It is one of those bakeries in Pondi that i like to visit whenever i am here. After 3 years, i am finally putting this on Zomato
This place serves some of the best pastries in town and it is quite famous too. The number of people visiting this place often will definitely let one understand why it is famous for. The taste is really nice and the quality they serve of the price is really amazing. The bakery is very appealing with a big seating area and the ambience is really pleasing. The locality is quite crowded and it difficult to find a place to park the vehicle. But this place is really worth it.
What an amazing experience here. The chocolate donut that I had here was so spongy and perfectly baked. Even their coffee is one of my favourites. Thus place deserves a visit.
I hesitated to go in first, but ended up loving this place. It is a small bakery but the menu vast compared to the site. They have a very courteous staff.
We ordered for a Quieche which is usually has a hard crust. But this was soft and to my astonishment, it was made in this way to keep it soft and trust me, it was really tasty.
Next came in a plate of Veg Pasta Arrabiata. It was really tasty and for the price they charged, it had good amount of extra ingredients (mushroom, bellpepper, jalepeno).
To end with, the main man came and asked me for my feedback which usually small bakery foes not do.
Overall, a very good experience.
For a taste of fresh baked goods, Puducherry is dotted with bakeries on most streets. If you love your croissants, baguettes, quiches, pastries, tarts, pies and rolls it is hard to resist checking out these. I picked up some stuff from Bon Bakes close to the museum and everything here was so fresh and reasonable.
Amazing Place..!! If you're looking for some nice place to have breakfast in Pondicherry, this is the place you need to go to. Great food, such good ambience, it's just beautiful. An amazing way to start your day, if you're in Pondicherry, do visit this place. You'll never regret it.

We had chicken roll and croissants and it was incredible, the administration is exceptional and the quality is very high.

This is one of those bakery cum resto types which you just can't miss. Their food is so pocket friendly and the variety of items they serve is too good.
The ambiance is staright forward and good. We tried a lot of things; outstanding were the Chocolate filled donuts, Chicken supreme, Barbequed chicken hot dog and the crossiant.

So Auroville bakery was in my bookmarks, and I wanted to go there as I had heard so many good things about it but that day they were closed , so I ended up finding BON BAKES on Google "near me" option. Boy oh boy Google you are saviour- this place has the best pastries omg !! We ordered the chicken tikka roll, chicken tikka bun , butterscotch eclair and pineapple pastry . Not at all disappointed ! Worth the money every bite of the way , and also the staff - thank you for being so courteous and generous. I don't mind travelling back to Pondy just to experience this again.

A nice, quiet cafeteria on the main road ie rangapillai street junction , it serves delicious bakery items. They had fresh breads, cross buns, pastries, quiches, biscuits, brownies. We ordered pastries, and chicken quiche and some croissants. The quiche was very fresh and delicious and so were the other items. The price is justified wrt the quality of the items. They also serve burgers Which we are yet to try.
Overall a great experience . Do not miss out their pastries , it has absolutely the same taste what I had during my childhood . What’s makes them special is their fresh food and a super courteous staff . A definite go if you are in Pondi !!

We had the best brownie and cakes from Bon Bakes compared to the other cafes we visited. Irish coffee and pineapple cake was damn good. Guys don’t hesitate to try out their pizzas😋. Another reason to love Pondi.
Great place with amazing croissant and sandwiches. Must try their cookies and hot chocolate too. We went and got loads of cookies packed as take away and they lasted fresh for a long time.

This is the perfect place if you want to satiate your sweet tooth. You have a variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, cookies etc to choose from. The snacks and drinks are good as well. Been there twice and definitely more visits are in store.

A good chit chat place.. French breakfast with indian style coffe.. Tasty one but cost is lil higher.. Seats were worn out and should be replaced.. 3.5for the taste.
Items on the menu are very regular but the taste is so yum! Choco filled doughnut is really awesome and must try if you are chocolate fan.

A good looking cafe with some attractive baked goods. There isn’t a lot of parking space outside the restaurant and the place is a good spot for long and relaxed dining. After glancing through the display, we ordered for Palak Paneer Roll, Cafe Latte, and Earl Green Tea. The beverages were good and the roll along with the right amount of filling and the crispy crust tasted nice. We didn’t stuff ourselves with anything else but there were a lot of varieties to choose from.
The quality was good; the baked delights looked fresh. Also, the service gets a thumbs-up. The bill came to Rs.169 INR. If you are looking to treat yourself with some baked than this can be one place to check out.

Had Indiana pasta with mojito . The pasta was yum and melted in my mouth. Definitely a must try for food lovers. The price is reasonable and the ambience is pleasant with the aroma of delicacies in the air.

This place is quiet peaceful located at the side of the road. Relaxing to juat sit and have a sip of your tea or coffee. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The cheese croissant was amazing. The pastry that we had was simple great. The crunchiness could be felt from the peanut and jaggery crackles while there was a little bitter flavour from the chocolate shavings.

Good place. Reasonably priced. Loved the chocolate crossiant and chicken quiche with black coffee. They have lot of other baked items which you can try here.
We tried the chicken grilled sandwich and found it really good in taste. There pastas are also worth trying. They do have variety but did not get a chance to try other stuff, would definitely next time I visit Pondi.
Walking on the streets on pondicherry, we spotted this place called 'Bon bakes'. Went in to have some quick dessert. We ordered a chocolate truffle pastry and a chocolate milkshake. The pastry was just sinful. The chocolate milkshake wasn't so great.
Talking of the ambience.. the place was glittering and reminded of Christmas.
First breakfast in Pondicherry, rainy day and a bit lazy to explore the town without caffeine in my body. I found this bakery with cafe' close to my guest house. From the window, it looked fine but not that great. I stepped in and look at the variety of pastry, croissants and savory snacks they offer. I opted for for a plain croissant and an Americano. Coffee was not good, but croissant very tasty, fresh and fluffy.
Staff was also nice. Coming from Delhi, I must say they are very economic! The place is not fancy but it can be a good option for a stop whenever u need energy :)
I am highly thankful for this place to fulfill the stomach of starve people in the morning, the place is so nice although the space is not much but u can sacrifice such things for good food, we had chicken burger, veg burger ,lamon tinnay cake(highly recommended) taxmax , highly satisfied with service, manager was really sweet and welcoming. i will visit here again (recommended)

Early morning when all the other places were closed this place was our saviour. Ambience was good, fresh baking smell was always there. I order Grilled Chicken Sausage Sandwich and Omelette. The sandwich was amazing and the Omelette was heavenly, probably the best Omelette till then. The waiting time was a problem.

We dropped by this bakery when it was almost about to close, but they were genuine sweethearts and did let us order. The place is a must try out if you're in pondy and looking for really good quality pastries at very affordable prices. The pasta we ordered (chicken arabiata) was amazing and the slices of garlic bread was amazing too. The butterscotch smoothie was, as my friend described, "happiness running down your throat" , so you get the picture.
The people were nice and the place was super well maintained. The couches were super super comfy and the whole ambience is a solid deal maker for multiple visits.
The reason I love this place so much is its excellent baking team. Though, I am really not a fan of their menu, I make a point to stop here and sample their baked goods. My favourite is their Rasin tart. Somehow they have perfected the art of making puff pastry.And it is one of the best I ever had.
Also , they have excellent cookies and garlic toasts to take home and gorge on.
Bon Bakes is one of my favourite places in Pondicherry for a non Indian breakfast. The usual order consists of grilled chicken sandwiches (barbeque and tikka are favourites), quiches, cheese and garlic bread, and a range of hot and cold coffees. We often have a brunch here. Service is usually prompt, and ambience is good. Both are better in the first half of mornings before the usual noisy tourist brunch crowd comes in on weekends.

I went to pondicherry with my friends and was searching some place for brunch. Then i found this place. Believe me, at first instance, i was sceptical about this place, but after having food, i was amazed by the taste of the food.

I love Pondichery and one of the reason I love is the availability of Italian Bakery and Bon Bakes is one of the famous. Both ambience and service is good, even though waiting period to be served for the order is little more.

A cozy place for catching up with friends. Nothing much to call for ambiance. Have been here many times but the recent visits weren't that satisfactory. They serve pretty good coffee and their pastries are just average. Their crossiants used to be good (of course can't match bakers street standards). In my last visit had a cappuccino and plain crossiant. Cappuccino was very strong, the way I like it. Crossiant was so so. It missed that flaky outer texture. Was very soft but the flavour was good. Paid 90 bucks in total. One thing I like about this place is the quick service and pocket friendly bills.

On a sunny and humid afternoon as we walked around deciding a place for our "brunch" in Pondi, we came upon Bon Bakes, though Zomato almost ensured that we lose our way.. This small cafe which like almost every other cafe in Pondicherry comes along with it's own bakery.. As a result of which most of the bakery products one gets here are pretty good.. Apart from their regular menu they also have a range of other baked delights which one can enjoy..
Ignoring the heat outside, we ordered the Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken soups.. The creamy texture in both the soups and the perfect balance of flavors led to a great start of our first meal in Pondi.. The chicken and mushrooms both were really well cooked and the soup genuinely had good amounts of cream in it, as opposed to the boiled stuff in milk served at many places under this title.. The sweltering heat outside prompted us to order lemon ice tea along with our meal which simply felt refreshing with each sip..
Our appetizers consisted of Chicken Fingers and Cheese Garlic Toast.. The Garlic Cheese toast was basically a variation of the Garlic Bread which we find in many local places and it was well made.. The chicken fingers on the other hand, though not spicy, were provided with a mayo based dip which really complemented it's flavor.. Our main course comprised of burgers and sandwiches and I got the opportunity to try a baguette for the first time.. So these guys basically offer a few choices in the bread which is used for sandwiches and we went for the panini and the baguette for two of our sandwiches.. The tomato and basil sandwich was good, however, the baguette felt out of place which was of course my choice, so can't blame it on anyone.. The basil sauce used in the sandwich was tasty, so as a flavor it worked well.. The Italian sandwich which was in a Panini was delicious, though it felt more like a regular veg grilled sandwich with no visible Italian component.. We also ordered the double chicken burger which had really delicious patties and the burger as whole was pretty filling.. To finish off our meal, we ordered the chocolate truffle with ice cream and
a raisin tart.. The tart was amazing and the pastry felt really fresh and soft.. The raisin filling was absolutely delicious.. The chocolate truffle with ice -cream was also pretty good, mostly cause of the ice -cream which was totally welcome in the current weather..
The decor of the place is pretty simple, though their usage of space is pretty smart.. The cafe is soothing on the eyes once you get out of the sweltering heat.. The staff is really polite and always work at making you comfortable.. Their service is also pretty quick, so one doesn't have to wait for ages to start their meals, though I can't comment on how they handle large crowds..
All in all eating at Bon Bakes was a fun way of spending our afternoon away from the sun.. And it is definitely recommended for their tarts.. It's a cool place to hang out and just enjoy a cup of coffee or ice tea in our case..

Located in the bustling MG Road, this was the place we visited on our first day in Pondicherry.
The place is quite cozy with attentive staff. AC on full swing was certainly a relief from scorching heat outside. As we entered, the fresh smell of baked items was literally captivating. Freshly prepared breads and cookies were lined up near the counter.
Seating arrangements consisted of plush sofa as well as cushioned chairs. We settled for the sofa and ordered for grilled chicken sandwich, chicken burger and cafe latte. All these were served in next 10 minutes.
Grilled chicken sandwich was very nicely prepared. Added with mayonnaise and served with potato chips, it was a nice deal.
Chicken burger on the other hand was pretty average to me. Patty was nice but somewhat greasy. French fries along with it though were nicely prepared.
Cafe latte were prepared nicely and did great finishing touch to out first visit. Definitely recommended to try out the in-house bakery items.
They have some awesome cakes. Good ambience as well. Good to visit for a quick bite. Tried blueberry and strawberry cakes which were awesome.
A good place to grab a light meal ... pretty close to the Promenade beach. Great ambience , though the air conditioned environment will make you dread the fact that you have to eventually return to the scorching Pondi sun

Courteous staff... Quick service... Good food... nothing majorly special but nothing to complain about either... tried the "Cream of veg" soup, a couple of sandwiches, a pizza and they were all good... Having said that, I frankly couldn't make out the difference between their Mexican veg and Italian veg sandwiches... :-). But they were tasty nevertheless... Decent place for an evening snack.
This restaurant, though located in a former French colony, having a french name too, clearly doesn't match french standards when it comes to food, ambience or service. Ironically, their Italian food is way better!. The few things that I found good about this place were..
1) The smell of freshly baked bread..
2) Pizzas LOADED with cheese and toppings
3) Watching the chef in action.
As I mentioned above, the pizzas are too good and a must try (though a little pricey, its kinda worth it) if you ever find yourself at this joint. The pasta, though not as tasty as the pizza, was above average and filling nonetheless. Service was(is) very poor and painstakingly slow.
Ok food .. but great coffee ! If you are an espresso lover, they get their beans from Chikmanglur and use it with Astoria coffee maker..it felt divine !
Being a regular here for the past 4 years...their cakes for any occasion to order are one of the best and delicious cakes in town...staff are very friendly...their pastries are good so as their sandwiches and non veg baked goodies priced between 70 to 130 with sandwiches and burgers slightly on a higher side...frappe's werent great and dint look appetizing at all for the same price u can get a good one at places like ccd...U come by car on a weekend be ready to walk a bit to this place..since there is no place for parking..restrooms are well kept.

We had dropped in for coffee. The place was good with friendly staffs. A smell of freshly baked products will welcome you, had coffee, tarts and cookies..food was good. The sitting arrangement was nice and comfortable. Reasonably priced.
A Friend of us suggested this place. We ended up going during their closing time but where still welcome with a smile. Great service.
Ordered a white pasta, which was out of the world. It was creamy and exactly the way we would need to please our taste buds. Don't miss to try their pastries. We had the German forest and loved it.

The aroma of freshly baked bread that welcomes you adds a lovely first impression. We ordered a quiche, too many onions in it but it can be eaten with relish if you are as famished as we were. While the staff may be unmindful, missing out on the basic things such as serving you water, the food lets you overlook that. Pasta Arabiatta was delicious and their grilled chicken sandwich was lovely to say the least. Sumptuous filling, mouth watering taste, and they serve it in a pretty basket :D This is perhaps more of a dessert place, we chose it for breakfast and it was a good choice. Madeeha Begum

Our first haunt at pondy. We wanted to keep this light since we had just concluded a long road trip, and were super tired from almost no sleep the previous night. So we started with two soups (cream of vegetable and cream of corn) , a croissant and a basil tomato sandwich. All of these were fresh, delicious and immensely satisfying. The cafe has a very inviting vibe to it. Their fresh bakes and cookies looked extremely tempting. And before we knew it, "no one can eat just one" happened to us. We ordered a slice of their plum cake and a black forest pastry. The plum @cake had a unique spicy texture to it. The black forest was a perfect combination of adequately moist without being excessively creamy. At the end of the meal, I was happy, full and yet very sleepy. And walking around the town was on our agenda. So I called for a cappuccino. I don't know what origin or bean it was, but quite possibly this one is the best cappuccino I've ever had. Heady and strong, just the thing that I needed to get me going. I'd give the food here a 3.5 and just this coffee a 4.5. Overall, Bon Bakes was a great start to the gastronomic adventure that we've embarked on here at pondy.

This place is really good, nice place to relax after visiting some places there. It is situated in the center of the french colony. Its serves nice bakery and continental food. Double decker crossiant is a must try. We had been here for lunch. It costed around 500 for two.
My favorite bakery in pondicherry. I visit this bakery everyday I'm here on a vacation and I love the chocolate croissants, chocolate double decker and cold chocolate coffee.
Excellent for a quick bite . Double decker (Danish chocolate pastry ) was great . Mushroom puff and tomato cheese basil sandwich for savoury were good in taste. Satisfying snack !
Simple, nice little cafe to chill at when you want a break from the heat and humidity with decent seating including a few comfortable couches and good service. Tried a few items from the bakery all of which were pretty delicious and also light on the pocket. The pizza bun was fresh and light, and the palak paneer quiche was delightfully loaded with more cheese than I'd have expected. The hazelnut frappe was chilled and packed with flavor though on the expensive side compared to the food, but the place is way less expensive than zomato suggests.
After a walk on the rocky beach if you want to have some good breakfast, it's got to be Bon Bakes! Twice I have been to Pondi and twice I have been here for breakfast! It's on a little expensive side but the food specially eggs and chicken is amazing. The chicken sandwiches are great and the cold coffee makes your morning perfect! Vegetarians need to be a little choosy about thief choices, so ask the helpers about Ur food details cause everything isn't "great" but decent. The crowd and ambiance is great and happy! And the service I would give a 5 on 5.

Bon bakes is situated right on the M.G.Road in pondicherry...its a nice place to hangout and chill with your friends. They have a huge varieties of cakes, pastries, bread, pastas and all sorts of bakery products. I had eaten croissants which was really gud and the pastries and cakes were also nice.

Hotel Soorya International is our regular stay at Pondicherry and Bon bakes falls right between the hotel and the beach. Walkable. So we decided to have our breakfast here.
Ambiance(3.5/5): It's a very small place. Has around 4-5 tables and 3 couches. Couches are comfortable, relaxing but mostly full. Pondicherry themed walls.
Food(2.5/5): Apart from the menu on Zomato, they also have some combos. We had ordered a Chicken salami pizza and a Veg Ariabatta pasta combo. Combos include a beverage, pizza/pasta, 2 portions of garlic bread and a small chocolate brownie. Pasta was undercooked, tasted as if it was made in Sambar. The lemon tea was horrible. Garlic bread, pizza and the cake tasted nice though.
Apart from the combos, we had also ordered veg nuggets, tasted very average. And a few more from the display (don't remember the names :( ), they tasted okayish.
Service(4/5): The service was okay. Quite slow. But one of their staff helped us a lot with direction and transport to Paradise beach. Special mention to that.
VFM(4/5): Isn't too pricey.

This place caught our eye as we were passing by and on our way back to the hotel. Feeling hungry, one of us went in to get some food for us.
And it was packed. The place seems to be really popular with locals and tourists alike.
The almond tarts were fantastic. The paneer tikka roll was ordinary, but the chocolate and butter croissant was very good.
They have a wide variety of coffees in hazelnut, caramel and chocolate flavors. Their collection of cookies is also very good and very tasty.

This bakery has excellent bread, pastry, snacks, sandwiches, tea, and coffee. The service is quick and efficient and the seating is conducive to views and conversation. The cookies are superb for take away. One can choose to sit on the sofa or chairs, both are good.
They have chocochip cookies, japanish cookies, plain and chocolate cakes paked. Plain maringue and almond rocher.
They have variety of croissant, quiche , donut, pasteries, tarte and eclaire. They will get fresh order for party cake and provide you in minimum of half hour. Cost seems less when compare to it's competitors.

Bon Bakes is long gone, the place has been bought over by Daily Breads. Nevertheless the differences between the two places are indistinguishable! Great service and great breakfast spot. Their coffee wasn't the best but their pastries and baked goodies are pretty good!
Nice patisserie in the MG Road area with the freshest breads, melt in your mouth choco croissants, tasty sandwiches but their coffee is n't anything to write home about. Ordered a cold Irish frappe and got a hot Irish coffee but it was an honest mistake that was rectified soon. Can't fault them for it.
Good place for pastries and coffee...nd even the pastas over there are very tasty.....give a try when you come to Pondicherry.
This place is must visit if you crave for some breads. I liked the service but they can improve by the maintenance. It was inexpensive. Must try highly recommended

This place serves the best desserts I ever had. I loved their tarts and pizzas. The pasta they serve here is also amazing. Hats off to the variety of breads that they serve here. Awesome place for pastries and breads. Loved the sandwiches and pancakes. Ambience is great. Service is also good. They also have various kinds of breads and soup sticks in case you want to purchase separately.
Good for a bite. Very cheap for the coffee they serve. Reasonably good food at very reasonable price. With a stop over. And just to help you find the place, the board says Daily Bread.
