The podi idli tastes nice n soft n flavourful .. Even the Prawn Idiyappam Biryani that came along with onion tomato raita was tasty and very unique ..
Tried the idiyappam and chicken curry combo. The idiyappam was a bit small but the value for money was great. The overall quantity also was good. The curry was chettinad style and was good, but there wasn't enough chicken in it. The experience was good overall but there are some things which can be improved.
I went to have what this place represents. Idlis & Idiyappam. First impression that you get is - the place super neat and clean. Romantic Tamil songs were playing the first I visited this place. About the food - super delicious as expected. The first time, I had ordered Nethili Porichathu aka Anchovy 65, Idiyappam with fish (Meen curry) and Idlis with 2 Vegai Chutneys. I fell in love with their chutneys. The first time they served Coconut chutney and Sagu with the Idlis and the second time - Coconut & Tomato chutney. The food gives you such a clean feel that you kinda begin to trust it. So much so that I had this food before boarding for 7 hours long bus journey back to Bengaluru. I loved Idiyappam too, but the Meen curry was too peppery for my taste. What to say about Nethilli Porichathu? Its crunchiness was like having out of body experience while breathing. :)
Availability of some items can be an issue, but I got what I wanted to taste. Handwash is clean, equipped with tissues. I don't think there's washroom here, at least there wasn't one on the ground floor.
Next time I visit Pondicherry, will definitely visit this place again to taste some of the other dishes. I am extremely happy with the food experience I had here. Kudos guys!👍
We had their famous Veg Idiyappam Biryani. Great taste and unique dish. Also they serve the food in clayware which is so nice.
Small place but worth a visit. Food is served in clay plates. We had the chicken curry which was very tasty. idiyappam was also awesome. The pepper idli is very good too.
Had the Mutton Biryani and the Thali. Both very delicious. I will definitely go back whenever I visit Pondi again.
We saw the name and instantly wanted to visit. We had podi idli n veg idiyappam biryani. The quantity was good n taste was great. Must visit once if you are in Pondicherry.
I absolutely loved this place. A must try is the idli chutney, idiyappam chicken gravy and prawn biryani. Absolutely delicious.
Wholesome food, clean cooking and nice people! Tried the thali and idli, their food has the right amount of spices. Served ok clay plates covered in banana leaf. The cauliflower 65 is a must try!
We were tired of having pizzas and pastas in every meal during our stay at Pondy. So, we decided to check out this lesser known option just to try a different cuisine. South Indian food is always a safe option for a meal and considering their name, we thought their food will be simple, ordinary as well. But, we were proved wrong. This place is a little hidden gem.
The first impression you have as you enter this small shop is a bit critical. We were the first ones to enter the restaurant by 8 pm. The owner and manager greeted us warmly and gave us a nice seat. Even though the place is not that spacious, you do not feel suffocated or uncomfortable.
Their menu was simple but elaborate. Apart from the regular stuff, they also had biryanis and thalis. We ordered the Podi idli and Mutton Biryani as safe options. To try something adventurous, we ordered the Tandoori Idli.
Soon enough, people started pouring in and almost all the tables were full. We started off with the Podi Idli, which were quite flavourful. Tandoori Idli came not as we expected it to be (smoked or charred). But, it was laden with a generous amount of tandoori gravy. It tasted good beyond my expectations. It was quite spicy and yummy. The Biryani was really good as well.
Even though the portions looked small, they were filling. A generous amount of chutneys, sambhar and raita continued to flow as we ate. The manager took good care of us and even offered warm water from time to time to wash all of it down.
We ended the meal with Filter Coffee which was nice as well. I would recommend going here. The food is filling and adventurous, A refreshing change from the French cuisine.
To have a great Idiyappam.....you must visit here.....I ordered Idiyappam with atukkal paaya.......the Idiyappam was soft and good ......atukkal paaya was really delicious with Coconut milk in it.......they gave lot of paaya.......simply yummy
Went there for dinner. Nice ambience. Good varieties. Tried couple of items. Items feels new and tasty. Must try for food lovers. Highly recommended .
Its a petite place
But i liked it.

Pepper idli , fish kozhambhu, pepper Paneer and Idiyaapam Briyani. Excellent. Place is small but food is very good. Worth checking. Will come again.
Food is served traditionally on clay plates. We had idiyappam and chicken curry... Chicken curry was amazingly tasty.. idiyappam was also awesome. Staff was courteous and friendly.. Definitely a must go place if u are visiting pondy..
Good Food, Friendly staff. Idiyappam and Chicken curry combo is really good. Chicken was properly cooked and the taste was just yum. Definitely will visit again.
A classic taste joint at Pondicherry. Neatly maintained restaurant. Food is tasty but not excellent. Served in clay plates and bowls in a hygienic way. Had இடியாப்பம், ஆட்டுக்கால் பாயா, இட்லி, முட்டை மசாலா. Worth the money. 350 - 450 for 2 persons. Just 4 months since the restaurant started.
Nice idli , idiappam & paya
Must try idddiappam biriyani ...👌
🍗 chicken
roast is ok
Egg curry is nice
Quick service & hospitable staff and located to bussy street & bharati street cutting
My mum and I were searching for this place, and we finally made it here.
We had idiyappam with mutton paya and podi idli. They were both delicious. The idli was one of the best I've had. And I am a sucker for aesthetics. The dishes were beautifully served in clay plates and even the water in copper tumblers.
I loved the whole vibe about the place. The service is really good and the food is very affordable at around Rs. 400 for two people. I can definitely find myself coming back here again.

Small and cozy restaurant in erving some traditional South Indian Idlis and Idiyappams with tweaks of their own. If you are into these two all time favourite southern delicacies, you should definitely visit this place! Their Idiyappam biryani was a pleasant surprise for some of my North Indian biryani lover family members, who were apprehensive about the mere idea of having lunch in a South Indian veg. Eatery. These are the people who have never heard of Idiyappams and can only keep the idlis down their system with a grudge on their faces.. But even they were impressed after having the creative spices laden taste in a simple rather bland idlis (yes, to some North Indians🙄). Their spiced coconut milk was a huge hit among this crowd, who supposedly took it as southern version of lassi or chhach that the North Indian are so used to with their meals. The staff is very helpful and eager to get their customer be familiar and at comfort with their menu.
The place is a right fitting in a town like Pondicherry...old world tradition juxtaposed with creative modern landscape all around.
One of the Good Hotel to try in Pondicherry. The place is small and the service persons also 1 or 2 so takes some time to deliver as they have kitchen in upstairs. But it's a must try place for Idiyappam. I loved trying with coconut milk and Korma. Both are good. Also they serve Idiyappam biryani which I couldn't find anywhere else.
Food was really delicious, and there idiyappsm biryani's and fish curry is too good.
A variety restaurant. Food is served on plaitain leaf and glass are of copper. Good non veg options available. Bit pricy so best to go in group.

Very Good place.
1. Food is very tasty and hygiene.
2. Quick service
3. Food will be served in Clay plate and Water will be served in copper cups.
4. Restroom is available
We tried Mushroom Milagu Shadham, Podi idli, vegetable rice, Chilli Idli. Everything is good.
Parking is not available and we have to park in the street.
I'm seriously astonished with how beautiful this place is. Its small and compact. Beautifully decorated and offers homely food. Go here if u got some serious cravings for idiyappam or idli. ANYTIME!
Small place, serving south Indian food in traditional style (banana leaf, earthenware).Good quantities, reasonably priced, with a mix of spicy hot, mild spiced curries in both veg, non veg categories. Sweet spiced Coconut milk served complimentary is a nice touch.
Not suited for a very large group.
The food there was excellent. The idiyappam biryani is a must try if you are visiting. The reason why I'm giving 4 is due to the service provided. Late service really bummed us out. But if the restaurant maintains this quality and taste in their food then I don't mind waiting a little bit more.
The place has decent seating space and offers a very nice spread of South Indian dishes at very reasonable prices. The presentation is really good since they serve in copper glasses and earthenware. But they are a little stiff about providing itmes that don't come with the dish. We asked for coconut chutney with idiyappam and we were told that it doesn't come with the dish but they did provide it since insisted. Overall a very good experience.
Simply awesome! Highly recommended.
Lovely place with authentic Indian taste and serving style.
Very specific south indian menu and tastes awesome. Had idiyappam, idly, podium idly with 2 chutney and korma. Everything tasted awesome. Reasonable price too. Ambience is clean and good. Must try.
On my pondicherry visit recently, this place is short staffed and the new girl was arrogant and didn't understand English. Good food just have to wait. Amazing Idiyappam and pod idli. soft and delicious. One of the few places with good quality and price. Hidden in the busy streets do not miss this one.
Tried the idiyappam and chicken curry combo. The idiyappam was a bit small but the value for money was great. The overall quantity also was good. The curry was chettinad style and was good, but there wasn't enough chicken in it. The experience was good overall but there are some things which can be improved.
Very excellent Service in clay plate.
food is amazing. Dont miss podi idly.
Price is affordable and reasonable.
Ambience is good but congested.
Can come with family and friends but not in groups.
Really it is different to compare other restaurants, the way of food preparing, and the ambiance was really cool, coper glases mud plates.. this gives you a traditional and old vibe, especially everyone must and shouldly want to tase chilly idlli
