Once I went to Puducherry and were staying in Sumith Palace hotel, White Town. The De Bussy restaurant is on the opposite side of the road. I went twice there for dinner. So will give both the accounts. On Day 1, I ordered Chicken Biriyani which was served with brinjal salan and Onion Raita. I liked this new combination which is not observed in the Biriyanis of Eastern and Northern part of India. It contained good amount of chicken pieces too with kaleidoscopic flavours of herbs mesmerizing my taste buds. The quantity and quality of rice were also very good. On Day 2, I ordered Mixed Fried Hakka Noodles and Chicken Pepper Curry. The noodles had a generous amount of chicken-egg-prawns and the spicy pepper curry was the perfect date for it. Enjoyed the food on both days. The ever-smiling staff was very helpful. Price is pocket-friendly. I feel the ambience needs some facelift.

The roasted chicken salad and grilled fish are out of this world. Amazing place with a mid range budget and food that's worth the price. It's a regular for me and my friends.
Good taste. Starters are really good. Nice hotel with good aesthetic view. Main dishes could be improved. Overall a should visit in puducherry hotels.

One of the best affordable restaurants in Pondicherry. I have been here couple of times and every time I have enjoyed the food. The only complaint is that the waiters will be hovering too much on your table ready to clean the table as soon as possible. For some it may sound good but at times it seems a bit of intrusion when you are eating. In all a good food experience..
Easy to find but not on the beach side. Had beef steak straight away. Service was really nice. Language barrier is still there. Beef was tender and properly seasoned. You can have it. But it lacks poached eggs and mashed potatoes compared to usual beef steaks.
De Bussy is a perfect place for an amazing Lunch that is very easy on your wallet. It doesn't matter who you're with they've got seating for everyone. Alcohol is available too.
Came here for Lunch. We were really hungry and ate to our heart's content here!
We ordered a full Tandoori Chicken platter which was simply sumptuous. Very well presented and great quantity too!
For Main Course we ordered an American Chopsuey, loads of Butter Naans, Mughlai Chicken and Butter Chicken.
Everything tasted really great and the quantity was really good too.
Couldn't ask for more.

I did not expect such good food here. The beef steak was wow! Nice soft meat and well marinated.
The seafood Florentine was so tasty, cheesy and a good balance of flavors. Fish in it was fresh!
The chicken leg pieces were so juicy and nice!
Nothing much to say, came here basically to have a few drinks and we were amazed with the food.. Do come with family but make sure you have you food on the first floor.
Service was a little slow due to a Friday night and it was at its maximum seating.
Parking is a little issue as it's the main road.
This restaurant situated on the first floor with two sections has loads of options both Indian, Chinese and of course a lot of Continental. ..my favourite is the chicken biryani which is very unique being served with raita and a brinjal side dish which is a dry preparation and goes pretty well with the biryani. ..with apt amount of South Indian flavour and tanginess. ..do give it a try if you are looking for something new.
The Food here is too good that I can't rate it lesser if not for the poor service and not so good ambience.
Saturdays is only for stags I suppose.
I wrote this review just to mention the barbecue chicken.
The barbecue chicken is the best in town from my experience.
Also tried chicken tikka and Russian salad which were unique.
The food is good overall and why I wondered why it never occurred to me to be here before.
Prices are pocket friendly and so is the booze.
It's having a great architecture and they are having diff floors for drink family and funz.i loved the food and the staffs were really nice and they serve food very fast.Its just 200 mtrs from rock beach so you can grab ur lunch while taking a sun Tan afternoon walk at the beach.
It's a nice place to dine.i went for lunch. It's a great place with ample ventilation. We ordered mutton biriyani ,which I loved alot. Mutton sukka, chicken malai tikka, prawn Manchurian,calamari fry. We felt that calamari was too spicy and rest all was good. Overall a great experience.

They have a good rooftop to booze with friends...but don't try anything Western and chetinad here. They have Good local food like idly and fish curry. They have good starters too .The mushroom crumb fry was out of this world. A must try starter.
Barbecue chicken is just awesome.The gravy chicken tikka masala though tasty is topped with lots of oil.The taste of chicken briyani has an authenticity to it .
Has always been a place I visit on a regular basis .....the salad is too good and the starters are cherry on the cake..main course offers a lot of variety ....over all thumps up
One best place for booze and good food in Pondicherry......I usually opt for roof top during evening. Food menu options is bit limited but taste seems good..... service is ok....

We came in here for lunch and ordered - Chicken 65, beef pepper fry, chicken biryani and a virgin mojito.
The food was decently good. But I would recommend some renovation to be done regarding the ambience as it’s doesn’t compliment the good food served. Apart from that all else went well. Will come back for the food! 👍
Foodies and Boozers meet here for fun time. It has a family dine in, bar and a outdoor sitting. You will love to be there again and again bcoz of the yumminess. Their signature dishes are Mexican chicken with white sauce, Dosa with fish curry/Boti, Briyani. My personal favourite is kanava fry (Squid) which will be mouth watering. Beef steak with pepper sauce will also be good. Complement will be provided with Liquor.

we with friends came on a weekend and we tried this restaurant as suggested by our friend. It was worth to pay and beef is recommended here. BEEF steak is yummy and chilly beef rules the day. Thanks to my friend for suggesting this place 😁

this place got so many recommendations that the first meal we had when we were in pondicherry was at de bussy. the place is overcrowded. the staff just serve your food and want you to leave asap so new customers can take your seat. although they should give a bit of more importance to cleanliness.
the food is lovely, especially non veg. chicken delights were much delicious than the fish delicacies.

Tasty food and reasonable price.
Ambience is decent but people /patrons are making the place very noisy which spoils the mood. Staff are kind and hospitality is very good. Every recipe we had was too good.
I had been to this place recently. For those who have not gone there yet and planning to, I wud like to enlighten to you on a few points which I experienced
1. Its a bar primarily. Clean and tidy. Not much to say with the ambience. Was ok
2. Drinks are cheap as compared to many others
3. Staffs were polite and prompt
4. The dishes which I had were tasty. I had a mutton biriyani too. As many have reviewed here, I am sorry to say, that I didnt find anything bad about the biriyani. It didnt have anything to say, it was super tasty. Neither did it have anything to describe it as unworthy. It tasted good.
5. The place was quiet while I was there. I would say, even family can go there without hesitation. The bar is big enough to offer you a family seating at one corner.

this s a new building opend recently.. previously it was just opp..a old building.. looks like a bar(never been there)....so coming to this new building.. we went last week(1st time).. with 2 f my friends.. security said its 2nd floor( for families like a decent restaurant) n 3rd floor( for alcohol). 4th floor s roof top( only in eveng).. lift facility available.. we went to 3rd floor.. huge crowd inside the hall..full of guyz watchng crickt in tv.. having alcohol n fun.. since we had a girl with us we cant join 3rd floor.. orlese we would hav gone to 3rd floor.. then we went to 2nd floor itself. alcohol s also served here actually.. tv s also there. familes wer having food.. we had 2 beers( servd in yellow colour mug) since its a family area.. doesnt look raw.. u can hav a leisure time. and i orderd cocktail blue lagoon.. its good. then we orderd chilly pork(crispy), beef streak( potato sauce n little french fries, given along), calamary fry(kanava fish), chickn tikka. atlast, caramel pudding, mango with nungu( dono the dish name) added photos guys.. hav a look.. and overall we ordered.. all dishes are good in taste.. well cooked.. dono about biryani n fried rice n all.. never tried that here.. wil not try those things also(decided aftr seeing others reviews).. but as for now, people can surely try wat we had.. cost s not too high.. less than 200 for each dish.. dessert less than 100 i think.. its good to try some weekend late aftrnoon.. like we did.. thanku debussy.. wil surely come again

De bussy is a place for groups and business travellers. This my 3rd visit. Nice food along with few pints are worth the money. Tried Sea food ... Prawns and fish was ok. squids(kanava fry) was awesome... Worth the money...
Had been to this place after a long day of work me and my colleagues checked in the place is extremely good and since pondi is UT the drinks also cheap love this place hoping to visit again

It's a tiny place on Bussy Street and looks quite shady. Since there were girls in our group the staff gave us a nice secluded corner with AC and a fan.
Pondi is a UT and the rates for drinks are amazing. We ordered a lot of cocktails and it was worth it. The food was delicious. We ordered a host of veg (paneer and babycorn) and non-veg dishes (chicken fried rice and chicken 65) and left with a happy tummy.
Food and drinks were priced reasonably and therefore it wasn't very heavy on the pocket too.
Service is slow here but if you are chilling and aren't in a hurry then you won't have a problem.

The only place you can get Idly, fish kulambu. The taste of the idly and fish kulambu is awesome... We often go for it. Other than its a normal bar in Pondicherry, with decent ambience.
One of the best places where u could have beer and good food for a much cheaper price compared to other restobar's in town...must try out their chilli pork? and roasted chicken which u get with fries..butter chicken with ghee rice is also worth mentioning...the service is good..and located on one of the prime streets in white town...crowded during weekends...and the downside is it isn't a place I would hang out with a girl !!!

This was suggested by a local friend from pondicherry. This place was the best. Every dish served here was really good and satisfying. Price were pretty decent too. Beef steak was suggested by my friend n it wan not that great the day we tasted but my friend mentioned that it was really good the day he went. Probably will try it again. Parking is a main issue here. Had to literally walk almost a km find a parking space..

The area which we took is very small may be extended one. So ambience was not good. Food variety was nice and taste is good. Issue with a dish was discussed with manager and changed immediately. Lots of rush and may need more proper maintenance of staff.

Situated in the heart of the town, they provide a wide range of food from south indian to continental. It's a family restaurant and have a seperate roof top for bar. Someone suggested the rice rasam here, and indeed it was awesome. They have continental, south and north indian too. Worth the price.
Very nice place to chill out. Good variety of alcohol drinks available. As it is situated on a busy road, finding parking is difficult. They don't have reserved parking. Worth to try.

You can hangout with friends for a good drink in the bar also there is a resto at the 1st floor if u happen to go with ur family.
This place is located around 2 kms from Rock beach.
Definitely a very good one.
