Wot a surprise package this place is!!!As soon as you enter the place the ambience, the lush greenery, the colonial building in the centre judt makes you fall in love with the place.Awesome service too.All in all perfect place to relax..
Definitely the best restaurant in Pondichery. Extremely fresh food, attentive staff and lovely environment!
Great ambience. Delicious food. The menu is a bit limited. Must visit for a taste of French cuisine.
I think Coromandel Cafe become the famous food destination in India very soon. Chef is super talented. All the food I got was amazing . Sofisticated taste and super fresh local products.
Thank you !
Wonderful ambience matched courteous staff and delicious food! Highly recommended.
Food is just brilliant. I love the ambience. Highly recommended. 👍
Your instagram is begging you to dine here. Most calming cafe I've ever been to; theyve filled the place with greens and it's super soothing, absolutely loved the vibe and the beyond beautiful decor; the lights are switched on in the evening and it's way too pretty. Their outdoor is a good option during the covid times as air conditioning can be avoided does reducing risk while not compromising on your dining experience as well. The tables are adequately spaced too, so if you badly need to step out at this moment, I'd recommend them for sure. Brownie points for the exquisite cutlery and professional presentation.
* Be quick to order, they take quite a long time to prepare and serve*
We got the
Pumpkin dip- which was served with some pita bread and sticks, the dip was topped with some really yum goat cheese too
Mozzarella sandwich roll- an all time great combination of pesto and mozzarella, topped with some basil leaves served with a side of good salsa and a salad with a lemon dressing. The bread was of the perfect texture, had a mild crunch to bite and was soft to chew at the same time.
Burnt american cheesecake- super smooth and creamy, melts in your mooth, with a nice mild burnt layer on the top served with a side of seasonal fruit squash
The food was really good, however the pastries are a bit on the expensive side for the quantity served; the quality is great though.
Altogether, it's a must visit, it's my most favorite place at puducherry and I'd go back a thousand times over just for the vibe it gives out. You could also stop by at anokhi on the next street after your meal so girls, it's a win win!
The service is very slow. but still the tasty food makes me visit this place each time I go to puducherry.
Love the rissoto and pink pasta.
Went here with a bunch of friends for a lunch scene. The place is usually packed so booking ahead is the norm. The ambience has a great colonial feel and is lush with greens. We ordered their prawn curry rice, spicy prawn rice, fish and chips, some delectable cocktails and other vegitarian stuff that I can't remember for the life of me. The food was made well and seasoned to palate. The prep time or wait time was too long (more than 45min) for some dishes and one order was taken wrong but it was taken care of so nothing to worry. Portion sizes are good for one person and it's a little heavy on the pocket. One of the must try places in Pondicherry.
Beautiful cafe with lots of greenery(outside) and French architecture (inside). We were here for our dinner. Food was decent. Bit pricey. Still it was a beautiful experience
A pretty, upscale cafe. Preferred the outdoor seating because of the lovely patio which makes one feel like they are in nature’s lap. Had a cheesecake only as I wasn’t hungry and had many more places to visit but felt that i had to sit back and take in the beauty of this cafe.
Sneha Dalvi - The Talking Bee
+4
So we went there around 9PM for a dinner and they just wanted to get our dinner orders as quick as possible and get us out of there! This really pissed us off initially. Our friends were supposed to join us later. They insisted we order for them rightaway else they wont serve. They were pretty rigid about it and it was only making me angrier by minute.
But, when we had the first bite of food my anger faded away. This place is mind blowing when it comes food.
We had Burnt Orange and Mozzarella Salad, Red ricotta and grilled vegetables salad.
Fettuccine Brown Butter Mushrooms and a macaroni cheese.
For desserts we had a mango cheese cake and a walnut brownie.
We paid approx. 3900 Rs. for the above.
Pros –Food, ambiance.
Cons – Portion size. Service, Rigid staff, Expensive.
TTB rating – 4.5*
This will be surely one of my most memorable meals in the recent times.
Coromandel Cafe at Pondicherry is one of top 50 restaurants in India and boasts of some great decor and ambience. Housed within the premises of an old building with French architecture with a large courtyard and garden, the menu here is innovative as well as classy. The Pepper Prawns were the best and so was the Tamarind and Ginger Glazed Chicken. The Strawberry Tiramisu was however our of this world in desserts. Must try if you are here! The cocktails are also brilliant here!
If I were to rate the ambience, I'll give a 20 of 10. Good is not that great, had ordered prawn cocktail pizza and Street herbologist. I have a good time, given I visited at day and it's much better at day.
I understand it's a fine dine restaurant, but it needs more food on the menu.
Friendly and courteous staff. The best part of the restaurant is the ambience. The greenery within cafe makes it so vibrant. Food is nice. Must visit once if you are in Pondicherry.
I always suggest this place for their ambiance as well as their food. They do serve alcohol and have a smoking area outside. They recently got recognized as the top 50 in India. Very well deserved spot, also it’s a part of the amethyst cafe in Chennai.
I was here for breakfast on my last day in Pondicherry and I'm glad I got to eat here as this place was on my wishlist since I'd seen it in a friend's pictures.
We were in a group of 4 and tried 4 dishes and 4 drinks: Bacon Benedict, Sailboat fish Benedict, Eggs Kejriwal and Scrambled Eggs with Toast. The pink hollandaise sauce definitely stood out for me in both the Benedicts. They were done perfectly. The Eggs Kejriwal was also tempting while the Scrambled Eggs were done well.
For drinks, we had the Pistachio shake, Salted Caramel Coconut Apple Shake, Nutella Chocolate Frappe and Lime Soda. The shakes were very thick and filling and we couldn't finish the first two.
I really wanted to try some bakery item but I was so stuffed by the end of breakfast that I didn't try anything else. Our total bill was around 2500/-
The ambience here is of a french cafe. If I ever come back to Pondicherry, I'll definitely try their desserts. Jusqu'à la prochaine fois!
Every time when you visit Pondicherry , there is always some new restaurant , new cuisine or new concept to try out. Here , many old bungalows have been converted in to beautiful restaurants and Coromandal Cafe is one of them . There are small , open air garden space tables available but as the gap between them was very limited so we opted for indoors , corner table to chat freely . Ambience is very nice , clean and calm place , service is little slow so if you have enough time to relax and enjoy your meal then definitely book a table in advance and must try this place. Prior bookings are must as even on Wednesday it was full so you can imagine the crowds on weekends . However I didn't like their fried dishes like crispy prawns and fish n chips as they were very oily and greasy but their Italian food is just awesome. Not only their bruschetta bread is different but their toppings are equally unique . Like we ordered Bengali mango chutney and cheese bruschetta , as the name suggest the Indian sweet and sour chutney with cheese .... A great combination . Next we ordered organic roasted chicken with chicken risotto . Roasted chicken was good , as I'm not pakka non-vegetarian , my taste buds are limited to Indian types of marination only , so not their fault . But the chicken risotto was yummmm 😋 , the sauce was very very nice , I have never tasted this kind of risotto before . In fact I have tried mushroom n cheese risotto at 2-3 restaurants and I always hated its bland taste as it is tasteless patient food . For vegetarian dish we ordered grilled vegetables with grilled halloumi cheese , greens and black hummus . However I got only two pieces of grilled paneer rather than halloumi cheese but I forgot to notice that because we were very busy exploring the Black Hummus . I have heard it for first time and tasted for first time only - it was very tasty , nutty and smooth . From pizza section we ordered Pondicherry veg pizza with Paneer and sun dried tomato toppings - was really good . Exceptional was their pink pasta - I thought pink pasta means pasta in white and red sauce which we normally call as pink sauce . But it was fresh home made beetroot pasta in white sauce and herbs - very soft pasta with sweetness of beetroot was complimented with little pungent flavour of red onions . Overall it was a great evening well spent at very neat and clean , calm place with excellent and unique dishes . This is the place where I would like to again and again whenever I visit Pondicherry 😊 .
Beautiful place with lots of greenery on the outside and French style sitting on the inside with high ceilings.
Food was really good but the service was very slow.
In love with this city and now with this restaurant absolutely amazing food and Ambience
Very good ambience, staff was very helpful. Pasta and Humus was fantastic
Incredible food, light on the stomach and the most amazing new York cheesecake, a great choice for people who don't want their desserts to be overly sweet . Ate the black pepper prawns and pizza, we specially loved that they put in a lot of fresh veggies in the non vegetarian food as well :)
The most tasty food! Goat cheese pizza is the best ❤️
Coromandel was on the same street as our Hotel and the nearest eating joint too.
We had read about the place so were keen to visit and hence were okay even to wait as there was a long waiting time when we reached.
The place was exactly the same as we had hoped, lots of green, lights to make it look even prettier.
The staff was courteous enough to offer us a corner table on our request as we were dying with hunger.
We ordered ourselves beers to beat the heat and a Pondicherry Pizza which was fresh, flavorsome and loaded with toppings. Also, we were told that its made of organic flour.
We treated ourselves at the bakery to have something sweet which was great too.
Bright start to my morning!
Ordered the spinach Benedict and a lemon ginger tea, both which elevated my morning immensely. Highly recommend the Benedict, which not only looked inviting but had a perfect balance of poached egg, blanched spinach and acidic hollandaise.
Add to this image a calming ambience under the trees! Definitely fit to be in the top 50 of India's restaurants.
Wow, the food is as good as the decor of your cafe. I never imagined fresh Mozzarella sandwich could taste so good. And the BLT too. I only wish my food was served sooner though. Definitely on my favourite list now. Thanks for the experience.
A must visit place if you are in Puducherry. Manager Anand was very helpful in reserving a table for us at the last minute but try reaching this place by 6:30 to get a reservation. Kid friendly as they have a library inside . We had ordered Pondicherry special pizza, Pasta, and home made chicken curry with Pulao.. 10/ 10 👍🏻
Beautiful place, always super crowded, please book in advance before you go. It gives you an insight of pondicherry beautiful French heritage. Quaint and surreal despite being full. And great food as well.
Great food, great ambiance and location, excellent service.Food is good but a lil overpriced. Would definitely recommend. This place is fantastic! vinoth was our man (great server).service was friendly, professional.Highly recommended.
The place is really fancy and food is good. Ambiance wise it's a must visit. Though it's a bit expensive. But worth visit
Our last day in pondicherry and heard so much about this cafe so we went to dine in here. It was afternoon and the place was busy, but we got the table after 5-10 min of waiting. Interiors were beautiful including the chairs, table, decor, cutlery. We ordered mac n cheese, mushroom bagel, blue berry cheesecake, wine. Apart from mac n cheese which i felt was little bland everything was delicious. Coming on to the price yeah it is Little expensive but its worth.
Definitely a must visit cafe when in pondicherry
Food - 10/10
Hygiene - 10/10
Ambience - 10/10
One of the best restaurants in India. I had Mason and co chocolate pancakes and coffee Macchiato. Food is delicious. Excellent ambience. Polite staff.
We were strongly recommended to visit this place by our friends.. and the place didn't just live upto our expectations but it just put us in Awestruck state.. we were just zapped by the quality of food..
Loved the ambience, staff hospitality, food quality,
Just that at times felt the attendants were just running around and we had to call them out lot many times to place out orders..
Nevertheless, if I am on a vacation to chill, I am ok with this slow service too 😉
Amazing ambience!! Worth visiting once ! Day time night time both are enjoyable. Appetisers and bruschetta s are good.. pizza was okay. Desserts were also okay.
Dish: Posh N' Pink Tagliatelle
This pasta was served with caramalised onions, goat cheese and sprouts. It appeared to be non veg and yucky at first sight, but it was delicious.
Though price was a bit on higher side, but given the elegant, luxurious interiors of this boutique cafe, it doesn't pinch..
Advice: Go there in Evening time with amole amount of time. This cafe has got good premises..Open as well closed seating arrangements.
My all time favourite place in Pondy for a meal. I’ve been to almost every other good place but this place holds a special place in my heart.
Slightly overhyped. Nice ambience.
It was my first time in Pondicherry and my friends had suggested to visit couple of resturants ad cafes and thi was one of them. We reached Coromondel cafe at around 10:45 and they were closing down the breakfast, They said that they would serve drinks from 11:30 and dinner from 12:30. We were just in the mood of chilling hence sat down there. The outside space is really like a cool Garden with a varieties of plants, the weather was good too so we loved to sit there. There weren't many people in the cafe. They served the drinks to us early. We ordered Nimo Frost, and a Gin based cocktail. The alcohol taste in cocktails were very minimal and they could be made better, I have had better cocktails in a lot of restaurants in Bangalore.
For food we ordered just Prawns Sandwich and Veg Salad. Prawns Sandwich was filling but Veg Salad quantity was very less and wasn't worth the money we paid.5/5 for the Ambience and the cleanliness.5/5 for the service.
It was one of the best cafe to visit in the town. Lovely ambience, yummilicious food and photographic location. Must go food joint.
An absolutely beautiful cafe, perfect for any meal of the day. I visited this cafe for dinner. Table booking is recommended here as it gets quite crowded post 8 pm. The cafe is beautifully decorated and I found the dinner time ambiance to be truly romantic. The staff here is cordial and provides you with excellent suggestions. I tried the Crispy Prawns, Mango Pad Thai Salad, Caramelized Onions and Goat's Cheese Pizza with added Grilled Chicken and some delicious red wine. The prawns were cooked to perfection. They were soft and the crunchy batter gave this dish an added texture. The salad was a surprise for me. The greens, used in this salad, are not particularly my favorite. But when paired with the dressing and other ingredients, it was delicious. The pizza was thin crust but chewy, in a good way. The wine, recommended to us by our server, paired really well with all our dishes. This is a cafe that you do not wanna miss.
A beautiful quite cozy place located at white town. Lots of green, french architecture of the buildings, the ambience please your mind.
We ordered a cucumber mint cooler & bamboo island crunchy calamari. The cooler was nice, could have been better if the proportion of mint was less. The calamari was absolutely juicy & tasty.
Overall a nice experience.
To be absolutely fair and honest every integer and decimal of the 5 stars I have bestowed upon this place is dedicated to the culinary excellence that their beef fillet steak is! If you love meat, you will surely be delighted by it!
Cafe is extremely beautiful, great location, french architecture, polite staff. We tried Pink Sauce Pasta, Garlic Bread, Pizza, Walnut Cake. Everything was just perfect. Pricing is fair. Totally Recommended !
Rated by Conde Nast food guide amongst the top 50 restaurants in the country, Coromandel Cafe certainly lives upto its reputation. Lovely classy ambience, excellent variety in food and drinks, well- prepared dishes makes this place a must- visit food destination at White town, Pondicherry. It has an attached boutique and book shop- an ideal place to spend an afternoon with a book, with some scrumptious food and wine!
The best ambience in town, especially outdoor seating. We had a nice romantic dinner by the X-mas tree. This place gets really filled up, so make sure to get a reservation or arrive early. They have really nice pizzas. Selection felt a bit limited and pricing was on the higher side.
Loved the ambience of the place.. seating outside is much recommended for the evenings with lovely lights around the greenery. Coming on to the food, had a lot about the pink pasta and ordered the same. It was something different from the normal and is worth the try. However, the pizza, the Italian salami, was a big no. The staff is courteous and service is prompt.
The best cafe I've visited in Pondicherry. Must Try pink pasta, Veg. Bagel, Mac n cheese.
Very good place to hangout with friends. Great Staff and Good suggestions. Good cocktails.
It's worth the hype (and the long wait). The cheesecake was so soft and creamy! Their pork dishes were perfect. Highly recommend the Pita and Pink Hummus!
After having heard great reviews, we made it to this place for dinner. It is unusually charming with great aesthetics, just nice enough to get the conversation going.
Service, managers and servers are good to help with recommendations too.
Coming to food, it didnt quite match the expectations in both quantity and taste. Each of their meals in main course suffices one person and is mostly upwards of 300INR. The menu is quite limited too.
It tastes good, but not something I'd remember or come back to this place for. The potion size too is less.
So go there to experience the vibe, but not for great food.
Good place to eat with good portions. Definitely worth the money.
The only issue is if you happen to come during holiday season you can forget about dining here, you will not get tables and the wait is long. The staff is also a bit rude to guests and favours foreigners.
Maybe get take away?
Food is good. I really liked their Orange French toast and the spicy bagel. Pancakes, bacon sandwich, chicken sandwich are good. I expected the ambience to be really fancy. Service is fast. Their latte is okay but double shot coffee with chocolate is good.
The only item I didn’t like much is there hot pink spinach Benedict
The atmosphere is surreal....timings are also very suitable...outdoor and indoor both options are available...price is little bit costly and the portions could've been more but you can visit there once to experience one of the best cafe in Pondicherry...The staffs are very well behaved. Also, it is pet friendly. We went there to have dinner and without drinks our total bill was 1880 Rs. We had Pork Chops, Beef Skewer and Seafood Spaghetti...all dishes were fresh and very tasty. Also they have good vegetarian options.
Good place, have heard a lot about it so gave a try. Had crispy prawns which were good, then tried mashed potatoes 🥔 they were okayish, then had margarita pizza which was cheesy and yummy. Tried their carrot cake as well which was different and amazing. The place was buzzing with people during the lunch time around 2 pm. Its walkable from rock beach. Liked the ambience as well.
One place where everything is at its best. And this makes the place a busiest cafe. Loved the place, food, service, atmosphere and everything what come with this place. The wait time was worth as the medium rare beef steak was so good with a lovely sauce. Although would recommend the mashed potato to order also which would complete the food and taste. Completed the food with Elaneer sherbet and then the final part.. the best out of all.. the Carrot Cake.. never had so good a sweet dish as this.. would definitely recommend for all times..and also the burnt cheesecake. And a reasonable price. Best place and would definitely recommend..👌
Great ambience both indoors and outdoors. The food is brilliant and with many veg options. Some amazing snacks (we ordered cheese balls, Lebanese dip, pizza, Korean paneer skewers and an aurbigine cutlet) and a wide variety of teas and coffee. It is worth the hype and a must visit if you are in white town.
However the person at the entry giving wait times is abnoxious, arrogant and rude. Said the waiting time is an hour but we got a table in 10 mins! He seemed hell bent in sending customers away. The staff in the restaurant is attentive and prompt.
The café is truly amazing; the food tastes superb, and the ambiance is excellent. We ordered the French Creamy Seafood plate, BBQ Korean Chicken, and Salted Caramelized Brownie with vanilla ice cream. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
In our 3 days stay in Pondicherry we ate twice here for Lunch and dinner. The food was amazingly delicious and service top class. Prices are a bit on the higher side but portions are good. Very impressive selection of dishes on the menu. Loved it.
It was our first visit to Coromandel Cafe, Pondicherry. We were celebrating something special and it was a perfect spot. The ambience with the holiday lighting as well as the food made it memorable. We were savouring every bite of the goat cheese, caramelised onion on pesto pizza. It was simply exquisite followed by a heart helping of apple crumble on vanilla ice cream! Even for a random Wednesday visit we had to wait for tables proving its popularity. Depending on the condition you can be seated outside or indoors. Do visit in the evenings for a magical experience.
I went for a 5 day trip to Pondicherry and visited this place thrice!
The ambience is lovely, both inside and outside. The service was excellent the food was exquisite.
Highly recommend the best dishes we had -
Grilled Fish
Crispy Prawn
Fish & Chips
Burnt Cheesecake
We tried the Mac & Cheese, Pork chops, Seafood spaghetti, Korean BBQ chicken, Prawn Pizza, Pesto Pizza & Goat Cheese Pizza all of which were better than average in terms of taste and presentation. While the Eggs Benedict, widely praised in Google reviews, wasn't to our preference, it's not bad—just not up to the standard set by their lunch and dinner menu. I highly recommend making this your first stop when in Pondicherry.
