I went there with family friends for lunch. They have lots of maharashtrian dishes. I tried Special Gvran Thali which had a pulsed vegetable, leafy vegetable, kanda bhaji, thecha, bajra roti, amti, masala bhat. The flavours were amazing but I felt they can give more of bajra roti and masala bhat to make a person satiated. I also tried their pithla which was very nice and methi chi bhaji.
Overall a good place for authentic maharashtrian food but they should have a bit more of rice and roti in the special thali. They also have good buttermilk

Such a great maharashtrian food. Being an outsider one always tend to have the local delicacies and Mathura just provided that. Although it is a veg restaurant but things are really good. I loved the chaanch and misal pav. It was really great.
Mathura on JM road is a small restaurant serving Maharashtrian food. If someone wants to taste good Maharashtrian food, this is the place to visit. Their bharli vangi, methi bhaji, bhakri and thalipeeth should be tried atleast once.
This place is my all-time favorite for Pav Bhaaji. Situated at JM Road, Pune, this place is all you will need if at all you want to satisfy the 'Maharashtrian food cravings' within you.
This time too, I ate Pav Bhaaji here along with some Modak's (available only at the time of Ganesh Chaturthi) & Kothimbir Vadi.

On one fine Saturday afternoon, I was searching for authentic Maharashtrian Food Restaurants as carving for authetic mharastrian food. I googled it and landed to Mathura pure veg/ restaurant, at JM road considering rating and popularity. Being in most crowded place I never visited this place before. The menu looks good with wide range of mouth watering Maharashtrian food. After browsing we tempted to order various food items but know the capacity of our stomach, however, restaurant captain suggested one dish (B) the Mathura dish, which is a veg platter consisting of batata vada, kothimbir vadi, aloo vadi, kanda bhajji, suralichi vadi and veg cutlet. And our confusion eneded there as we can eat all in just one plate.
All the food preparation were delicious. Specially Modak were amazing. The ambiance and service is okay. Just for tasty food and mouth watering Maharashtrian food menu, I want to rate it as 5 *. I will visit again and again for such delicious authentic Maharashtrian food.

When it comes to the authentic maharashtrian food this place has some buzz around the city and rightly so. As soon as you eneter this small entry food hub on busy JM road you get that maharashtrian food essence right away.
They have a huge variety in this authentic cusine range. A few of the items are specific todays like if you want to have pooran poli you should visit on thursday and likewise . If you wanna go for a specific item check with them on call about its availability. Apart from that there is a huge range of dishes.
We went there on a sunday afternoon and fortunatly could get a table right away else you have to wait for 20 min to half an hour to get a table. All the persons in there are in maharastrian arrire. Coming to Food. Yes it Ammaazzing.
We ordered Aloo badi, Khandeshi Bhareet , pitla, jwar tadul and bazra bhakri. All items were up to the mark and would satisfy your taste buds. Khandeshi bhareet had that perfect smockey tatste that you crave for in an traditional mahastrian bharta. Pitla had a little scope of improvement but still that was good. I have had better bhakri's at few places hence cutting down just one point but still this place is more than worth a visit.

This is one of the old and popular restaurants of Pune located at jm road opposite to sai petrolpump.It's a pure veg family restaurant.server with stainless steel bowls filled with water instead of glasses was the first thing i noticed ambience was simple.there was a screen on one of the walls displaying various dishes they serve with pictures.
Assortment of wooden benches, chairs and tables were there.seating arrangement was too cluttered.
We went ahed with a plethora of dishes Bajri Bhakri,kadi pakodi,Gahu chapati and vangyache bharit,rice,kothimbir wadi,Thaalipeethi with Thecha and staff was so friendly I will surely visit again to explore some more dishes from Maharashtrian cuisine
Wanted to have Marathi food one Saturday afternoon. Found this place on Zomato and went. We reached at 3pm. Had to wait for 5-10 minutes. Looking at the menu and the Marathi cuisine offered in it was enough to get our tongues rolling. The place doesn't have an attractive decor and sitting arrangement. It is just like a glorified lunch home. We ordered bhakari, methi pithla, green salad(we thought it would be something green, but it was just cut carrots and all the regular stuff). We had a mixed pale bhaji as well which was dry but tasted good. The pithla was on the spicier side but really good. At the end we ordered aam ras but it was not good.
For anyone looking to satisfy Maharashtrian food cravings, this is the place to be.
The shev bhaji is a must try here. Being someone who had never really liked shev bhaji before, the taste here completely changed that for me, and I would definitely visit multiple times just for this particular dish.
The ambiance here is quite simple, nothing fancy, but it is one of the best places if you are craving authentic Maharashtrian cuisine.

Apart from maharashtrian snack like alu-wadi and mas-wadi, main course till sweets like Puran Poli and shrikhand, they serve gavraan thali if youтАЩre looking for spicy maharashtrian food.

If you want to satiate your cravings for authentic maharashtrian cuisine then this is the place to be!
Had jwari bhakhri and pithla - quite tasty I must say. Pithla was delicious. The tomatoes and garlic were giving it a different taste altogether. The first bhakhri came out was a little bit too hard for me. But the second one, oh my god!! It was super soft, super buttery, super awesome! Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Second I had was the fixed thali. It has 4 vegetables. 1 amti. 1 matki usal. And 1 shoot of spring onions, and peanuts, and jaggery, and fried snack. I bet you will not find a shoot of spring onion anywhere in Pune with your food. With so many accompaniments, it was a delight to have the thali. The wheat chapati that I wanted was freshly prepared and it was very soft.
The thecha on the table was stunning. To have it with pithla bhakhri was an awesome experience. And the finely chopped onions they serve on the table make good company with the rest of the food.
It was a weekday and the place was packed with patrons. In fact by the time I was finished, there was waiting for guests to be seated. I was happy to see that each and everyone of them were having a good time. I will definitely recommend this place to all !
They only drawback that I had during my visit was that they were not accepting cards for payment. They should have informed this before hand to patrons.
You will never know that there is complete world of Veg Main course excluding Paneer items too !!!

This place needs no introduction when it comes to maharashtrian speciality restaurants in pune. They are known for their 'assal marathi' cuisine all over pune.
Few days ago i was badly craving for some home cooked maharashtrian style food, n mathura was my clear choice to satiate the same. Its a neat restaurant with basic seating arrangement and a varied menu to choose from...
We started with a plate of Olya Naralache Batate Vade (Rs. 80/-), which came with two big sized batata vadas and a bowl of thick and yummilicious coconut n coriander chutney. These vadas were stuffed with potato sabzi having oodles of grated coconut in it. This was something different and ofcourse tastier than the regular wadas... #Recommended for sure ЁЯШК
Then we straight away ordered a Maharashtrian Thali (Rs. 210/-), its a typical one and it came with two Chapatis, Pithala, Matki Usal, Bharli Vangi, Methi Bhaji, Ambat-God Amti, Kadhi Pakoda, Surli Wadi, Kurdai, some Gul Shengdane (Jaggery & Roasted Peanuts), Taak (Buttermilk) and Plain Rice/Masale Bhaat. The only thing i didn't like in this thali was the plain rice as it was too dry and we were left with no option but to have it as masale bhaat was over by the time we placed our order.
We ordered one bhakri as well especially to enjoy with hot pithala and thecha, served separately in a bowl...
This thali was just too good, all the items were quite upto the mark and homely...truly soul satisfying and comfort food i must say. #Must_Try

So we had gone here to have our dinner and we came across a huge variety of Maharashtrian dishes that were in their menu card right from the green leafy vegetables to paneer dishes as well as pizzas and other continental stuff.
So we ordered their Maharashtrian thali which according to them is mentioned as "Gavran Thali". So the thali contained the moong usal, pithla, vangi bharit, a big bhakri, one samosa, pakoda kadhi with one piece pakoda, amti, an option to select steamed rice or masala rice, salad and lastly buttermilk to finish it all. Each and every item was simply superb and tasted just as Maharashtrian food should taste.
The vegetables were really good and the masala rice although on the spicier side was tasted and cooked to perfection. The samosa was nice and the pakoda kadhi tasted awesome albeit on the sweeter side. Over and out the thali we tasted was simply superb and if you love Maharashtrian food then this place is definitely for you. Highly recommended.

One of d best Maharashtrian Food serving restaurant in Pune. They serve several authentic Maharashtrian Menus. Kothimbir wadi, Aloo wadi, Puran poli, Ukadiche modak , Misal Pav, phodnicha bhat. These items I have tried and they are really awesome in taste. Maharashtrian Thali is also good option . Two types of Sabji, Dal , Potato vada, Jaggery with Peanuts, bhakri and much more. It's content of this Thali.
Service is Prompt. So overall 5 star.
Only one drawback , as I have been here two times in last two weeks , they are not accepting Card payment only cash . So be aware of it before going.

Khekda bhajji (sinhagad kaanda bhaji) ЁЯТ░ 90/-
It reminded me of the well renowned sinhagad kaanda bhajis served with green chutney and thecha.
No worries, the thecha was not at all spicy (the days chilli wasny spicy, so may be).
The Gaavran thali for ЁЯТ░200/-
An authentic dish filled with masalas and flavours in the "Gaav" style. All their spices grounded on a kalbhata. The thali has 2 chapatis, daal wada, kurdai, grated raddish, dahi kadi, daal, masala rice, plain rice, 4 vegetables, a spring onion, jaggery, a glass buttermilk.

Mathura is an experience of a lifetime. It's a pure veg family restaurant. Server with stainless steel bowls filled with water instead of glasses was the first thing I noticed. The staff is prompt, and friendly with quick service. I was cribbing about not being able to try any Marathi restaurant, so my friends took me to Mathura plus they are Marathi, and it saved me from taking up the responsibility to order.
We went ahead with a plethora of dishes - Kothimbir Wadi, Aluwadi, and Thaalipeethi with Thecha, Puranpoli Plate, Jwari Bhakri, Bajri Bhakri, and Gahu Chapati with Vangyache Bharit, Kadi Pokodi with Rice, and Butter Milk. As I was experiencing this delectable food, my friends were enjoying my speechless expressions. It was one of those meals, where your taste buds crave for more. It was simple but the most delicious meal I had in a long time.
One of the best veg delicacy place in Pune ,as far I have seen. Ambience is just a regular one,not very fancy,but puneri style,with ss glass & jugs. Food is very tasty & quality wise also 10/10. Its a homemade feel,service wise also it's pretty faster. Ordered for khekada bhaji,dahi wada, gavran thali. Food was made with perfect blend of local spices & ingredients. Thali consisted of aloo subzi, amti, sprouts, Dal, veg cutlet with homemade bhakri,which is worth try. Other food was also amazing in taste in quality & quantity. Will visit this place soon for more delicacies.

It was our first visit in our friends meet up.Ambience was good but you didn't find enough space.You have to wait for sometime in weekend time as rush is there.We ordered Masala Papad and kothimbir wadi in starters but Kothimbir wadi was truely awesome one as it comes with green Chutney.
Then we ordered Methi pithal Plate,Kaju paneer masala and Vangyach bharit but pithal was quite awesome for taste.Dish Price is not expensive and you won't find truly Maharashtrian dinner anywhere of such quality.. Overall worth to Money...
I prefer this place over all the others that serve Paav Bhaji for a simple reason that the Paav Bhaji you get here is simply delicious. It is much better than the Paav Bhaaji offered at hyped places. It is a popular restaurant that serves Maharashtian food. They serve delicious kotmabir wadi, methi, bharli vangi and pithla. Their desserts are tasty, rich and thick. I will suggest that you try their signature thali. But above all I will recommend this place for Paav Bhaaji.
Warning: The staff can give you chills especially the management so be prepared to face a little impoliteness. It's unbelievable that they do not accept card or any other mode of payment other than cash, it gets inconvenient.
Fabulous food , good ambience and pocket friendly! the way I would describe this restaurant.I am regular customer of this place.I have tasted many items from their menu and all of them are magical.
People who love Maharashtrian cuisine must visit this place.All types of Maharashtrian food is available here and some of my favourite are Shevbhaji, Kurdai, Aalu wadi, Kothimbir wadi, Thalipeeth, Kadi Khichdi,Puran Poli etc.
Rabdi served here is delicious and a must try menu.They serve simple rabdi, choclate rabdi and many other flavours .
The only drawback of this place is it only accepts Cash payment.They were offering card payment for few months but that service was also not that gr8 as many a times their machine was not working or slow working.

This is one of the old & popular restaurants of Pune located at J M road.
I got a chance to visit this place on Ganpati visarjan day. On our way back from the main city, after watching the various ganpati processions, we visited тАЬmathuraтАЭ for lunch.
Ambience was simple. There was a screen on one of the walls displaying various dishes they serve with pictures.
Assortment of Wooden benches , chairs & tables were there. Seating arrangement was too cluttered.
We had ordered two special Thalis.
Food was good. Mix of few very spicy to less spicy dishes. We had tried Jowar & rice bhakri.
Thali comprised of various differently cooked veggies like stuffed egg plant in pea nut gravy. Traditional pithla made of gram flour.
Aamti , the traditional very spicy & oily gravy to be eaten with puran poli
Thecha , a chutney kind of dish prepared with green chillies & other spices.
We also had Moth sprout (locally called as Matki) , Marathi kadhi , fried papad , aalu bonda , peanuts & jaggery were also the part of the thali.
Gulab jamun :- Melting in mouth , perfectly sweet, made of mava was the delicious.
Service was prompt. Staff polite & considerate.
Good on pocket , a place must try for the vegetarians.
I will surely visit again to explore some more dishes from Maharashtrian cuisine.

"Shravan" is in its last stage and so are my patience levels. On top of that, didn't carry a tiffin today, and was not in a mood to have the regular canteen food. So thought of having some homely Maharashtrian food at 'Mathura'. Easy to locate on JM Road, this place is quite popular as its in the business since a long time, serving authentic Maharashtrian Vegetarian food to its patrons. As of now the main restaurant is closed for renovation, so they serve in a room behind it.
