The burgers served here are OUT OF THIS WORLD! I Mean it! You don’t get beef burgers in Maharashtra and boy did I get me some meat down here, red meat i.e. Loved em so much that I packed a couple for the way back to Pune.
The burgers were filling, tasty and unlike the simple burgers you get otherwise. You could see that each burger had its own taste and they can customize for you as well. The menu is full of varieties and for a moment you'd want to try it all.
Really, REALLY LOVED the ambience of the place. Truely gave a relaxed cafe feeling where one could spend hours.
The only thing i wasn't fascinated by was the nachos they give along with the burgers, which were not good and seemed right out of a packet.
But then, that doesn't affect the burgers and the experience.
And, the staff, though only 2 people are nice and welcoming.

Visited last week with friends. The place is dim lit, quaint, simple yet feel good. Very courteous people who run the place. The burgers were simply amazing. Must try in Pondicherry.
This small place in Heritage Town was cosy and comfortable, and had the best food. With a limited menu, they make amazing burgers with different meat options and toppings. We had the cajun beef burger and a simple hotdog. One burger is quite large and sufficient to serve two, and is very affordable. The patty is juicy, the toppings all fresh and these melt into a great overall burger. This place deserves the hype and is definitely a must try.

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of burgers that they have here and they are distinctly different from one another unlike other places. The portions are satisfying and the service is great. Very warm people and the staff is excellent they always wear a smile. I noticed that the women consist 75 to 80 % of the workforce here, which is really lovely " women empowerment ! ". The selective jazz music playing in the background shows the detail they have worked on. Canteen 18 is an experience that you want to relive again and again. You guys doing a great job, keep it up.

It’s a very small place and doesn’t serve alcohol, to the best of our knowledge, but it’s a MUST try in Pondy. The food, the decor, the music and the general vibe is killer and the owners seem to have worked hard for it. You’ll enjoy the food and the music, 100%. Also they haven’t tried to do a 100 things. Their menu is small and it works best that way.
Do not miss this place if you are in pondi. They have the best vegetarian burgers around.

It's a place that everyone is looking out but highly under rated may be because it's not in white town but a 10 mins walk from promenade. I must say, it was the place I was looking for. Walked into this beautiful, quaint place for lunch. First, it is beautifully done! And the jazz music was just fantastic.
Ordered a Cajun chicken burger, a classic chicken burger, and a regular cold coffee. The burgers were delicious with the right sauces and flavours! The patties were juicy and the bread was super fresh. The coffee was good too.
The owner, Shantanu is really hospitable and we had a great conversation with him! He even shared his awesome music playlist with us!

Being in Pondy for a leisure trip, I wanted to visit some serene and reposeful cafe and atlast found one! A small sized yet cozy cafe. Got amazed by the decor. Simple but catchy.
Ordered a Cowboy Chicken Hotdog and Chocolate Cold Coffee. The hotdog was snappy and succulent. Perfect flavours. Nothing to complain about the cold coffee though.
Will surely hit this place once again if I visit pondy, to try their burgers. Very much satisfied for a first visit.

To start off with, the cafè is inside a small contemporary building run by 2 amazingly friendly people. The ambience is welcoming. I'd personally give it 5 stars for the hospitality.
Since we had a late breakfast, we weren't hungry and just ordered a Cowboy Chicken Hotdog and Cold Chocolate Coffee.
Hotdog - The BEST hotdog I've ever had and I'm pretty sure this would remain the best. Sausage was juicy and had a mild snap to it. The sauces were at the right proportion. The flavour from caramelized onions were phenomenal. It was like 'flavour explosion' right till the last bite. I was so full and still was on a dilemma whether I should be ordering another one.
Cold Coffee - It was good, not too thick - just like how a cold coffee should be. The chocolate flavour was predominant, though. I loved it, nevertheless.
Totally worth the money!
Expect yourself to spend a few hours, enjoying a delicious meal, feeling the uniquess of the ambience, grabbing a book to read and clicking pictures.

The patty is juicy and well spiced and flavorful.

Cute little place gives off vintage vibes with jazz posters. They’ve a very limited menu but the burgers are the bomb. If you’re craving for a burger this is the best place to go. The Cajun burger is my favorite but the others are interesting as well. I love the fact that they’re now selling French fries coz that’s the only thing that was missing. But I wish it came along with burger now.

It's a really charming burger and jazz café inspired by New Orleans... The interiors are rustic with knick knacks the couple who own this cafe have collected from all their travels, the music is jazz... Well a match made in heaven I say.

The burger was juicy, tender, sweet, savoury, spiced with buns toasted to perfection! Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a burger this much! It comes with a side of spiced nachos.

Hands down one of the best burger places in town. We had the Texas burger and the Miami burger. The patty was juicy and succulent. Served alongside corn chips it was perfect.
The Miami burger had a sauce which was a bit too sweet for my liking.

I have heard a lot about the place for their burgers and wanted to try it out. The place wasn't difficult to find and seemed like a house turned into cafe , located in first and second floor. The walls and decors are so unique and retro. The food is served in trays.
The latte was good and aromatic. The cold coffee was really good.
The burgers we took were Miami chicken burger and Classic veg burger. The Miami burger was so damn good and juicy and filling. They had options of single patty or double patty. The classic veg burger has barbecue smokey flavour which I didn't prefer. They give mad angles with burgers.
I love the retro ambience at canteen 18. The jazz music really sets the mood . I tried the miami burger today which is the latest addition to their menu and I specially liked the subtle flavours and the fact that it comes with a flattened bun and a extra big patty 😊

The burgers here are bomb!! We tried the Canteen 18 classic with bacon and the nothing burger. Both were delicious. I really loved the nothing burger - the patty was nice and juicy, buns were toasted, a good amount of sauce and fresh veggies and served with chips.

Canteen 18 is a sweet spot in Heritage Town, built inside a house, run by a lady owner who's very sweet. It's got lovely interiors and I'm sure this will be a cherry to your trip to Pondicherry.
Veg Canteen Classic Burger: It's one of the tasiest burgers I've ever had. It had fresh lettuce leaves, potato patty, fresh tomatos, onion and a fine collection of barbeque sauce and mint mayonnaise. Highly recommend!
Egg Canteen Classic Sandwich: This sandwich caught my attention instantly, for the beautiful appearance of it. It had a good amount of egg content to fill your stomach.
Hazelnut Cold Coffee: Good if you're a fan of hazelnut.
Peach and Apricot Lemonade: A big refresher with natural taste like soda. You might want to top it up with ice.
The only sad part was, they didn't have tomato ketchup. But that's fine for the taste of food.

This burger was hands down one of the best burgers I've had in Pondicherry, taking into careful consideration that Pondicherry doesn't have many Burger joints dishing out Excellent Burgers.
The bun was Soft and Toasted and held together it's contents well. The layers of toppings and beef were put together in such a way that the burger didn't fall apart in your hands. The quantity for the price was full filling. The sauces weren't over done and complimented the meat exceptionally. What was a real let down though was the chips that came with the burger. Wasn't a big fan of Mad Angles and would've preferred the option of Fries which unfortunately weren't on the menu. But with crisp bacon and Sausage, I was nothing but content.

This place has the most calming ambience I have ever come across, with soft jazz music playing in the background and the rustic charm of the place itself, the place slowly massages one to calmness and gears one up to have the delicious food available here.
The Texas Beef and Bacon Burger here was one of the tastiest burger I have had, couple that with the delicious cold coffee and you have a perfect meal. Friendly staff only add to the charm.
Love the vibe, the Texas chicken and the Texas beef and bacon burger were succulent and the sauces were on point, jazz in the background was a big yes.
The dish was served with bingo madangles rather than nachos, but that's fine it tasted great.
Now coming to the drinks , shakes were thick and were not too sweet which is perfect.

When I first spotted this cafe, it seemed small and not too attractive. But after having the food there, I was speechless.
The Bacon and Beef Texas Burger was the best burger I ever had. The beef patty was tender and juicy. The bacon was extra crispy and added the perfect amount of greasiness to the burger. The cheese and various sauces just melted in my mouth.
The hot dogs were just as delicious. The prices might be a little high but the place is worth a try.
In all, this is a beautiful French cafe that I would love to visit again and would recommend to all.

Found a gem in the by lanes of Heritage Town. Canteen 18 is a warm, cosy café raw interiors, cute small tables, people paintings, a balcony and flowers. It is the exact kinda place I would love to own someday. So warm and beautiful.
The menu is limited and even more so for veg food but everything we tried was super delicious. Must Try:
➡️ Nothing burger - 2 sausages, 2 patties, 3 layers of cheddar, egg, jalapeño, tomato, lettuce. All of this in one burger phew!! We ordered a beef one and it was like a burst of flavourful meat in the mouth. Totally recommend!
➡️ Texas sandwich - baked beans, cheddar, jalapeño, lettuce, etc. Made for a brilliant veg sandwich. Only thing missing for eggs to pull everything together. None the less, it was a fab sandwich. Next I intend to try the cottage burger.
➡️ Affogato - served in a teensy size cup, the Affogato is such a surprise. Loved the balance of the flavours. 💜

I visited this cafe first when they were outdoors and I recently had the chance to visit them again. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have moved to a much bigger indoor space. A New Orleans style American fast food cafe restaurant now open even for lunch!!! with even better ambiance service and food (I didn't think was possible as they were already soo amazing) they have also introduced some new burgers and desserts to the menu that are simply scrumptious... 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. I Will definitely visit again.

Just a corner shop in White town, this place sells the best burgers in town. Fairly priced, the burgers are just amazing and worth a try. Although the shop isn't open most of the times, they open it randomly. Amazing for a cool morning or an evening but definitely not for a summer afternoon as it's in the open and it is simply too hot.

Loved Everything about it ! The quaint lil cafe is one of the best places to have a meal while wandering aimlessly around the streets of Pondy. We ordered a cold coffee, vanilla cupcake, cheese croissant sandwich and an egg-cheese burger ! And they were all delicious .. However the best had to be the croissant sandwich.. undoubtedly the best I ever had . Also the egg and cheese burger was one of the best burgers I've eaten so far and that includes places like Jimi's and Howra in Bombay . The hosts are extremely friendly and I love the fact that you can see them making the food right in front of you . It's a great place and should definitely be on the to-visit list of anyone visiting Pondicherry !

A small kiosk, no fancy ambiance, and amazing food are what I love about Canteen 18. The menu is simple and picking your choices wouldn’t take a lot of time. There was only one person who took the order as well as prepared the food so the waiting time may test your patience. But the minute you get the food, you wouldn’t bother about having cons.
And with respect to the food, we ordered for Egg Cheese Sandwich, Paneer Burger, Iced Tea and Flourless Chocolate Cake.
The fried egg, cheese, mustard aioli and BBQ sauce sandwiched between the bread is a mouthful of happiness. The combination works so well and the highlight of their burger or sandwich is the sauce they use. Especially the BBQ tastes too good that I didn’t want to waste even a tiny drop.
The burger as well tasted great. The crispy paneer patty with veggies and cheese along with the delicious BBQ sauce and mustard aioli does the magic in your mouth. The super soft bun lets them score bonus points. The iced tea was nice. Also, you get a pack of Lays chips with the burger and sandwich. The only sweet option available was Flourless Chocolate Cake, and the cake was good. It would have been better with a scoop of ice-cream but I didn’t opt for the ice-cream.
The quality and taste are two major things that impressed me. Also, the price was reasonable. The bill was Rs.450 INR. They accept only cash so do carry cash. A goto place for amazing sandwiches and burger at an affordable price.

We walked to the eatery, located in the lane behind the busy MG Road. A sharp contrast from the chaotic main road, this street and Canteen 18, both, are a solace. First look, and you are bound to smile. A small cooking area, with 3 tables and a capacity to seat not more than 10 people, this place is charming in all certainty.
The place is run by two people and sees an influx of locals and foreigners alike. The menu is not very large in general and really small, like 5 items small, for vegetarians. And yet we recommend you go here, even if you have pick the same combination in a burger and a croissant (this is for vegetarians, others have options), we still strongly recommend you do not miss out on this one! Have a bite of their burgers or croissant sandwich and you will know why!
Went here for a quick bite. The eatery is in a peaceful corner just behind the chaotic lane of xtasy. They start cooking from scratch so what you get is fresh fresh food with amazing taste which makes you want more. I am a veg so had to satisfy my taste buds with a paneer burger. When we first saw we dint find it impressive because it is a very small cafe but we thought to give it a try
And we had the best veg burger and sandwiches out here at this cafe
Loved the food as it was prepared fresh by the owner himself
The owner is such a polite person to interact with
He serves himself which makes it all the more amazing to go and check out this place
Please do go early because there can be a chance that the raw materials to prepare stuff may get over and you would miss out on a cute experience of this place

It's quaint little place, with amazing bomb burgers. The quality of burger produces what the limited menu promises. The patty and the stuffing in-between the burger with friend onion and garlic is a great touch to the flavour. It's a must try if you are a burger lover. The menu is simple and promising. The cafe is in the first floor and it's pet friendly. The service is good and the people are extremely friendly. The prices are affordable
The best burger I ever had. So much so that we reordered online when leaving Pondi.
Patty (juicy, meaty) and buns (not flaky, not messy), both are exceptional. Both the veg and non-veg options are amazing.
I prefered the chicken and veg over pork though.

Quaint little place serving killer burgers. The burger bun is tasty and the meat and sauces are excellent. Bit on the costlier side but worth it.

I can promise that there burgers will blow your mind off, doesn’t matter you are a vegetarian or non vegetarian. The ambience is cherry on the cake and it’s a pet friendly cafe!

Great casual eatery for burgers. The burgers aren't the normal kind you get in the West but don't let that stop you from trying these juicy ones. The service was also great!
A must visit place in case you are craving for some good burgers. A small eaterie being run by a few people, the burger quality really loves up the hype, especially taking in the price as well. The eatery is on the second floor and there is ample space for parking on the road around this. Definitely a hidden gem amongst the streets of pondi.
