I've found the desert of my calling! Had the white chocolate and caramel, just loved every lick! Hope they start a branch in Bangalore too!
My wife had lover's chocolate which we felt was a little bitter, did not like it, wasted half of it but taste I would say is subjective, we just didn't like it so not take anything away from them.
Also I only got to know by the reviews now that they provide a half n half option, please advertise the same, your flavours are all so tempting that we would have loved to sample more.

It's amazing to see sucha wide range of flavours. The staff is polite but I think need need to hire more people because this place is always crowded. It's a bit pricey but get unusual flavours here so I think it's good for sometimes.
GMT was a place that I frequented every day during my stay in Pondi and rightly so. The gelato they serve here is soo luscious and creamy, it's hard to not crave for more. What's even better is the unique flavour profiles you get to choose from, be it fruit or chocolate.
They also have a half and half of 2 flavours option which makes things even better.
Here's what I had-
Brownie and Italian Gianduja - I loooooooooovvedd these two flavours combined together. The brownie flavour was spot on and densely chocolatey but not the limit where it is overpowering. The Italian Gianduja was one with loads of hazelnuts in it that added a crunch element and a sense of richness to this duo. I found myself having this combination multiple times during my stay, owing to the gelato's lusciousness and spot on flavours
GMT is one of my highly recommended places to visit in Pondi. Go on, grab a scoop or ten and laze around with it on the beach nearby!

Right at the Promenade, this place is quite popular for the handcrafted Gelatos. Amod tried one of their chocolate variants. Whereas as we had Chocolate muffin.

We went to GMT for desserts each day when were at Pondicherry.
Well, to be honest GMT's ice cream is not that great in reality. It's just that there's not a better ice cream shop or ice cream option in Pondicherry than GMT.
But for it's worth, we enjoyed having our dessert sessions at GMT. We tried many ice creams. Loved the Dubai Cream Ice Cream the most.
I would have rated this place as 5 stars, but the pricing is expensive, so 1 star less for it.
The tiramisu ice cream was delicious. They have so many varieties of ice creams and that too totally in the budget.

There are great options with alcohol which is the best combo of sugar and alcohol, both to give you a kick.

It's a heaven for a Gelato lover like me. A wide variety of flavors and every possible ice cream flavour is present here. Located near Promenade Beach, one can either have the gelato while sitting in their outlet or while taking a stroll on Promenade Beach. I got a chance to try Hazelnut, Nutella and Milk, Russian Flair (Apple and Vodka) and Red Cherry. Definitely going to visit during my next trip to Pondicherry.
When we decided to visit pondicherry, I had made a wishlist of restaurants and this was on the top of it, obviously considering its the highest rated place here.
So after our lunch, when we were taking a stroll near the beach, we went in here to add magic to our stroll with these yummy icecreams. It was drizzling outside, but that didn't stop us from ordering these yumminess.
We ordered one very berry which had all the berries and one with a hazelnut flavour. Both of them very tasty and unlike other icecreams, they were very soft.

Apparently this is the best place for some gelato in Pondicherry. They have a lot of options to choose from. We did try around 6 of them and they were all good.

The variety they have is pretty cool. Not the usual flavors. I tried the dubai cream which is a combination of Milk, Almonds, Chocolate and dates. Totally loved it. The vanilla and butterscotch were good too. A must try place! The prices were very nominal. Quantity could maybe increased.
The GMT was listed in many blogs as a must visit place for a food crawl in Pondicherry. We did not make a plan to specially visit this parlour, but ran into it while we went for dinner on the Rock Beach promenade. I was surprised to see the wide and unique range of ice creams that this place was offering. I do not remember the flavour that I had, but I can vouch that the flavours were appetizing.

There's ice-cream, there's premium/exotic ice-creams and then there's GMT ice-cream. The toughest part may well be pronouncing their name...Gelateria Montecatini Terme...quite a mouthful for those not initiated to European languages.
But you set that inconsequential detail aside and enter the store, you come across a wonderfully decorated display of ice creams of all colours. The rippled desserts in the freezers are garnished with leaves of the fruit in question or candied slices of the same. Makes you immediately fall in love with it!
They have not only the regulars like vanilla and butterscotch, and single fruit ice creams like strawberry and mango, but some really interesting and unique combinations....mango+jackfruit+pineapple, caramel+Himalayan salt, goat milk+honey, apricot+peach+chocolate, chickoo+milk, dates, melon....you get the idea.
Totally confused on where to begin, we finally settled for Irish Cream - Milk, Egg and Irish Whisky, and Sicilia - Pista, Almond and Orange.
I was blown away by the taste, smoothness, richness and sheer quality of the ice cream. Never had such good icecream ever before. Makes the Haagen-Dazs es and the Naturals of the world bite dust.
We couldn't just settle at one. We quickly topped up with another round, going for Tiramisu and Chocolate Orange this time. I've had Tiramisu elsewhere too but this rendition simply was the best I've had. And Chocolate Orange is a classic combination one can't go wrong with.
Now I'm eager to visit them again to try out the other flavours.
Can't recommend them more. And in case you don't feel like driving down to Pondy, they also have outlets in Chennai and Bangalore!
Having read the reviews I had made it a point to have at least one dessert at GMT. It is located at the far end of the beach if u enter from the ECR side.
There was a lot of rush so I could not get a chance to try different flavours. I had the flavour which looked visually the most appealing :)...Strawberry. The Gelato was very good, creamy and smooth. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was not icy or thin like some of the others. However, the pieces of Strawberries in the gelato were frozen and almost tasted unnatural. I would have loved to try other flavours but that was the drawback of going during peak time (dinner).
Best way to end an amazing day. GMT is located on the beach road. You can purchase your icecream and enjoy at the beach. I tried coconut , mango, chikoo , guava, litchi, tiramisu, venezia,tropical, berry flavour. They have very affordable price.
All flavours were super tempting. But i would like to make it easy to choose. You should first try coconut ice cream. Then , if there is some space in your calorie budget, You can also try guava and mango.

Pondy , tackled hair by the beach wind and gelatos. A small 7 - 8 ppl can be occupied place, Located right opp to rock beach. This place is a gem and rightly hyped. Gelatos are egg free and organic milk is used in the making process.
Huge options on display. I almost took an decade to choose. So many finest new flavour n they keep changing.
1) In the cup i tried blackberry gelato, tangy , flavourful and fresh. 💯
2) A huge fan of vanilla bean. And a constant . So real vanilla bean and Italian jianduja was in the cone. Combination of milk , hazelnut and Chocolate.
I must say it was silky , smooth and all sorts of amaze.
I would happily say I had the best Italian gelatos without stepping into Italy .
3) After 8 - I don't why I chose this , probably I felt for name I guess😂 . A combination of dark chocolate , milk and mint. Very explosive in the mouth. Yet tasty.

A good place form ice cream lovers. There are many flavours of ice-cream most of which you won't find in any regular outlets. For example, chilli chocolate ice cream, mango & pine nut ice cream, etc.

GMT is a must visit place when in Pondicherry. It has a wide range of ice creams available and not only the common flavors but we got to see unique flavors as well. We tried Bacardi and Whisky flavors that were really like bacardi and whisky. Other flavors included jamun, fig, etc. Price was around 80-90. Best thing is that it is along Rock beach and one can enjoy there ice cream while walking along the sea.

It is located on one of the most beautiful locations in INDIA, had russian flair ice cream, which had vodka in it. It was fantastic. Must visit place it is.
It's a tiny nook right infront of the beach, had five different flavours of Gelato. It's a must try!

This is undoubtedly the best dessert spot along the beach. They’ve got jaw-dropping combinations for their Ice-creams.
First up, the Mochaccino Cone which had great flavour of Coffee, Chocolate and Hazelnut. It was all blended well and couldn’t praise one taste in particular. Though the cream was good, the cone waffle was the star since I’ve never tasted such a sweet, quality and tasteful cone waffle ever. The Tiramisu Cup had flavours of Cheese and Cocoa Powder. It was coarse in spots but wickedly satisfying.
The Bacio with Dark chocolate and Hazelnut deserves a pay-raise. The sour taste along the sweetness is a bliss for all cacao lovers.
Though this is a small place with just two tables around, you could just buy your cup, cross the road and walk across to the beach to enjoy your scoop of joy.
Amazing ice-creams are available at this outlet. The good part is the combination of flavours that are giving is really amazing and soothing. If you are going to Pondicherry, you must visit this place and have ice creams.
The hands down absolutely best place to eat gelato in Pondicherry. Made from free range eggs and organic milk their gelato is soft, creamy and deliciously flavored. We ordered the Irish whisky and the caramel machiato with Himalayan salt. Both were spectacular. We definitely hope to visit their Chennai store too.

Roaming in the beach on a hot and humid sunny day was very tiresome and my mom gave a thought of having an icecream. With no second thoughts went straight to this small gelataria and ordered Italian ganduja, coconut and brownie flavored gelatos. All three of them were outstanding flavors and my mom really liked the coconut flavor. Overall a nice place to have a gelato after a hot humid day.
Yum yum yum icecreams... u actually feel like trying all of thier flavours...but mg appetite did not let me allow.. since i was travelling with an infant i had to settle on a milk chocolate flaviur served to me in a waffle cone.. the cone was fresh and crisp and icecream was good too... but since my palate needed some more pampering and i happen to be a tiramisu living person, so as soon as the seller adviced me to try their hot selling tiramisu icecream flavour i jumped on the offer and asked to give me a small scoop in a cup... wont deny that it is a must try especially if u have a palate for liquer icecream... just too good.. also my tummy refused to support me after two scoops of icecream else i would have indefinitely had mang kore flavours and written a more elaborate review of each flaviur tried... do go if u an icecream person...
Pondicherry has a humid climate in the month of May, so during evenings when you have a walk in the Promenade beach side you would surely crave for some ice cream badly. GMT is one of the signature ice cream parlour with hardly 4-5 seating space where you can find fruit and their special flavours from Rs.40/- to Rs.100/-
So we went ahead and tried their most famous Sicilia one which was suggested by the host, a orange, pista and almond flavoured ice cream. To be honest it was very different/i did not enjoy it as the orange peel flavour was dominating.
May be you can try another flavour, but yes the quality and quantity is good. And I must mention when you need an air conditioner after that walk in that humid air. So of course, you can step in for that sake too.

What can i say about this place. I love ice cream and this place was like heaven for me.. So many different flavours and all were amazing. The best part was that the quantity was sufficient and it was not too expensive. We were three people and tried 13 flavours. Really loved this place.

GMT is the locally sourced ice-cream franchise in Pondicherry. It is extremely famous and has branch in Promenade beach and Paradise beach boat house. It is in fact the highest rated restaurant amongst the whole Union Territory.
So, naturally we went in with high expectations! The store is located just at the start of Promenade beach and as such, you will always find it crowded.
A small place with a display housing more than 20 types of ice cream. From weird combinations like Chocolate & Orange to all time favourites Tiramisu. I personally, tried three flavours! But I am still a bit disappointed I could not try more!
The portion size is a bit small compared to the price you are paying. However, a neat little trick is to ask for half and half of multiple flavours, so you can taste different varieties.
The ice creams were good no doubt, but it did not deserve 5 stars. I have had much better ice creams at much more value.
The staff were well behaved and efficient at their service. There is minimal seating within the shop, but it is best if you take your ice cream and stroll along the sea while enjoying it. But please remember not to litter!

I visited this place on my trip to Pondicherry. Trust me, this ice cream parlour needs to be in your bucket list if you ever happen to visit the French colonies of Pondicherry. Located opposite to the Rock Beach, this parlour sits with a wide variety of ice cream.
From a range of chocolate flavours, to mango, to coconut, to litchy, to pineapple, to berries... just name it and you'll find it here.
If you are looking for a twist, then do try out the Irish Cream and the Bacardi flavours.

GMT is synonymous with Pondicherry. Everyone I know who has visited Pondicherry, has visited GMT as well, especially this branch because it is opposite Rock Beach.
Not much emphasis on ambience, because most of the people prefer having their gelatos while taking strolls at the beach. The service was above average.
Had a few tastings but decided to order the ones I've not tasted. Ordered half portions of Pistachio and Bacardi each. Bacardi one tasted great, but I was a little disappointed with the Pistachio one. It tasted more like roasted peanuts/almonds, but not like pistachios.
The gelatos here are priced pretty decently. The most expensive flavor wouldn't cost you more than 100 bucks and you can opt to get 2 flavors half and half.

This place has some of the best gelatos in Pondicherry. The Madagascar chocolate is to die for. The berry yoghurt gelato is also very good. Would definitely go back if in Pondicherry.
Situated right opposite the rock beach and that statue, GMT is one of the best gelatos I’ve ever had. And at the price at which they are offering it is extraordinary. All the flavours are true to their name and they circle their menu now and then.
Absolute must visit if you're in Pondi. Best Gelato in White town, hands down.
Ate tiramisu, strawberry chocolate waffle ice cream and a coffee walnut. Loved it to the core, especially the strawberry chocolate ice cream. One of the best ice creams I've so far had.
The gelatos tasted as exotic as the name of the place sounds. Located straight opposite to rock beach. They've got a very small seating. There wide range of flavors will leave you spoilt for choices. We tried tiramisu and classic chocolate. Both were tasting brilliant. This place is going to be my must visit everytime I go to pondy.

My favourite gelato place in all of Pondicherry!!!
When I first visited Pondicherry 2 years ago my friend and I would have atleast one scoop of gelato everyday, two years later we did the same.
They have a wide choice which left me confused. I never know what to choose, I want everything.
Their gelatos are perfect and are not pricey at all. As opposed to one scoop for 200rs in Goa, this was for 50-70rs.
My personal favourite is the Himalayan salted caramel, my bf loved the Dubai chocolate and we also liked the beer, Irish cream, Bacardi, pineapple, litchi flavours.
Please do visit this place for gelato. It is mandatory for you to do so while visiting the rock beach.

Happened to visit here during my tour to Pondicherry a month ago and fell in love with this place the moment I had my first bite. I was so in love with this place that I ended up eating 5 different flavour ice creams at the same time.
I had the following flavours:
Cherry Cheesecake:
Best pick out of all flavours. Classic vanilla ice cream mixed with some berry syrup and real seedless cherries. I wish I could've eaten it everyday.
Tiramisu:
What more to expect when you get a ice cream with cake which is soaked in rum? Each bite of this will give you a mild taste of rum with the sweetness of the sponge cake.
Coffee:
Felt like was having a genuine cold coffee. I am a lover of coffee flavoured ice cream.
Dubai Cream:
Milk ice cream with lots of figs, almonds and honey. Unique in its own. This is a risky one. Only a few will like it. I liked it though.
Litchi:
Milk Ice cream with litchi juice and slices. Very sweet to the mouth. Sweet tooth people, do not miss this one.
Verdict: Located in Promenade beach, this place is easy to spot and attracts a lot of customers. The quality it serves is simply amazing and you won't find any other outlet in the city that matches them. This place is a sure not to miss place when in Pondicherry. Deserves all the ratings it has.
GMT undoubtedly has the best gelato in Puducherry. It is a tiny but easy-to-locate outlet towards the end of the Rock beach. The ice creams are rich, flavourful and most importantly, inexpensive. Also, there’s plenty to choose from (about 30 amazing flavors) and the staff is pretty courteous and helpful when it comes to choosing the right one for your taste buds. I would recommend their tiramisu, brownie, and almond flavored gelato.
To people visiting Pondicherry or in and around the Rock Beach or Heritage Town, this is a “must have” experience. I suggest you visit this place to quench your ice cream craving.

AMBIENCE :Nothing much to talk about. Clean with very few seating arrangements.
FOOD : Words fall short of how good the ice creams were. We tried the Cortina, Marengo, Classic chocolate, brownie chocolate and the blackberry flavours. Each one was good however the Cortina and the brownie chocolate were the best of the lot.

GMT (Gelateria Montecatini Terme)- At one end of the main promenade, they offer a variety of gelatos ranging from Rs60-100 per serving. We tried the milk Chocolate, coffee, himalyan salted caramel, tiramisu and figs but couldn’t get enough of it. They don’t have much seating and the best is to pick one and sit at the beach and enjoy.

Tiramisu was perfect
I suggest you to get a cup like seriously they melt up so fast. I took the gelato in a cone which was charged 10/-rs extra.
The taste was too good. I never had a gelato which was as good as this.!

I rarely give 5 stars.
But the classic chocolate gelato ( 66% Coco powder and 34% Coco butter) here is just to die for. The best dark chocolate ice cream I have ever had.
Other flavours are good as well.
Just pick your favorite flavour. Walk out and sit on the promanade to enjoy it.
This place serves really awesome flavours. I loved it. Try their mint chocolate ice cream.
Though they donot have arrangements for tasting but they are very polite.
Must visit place when you are in Pondicherry.

All flavours tasted yum and the prices are very reasonable.

Totally loved lover's chocolate and strawberry chocolate. I recommend trying fruit flavours. They are really yum....
This place has awesome ice cream flavors and the taste is also good. Located on the rock beach, you can enjoy your ice cream next to the sea. You can try them all, literally.
When you are on beach side and carving for ice cream this is the best place to visit when you are near Rock beach PONDICHERRY.

3 scoops full cups and bill was 230/-., Which is the cost of one scoop in Chennai or any metro.
This is one of the best ice cream parlors I have been to through out.
Their ice cream does really melt the moment you take a bite.
By the time we went the store was almost clean swiped but am glad I got to taste their famous tiramisu which was really mind blowing.
It was really really good.
So is their Bacardi which is a milk and honey icecream.
If one is in Puducherry... this is a must go to place!!
Best ice creams I've tried in pondicherry. Just pick an icecream and sit on the rocks on the beach and your evening will be set. GMT serves many varieties of ice cream at a place ice not more than 80 rupees per cup. You can ask for a combination of 2 ice creams in the same cup (half cup each). TIRAMISU IS MUST TO TRY. If you ho to the beach don't forget to try this place. You won't regret going to this place.
Don't go by the pics - it's not as swanky as it looks. But the gelato they serve blow these swankier places out of the park! Had their blueberry, vanilla and strawberry flavours and I wished I could eat some more ice cream. The portion size is generous too and the prices very reasonable.
4 out of 5 cause I didn't quite expect the icy granules I found in all three flavours. Wanted it to be perfect but then what is? Must visit if you are in the white town part of Pondy and have a thing for ice creams.
Mouthwatering ice creams, the tiramisu is something that I cant forget. One of the best ice creams at this place. On the cool breezy beach side having GMT ice cream is something ine should relish love and enjoy taking a walk on the beach side with melting delicious waffle.....
Guys must have ice cream from this place in white town just opposite to the Promenade beach.

Tried this different ice cream place at the end of the beach. Each scoop cost 100 inr. Wanted to try special ones so ordered Irish cream and Russian Flair. The Irish Cream tasted a bit bitter similar to black coffee and Russian Flair tasted Apple and strong vodka taste but in a good way. Missed the whiskey ice cream as it was not available on that day. The ice cream texture was creamy and of good quality too. VFM definitely.
It's an amazing shop next to the Statue of Dupleix,near the beach. The gelatos and icecreams are extremely yummy and old school flavours. The price of each cup ranges about 80 - 120 rupees. And the quantity is sufficiently full. The shop is tiny with no seating space as such. But the vibe super vintage with 90s tamil and old ilayaraja songs running in the background.
The shop is located near the Statue of Dupleix. The ice cream was great, we ordered two different flavors, one cashew flavor and one coffee flavour. Both were good. Slightly expensive at 200 for the two ice creams, but it's Actually quite filling as they don't skimp out on the quantity.

Excellent Ice Cream place on Rock Beach. Wide and Yummy variety of flavours. Coordial staff. Perfect place to buy an ice cream and have it by the sea. Quite busy and popular. Must visit for a post dinner stroll icecream by the sea.

One of the nicest gelatos i tested while in pondy, definitely a must try. The Google maps stops in the back side road, you just have to park your vehicle there and walk to the beach road and you'll kind the location. Highly recommended.
Amazing place to eat Gelato. Consistently Great taste, Apt pricing, adequate quantity. Have been to this place in our every trip of Puducherry.
Huge variety, perfect location and Hygienic place. I recommend this to all my friends, family members and people travelling to Puducherry to try this. You will go there again for sure.
Looking for some good gelato, well this is the place to be at. It is a small outlet right at the end of the rock beach and gets quite busy after dinner time.
They have a lot of varieties, both chocolate based and fruit based. The display looks so attractive, with all the options, that it makes it difficult for you to choose which ones to go for. You can try and taste a few options if the place is not crowded.
We tried 5 different varieties. The Italian Gianduja was the best of all, with milk chocolate and hazelnut flavour in it. The Raspberry Pannacotta and the strawberry cheesecake were delightful, similar taste though.
The Bacio which is a dark chocolate hazelnut based flavour and Chocolate Crunch which was kinda bland, were not as good as the other ones.
They have some of the finest Italian icecreams and after a nice meal from the close by cafes and restaurants you can always stroll across the end of the rock beach, buy some icecream and sit at the shore savoring it.
Loved icecream 🍦🍦 . The taste was wonderful. All ice cream was made with natural products. You can feel the flavours of every bite. The cost of ice cream flavour will not be above 200.
In overall it was wonderful experience with GMT ice cream 🍨.

Very good place for savouring varied tastes of Italian Ice Creams. Lots of flavours to choose from including Jack fruit, Pineapple, Water Melon, and Tender Coconut. Excellent location near the beach (Rock Beach). The place do not have seating facilities, but one can enjoy it by the beach side.
Not to miss this place if you like gelatos. Wide varieties and quick service. Tried gelatos and other desserts from white Town as well as pondy marina outlet, and both were equally good.
There's no seating arrangement here however you could grab a cup and enjoy it on the rock beach which is just across the street.

No seating area. However, it is opposite the rock beach promenade so you can sit on one of the benches there.
One of the best gelato. We tried Mixed berries and Strawberry. It was so so good. Quantity was also high for a reasonable price. Only takeaway available there is no seating arrangement. It is right beside the beach. Def must try.
Most variety of ice cream available here. Ice cream lover really like the place and enjoy it. Children love most flavours available here. Rate also moderate and good taste. When you go rock beach just enjoy the icecream one time.
