Was craving for some home bengali food in pondicherry and finally got a place where me and my brother could have some heart filling bengali food.. took fish thali which had rice daal ruhu fish(1 big piece) and vegetable.. If you want to have bengali food here in pondicherry, this is your place to go.
Simple homely food is the essence here. A small nondescript place on the first floor amongst a row of houses, it is family run. Chicken, Egg, Fish thali are the things available here. It mainly consists of rice, a small cup of moong dal, a cup of curry, a vegetable, papad and a small cup of chatni + chilly, lime & onion.
All the items are tasty and not overdosed with masala, which is just how I like my food. Moreover, they went out of the way to make baigun bhaja for me that night when I requested them in the afternoon, even though it wasn't on the menu! And it was delicious...lightly dipped in besan and fried to perfection!
Full marks for their zeal to serve the customer and make him happy. Would definitely recommend this place for people who like homely Bengali food.
Plus they have their traditional bengali sweet shop downstairs . Absolutely lip smacking sweets!
We traveled to pondichery with a big gang of 15 people. After reaching we were searching for some good food. Suddenly though google baba we found this Bengali restaurant over here. Food quality is good and cheap. Rasgulla, pantua is also available . Taste is also awesome. We got Hot rasgulla at evening. To have a Bengali taste in pondichery it is the perfect place to be.
Also they prepared food for my 1 year kid upon request, that was great.
A Bengali restaurant in pondi wow. The restaurant from the outside does not look decent but why to judge a cover by its book so made my way in without a second thought. On my visit to pondi i was getting sick of eating french cuisine and desired for some home cooked food. You cant say that this is a typical bengali food but the thali that they gave was amazing enough to satisfy your home food taste buds. They provide veg thali, chicken thali, fish thali. Fish either curry or fried. Price is very cheap compared to other restaurants in pondi. I had chicken thali which they gave rice, papad, one raw chilli & lime, subji, daal, chicken curry about 2 to 3 pieces and a small bowl of sweet chatni. I loved it coz i prefer such meals at the end of the day.
Wanna have some Bengali food here in Pondicherry? Be sure to check this place out. Not only it's placed cosily in the lap of White Town, but also it has quite a memorable decorum. Not that it's extravagant enough to be classified as a posh one, but the food here is surely delicious (maybe am a little biased because of my origin). Very good place for family meals.
It is a small place but meals worth the value and taste is available here . They don't have variety of dishes which if they start would be an add on. We had ordered chicken and egg meal.

I went there at around 10 and they served us happily with a fish thali.
It had been 2 months that I have shifted to Chennai.
Like many others , I was longing to have some ghar ka khana.
The thali had rice, daal,cabbage sabzi, fish(rohu), chatni and papad.
The food was hot.The restaurant is a roof top one but small.
The staff was well behaved and helpful.

Serves homely food. This restaurant is quite famous among all the Bengalis living here. A rooftop restaurant, clean and warm. I liked the person who served us food, very welcoming. Didn't feel that I was in South India.
We ordered the fish thali and the chicken thali and fish fry. The fish of the day was Rohu. It was fresh and soft. Chicken pieces were good too. Was not impressed with the gravy however. It was watery. The vegetable curry was fantastic however. Daal and chutney was good too.
They don't charge if you happen to ask for anything extra. The prices are dirt cheap.

The one and only One Bengali Cuisine restaurant in Puducherry.Have visited with my family & in laws, during stay in Puduchery and had such bengali food over this place. probably its not very Authentic bengali food, but people really want to have such cuisine may land up here. Its quite open in terrace and hygeinic. prices are quite reasonable and food is Ok for all ages with medium spice & salted.
If you are a Bengali at Pondicherry and craving for authentic tasty bengali food, you can just drop here. The thalis are great with full bengali cuisine starting with daal,bhaat, maach to chutney papad. Even your extra rice, daal or sabzi to any extent comes free of cost!! They have the best bengali sweets and rasgolla to be specific. The rates are reasonable.
If you want authentic Bengali food in Pondicherry, there can't be a better place. I stay in Bangalore which is crowded with Bengali restaurants, but I can comfortably say that this is the best, homely Bengali food I have had in years... and also by far the cheapest. The thalis are really tasty without being overly spicy, and the rates are dirt-cheap! Extra rice, sabji, gravy are served free of cost. And the best part are the authentic Bengali sweets they make. The sweets are much more tastier and cheaper than most shops in Kolkata. They are so tasty that you just cant stop eating, they would just melt in your mouth! The only downside that I can think of about this restaurant is probably the lack of varieties of food. But if you go there once, you would surely want to go back again... :)
