It's the one of the best restaurant in auroville for taste and price. We had one veg and chicken combo with sandwich and pancake. We felt like hevan. Best place for lunch and breakfast as well. May be you will feel heavy for dinnerđ.
Amazing food from the salads to there French fries to sandwichâs u name it and itâs tasty itâs a payed back restaurant donât be in a hurry when u go there good food takes time ,đitâs a clam and beautiful place the people who work there are very simple and helpful
Great place for tourists.
Tried watermelon shake and mango shake, chicken sandwich, cheese omelette, tuna salad, white sauce chicken pasta.
All the items were terrific and pricing was adequate.
Loved their breakfast with cheesy Omlete, fries and veggies . . The chicken crepe we tried was the best we have ever had . . A simple open air place with no fancy setup . . Best to visit during morning times only . . As time gets down it's too humid and hot . . Biggest drawback is that they don't accept cards or other payment methods apart from cash . . Food is reasonably priced and worth trying it . . Will visit again . .
As the name suggests... Its in a corner.
But it's easy to locate. We ordered cheese omlet with salad n French fries đ n chicken crepe along with cold coffee and cappuccino. Crepe was worth trying but there was no cheese in omlet. Was lil disappointed. Again cold coffee was good but there was nothing great about cappuccino. Decent place for a breakfast. But the worst part is they only accept cash.. And we realised that after ordering everything.. Can work on it and also on the variety of dips..
Literally located in a corner! Tucked right next to tantos pizzeria.
They serve amazing crepeâs and sandwiches
Their cheese omelette is all you need to start the day right.
I also loved their freshly made lemon ice tea which stood out as an amazing refresher during the heat.
Must visit when in Auroville.

Literally located in a corner!
Tucked right besides Tantos pizzeria lies this quaint little corner which serves amazing crepeâs and chips!
The ambience is open air, minimal and quite.
Tiny neat and clean kitchen
They have a very limited menu
I ordered the
Lemon ice tea: this was truly refreshing and freshly made .
Cheese omelette : served with toast! This is by far one of the best cheesy omletteâs i have ever had.
The oodles of mozzarella and gooey cheese made this next level amazing!
Chicken and cheese crepe: this was so wholesome and filling!
Chicken sandwich combo: served with fresh garden salad and chips . This was literally filling .
Also I liked the cappuccinos and the freshly pressed mango juice.
Definitely coming back here.
Such a pleasant and peaceful place. The crĂȘpes and the salads are my favorites from here, but everything else is delicious as well, and with such generous quantity. It serves good homely food!
A small cafe near Tanto's on the Kuilyapalyam road, and answer to my perfect craving to filter coffee and perfect sandwiches!
they have beat iced tea and it is literally iced tea not like premix nescafe đ
plus do try their french fries, I feel everything they make is with heart so it tastes so goood!
Was not a part of our plan, but this place surprised us. We headed here after being treated badly at Tanto s Pizzeria next door and this place was a relief. This place has no flies and orders were taken promptly. We had their chicken sandwiches, their chicken pasta and their chicken crepes, all of which were rich and filling. Tad pricey though.
Fries were good, could have worked on dips though.
Place was all over with flies, the sandwiches are heavy and worth a shot.
Overall nice place to have fries and sides in auroville.
The food is good . I really recommend the chicken/Tuna salads. The Sandwich is also good. Awesome healthy alternative for lunch and please note that it's closed on Fridays and open on Sundays.
Tried a mushroom crepe and the iced tea! Both were lip smackingly delicious. Called for a second iced tea, which was refreshingly not sweetened. It highlights the difference between a home made iced tea and a store bought one.
My friend also ordered a chicken sandwich and lemon black tea, which was (according to him) tasty as well.
We went for a brunch at around 12, but were full till about 5pm! Absolute value for money deal too!
I really enjoyed the nature and environment over there, being a desi it was good to be there ,as mostly I found French people over there,I really liked coffee(cold) and sandwiches.I must say if anyone is going to auroville he/she must do breakfast over here and even leave the complementary breakfast by your hotels and do it over heređ
Loved the food here. The tuna and chicken salad here are amazing. A nice quiet place to enjoy your meal. The staff are also very nice and polite. This place was one of the reasons that made my Pondicherry visit such a pleasure. Keep up the good work guys!
An outdoor garden cafe. Good ambience for people who like simple setup in the garden with simple & hospitable people managing the counter & kitchen. I'm not much of a food critic, but sure this place is a nice experience for laid-back breakfast.
When we visit Auro, which is once in 3 months or so, the breakfast on our first morning is usually at Frites. While we have discovered several newer (and better) breakfast places along that road, this is sort of an old faithful for us. Plain old veg grill sandwich, omlete and a cuppa/fresh orange juice to set up the day for.. well lazing around. Polite staff but that's pretty much anywhere in Auro, nice outdoor seating and bothersome flies.
This is one of the place where me and my friends use to hang out during weekends enjoying our coffee & sandwiches. We use to order chips (or Frites like cafes name) with veg+cheese omelettes sometime  cheese crepe and cappuccino. The ambiance is ok not much and it is self-service kind of cafe. The price is very reasonable and easy on the budget too.
Ordered crepe, omlette, sandwich. Omlette was delicious, sandwich and crepe were also good. Had a lassi which was not made properly.
Open air feeling was refreshing. But, there were ants on the table and service was slow.
Food quality-4/5
Food quantity-5/5
Ambience-3/5
Service-2/5
This was my first stop after I reached Pondicherry on my last visit. I had got off the bus and my friend insisted on going here for breakfast. It is in Auroville and quite far from the bus stand. We took an auto (where obviously, the auto looted us off a whipping amount). This place is right beside Tantos which is very popular and it was discovered by a friend purely by chance since Tantos was closed and suggested to us. It is an open cafe with a nice seating to even spend the morning reading a book and sipping on hot chocolate. We ordered Chicken Sandwich, Tuna Sandwich, Cheese omelette, Chicken Cheese Omelette, Iced Tea and Hot chocolate.
The sandwiches were out of the world. The chicken omelette was delicious and the cheese omelette was decent. Iced Tea was refreshing and felt natural compared to processed ones. The hot chocolate was little disappointing and felt like Boost in diluted milk.
The food was reasonable overall.
A small, open cafe with calm and pleasant ambience on the road that leads to Auroville. We stopped here for a tea break before proceeding to Auroville. Ordered tea for us and chips (French fries) for the kids. Tea was top notch and very refreshing. Fries with mayo n ketchup were finger licking good with perfect seasoning. 7 tea and 3 large portion of fries with a hot chocolate and a lemon juice was 550 bucks.
A quaint little cafe on the road that connects Auroville and Pondicherry. There were many cafes on this particular roadside, but this one was better than any other by a lot. The seating is open and there is a certain rustic charm to the place. We had a tuna salad and an egg cheese crepe, which were both excellent. The nutella crepe we had as a dessert was otherworldly. A must try out place if you're ever in the vicinity.
Wandering in the late afternoon in the streets of auroville, happened to discover this little garden kinda eatery place. The name somehow made my taste buds want to explore it. Frites or french fries are really good. They serve small meals which are delicious and rather enough for two people. Colourful dishes and freshly made. Cold coffee is delicious. Their crepes are ultimately delicious and are a must have... especially the spinach crepe.

A trip to Auroville is one of the most peaceful, relaxing vacations to have. It has suddenly become one of my most favourite places. To avoid the tourist rush, we reached here quite early in the day, and after a soul searching experience, as we were starving, we kept an eye out for a place to placate our stomachs. It was a touching experience in Auroville, and since my fellow travellers and I actually associate our mood a lot with the meals (Punjabiâs.. I tell you..!) there was a lot of pressure on our next one.
My favorite place for food in Auroville after Roma's kitchen.. (Roma's kitchen being on top for its ambience)
Taste: good, Ambience: good. Portions are filling and value for money. If you're confused between Tanto (which is just beside this place) and frites corner, go for frites! :) every single item on menu won't disappoint you.
As the trend goes, ended up here because Tantos was shut down.
Good masala chai and homemade fries. Friendly staff. Garden Café interiors but a bit lacking in ambience.
I visited Frites Corner for breakfast on a Saturday morning during my trip to Auroville. Frites is a French word and translates to French Fries in English. The place is a garden cafe with plants and trees having a very homely vibe.
We were a group of five and found a large table to accommodate us close to the counter. The cafe was peaceful as there wasn't much crowd, so we didn't have to wait to place our order which was to be done at the counter.
Being a Saturday, I went for a Veg+Cheese sandwich and to help my belly recover from the night before's pizza extravaganza, I added a Banana Milkshake to my order.
Food arrived quickly in batches, even though we were a group of five with each one of us placing a different order. The Banana Milkshake arrived first and was exactly like how it is made at my home. Simple, comforting, delicious.
The Veg+Cheese Sandwich was served with French Fries and Tomato Ketchup. It had a lightly toasted bread that was gentle on the gums. The mix of vegetables inside was quite standard, but they used very good cheese inside. The sandwich was quite yum all by itself, so I used the ketchup only for the fries, which were pretty good too.
Damages were roughly INR 200 per head for the five of us, which was okay I guess given that we were in a tourist mood/ set up.
On a scale of 5, my ratings are:
A. Food - 4.0
B. Ambiance - 4.0
C. Service - 3.5
D. Wait Time - 4.0
E. Value for Money - 3.0
With an overall rating of 3.5!
I recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple, homely breakfast/snack in a simple, homely atmosphere. Although, one may always look around and try something exclusive in Auroville.
First day in Pondi and we wanted to go to Tantos. It was closed and we were hungry. Hence we turned to the closest place, Frites. Food was of a good quality but the ambience was lacking. Decent enough for a meal.

We tried frites because Tantos & Roma's kitchen were closed. Having said that, I do not regret walking into Frites one bit.
My first impression was, this is going to just be one of those places that's going to be average.
I was wrong. Frites has the best juices (they don't add sugar). You need to walk up to their kitchen & order directly and we ordered a sandwich & a white sauce pasta. Both were pretty good .
A place with organic decor & lovely food.
Ice tea! I cannot forget the ice tea i had here + cheese omlette is mouth watering. A perfect place for breakfast. Opens earlier than most of its neighbours.
It was a nice place for breakfast. I had a coffee, lemon iced tea and sandwich there. The bread they use for sandwiches is awesome, Â you don't get such quality of breads everywhere. :)

Understated, purely whipped up right in front of you. Its like someone's cooking in an open kitchen while you await in the backyard under a tree with a dog to keep you company. Someone called it shabby in one of the reviews. I'd call it the charm of the place that is Auroville. Sandwiches are sinful and their desserts get sold out to the Aurovilliens easily so not many may have tried them. But they're freshly made everyday. Super simple menu and mellow ambience. Warm- one word to sum up everything.
Frites Corner, from its first look it doesnât have anything to draw you towards it but if you donât mind a comparatively shabby patio, walk in, for you will walk out with smiles aplenty.
We ordered the Frites of course, since the name in itself was indicative of my love towards these deep fried goodness. The salt factor was just right and that is all I live for.
The Mushroom Crepe was to die for. Cheesy mushroom filling in a savoury crepe, done impeccably is all one needs in life.
Rajib settled for Pasta with spinach in white sauce, which despite being an alfredo hater, I thoroughly enjoyed and ended up finishing half his food.
All this while we washed down our food with their basil flavoured ice tea and after me ending up being food drunk like I always do after consuming copious amount of gluten and Raj in his usual self of happy high, we departed in search of more food.
The most UNDERRATED spot in auroville, i was lucky to be one of the few to have discovered this absolute gem of a place. Its right next to the most famous 'Tantos' pizzeria. They have amazing all day breakfast combos, refreshing juices, ice tea etc. Ambience is spot on, parking available.
A good place for breakfast.. Limited menu. Serves sandwiches, omelet, crepes, fries, salads, juices, coffees, tea and coffee....We had ordered tomato cheese sandwich and a combo plate containing sandwich of our choice, salad and fries.. Not much of a difference between the two plates as regards the items served.. Yet the combo costed Rs. 250 and the tomato cheese sandwich costed Rs. 170.. The restaurant is an open space under the banyan tree with shelter...
Decent outlet to try some sandwich, fries and omlette... Pasta and Salad were ok, we liked the salad from Tanto nearby than this one. Over all a decent experience.
My favourite place on Auroville for breakfast. Everything here is just perfect!!! The ambiance, the food, the people and what not. Food here tastes really yum especially the sandwich combo, omelette, watermelon juice and the ice tea. Must visit while you are in Auroville for an awesome breakfast!!
Loved their breakfast with cheesy Omlete, fries and veggies . . The chicken crepe we tried was the best we have ever had . . A simple open air place with no fancy setup . . This place is severely underrated. When it comes to it's location it is situated right next to the very famous Tanto's Pizzeria but FRITES Corner has no problem simply because the competition is not even close.
You should definitely try one of their sandwich combos, they prepare it with utmost attention to detail for every ingredient they use. It's so simple and yet so elegant and leaves you with a refreshing aftertaste.
P.S. try their iced teas and fresh juices, your expectations are going to become sky high after this!
A MUST VISIT.
Love the chicken sandwich combo. Service is usually quick and portion size is large. Fries are amazing and so are their sauces and dips!
Always go here for lunch, the chicken fingers and fries are amazing and the ice tea is the best I've had hands down. The only downside is the service can be quite slow especially when it's busier than usual.
A low profile high value corner for breakfast (almost eclipsed by the high profile Tantos)
My best place in Auroville since many yearsâŠ

Great food and very healthy.. tomato and cheese sandwich was great..
Super place to eat! Food was too yum! We have ordered veg and chicken combo that was really nice... Healthy food. Mint lime was so tasty must try sandwich đ
Such an warm and nice place to be here. Especially the workers out there gives you a feel home view. Simple and nature around environment. Neat and hygienic food and snacky... Yum to heart and mouthđđđ
My favorites are the tuna salad and the tuna sandwich with the latter one of the healthiest and most satisfying dishes I order anywhere and my favorite when in Auroville. Situated under a giant Banyan tree Frites is very laidback place and a great destinatoon to relax and meet friends or just read a book.
Simple and best place to have coffee and French đ fries under banyan tree with group of friends and we can have pasta and sandwiches are amazing.... đ
Nice cool peaceful place for having food. Taste is average and prices are moderately high.
Lovely place for frites and crepes. Good staff, always smiling.
Amazing food. Service is bit slow ... Probably cooking good food takes time
