Chitra's Cuisine is probably the best restaurant/place in the whole Pondicherry. In my 3 days trip to Pondicherry, i had the best experience at this place only. We were all sceptical to visit this place considering the reviews, but i think we made a good decision by going at this place.
The food is really great! We liked everything we ordered. The quantity is also pretty well!
The ambience can be better but it's not bad either.
The staff and service was also very good. We had no issues regarding that at all.
What really made me like this restaurant is the pricing! The pricing is really very competitive and cheap compared to other restaurants nearby. We had a great experience in terms of time well spent and quality and quantity.

If you are looking for some authentic Indian and Chinese Food at a reasonable price, well this is the place to visit. We tried Paneer Butter Masala and Butter Naan, both tasted delicious. This place has both indoor and rooftop seating arrangement and I must say the rooftop seating is very romantic with dim light and soft music and the view of the beautiful streets from rooftop makes it a very pretty place and your visit more pleasurable.
Been there last night the Ambience in this place is like heaven rooftop with open sky and the loud music and the beer in hand made the best evening ever,fhe only negative thing is this place has not two restroom which is always occupied

A must visit when in Pondi. The food is seriously awesome, with affordable pricing. The drinks are the cheapest compared to the other pubs around. And the service is unmatchable.

Food is very well cooked. The meats are soft and juicy not dry. Waiting staff is eager to please but needs experience and a bit of training. Loved the crispy lamb , fish tikka, butter chicken masala and the butter rotis

Service is a little slow but they try their best. Some errors might occur for example today even though I did not order it (I merely had asked about it) they added a Rs 500 sangria to our orders. This was in spite of me ordering a drink for myself and telling them that my brother does not drink any alcohol.
We would still go back for sure the food is that good! You will not be disappointed.

Well ! I have visited four times since I was in Pondicherry twice. First time it was an experimental journey which comes out as a mandatory dinner date for me.
Babycorn Manchurian and Prawn Manchurian are the Best starters and prawns are properly cooked. Chicken curry and Kadhai chicken are added advantage.
Fish curry is mesmerizing as it reminds me of Hilsa fish, exactly tastes like that.
Rooftop is always desirable for any kind of travelling groups to feel mild breeze and old rock songs over the beer.
Since it was Saturday and crowded we were not served plates to have starters and we had that from that bowl ! But I can't complaint against some exceptional incident !
Coming to billing department , They have charged 10% Service charge along with 2.5% SGST & 2.5% CGST. When I have checked with the manager he took reference of Promenade restaurant hotel and informed they also take. And lastly When I explained him GST (even though he knows better than me) he told not to give service charge.
Since Pondicherry is cheap compared to other places I have decided to pay that service charge because of the happiness I got from that place.
Overlooking above two exceptional incidents Chitra's cuisine should be a must visit place to hangout.
I have ordered online from Zomato for Lunch which tastes good as well.

I went to Chitra's for two consecutive days on April 23 and April 24, 2019 and found that women frequented the place and women looked more comfortable there either with friends or with their men. That's a good thing about this Restobar.
A better restroom facility could be desirable for the women that accompany us, though what's there now is just about enough or okay.
The rooftop is nice. The hard floor is perfect but the metal flooring after the first couple of tables was a bit disturbing and uncomfortable for me. So, we moved to the hard floor again.
The ambience is good but they can also open it up a bit to let enough air in. So, they use air coolers, which they sometimes take away from us after a few drinks.
Otherwise, bar service is great and dining service is good enough, except for a couple of missing items on the main course like Biriyani. Personally, I would have liked Biriyani in the main course than Fried Rice.
Prices make it convenient to consume more. The cocktails are well made too. Dance floor and DJ would be great additions for this place. But overall, a nice place to sit back, drink and smoke a few cigarettes.

Tried this place with my friends... The roof top ambience was really good... Mainly could enjoy the sea breeze on the corner tables .....Food tasted really good but service was slow....so slow that the food was not hot when it reached the table ....tried Tandoori jhinga prawn , mutton seekh kabab, murgh afgani kabab , chicken Rogan josn , chicken Punjabi , schezwan rice and fish Tikka..my fav was mutton shek kabab and jhinga prawn......food was tasty.... service needs to be improved at lot....
Damn at first I had second thought on whether to go to this place or not but I'm glad I did. Food is just so good. Indian especially. Yum. They play really loud thumping music on the rooftop but they also have an indoor seating which is much quieter. It's a very reasonable place

I ordered some cocktail(cosmopolitan, sangria) I can say cocktails is OK. If you want to go starter choose chicken lollipop with barbecue source,delicious taste... Been here on a Saturday night on a visit to Puducherry. Arrive little early to avoid waiting list. You find a classic restaurant as well as roof top bar. Little cozy and compact. Had Russian salad, which was made yum! One of the good places to visit.
I accidentally forgot my wallet here and the staff was so honest and helpful, they safely kept it with themselves and not even a rupee was stolen. Was truly amazed and very grateful.

Whattey place this is..Rush to the roof top as soon as you enter..The ambience is just awesome..The vibes here sets up the mood..Windy weather..Dark nights..Moving clouds..The perfect evening we had..It was the charm of pondy which was at peak...Most of the drinks in the menu were not available..Including Bira,Heineken,hoegaarden..Has to order Budweiser Magnum..They also had offers on cocktails and large pegs..Food is average..Service is sloppy..5 stars are for the mood it sets up and the refreshing air on the rooftop..Must visit!!

So it was our second night in Puducherry and by this time we were dead tired to go anywhere else for dinner. So being in WhiteTown we randomly selected this place as we could hear nice music playing inside.
Ambience: The party music was coming from upstairs but we could not get a seat for ourselves there so we settled for the seats downstairs. In this part there were only 4 tables. And decor was okay.
Staff/Service: The staff and their service both were nice. No complains on this part.
Food/Beverages: In food we ordered Chilli Chicken, Tandoori Chicken Half and Schezwan Chicken Noodles. And I must admit, all 3 were great. The food servings were more than enough to feed 3 people. Loved the Chilli Chicken. In beverages we ordered Beer but they were not having chilled ones so we did not take Beer and just had coke instead.
So overall this place is a must visit. The place is not at all costly. Its totally worth the money. Food is really great here.
I love the food here. No wonder it was fully packed on the Friday evening and we had to wait for a table. It is advisable to book few hours before you go. The Chicken Malaysian Noodles is a MUST TRY... Its yummy... American Chopsuey is also MUST TRY....Chicken Butter Masala is also good here. Overall an amazing food experience. Worth going here for quality, quantity, prices.

Wanted to try a different place and so walked in all by myself. Resto looked like a hotel in-house dining place which i couldn't appreciate. I still sat down because it was calm. Food was spicy. Cocktails are ok ok too(5 of them rated 3/5 ). After 1.5 hours and three glasses of cocktails with two starters i was surprised to realize all my gang decided to dine here.... ended up spending almost 4 hours and by the end of it i loved everybit.. Service became very warm almost privileged and the fun we had :) best part was servers never made a pale face for the long list of orders, and questions and preferences which i really appreciated. This place is only a 3 rating as per my parameters but a happy evening unfolded because of the servers so its a 4 :) Meal for 6 people with 5 cocktails and 2 beers, we payed about 4 K which was very very fair i felt :)

The food was absolutely finger licking good with the price a little bit on the higher side but manageable (Though better options are there outside). The ambience was pleasant. Always a better option than the usual posh resto bars.
The restaurant is very well placed in the middle of the French Colony in Pondicherry. We stumbled upon while strolling and had an appetite for some local, but exquisite cuisine. We had the best prawns in town! Definitely recommended!!
Went there after seeing the reviews. Called them 10 mins before the closing and they accommodated us which I really loved. Nice place to enjoy your dinner with friends on the roof top. We ordered a few beers and then our main course for dinner. We have a mix of veg and non veg people in our group. So we ordered Daal Fry, Paneer Butter Masala, Kadhai Paneer, Fish Chettinadu(but Chicken Chettinadu was served by mistake), Chicken Rogan Josh, Jeera Rice, and Tandoori Rotis. The food was really good in taste. Everyone enjoyed their food. Butter paneer masala was so sweet, Rotis are big in size. Non-vegetarian gravies are so good in flavours and taste. I found this restaurant a bit expensive but can be manageable. There are mosquitos which may bite you below the table so be ready for it.

The best place for enjoying food and drinks with friends in Pondy. Don't miss the garlic prawns and egg-fried rice. Both are ultimates. We went twice (lunch and dinner) on the same trip, and both were good experiences.

Chitras has always been my go-to restro bar because of the ambience and the how they host the guests, a perfect ambience to enjoy yourself and (retrospect🙂). Although improvements can be made in the cuisine.

Nice place to hang out and enjoy cocktail with family and friends. Wide variety of drinks and dish. Lot of fresh options for seafood lovers as well. Best to book your table in advance during weekends. Price are reasonable and ambience is nice for adults and kids as well.
