This place is run by a bunch of women. It is a quite place in the terrace of an old bungalow. I went there for breakfast. This is a purely vegetarian place. Their homemade pan cakes were really good. The service was very fast. There's also a shop with trinkets, clothes and showpieces beneath the restaurant
What a beautiful place. Sweetest serving people. Ambiance is something to look out for.I would recommend this place and suggest one should visit the place for breakfast. One of the nicest places in Pondicherry.
Very friendly and courteous staff. The place was calm, green and very relaxing.
I recommend morning breakfast lunch or evening tea at the place will be relaxing
One of the best cafe I've been to in Pondicherry. Recommended to me by a friend. Kasha ki Asha is a gallery cafe run by local women and features a gallery of local handicrafts. The place is quite and humble. The two page simple menu itself speaks of their simplicity. It doesn't have much to offer but whatever it offers is simply out of this world!!!
This place is quietly tucked away in a quaint corner in white town. It is managed by very nice women who made us feel completely at home with some really good and hearty breakfast. The menu is pretty standard. We loved the waffles and Spanish omelettes. A lot of things on the menu were not available and that was a bit of a let down. Nevertheless it was a good breakfast experience and would surely recommend this place.
We were pretty quick to find this place after scooting around Pondy for a couple of days. The no frills ambiance of the place was a big draw for us and it was quite welcoming to just fold up your legs and enjoy a good meal.
Chapathy and Dal, Onion Dosai, Chips and chutney, a glass of fresh apple juice and an apple pie, we were all set to doze off at the drop of a hat. On the contrary, we didn’t feel bloated, and yet full to our heart’s desire. The big plate sized chapatis and dal was as simple and tasty as it could get. The dal was slightly different from what we generally have in the western part of the country, but we ain’t complaining with that amazing taste. We were surprised to see that our order of Onion dosai had 2 dosas, instead of the regular one. The dosa batter seemed to be fermented so well that the dosais turned out to be light and easy on the stomach. Absolutely loved the chutneys that came along, but found the same dal instead of regular sambar. As we indulged ourselves in these dishes, our smiling lady attendant got our chips and chutney and left us speechless.
Chips, as mentioned in the menu were regular sized papaddams, but they didn’t mention that they would serve……. 20 of them along with the chutney. With all our might, we managed to eat about 7 and had to wrap up the rest. Meanwhile, the idling and pulpy apple juice was just correct with its sweetness. In all its probability, they let the natural sugars of the fruit do all the talking, which made the juice refreshing. In all our times eating at different bakeries, restaurant or dessert parlors, we never saw an apple pie of that size. It was so perfectly baked that apple had just the light amount of crunch left and the grid arrangement of pastry on the top made sure that the pie didn’t turn heavy.
Some of the dishes are on the expensive side, but most of the them came with good portion sizes, which justified the prices. The point of foremost importance at Kasha ki Asha is, that it is run efficiently by a handful smiling ladies. The arts store cum rooftop café is artistic at the ground level and casual at the top. There’s no fancy air about the place and everything still looks appealing. It takes immense amount of effort to run around with a tray full of plates and climb a flight of stairs “n” number of times in a day. The homely feeling that you might want outside your home can be achieved here at KKA.
Thumbs up to the ambience and the friendly staff.
This restaurant is on the terrace of an old bungalow.
A nice place to relax and have a well organized lunch.
This place is great for a nice leisurely lunch. It's situated on the roof of a beautiful old bungalow that has an interesting collection of clothes and trinkets on the ground floor.
All the food is fresh and healthy, with a focus on great ingredients. The black bean burger was hearty and flavourful with a crunchy salad and some homemade bread. The Indian enchiladas were very healthy and light. Fresh pineapple juice was pulpy and delicious.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in Pondy!
I had bookmarked this place as a must visit on my next trip to Puducherry. Although I was running short of time, somehow I was able to squeeze in my visit to this place on the morning I was leaving! My visit was pretty quick but was enough to tie my strings to it for a regular on all my future trips to Puducherry. This gallery cum restaurant is very structured and is a royal treasure to the eyes, if vintage soothes you. The display by itself qualifies as an exhibition. The apparels, artifacts, paintings just about everything in this place very inviting. The humble interiors and the extremely polite and well-trained women servers of this place, are enough to uplift any sort of day you are going to have ahead. I was amazed at the simplicity yet the meticulous hosting mannerism adopted by the ladies working there. One of them was polite enough to tour me through the entire place and also informed that every Saturday they have live music and also serve alcohol only on that day (mark your calendars if your weekend is in Pondy).
Great ambience. Very friendly staff. I really liked their message on their menu. However I felt it was a little pricey. Nonetheless, a great experience overall!
This is the best place for chilling. Although it does not serve alcohol, but the setup of the place is quite simple and appealing. Really great place for chilling. And the food is also good.
Ambience all the way! This traditional looking place has a small cafe on the rooftop with the straw rooftop. Although it has a limited menu but the service is very fast and efficient. Food tasted well. I would not say outstanding but ambience takes over everything.
You have to take off your shoes at the entrance on the ground floor to get on the first floor where the cafe is. They have everyday menu as well. If u get a chance try the pani puri and you will know the difference between a pani puri of North and south. Eat it only to educate your palette. :)
They had a live band this evening so got completely lucky listening to two Brazilian singers live while the ceiling fans worked there way well to keep us cool and the house wine served the internal senses.

We spent hours here, hogging and just sitting, doing nothing, at some points not even talking…just being quiet! That is the type of place Kasha Ki Aasha is. And if you love such places, you will love this one!
The women who run the café come upstairs from time to time to ask for any order or you can go to the stairs and holler for someone but apart from that, they let you be. No one keeps poking asking if you want anything more, something we Mumbaikars, or for that matter, metro-dwellers are not used to!
The café is open only until 7 p.m. which is really sad considering the ambience is perfect for spending your evenings!!
It was closed on two occasions and we finally managed to go there on the 3rd attempt. They didn't have electricity that day so it was extremely hot. They have a gift shop on the ground floor and the cafe is on the roof top (closed). We went there with high expectations but were slightly disappointed. The food was delicious but I found it a little pricey for its taste/quality.
I had the dosai pizza, my friend had the wheat pancakes and another one had the black bean burger. We washed it down with ice tea.
Also their service wasnt very satisfactory. They would ask for order, serve us and then forget about us. They wouldn't come and ask us if we need anything else, so we have to go down and tell them ourselves.
It's a kitchen run only by women and you should visit this place to tick it off your list.
It's a small place that you could miss if you blinked. Managed and run by a group of women, it's a quiet place for tourists to shop, eat and chillax. I'd recommend their pancakes served with fresh homemade jam as a must. Their dosai pizza is not very impressive and not worth the price. Fresh fruit juices again a thumbs up!
Very homestyle cafe on the terrace. Super relaxed and comfortable. The food took ages but thats only because everything is prepared fresh. The omelette had the signature red chili powder that is so unique to the south of the country. The presentation was simple and the taste was like your foster south indian mom cooking in her kitchen. They have a whole calendar of events which looked very very interesting.
If you are in Puducherry, it's the best place to have breakfast. The homade pancakes were simply awesome, staff was friendly. Highly recommendable, I will make sure to come here again whenever I'm in Puducherry.

Even though food was not up to the mark it was a Pretty Chilled out place with an marvelous ambience . Best place to relax with your bae ;)
This was one of the best meals I had in Pondicherry. The ambience was very relaxing and very inviting. There is a nice and very tempting store when you enter and the restaurant is upstairs on the roof. The staff is all women and the ladies are amazing! They are very very polite, very sweet and very soft spoken.
I was here with a friend and both of us thoroughly enjoyed the Cool Thai noodle salad and the black bean burger. the burger is basically a deconstructed one and comes with the cutlets outside and was really really tasty.
We also really enjoyed our glasses of chilled iced coffee that came with a sugar syrup. The place was very relaxing and if you're ever in Pondicherry, then you really should drop by here!
The entire idea of traveling is getting exposed to newer things. Things you haven't seen or done before. Things you didn't expect you'd do. You experience things that affects your life. Experiences that impacts your life positively. Even the tiniest of the experience is a great deal at times. It's all about how you take it.
I dropped in at Kasha ki Asha on a sunny afternoon. You have to walk through a boutique selling clothes, soaps, agarbattis on the ground floor and then go to the rooftop café.
It's an all-female staff here. The food is supposed to be organic. We ordered a black bean Burger and a European thali. The European thali was pretty unique. It had two salads, three spreads (hummus, blue cheese spread and mashed potatoes) and two thick slices of in-house multigrain bread. The bread tasted really wholesome and the pasta salad was flavorful. The hummus was a little bland, but the blue cheese spread made up for it.
The burger was essentially two patties, with a side salad and two slices of bread. It was decent.
The service is polite and friendly, and sometimes the owner Kasha herself might come up to you to clear your plates or ask how you're doing. We had to ask for water, though. The atmosphere is charming - quiet, breezy and tastefully done. The price is worth it because the portions are generous.
Overall, I would recommend you drop in at least once while in Pondicherry.
The best place i have been in Pondicherry.
Eating place on first floor. Ground floor have good traditional collection of wardrobes for girls/women.
Service - whole place is served and maintained by women's.
Food/Quality/Taste- Awesome.
Tip: if u need something just go to stairs and call someone. They don't you unlike waiters from other restaurants unless u need something.
Lonely Planet lists this place for good vegetarian food in Pondicherry... Went here for lunch.. This place is run by a group of delightful ladies... It is a combination of a shop that displays apparel, home stuff, footwear etc and an open air cafe... Place has a very nice charm to it... We ordered the onion dosai along with dal roti.. The food per se is not something that you would keep going for more.. But for me it was about the overall experience that made me like this place :)
Mind blowing chocolate pancakes. MUST HAVE!!!
The ambience is damn chill. Happy servers. Great store below to browse through despite being over priced.
We really enjoyed the terrace. Great place to chat and catch up on some reading
Hey guys I visited u last time I was in Pondi n had an awesome lunch with you ... Still remember the two tall glasses of the freshest juice i have ever had...orange followed by pineapple juice ! And the baked bean enchiladas was simply delicious loaded with cheese:) Loved the ambience ... It's oh so raw yet done so much with taste ! The staff pleasantly served me ...happy to make me eat n eat :) But recently I came n you guys were closed :( So wanted my friend to try this place n she was just so eager but to our disappointment u were closed !! Hope next time we get lucky again to be with you guys :)
Loved the food and concept dining.
Only issue with this place is its closed on Sundays. and most ofthe time. do not count on this if it is an unplanned lunch.
Great place to hang out. Polite and friendly staff.
Each time I am here I order a coffee and a chocolate croissant, and another chocolate croissant and take away a couple of them too. They're absolutely delicious and melt in your mouth. :)
Go here for a quiet morning and yummy dosas. Worth a visit or two!
Ambiance:
Pretty chilled out setting. Roof top of a 1 storied building with wooden furnishing made me feel like home and relaxed with subtle breeze, plant pots to gaze on and enjoy the partly sunny ambiance.
Order:
1. Vegetable Burger
2. Plain Dosa
3. Omlette
4. Green Tea
5. Herbal Iced Tea
6. Orange Juice
Taste:
The teas were great, not very sugary and quite soothing for a brunch and the juice was fresh. The Omlette as my friends said was decent and less oily. The Dosa was tasty and crisp. The Burger was something different as it had no buns, it came with pattys with fresh chopped vegetables on them. It seemed like a different type of dish altogether.
Final word:
Quite pricey. Can work on improving the menu and the availability of the items on them.
Great organic food their fruit & cake and traditional pancakes were really yum and the fresh juices were thick with full fibre.
The place has a relaxed homely feel with a great hostess.
Good:
The rich pancakes
The shopping area on the ground floor - clothes, jewellery ..
Homely setting
Great breakfast place
Bad:
Limited options on the menu
KKA had some amazing salads and desserts option. Portion was just enough for two. The ambience is perfect and staff extremely courteous. Must visit when in Pondi (White town)
If you want to be woman in power, then empower other women - Nina Shaw. The above quote can be related to this cafe run by a bunch of smiling ladies.. Sweetest serving people.. Way to go..
The place is very neatly maintained.. This is old residence (or bungalow) which has been turned out to be a place of business.. When you enter you will find trinkets, clothes and showpieces for sale and the restaurant is located on the terrace.. Ambience is something to look out for..
We had 'Indian Enchilada' which is a hot chapati filled with lentils and salads with some cheese sprinkled.. We enjoyed the food and ordered some chocolate pan cakes and Vennila icecream.. Pancake was loaded with chocolates and truly homemade..
Though the prices of the food is overpriced I didn't bother to pay for it as we spent a quality one and half hour chatting and enjoying ourselves.. Service time was fairly good.. I'm likely to go back to this place and spend some time..
Hidden gem. We had an excellent lunch here with fresh juice. Their covered roof terrace is a perfect place to enjoy the shade on a hot day.
It's a small place located at the corner of the Surcouf Street in the White Town.
The Ground Floor is a boutique and the rooftop is the restaurant. The place has live performances on Saturday evenings usually.
The menu is very limited, though they are delicious.
The restaurant is a good place to hangout with friends or visit solo and enjoy the live performances.
A much popular cafe in the white town , will recommend to go if you are r
Traveling in august month as they have live music and concerts. Comfortable place to enjoy your coffee and juice
Nice space in beutiful post colonial building with bamboo roof 🌞 the food selection could be a bit bigger. Great life music every Saturday is a MUST to keep the music alive 😍
Kasha ki asha has all women employees. Rhe restaurant/cafe is on the terrace. The staff greets u with a lovely smile. I ordered pancakes which was served with home made orange jam n honey. I loved it.
A very serene, chilled out place on rooftop of a house, the staff is very courteous. The place is run by a bunch on women...who make some good fusion food. There's a shop with trinkets and showpieces beneath the restaurant. Every Saturday they have live music ( and also the only day they serve beer ). You can go sit and spend some good solitary time there. The menu is limited but will satisfy your taste buds.
Food- 3.5/5
Ambience- 4.5/5
Service-4.5/5
Great place for breakfast. Nice ambiance.
Laid back cafe as part of a gallery. Served by a bunch of women. Has some interesting fusion dishes. You can stay there as long as you want. When you want to leave you can just go down and the bill will be ready. Very well located close to the central part of the city. Has coffees snacks and some juices too. But it is not a place to go for a quick snack. The servers will come only when you call them.
Very nice ambience, pocket friendly eats and drinks
The place is hidden away in one of the bylanes in town. The place is coupled with a small boutique selling garments, trinkets, gem stones, books with the restaurant on the roof top. Not many tables - about 6-7. It's a very chilled out place - laid back, calm and peaceful. It is frequented by foreign tourists. They have live music on Saturday nights - jazz blues soul reggae . The food menu is quite limited but it's quite good and original - fusion items like Indian enchiladas made with chapati, pizza dosa etc
Peaceful and calm place to have food and spend time. They serve vegetarian food along with beverages. When you enter, it feels like you're entering into someone's house. They serve food on rooftop. Food quality: 8/10 | Ambience: 9/10 | Price: $$
A boutique in the ground floor with a very unique restaurant on the rooftop. The menu is pretty interesting with a lot of Indian-Mexican and Indian-continental fusion dishes. loved the Indian Enchiladas. You usually spend 800/- for two.
