Mutton biryani and chicken cutlet are awesome. A must try for biryani lovers 👌👌
A very cosy place in the back alleys of MG road, it claims to be the oldest restaurant in Pune. It is mostly frequented by local shopkeepers and policemen as there is a police chowky nearby.
It serves very affordable and no frills food, which is fairly tasty if you consider their price point. Do visit if you're in the vicinity.
I wanted to visit this place for a very long time, and finally got the chance to experience the food and drinks from this place. I must say the service is very very fast, you just order something and within 2 mins it's on your table. I tried their in-house sodas, personally liked the lemon one as the raspberry one reminded me of old cough syrup from my childhood. Then I tried their chicken cutlet and Shami kebab, they were good. Then I tried chicken covered in egg I don't remember the name, I think it was farcha , it was recommended by the staff over there, it was tasty but very filling, so if you want to try more food items you can easily skip this. And finally I tried their very famous chicken biryani which was slightly costlier than other biryanis because of the quantity but it was amazing in taste (must try). And finally I finished my dinner with their custard which was also good. Overall if you are in camp and super hungry and want food as soon as possible, you should go to dorabjee and sons and order lemon soda with chicken/mutton biryani and you are gonna thank me later.
Dorabjee and Sons is one of the old institutions of Pune. Have been coming here since I was a child. They have maintained the taste of their food and service is very prompt. The waiters are friendly. Overall a place where one can take family and friends, enjoy a delicious meal without putting too much stress on the wallet!
The oldest place in the city, and third oldest in the country. Been wanting to visit since quite long, and just loved the food!
Went on a Sunday, and ordered the classic Mutton Dhansak, Mutton Cutlet, and Chicken Biryani.
The cutlet was perfectly spiced, but was served cold. Would have loved it even more if it was warmer.
This was my first time trying dhansak, and the mutton dhansak was just lip-smacking! It tastes like a non-vegetarian version of dal-chawal. The meat is perfectly cooked. Tastes like a homely meal. A new discovery which is just yum!
In the chicken biryani, the rice is so fragrant and well-spiced, that you actually forget about the chicken! A little chicken pieces just pop in the mouth and add to that beautiful taste of the biryani.
Don't forget to wash down these classics with a bottle of Ardeshir's cold drinks! I personally liked the raspberry flavour better, it isnt very sweet, and complements the spicy food very well.
The ambience is simple. The old menus hanging on the walls as you enter just kick in the feeling of nostalgia.
An amazing experience, coming back soon!
Tip: Carry cash as they dont take cards or other payment methods.
It is one of the oldest Parsi restaurant in Pune. Tried the veg pulao with dal. The taste was average of veg pulao, but the chicken biryani was awesome with a twist of Parsi masala. It tasted different from regular biryanis but was good. The mutton cutlet was one of the best dishes on menu. In desserts they served custard and kulfi. The kulfi was not up to mark, but the custard was very good, it was different from regular custard, should give it a try if you visit the place.
They ambience is the same as it was in 1878.
It is simple, but the place is spacious. The menu is quite costly as compared to their quantity served. Overall it was an average experience over here.🙂
Let’s just say I fount it a bit costly for the potion of biryani as it was meant for just one person only but the taste was mild and soothing but with the thick gravy which they served with biryani elevated its taste which I didn’t found anywhere else here in Pune. The mutton was juicy and the masala in biryani was up to the mark. Chicken cutlet was really up to expectation as it was worth a money and with rasberry soda which was I guess sugarless it was complimenting with each other. Even had the custard it was really different that the other places as the upper layer burned to make it crispy goes well with the whole chunk of it. All over this Parsi restaurant made my evening satisfying and light.
Coming here after 15 years and it hasn't changed one bit! Excellent food and great service :)

This place in the by lanes of Camp area is pure nostalgia. Many new places have sprung up in the last decade; however, this one is historical. If you are in Pune, you must visit this age old famous Parsi family run eatery- Dorabjee and Son’s since the late 1800.👈👌
.
.
Nothing has changed here. The food menu is still the same, courteous staff, impeccable service, simple, clean yet comfortable seating and portion size for the pricing is perfect.👍Quality of food is amazing as usual. Inhouse Hardy's drink, Chicken cutlets, Salli Ghost, Chicken biryani and ending the meal with their pudding. Everything was spot on!👌😋

Flavourful mutton biryani and succulent cutlets made my meal worth remembering. Pricing is good. This place has a old world charm attached to it. Legendary.. established way back in 1878. Service is very friendly.

Quality of food is amazing as usual. I was in the area and I took a parcel home. Pictures aren’t that amazing as we sat down to eat immediately. From the Chicken cutlets , to the Salli Ghost and pav(imperial bakery), to biryani, ending the meal with Lagan nu Custard. Every thing spot on! Total amount of Rs1300/-spent.

Dorabjee & sons has been around for over a century(established in 1878). This is one of the restaurants my dad talks about, having visited with his friends back in his school days.
On one of my recent walks around Shivaji Market area I stopped at Dorabjee & sons for a quick lunch.
This was my first visit to this gem of Pune and I was pleasantly surprised at how crowded the place was: not with the usual questionable groups of men, but families and even a group of ladies out on a kitty.
The place maintains good hygiene and the service is super quick and impeccable. The food is very affordable and authentically Parsi.
We obviously started with the Lagan Nu Custard: the Baked Custard, one of the two dessert options on the menu. There were a lot of custard plates being served around us and I was quite tempted to not skip dessert.
The custard is really something else; the top is crisp like Creme Brulee and it wobbles like a Pannacotta. The Custard at Dorabjee was made with generous amounts of Cinnamon, and the addition of this spice gave the Custard a very unique and fresh taste.
For lunch we had Egg Curry and whole wheat Chapatis: just a very simple, homely and wonderfully delicious curry. Paired with the Ardeshi's Raspberry Soda, this meal was just top notch.
All this for just 270₹, this place is definitely value for money!
Also, I'm definitely going back to try their Dum Biryani which was a speciality of the place.
When you are visiting the oldest running restaurant in any city, the expectation is not just that the food is great, but also that there will be a sense of nostalgia around the place. And we were not disappointed on both counts...
Out on a food trail with friends visiting the city for the first time, one obvious destination was Dorabjee & Sons.
Unlike some other reputed places in the city, the waiter here were cordial and served with a smile. They even agreed to cancel one order, when we realised we had ordered in excess. All this without a fuss.
We were suggested chicken dhansak, chicken farcha, patrani machhi, mutton biryani and Lagan nu Custard in desserts.
We skipped the fish and the biryani, and instead went for chicken cutlet. The rest were served in a jiffy.
Don't know whether it was because we were very hungry, but all the items tasted brilliant. Starting from the egg coated farcha, the crispy cutlet, to the very well cooked dhansak, everything was wiped off the plate in no time. And even though we were full, we couldn't miss that custard, which was so very delicious!
All this for Rs. 1050/- was truly VFM.
I live in Kolkata but I have family in Pune. Whenever I visit Pune I always make it a priority to visit Dorabjee & Sons Resteraunt in Camp Area. I love this place. I yearn for Authentic Parsi food and this establishment has provided exactly what I need. The Dhansaak Daal and Chicken Frachaas are really amazing. The staff of the eatery are also friendly and the owner of this establishment is very humble and approachable. This Resteraunt brings back memories from my childhood. Great Job.
Ordered paya and mutton biryani, was wonderful this place hidden in the bylanes of camp is a gem.
My only complaint is there was no roti or paratha to eat with the paya cause id there was then this would have been a 5 star.
Lovely service not bad ambience considering the place.
The food is definitely worth the money as they say on the menu.
A little bit more of the food quantity would do no harm as the food is that delicious that is also where the 5th star was lost
One of the oldest pune restaurant. Best restaurant for authentic Parsi food. I have gone there on innumerable sundays for Dhansak. Chicken Dhansak will brown rice is must try (available only on sunday). Patra fish, chicken cutlet are nice.
Dorabjee's, Camp Pune....
एकदम फ्रेश आणि literally cherry on top.

You can't really talk about the food scene of Pune without considering Dorabjee.
They've been my go to place for a Parsi food fix ever since I can remember.
The cutlets, Biryani, dhansak, caramel custard, all the masala dishes, akuri, etc.. every single thing is fabulous! The servers are the same since a long long time and they always give you fabulous service.
It's definitely a place I recommend to every person in Pune. This review has been a long time coming. This is a place you keep going back to!
One of the oldest place in camp area with a mediocre ambiance but the food is worth the price, we had Mutton kheema, Sallli, Masala Paya and caramel custard all were delicious!!
This is where it started! I don’t know how it used to be back then but it must have been great consistently always to reach here today! Biriyani was different and awesome! Kheema was much more grinded and smoother than what we get at Nagpur. But, we don’t have to develop a taste for this! You walk in and you will walk out nicely satisfied!

Absolutely loved their brain masala and keema with pav. A very old and authentic restaurant. Simple seating. Dal ghosh, salli boti, custard were not exceptional.
Simplicity at its best! I have been visiting since I was a child and never been disappointed. This little but popular place hits the spot when looking for a kheema! We had the chicken cutlets , Akuri & mutton kheema. For the price and portions - value for money !! The Ardeshir Raspberry soda was yum!
They have a special in-house soda which is available only available here and no where in india
The raspberry soda however tastes like Benadryl.
The place is super simple and economical.and honestly the custard is the most amazing and different Kind of custard I've had.
Definately try the custard .
Amazing taste, must visit place if u plan on a visit in camp area , great varriety of food items , works well for take away orders.

The oldest cafe in the cultural capital of the state. This cafe speaks volumes about the rich food and the client age that it has. Don’t miss it at any cost.
When I think of having a proper Parsi meal. The only name that comes to my mind when i am in Pune is Dorabjee. The taste and quality of food is always the same and super yummy. I am a huge fan. When you visit definately try the mutton cutlet. Highly recommended!
This is a very authentic place. If you are looking for delicious parsi cuisine then this is the right place to visit. They have amazing chicken cutlets, that are a must if you are visiting this place.
They are famous for their chicken biryani. Excellent blend of flavours with a lot of chicken chunks to eat but as compared the rice is a little less and hence I found the quantity not worth the price.
They have an indoor seating which is divided into several segments. It is a very subtle restaurant with not much of an extravagant ambience. But the service is really quick and good.
This os one of the most renowned places in Pune. And now I know why....The mutton biriyani here is to die for. Totally worth its price. Must Try.
Ordered a mutton Biryani and a caramel custard pudding.
Food - 4.5/5 the mutton Biryani was one of the best I've eaten. The meat is succulent and juicy, the rice is aromatic and the spices are amazing. Very tasty. The pudding was delicious too. Not too sweet, still fresh. Serving size of biryani is slightly on the lower side.
Price - 4/5 - cost me about ₹300. Reasonable for premium biryani.
Ambience - 3/5 this is an old place with a feeling of nostalgia.
Service - 4/5 polite and fast service.
One of the oldest restaurant in Pune....very classic and old ambience....the best part of this restaurant is you will get authentic parsi cuisine.it is one of the best parsi restaurant in Pune...and of course it is pocket friendly....

Ambiance - doesn't matter when it comes to Dorabjees :-)
Tried the Mutton Cutlet, Chicken Cutlet, Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani. A great opportunity to experience the Farsi style dishes. Also, situated in an apt location - Camp Area, which has a classic historical touch to that place
A legacy restaurant since 1876, it has become a icon in itself. If you are a food lover and in pune, most probably you must have been recommended this place. It is definitely a place to go! The simple ambience and lip smacking food is the testimony that at the end of the day good food is above all other features. We ordered mutton cutlet, kheema pav, mutton biryani. It was just delicious! The mutton was so well made... So succulent and so much flavor, it just satisfies your soul. The raspberry sodas was a new experience personally and a good one too! We finished off our sumptuous meal with custard and kulfi. Perfect ending to the perfect meal. Soft and smooth textured custard with the right amount of sweetness and the melt in the mouth kulfi was just awesome. Good service, great place and of course must go if you are in pune! Highly recommended!
Dorabjee and sons is too good a restaurant.
We ordered-
Mutton curry which was so succulent it just melted in the mouth. The meat was falling off the bone.
Chicken biryani was also very tasty. Chicken cooked well and the taste was perfect.
Overall the restaurant is a value for money place. Must visit.
Somehow Irani Cafe lovers like me always find some or the other way to relish delicacies served and this time too I am very lucky to have found one in Poona. This one was recommended and introduced to me by my grandfather who used to visit this place often when in Poona. I must say, my story began with this place since 1995 and it has just continued on and on...
The place if you go by the appearance is a neat and tidy eatery with not much fanfare and excellent on the quality of food served. The ambiance of the place is nicely done with excellent natural lighting and good ventilation (mind you they have still not airconed their eatery). Now this is look part, now let me get to the business. If you are known to the Parsi cuisine then yes this place serves the most authentic Parsi food in Poona. We started our order with the Chicken Cutlets to start it off. The Mutton Brain fried in Eggs is also mind blowing. Then we had the most authentic Kheema Pao followed with Chicken Dhansak and Rice. Must say, we need to fast rigorously to enjoy the delicacies here. To top this was the Raspberry Soda which you find at a very few places these days but surely at an Irani joint. In desserts, the main one is the Malai Kulfi and the Custard they serve. The custard just melts in your mouth and it tastes heavenly.
Strongly recommended for anyone visiting Poona to surely visit this place and enjoy the food served. The food isn't too much on the spicier side and hence also no hangover later.
Ambiance: 4.0/5.0
Food: 5.0/5.0
Service: 4.5/5.0

At Dorabjee the food is King, it's paramount. The locals and the well informed are definitely here often. There's not much of an ambiance, the place is basic and clean. In the afternoon it does get hot as there's no AC. Try and sit at the tables in front of the cooler to have a cooler experience. Parking isn't directly available, but the road right outside is a decent option and our was safe, sans any scratches.
Food wise :
Lagan nu custard : Mind blowing. Do not miss. Pack it and take it home if you are too full. 5/5
Chicken masala : Generous chicken pieces - a big thigh and a nice leg piece. Curry had an amazing spicy flavor. May be 20% less spicy could've worked better. Still amazing. 4/5
Bheja masala : Portion of bheja is a bit small ( but that's how it is now) so difficult to complain, but be informed. Tomato gravy with this was average. 3/5
Veg Dhansak : great, lapped it all up. 4/5
Plain rice and chapati : Huge quantity of rice. Chapatis were fresh and hot.
Quick and attentive server and service. He even guided us with our order. Our bill was 777 INR for 4. Value for money is an understatement. Probably the best meal in Poona this trip.

finally, my wait was over to pay a visit to this legendary outlet that is iconic to the city of Pune! had heard so much and though old, frequent visitors might say that it's not quite the same as before, to me it was an amazing experience indeed!
I visited well past the lunch hours but they were still serving most of the dishes..I kept it simple and went for Mutton Paya with chapatis and I loved it! Paya was just perfectly cooked and aromatic..its gravy tasted perfect with the chapatis..a squeeze of lime and some raw onions, and it's for sure love at first bite!
This is quite far from where I live but I will not miss a chance to revisit!
If you are looking for authentic Parsi food Dorabjee's is the right place to visit.
1. Chicken Dum biryani, perfectly cooked chicken and real taste of Dum. Quantity was quite a lot for two.
2. Chicken curry, was a bit oily but tasty with lot of flavors 3/5
Overall it's a cozy place to visit but Don't judge the place by it's ambience.
I absolutely love this place! It's my favourite Sunday eatout because of their speciality 'Dhansak'.
It's most aromatic, flavourful and tasty delicacy prepared here! The taste lingers and keeps you wanting more!
The owner and the staff are also super friendly
If I can give a 7 star rating to this outlet I will give but Zomato Rating Meter is till 5. The reason is that this outlet is very close to my heart n it serves the Best food in town.
Their restaurant as well as the party food is commendable. Dishes one must try here are Chicken Farcha, Patra Fish(Available only on Sundays), Dhansak, Fish in White Sauce, Sali Chicken Jardalu, Veg Stew, Mutton Biryani, Dal, Shepard's Pie n the list is endless.
Even the carrot Pickle, Rice papads, Sev n curd served here are superb. They also accept party orders for different functions.
One must really try the dishes which I have recommended. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. Kudos to the entire team. Long live Dorabjees N Sons.

We went to Dorabjee's and Sons for lunch on The day of parsi new year and boy , was it busy !
The menu was minimalist yet elegant with the main biryani and patrani Machi as well as the dhansak , the lagan nu custard and 5-6 other persian delicacies .
The service was extremely fast as everything is prepared beforehand to avoid long waiting times.
The restaurant from the outside seems small but when you go inside , it is just the old world charm of the place that I love and also the simplicity and the fact that it hasn't been renovated in any of the bigger ways is fabulous too .
All in all , I love the place and adore the food and ambience .

I visited this place after it was recommended by the Owner of the dairy next door(Mr Sanjeev jaggi). We ordered chicken biryani, chicken farcha and raspberry Ardeshir. Am not a biryani lover but trust me this was one of the best I have ever had, chicken pieces cooked very well and had a dum flavor to it. I had never eaten chicken Farcha before until now, this was my first farcha. Chicken fried with the egg coating it just good.
Definitely recommend this place if you love Parsi food.
We spoke to the owner at the counter, very humble guy and told us about their traditional cooking method which they still follows.
Yum yum yum
Parsi food is super duper tasty!
On the day of Parsi new year we had a yumilicious Parsi food
Patra Ni Machi
Parsi Chicken Biryani
Awesome taste
People smiling as they serve
Opened in the 18th century this restaurant is awesome!
Must try!
Visited Dorabjee's for The Parsi new year's lunch. For a person who has never experienced Parsi Cuisine, the food was great and delicious.
Special mention to both the mutton kebab and the cutlet, great quality amazing taste.
The Sali chicken could have used a bit of seasoning, and the Chicken Dhansak( potatoe sticks garnish) was a definitely new experience on the palate.
Wrapping up the whole feast, with a Lagan Nu Custard ( slightly burnt upper crust) was a good finisher.
Overall a great experience.

The staff here is very polite. The food here is made in the traditional parsi manner. I had ordered Mutton Kheema and while waiting for the parcel, I tried their chicken cutlet. The cutlet had a coriander flavour to it. The kheema was a little bit on the sweet side. Overall the experience was good. 🙂
Whenever I miss my breakfast, I treat myself with a grand brunch. Today was such a day and i locked this place after a little search.
This place is known for their lunch options.
So I tried their much loved Dum biriyani.
Let me be frank here, the biriyani was quite appetizing and flavorsome. Rich in quality and quantity. Tender pieces and well cooked rice.
BUT,
300 for a biriyani for a person. I don't know, feels like they're unnecessarily on the pricy side.
They could've rather reduced the quantity a little and sold it cheaper or atleast kept a half biriyani option.
Because thinking of a re-visit is burning my pocket.
Good food, good service, spacious ambience.
And their mutton cutlet was real good!
A place that has humble seatings, attentive staff and surprisingly tasty chicken biryani.. the rice was was fluffy and lite, the chicken was soft and perfectly cooked and the spice ... PERFECT.. loved it.. was a but disappointed with the egg biryani though.. since we were not mutton lovers and din order anything I have nothing to say about it ..
If you are a meat lover, this place is for you. It is a Parsi restaurant situated in camp area.
Me and my friend visited this place to fulfill our 'kheema' craving. We ordered mutton kheema with bread. The service is quick.
Even though our order seemed tempting and had good mixture of flavors, it wasn't upto mark for me (It was more on the gravy side) .
Pros: Quick service
Hygiene
Pocket friendly
Cons: Kheema can be improved
Located just near, what we used to call "Sharbati Chowk"
Its a heaven for NonVeg lovers especially for the guys like me who have flair for the Irani cafes(Coming from mumbai).
Here are the top from the list:-
1. Salli Boti.
2. Dhansak on weekends.
3. Bheja Masala/Fry.
4. Ardeshir Farms Raspberry and lemon.
.........Followed by rest of the MENU :) Go and kill it..
Visited with my family the look and feel is vinatage one of the legendary restaurant in Pune camp area established in 1878 oldest laconic parsi cuisine we ordered for mutton and chicken cutlets and Mutton bri yani was delicious and at last malai culfi u will really enjoy
I visited dorabjee after 35 years & found same or better taste .Just amazing experience & lot of nostalgic experience.tried chicken biryani ,khima, custard.
Keep it up👍
Authentic Parsi food. Try Chicken boneless biryani, mutton/chicken cutlet with Raspberry soda is amazing. On Sundays, you can try chicken/mutton dhansuk, Mutton shami kabab. Basically a non veg daal. It's unique. Also try Custurd in pudding.
A serious competition for george and blue nile . This place was a legend in the 90s. However the standard has gone down for most of the dishes and has a deserted air nowadays.
The biryani though still packs some punch and retains most of its flavorful parsi style. Leaning towards nonspicy, the meat is well marinated and cooked and the rice is quite flavorful.
It’s a gem indeed 😍 Waited long time to visit this legendary outlet. And it was completely worth every penny. They live up to their motto - Complete satisfaction for money.
Ordered Chicken cutlet - this is a must try bursting with flavours dominantly of mint and coriander.
Mutton biryani- Not ur typical hyderabadi or lucknowi preparation, slow cooked over charcoal this was mildly spice and rice was moist and meat was cooked to perfection ❤️
And you have to try the flavoured soda they will complement everything you order.
Was already full so couldn’t try custard but that’s due on my next visit along with dhansak and salli gosht 😊
Service is bang on they ensure to fulfil every order in minimum time. Ambience is a reminder of past and its pure bliss to enjoy 😊
I had mutton briyani, chicken masala, there own famous "raspberry & lemon" drinks and solid custard. The taste was unbelievable, full value for money, you must the there drinks, they add up there own magic of experience in it and custard was having there own touch. A must visit place. Full paisa vasul.
Small , old style restaurant .. historic food joint I would say .. If you are a non veg lover why waste time .. hit it for lunch or dinner .. Just a food place and truly speaking must visit ..
#avidbiryanilover #dorabjeeandsons #loveforbiryani visiting this place is nostalgic .. the taste is still the same. The aroma increases ur hunger pangs ❣️❣️few friends know my love for biryani.. must visit this place at mg road .. It’s one of the oldest restaurant anyone can visit and a must visit. Darius the owner the true gentlemen will welcome with you a great smile. P.S this place doesn’t take cards so you need money in your pockets ☺️ #chickenbiryani
Brilliant place, if all that matters to you is food then nothing else matters. We throughly enjoyed the food. Such restaurants have that rustic feel, you cannot go wrong with any dish you choose. The joint is running full house for ages. We need more such genuine eateries.
Well.. planning to Have some light Non-Veg Snacks/Breakfast

Old is Gold. Srill standing tall amidst the new era restaurants. Amazing food. Mutton biryani is highly recommended. Food is cooked to perfection and it was tender. Only thing is that the chapati was over.
Dorabjee and sons was established in 1878 by Sorabjee Dorabjee, was one of the first parsi restaurants to open in Pune.
Now obviously a place with so much history , has to be visited. ...
for the full review go to facebook and look for the food mafia page.
Amazing parsi biryani at an affordable price. The look and feel of the place is vinatge and parsi. However i expected them to have chicken but they only serve mutton dishes. One must have caramel pie to give a perfect finish.
First visit and loved the Parsi food, Mutton Sali fish and Chicken with Sali was awesome . Loved the Mutton brain masala and mutton Kheema too. Ending the meal with Ardeshir Farms Raspberry and lemon. Really enjoyed the food and would recommend this place if visiting camp .
I have always been hearing about Dorabjees and I finally happen to visit.
I have to say it’s one of the best Parsi food places in Pune. A- the way it’s still maintained reminds how old and special it has been for all the Punekars, B- they serve the mutton dishes.
However, I had chicken with Sali and dal gosht mutton dhansak, and rice. OMG both the dishes were beautifully cooked, the mutton was melting in mouth and chicken with Sali was tender and amazing flavours. Amazing meal on a rainy afternoon as my city was overly heated and finally if drizzled and This food was the best company ever!
That name is the invite. Well ofcourse the food is decent enough but honestly there is nothing to rave about. There are about many a Parsi outlets in Camp worth the fame & the price to savour.
Service is alright and the waiters look seasoned enough with time as this place does boast of some bit of legacy. On an average, it’s only worth a visit for curiosity always killed the cat !!
Very oldest restaurant in pune, they have maintained their interior and test of food. ......
It's too much awesome.... I suggest to all please visit once. Limited spicy food we can enjoy. The restaurant has all the proof of their presence from old times. They have authentic making in now day's too.
I had mutton biryani, chicken biryani, mutton kheema, chicken cutlet and mutton cutlet
Cutlets are tasty but meat quantity is very less in it you will not feel it as chicken or mutton
Mutton kheema was good and spicy it is very sufficient for 2 people
Chicken biryani was not that good, masala and turmeric combination was little up and down
I got mostly turmeric taste only, it might be an issue that day I guess but mutton biryani was good it was all perfect I just got disappointed by chicken biryani.
Anyways as it is the oldest restaurant and I was curious to try out more dishes as possible
Ratings as per dish:
Mutton kheema: 4.5/5
Chicken cutlet and mutton cutlet: 3.9/5
Mutton biryani: 4/5
Chicken biryani: 3/5
I've heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to visit.
First positive points:
Chicken n mutton cutlets are crispy fried n really good.
Liked Mutton Salli kheema.
Negative points:
Patra fish was too bland. The small slice doesn't justify the price.
Read about the uniqueness of the soda, but found nothing special. Ginger n lemon were ok. Raspberry n orange were too sweet.
Cutlets and other items also seem a little overpriced.
Noticed slow service even though it was not crowded.
Nice food. You get authentic Parsi Cuisine here. We started with Chicken Cutlet. Then we had Chicken Just superb food. You get authentic Parsi Cuisine here. We started with Mutton Kheema Chicken Dhansak salli. Then We had Biryani.Lastly we had custard which was amazing at taste. They are very good at Service.
One of the very old restaurant in Pune since 1878. The taste of mutton and chicken recipes is very good. Delicious biryani and kheema. Ambiance is ok and cleanliness is maintained good. Overall very good. Parking is difficult to find and road side parking is available.
The fact that I had food at a a restaurant which is 145 yrs. old is mesmerising. I did not see its old charm however you will be transported to that era the moment you enter the street and restaurant. Taste of the food is awesome, very neutral, not too spicy but full of flavours. I had Keema Pav, Mutton Biryani, Sunday special mutton cutlet supported ably by a refreshing bottle of Ardy’s lemon soda and mind blowing custard to wrap it up. Thankfully I was supported well by my friend who had travelled along with me 😜. It’s a must go place if you are in Pune.
The food at Dorabjee used to be legendary, especially the Mutton Biryani. Apart from excellent quality of meat and subtle masalas, we believe the extra oomph comes from slow cooking on natural wood fire. The Kid Roast and Masala Roast are simply superb. The Brain Cutlet, Liver Masala, Kidney Sukha and Kidney Curry are also among regular orders. While Kheema and Akuri is the breakfast special, steaming hot Paya (goat trotters) is available in the evenings only. And you cannot leave without tasting the delicious Custard Pudding. Dorabjee must be the only restaurant in Pune that shuts when it runs out of food, which is pretty often. Not high on ambience or décor, this is a place strictly for hogging only only in recent years the quality seems to have dropped slightly. Takeaway is recommended.
One off our Pune food list. Situated cozily in the legendary Camp area, this restaurant gives a nostalgic vibe as soon as one enters. We started with mutton cutlet, moving to the mutton biryani, both prepared in a Parsi style. Pairing these with Ardy's cranberry soda was perfect. And finished with a caramel custard. Must try for any cultural history lovers.
A place to visit atleast once to be the witness of a historical place, since british era they are serving the meals on very low price. The parsi dishes are a must try for everyone. Their ginger soda is awesome. The dishes are tasty, kebabs are nice and patra fish is very tasty. You will have a lifetime memory if you visit there.
It's a 145 year old restaurant. The Ambience is ok. It is right on the road side so no parking at all. The place has sitting capacity of around 50 to 60 guests. It was not crowded in afternoon. The place is maintained clean and hygienic.
Food was okay. The taste was good and portions were also good. It is famous for chicken, mutton and biryani. It is also famous for Ardy's Soda. There are not many veg options.
Kulfi was good.
Overall an okay experience. Not very expensive.

Loved this place. This was my first time and I am ready to visit this place again. It has got this legacy restaurant feel to it. The taste is amazing we had biryani and it was so fragrant at the same time light on the stomach. Along with that we also had Ardee's soda, which almost tasted like red bull but yeah... It was good. The prices are good, taste is awesome and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for authentic parsi food on a weekend afternoon. People are welcoming and the service is also good.
I had never tasted a better mutton cutlet than what I had here. If you are taking a stroll nearby in the evening, go and have their cutlets be it chicken or mutton with their ardy soda available in four different flavours. It will make your day.
Iconic place in the heart of the city.
Some of their dishes are to die for like mutton cutlet, Chicken cutlet, mutton biryani, chicken dum Biryani, dhansak
Must go here to relish mouthwatering snacks
No Parking space is available
