojanalaya’ was indeed a mouthwatering ‘Prasadam’ after a divine ‘Ganapati Darshan’. I have clicked a snapshot of their entire menu so that you all can choose your own pick.
So Gourmands, whenever to feel the urge for an authentic Goan fish curry rice, ‘Tilve Bhojanalaya’ is the place to be.
Being a local I have been to this place so many time but I must say the taste is still the same. It is run in the owner house.
It's known for authentic Goan seafood. Must try fish thali, prawns, pomref fry, and muddoshi fry
Restaurant is pocket friendly
Tilve bhojnalaya is one of the cheapest eatery yet best quality food you'll find in Ponda, Goa. If you wish to taste authentic Goan food at a super pocket friendly budget, this is one of the places to go. We ordered 2 fish thalis along with fried shrimps and in just Rs. 400 we were satiated. It's not a fancy place and the ambience is basic and also its a little difficult to locate. However, one will never find this place empty anytime of the day. Being a native of Goa, It's locals best kept secret, so ditch that high-end resto and head here for some lip-smacking food!
we had visited this place after Nageshi and Mahalaxmi temple darshan , it is behind Mahalaxmi temple ,Restuarant is adjacent to the owners house gives a homely feelingÂ
We had all goan dish , like Prawns Rawa fry , Surmai fry , pomref fry , all dishes were awesome and price were cheaper as compared to price of a fish dish you get anywhere. Only drawback you have limited maincourse food. Delicious Prawns fry and a beer made my husband happy :-)
will always visit this place whenever we go to nageshi temple
One of those rare places near the temples in rural Goa which serve drinks along with seafood delicacies. Prawns rava fry stole the show here. Absolute delight. The sepcial fish thali is the dish to be had here and the choice depends on the catch. Unlimited refills for curry, rice or chapatis makes it extremely affordable. Kalwa sukka was a disappointment as it hardly had any kalwa fish. The place serves as an ideal lunch home for Goan style home cooked food.
Simple and elegant! Fish curry rice is absolutely beautiful! Been here multiple times. Order the simple fish rice plate and muddoshi ( lady fish ) fry and prawns fry along with a couple of beers and you are set for a great meal! The simple fish rice plate consists of a single chapati, rice, fish curry, a vegetable curry ( usually made of some pulses and potatoes ) salad of cabbage onions & tomatoes, pickle, kokam kadi and 2 halfs of bangda ( mackerel ) fish fry. Special rice thali has muddoshi fry instead of bangda and kismoor ( dried prawns dish, which is very good ) The owner is very friendly. Service is a bit slow sometimes but not extremely so. There are two seating areas. One is a bit sort of open ( usually people sit here to watch a match or anything else that is on, on the TV, families usually avoid this place! ) The other is right next to it but a more family friendly indoor sort of a place. Beer served in both places! Pocket friendly, good staff, pleasant ambience! Can't go wrong with this place! If you are in this part of Goa, then do visit!
The best place to visit if you are craving for goan food. You get the best fish plate and fish items here. The ambience and taste is homely. The service is slow
A favourite place for us every time we visit Shantadurga in Ponda. It's located very close to shantadurga. Once a small eatery, they have now grown into a large place. The ambience and taste is same, homely and homely. Great fish thali fish fry served in splendid taste and with simple demeanour. I just love the taste which has remained unchanged over the years. The kitchen is managed by ladies from the family and serving by the gentlemen. I just love the way their food tastes. Very fresh, spicy and tangy. I make it a point to visit every time we go visit temples in goa.
Located just 10 min away from Shantadurga temple Kawala, this eating place is a heaven for fish lovers. We had special fish thali for just Rs 120.It had one chapati, rice,a white chickpeas gravy, fried mudadushas, prawn curry and a coconut preparation of dried prawns. The tival made of kokum and chillies was amazing. It is a drink which beats the heat and acidity. The fried pomphret was crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The prawn masala was tasty. The rates are very low.All in all,a must go for fish lovers
One of the best places to have fried fresh fish with beers. Just too good. And taste is the old one not changed at all. Not a good option for vegetarians
Amazing sea food experience. Prawns rawa fry was super. Crunchy outside, nice fresh and juicy on inside. Tried the surmai rawa fry as well, and was amazed at the size of the surmai. They had cooked it to perfection with perfect rawa coating. The SP fish thaali had mudoshi fry, a local fish variant I assume, which again tasted very good. All in all, if you care not about ambience but want genuine good sea food make sure you visit this place. Added attraction to me was drinks availability at reasonable rates.
Went on a temple visit and stumbled in this great quaint place. Have to find yourself in old Goa.. But when you do. Worth it!
Food: coastal delicasies. Order their Noglee fry(Kane fish). Bangda fry. Or tarli fry with Drinks served there. TV set is always on playing Sony TV! On request can watch last night missed serials too. :) good served git on silver thalis and a very clean kitchen too. On request the owner is more than happy to oblige.
Ambience:3 food :5 VFM:5
Would like to say just 1 line about this: if you wish to eat authentic Goan fish - this is the place! Relax with a beer and stuff yourself with mackerel, silverfish, prawns etc to glory!!!!
If this is the TILVE near Mahalaxmi temple, then I must rate it more than 5. A must visit for those who are looking for simple fish food which will turn ur mouth in to waterfall.Â
Lets start with some history. Earlier days Mr Tilve used to help people get their catch (fish) fried in his kitchen. Slowly he started his own venture and today its a famous fish eatery joint for those who know about this place.
Â
Things to try: Shinane (Fried oysters), fish meal, SOL KODI, Today's special fish fry and Beer (If you want to beat goan weather). Chicken is also good. Dont club chicken and fish. ALSO ASK FOR RAVA FRY WHEN YOU ORDER FOR ANY FISH FRY. EX: ask for PRAWNS RAVA FRY, SHINANE RAVA FRY.
Avoid Mutton in goa, as mutton is not that great in goa (This is my personal opinion)
Come here for a meal after seeing Mahalaxmi Temple. This restaurant is a right choice if you are in the mood for the Indian cuisine. Enjoy perfectly cooked fried prawns, fried chicken and fried fish at Tilve Bhojanalay when you happen to be near it. Delicious beer is worth trying here.
This is one of the food joint of real fish lovers. You get tasty food here but you need to compromise on the ambience as this is more of a home food joint. Nothing to complain here but its better to have clear expectations from this place. The owner is very humble and tries to offer quick service. Different types of fish are available depending upon the catch. People usually order fried prawns and fish thali. The only trouble here is to find a parking space as you need to park it on the narrow lane which can be quite tricky. Pricing is descent enough and cost around 300-400 per person.
You will get homely, tasty goan fish thali. We tried kingfish thali and chicken dry fry. Chicken dry fry tasted different and good. Fish fry was good. Thali also include chapati, veg sabzi and kismoor. Overall the items taste was okay.
No parking space for 4 wheeler. 2 wheeler can be adjusted. Service takes time in case of rush hours. Outside sittting space has small tv as well.
My must visit place, the everytime while i am in Goa.
Homely Ambience.
Fresh and Clean Fish Served.
Reasonable.
The best place to have a thali in the evening for just Rs.120/-
It's a humble place with clean ambience. It's ambience is split into parts - inner and outer seating. The inner seating was clean and bright with the lights. The service was fast and very hospitable. The order taker and the server were warm and welcoming with their humbleness.
Had order for a fish thali and it included - one fry fish (mackerel), fish curry, one veggie, salad, pickle, rice, chapati, and solkadhi. Every item had a unique taste and was very satisfying.
Had also ordered for a kingfish thali, which was for Rs.240/- and was worth every penny for the taste and freshness of the fish. The other elements were as same as the regular fish thali, except the dry prawns chutney added to this thali.
Also had ordered for a portion of rawa fried bombil (Bombay ducks) for Rs.220/-. The quality and portion was mind blowing. It was cooked to perfection as the outside was crisp and the inside was soft as the fish was super fresh.
Would surely visit this place again on my next visit.
Just loved it!
We were looking out for good sea food in south Goa and we came across Tilve bhojanalya..The food was really good and pocket friendly .we tried pomfret rava fry,King fish rava fry and also prawns Rava fry was lip smacking.
Ambience was not up to the mark but food taste was really good.If your looking for sea food resturants n south Goa do try this hotel.
Service was bit late as well but worth the wait
Have been going to this restaurant from last 15+ years and quality and taste remains the same. I usually have chicken thali here but fish fry and special fish thali is must try for all the fish lovers. Many tourists/kulavis of temples visiting nearby temple definately try this outlet without fail.
Cheap and tasty thali available here.
We tried their chicken thali which consist of salad, chicken xacuti and plenty of rice and curry.
Chicken xacuti was very tasty with plenty of pieces
Worth the money
Quality food is the only thing I would say. Authentic Goan food. The best we can have in Goa.
A must visit if you love seafood. Fish Thali as well as fired fish and masala. Always freshly made. Very homely atmosphere.
Mid size restaurant located in bandora village, shortest road to it is from farmagudi circle, famous among temple vister tourist, crowded during lunch time for its thalis . Seafood is fresh and tasty , fish thali is average, owner is very friendly. Lots of house cats roaming inside,
Post the templet visits, this is one best place that you need to visit in this area.
You can enjoy chilled beer with fish thaali.
Good food and good service
This is about the food and the food was great. It felt like it was fresh. Was tasty. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Well its monsoon season so I guess its normal. We went there on a Monday for Lunch. The Fish thali was very good. Their Rawa fried fish was very tasty. The fish We had was Velhios, Bombay ducks and Lepo.
