I had come here for lunch with folks from my office. We were to first to arrive but people slowly started coming in. I was a little skeptical about the pure veg South Indian buffet, but it turned out to be pretty good. A good variety of food, desserts and beverages on the spread for the amount we had paid. The quality of food was good and it was light on the stomach.
The ambience of the place could improve as it looked a little dull even during lunchtime. Also, the way they served their starters needs improvement. You can't just bring one piece of paneer for every person on a table. At least bring an ample quantity so that if someone wants to have a little more, they will not have to wait for another 10 minutes.
The service, otherwise, was good and the staff was polite and courteous.
Overall, I'd say that SouthIndies is a good place with caveats. We purchased the vouchers from Nearbuy at a discounted price, but I wouldn't want to pay the price advertised here on Zomato.
I love South Indian food. And here is a restaurant with a twist. I loved the food. Especially the variety of rasams with poori ( pani poori style)
Service was good.
Didn’t like ambience. expected it to be more South Indian style. It wasn’t.
Price was ok considering it’s location.
I am very surprised at the comparatively low rating for this gem. I myself am rating it 4 instead of 4.5; I have cut 0.5 points for the basement parking (horrible- badly lit, smelly, musty, dirty) and toilets (smelly and not kept clean). But to turn to its food and that’s another matter. This is a underrated gem that more people should frequent.
To start with there were 5-6 types of starters all good in taste and presentation. – banana dosa, dahi vada, small idli, chilli bhaji, appe etc. The main course with 2-3 types of rice, sambar, dal and 2-3 types of vegetable dishes is consistently good in taste. Appams accompanying the food was wonderful. There was a reasonable spread of desserts; I only had ice cream with choc sauce. To end with was the filter coffee, the best I have tasted in Pune.
There are some shortcomings: I mentioned the parking and state of the toilet earlier. The staff is also not so great– they need to be more smart, attentive, more well-trained, vocal etc. I went on a weekday and the AC was shut, the place was stuffy, hot and musty; and not very well lit.
This place deserves better publicity, more customers and is simply one of the best deals in town; especially if you use one of the apps to buy its coupon. Bon Appetit!
Amazing buffet. starters, desserts, main course were amazing. excellent ambience and service. it is a must visit. gulkand roll in particular was amazing.
Nice place, visited here twice. First visit was a la carte but this time we opted for buffet spread.Whole lot variety of south indian recipes especially of kerala.
Food and service both are good.
Some of the items we had are gongura pickle, ginger pickle, different types of rasam in pani puri style, podi idli, barbequed paneer, biryani, fried potato, various main course dishes like appam, veg stew, tomato dal and lot more.
Nice experience, courteous staff and tasty food.
Great place for a authentic south indian cuisine lovers. I'm one of them and that's why the rating. Only thing which I find inconvenient is the ambiience and crowded space. Also many of the dishes are not included and one ends up eating dosa or uttapamam which aren't that south indian. This can especially be commented for uttapamam. The rasam, sambar and chutney are mouth watering. However one really finds difficult to like taste of other dishes due to lack of explanation. I hope things will change for good on my next visit to the restaurant.
Sumptuous South Indian cuisine. Not your usual light South Indian snacks centre. Good ambiance. Fair service. Did not get a la carte menu, but was fixed buffet only.
I love this place this is my third visit, I enjoyed the starter very much specially Dahi wada, grilled paneer & cutlet. Main course Hyderabadi biryani, tomato pappu & paneer curry with paratha is delicious & sweet Eleener payasam is my favourite. Good service & courteous staff.
I love this place, this is my third visit, starters are very delicious & the elneer payasam was amazing test is my all time favourite, you must visit south Indian restaurant once
This place is definitely underrated and deserves more appreciation.Have vistied this place couple of times, once for lunch(when we ordered ala cart) and once for dinner(we had buffet).
Both times,we were completely mesmerized by the authenticity of Kerala food which they are serving.Buffet has whole lot of varities and very delicious too.I personally liked sweet corn dosa in starters.Overall, almost everything which was served, was really very nice.Staff was very courteous and polite.
Must visit place for all south indian food lovers.
South Indies is Contemporary restaurant. You will get to taste good south dishes especially Rasam.
Also liked appam.
Should also include more variety in types of rise and dosa types.
Good place with variety of food . We faced communication problem at first , but the staff is much co-operative. The chutneys served as a complimentary is very very delicious. Worth tasting.
What I had there was :-
Cheesy Adai - uttappam served in pizza style
Milagai Podi Idli - mini idlis with malgodi powder which tasted very delicious.
Podi Dosa
Appam.
Sambhar served tasted like it should be. South Indies , just as the name suggests , with flavors of South !
We went here for buffet lunch for many times. Ambiance is ok , food quality and variety is very good , staff is quick and helpful. Rates are little higher than ambiance. Food wise best restaurant if u love South Indian food
The South indies special rassam puri was really nice. I really liked their unique concept of replacing the spicy n sweet chutneys in pani puri with rassam.
They provide 4 types of rassam -
1.Tomato Rassam - It is nothing but sambar. I would rank it 2nd out of the 4 rassam provided.
2.Pepper Rassam - This rassam has lots of black pepper which is clearly visible. It is the spiciest amongst the 4. I would rank it 3rd.
3.Mint Rassam - It is more or less a replacement to the spicy water in pani puri. I dint like it much. I would rank it 4th i.e last among them.
4.Traditional Rassam - This is the typical rassam you get in South India. It tasted the best amongst all. The spice and taste was perfect.
Their puris were also crisp which gave this concept a better taste. The presentation was catchy as all these rassam were served in tubes like the ones in chemistry lab. Ambience was also good. And yes they also served lemonade as welcome drink which was really a good idea. Specially during this time of the year when it is so hot.
Had been to this place for lunch buffet. Excellent service, good food and average ambiance. Great variety of starters and main course. Would be great if they add more dessert options.
One of the best South Indian cuisine restaurants I have been to.
The food is delicious, the staff is courteous and money spent is worth the experience.
The waiters can improve on communication.
Reason: They are not aware of the dishes that are served and instantly say no even if the dish asked for is present.
Good place for South Indian food
Authentic apppm rasam ,sambar ,along with variety of South Indian main course dishes .Prompt service nice ambience .
As the name suggests it is South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant with buffet of South Indian food. This is quite small restaurant but famous for its buffet of South Indian Food. They start with starters usually served at table and main course is self service. In starters they gave variety of different dishes which was interesting and new to us being Maharashtrian. I liked fried idly, dahi vada, Rava potato Crispy. Rassam given at start was good like soup. In main course they had variety of vegetables, curry and different rice flavours.
In dessert there were many dishes but i like the gulab jamun and javar kheer.
I like South Indian food only for breakfast and not a big fan of vegetarian. although this is one of nice place where you can take your South Indian friends to make them happy.

A very nice experience. Don't know much about typical south indian food but all the dishes that we had from the buffet were very tasty ! The live counter served fresh appams and parothas . Service was super with the personnel ready to serve at all times. On top of that they politely refused to take the tip as well. Very impressed.
Very good spread..main course can have more variety.. starters in the buffet were really tasty.. authentic south indin taste..ambience is good..good service..value for money compared to other buffet restaurants in Pune in same category.. overall, a good restaurant to have a buffet dinner..

The 6 course dinner started on a good note. Many good options for the starter course. The lassi type drink was also good. I specially liked the Kerala parota .
What made this place lose points is the dessert. The phirni was out and out stale.
Went at 3pm for lunch here. We quite didn't know how the food will be coz It's our first time in pune. It's a vegetarian South Indian restaurant. But the food was excellent taste wise and presentation wise. It was a buffet system. They placed the starters at our table first. Tomato rasam, sweet dhai vada, cheese pakoda, banana dosa, podi idli all were delicious. Then the main course buffet was also so tasty. It was food worthy of ur money. And it's not that costly too. It was a nice South Indian experience in pune. No tips was also accepted by the staff. There was good service. Feeling happy with this place !!!
On fine day ,I found myself craving for South Indian food . Southindies was 500 meters from where I used to stay. The food was average . I liked the dessert. They had quite a large variety of South Indian food but taste was just average
Food 3/5
Customer service 3.5/5
Ambience 3.5/5
I had gone here on my birthday last year. This place offers different south indian items you may never have tasted before. I think people start imagining some dishes when someone says South Indian. I can assure you that you wont see any of those dishes here.
Good restaurant. Good quality food mainly from state of Tamilnadu. It's has only buffet system which I think put limitation as everybody does not like it. As well it not suitable for old fokes.
Service I thought was bit dull, you guys can improve on that.
Good spread of south indian dishes.Decent ambience. The saatvik festival had a line up of unique dishGood spread of south indian dishes.Decent ambience. The saatvik festival had a line up of unique dish
This was a team lunch at South Indies on a rainy Friday. SI is easy to locate with a separate parking space so no worries about that. Situated on the 3rd floor, the place opens up to a wall painted in a bright orange colour with a collage of Tamil characters I guess.
Elite place with a minimal interior, the staff guides you to the appropriate table. Once settled, you are served with a piping hot Pepper Rassam in cutting Chai ka glass. Forget the glass and concentrate on Rassam. Its just awesomeness. Dil Khush I must say...!!!
They have a spread of typical South Indian starters to satisfy your appetite. So do not stop. Fill your tummy with those yummy dishes.
Mini Idlis coated with Molgapudi Powder :
Superbly delicious. Dont remember the number of Idlis consumed.
Paniyarams / Appe in Paddu Kadai:
These fluffy rice dumplings are to die for. Very tasty.
Crispy Rava Potatoes:
This dish stood out of the box as it did not fit the South Indian palette. But was very tasty.
There was this unique dish prepared with Pineapple wedges. The wedges were coated with traditional spices and had a smokey flavour. Tasted very good.
For main course, I had a Paneer Subzi and a Kerala Paratha, Noodle Rice and Tamarand Rice. All the dishes were good. And then they had this entire counter dedicated to Deserts. Hot Gulab Jamuns were the best. And how could we miss that strong Filter Coffee. After all its the specialty.
Overall it was a very nice experience. The service was quick, the staff was courteous and the charges were not too much as we had the Buffet passes. Weekend began the South Indian way...!!!
Heaven if you like Veg food, south indian food and coconut. We love the rusum pudi. So many options in buffet and it's like what to eat what not. Taste of is really good.

Must try for food lovers and all those who like to try different food options.
A nice place the buffet has a good spread. The food is good and would certainly find something that suits your buds. Good enough for me to visit again
Very good option for veg South Indian food... Wide variety in buffet. Very calm & decent ambience. To complete whole of buffet items u need to be empty stomach. Pocket friendly...
Too good south Indian food..
Appam, avial and the coconut milk was too good..
Went there for a birthday and they even gave a complimentary gift..
One fine day decided to visit this totally unknown place for me.
I was one of the 'Punekar' who thinks,
South Indian food tastes good only if you are at Vaishali/Roopali/Vadeshwar.
Plus this buffet system of South Indian food was a totally new concept for me.
This place is will make you fall in love with it.
The ambiance is good, the staff is polite and very co-operative.
-Starters are served on the table.
(Amazing starters contains Rassam, Appam, Sweet corn dosa, Panner, Fried Banana)
Taste is awesome.
For few items, it takes time as they prepare them fresh.
-In the main course, there are few options in rice, sambars, and vegetables.
I personally felt the main course was just ok. Not so new and wow in the taste.
- Deserts are another thing you will love about the place.
Different South Indian sweet dishes are present.
Custom ice-cream stall makes your day. (You can choose different items to make your cup)
- Filter coffee
Amazing as expected.

One of the best South Indian buffet option in Pune. Mine was one complimentary meal due to our anniversary. Rassam puri is such a unique experience! Appam n Dosa were good. They have excellent variety of Rice n other South Indian items as it gives you gist of entire Southern India through its lovely food. Ambience n Service both good. Would love to visit it on next occasion!
One of the best South Indian buffet I have had. The spread justifies all the major inclusions from the 5 states. Special mention of the Rasam pani puri, dahi vada & banana dosa served in the dinner buffet. Ambience is of a luxury dining and the service staff is quite prompt & courteous. The blend of luxury dining and south Indian cuisine is done quite well by this restaurant.Naveen Sidhardha

I gone for Saturday lunch buffet spread was vey nice, they served starter on the table I liked cheese pakoda & banana chips they served, main course was very delightful Nizami pander curry, kadai veg, Madhurai Paulo & paratha really very nice. Dessert hot payasam & home made ice cream was amazing value for money, you must try veg south Indian buffet lots of choice this is my first visit.
Located in Shivaji Nagar near Pune central mall.
I heard about it that they serve great south Indian cuisine and it is a must visit place if you are looking for south Indian food.So I visited here and actually it is a must visit place.
I had their full course menu. They started with pani Puri (which has quite good and uncommon taste)and a Dahi vada. After this there were starters which include fried baby corn,a panner dish and mini uppam.Main course is filled with many options such as paratha(south Indian type),uppam, dosa and 2 types of rice. However dessert section doesn't have that kind of tempting dishes but the filter coffee which is served at the end,is very awesome!!!!
Ambience is quite ok - ok...Not too good.
Service is also good.
Some people may not like this place at all but i think it's a very nice place and everyone should visit here at least once.
The dinner was good. Had nice South Indian food in Pune.........Expesspaly rasam poitu was very good. And elaneer payasam and Malai bhirni was nice .
This is a very nice south indian food & Ambience was very good Realy enjoyed first time I see buffet southindies restaurants is very good food someny
This place has it's own flavour which I truly loved about!!
I would say one must visit this place instead of checking the menu or ratings, obvious one will have his/her own taste still this place will not disappoint for sure :)
I had ala_carte from the buffet items listed on the day
Actually it's not of a particular south sided state food place..
U will love the, sort of can be said, variety this place serves 👍
Chef_special_mocktail, I wud say, a must try & I loved rassam_puri over here
Do visit & enjoy different kinds of south_dishes available, except dosa_stuff!! \m/
This is an authentic Veg South Indian restaurant and it offers great south Indian delicacies! We preferred having a buffet which also offered unlimited desserts and it was so ponderous that we couldn't even manage to move after cramming down our lunch!
Do try their banana dosa, coconut milk dessert and curd rice and their rassam, it's so yummy!
As we went on a week day, the buffet rates were lower and even the crowd was less, so the service was great!
A must visit for a South Indian cuisine lover!
Ambience was good. Spread was wide. Lit of variety in starters. Really enjoyed very much. Nice place to have south Indian food. Speciality is kuzhi panniyaram. Nicely made and presented. Must try for veggies. Even non veggies can try for a change. Coconut payasam was unique, never tasted before. Wished the plain rice served is non Kerala type.
Appam, dosa, podi masala, kerala paratha, payasam and more. When I think of food from the southern states of India, all these come to mind. Southindies had invited us to try out a new concept lunch for their afternoon buffet. As we walked in, the ambiance reminded us of restaurants along major highways serving buffet food. The manager, Mr Yogesh, came over to us to explain how the new concept of their buffet worked. He informed us that they would serve us starters at the table and later we could head to the buffet tables for the salads, mains and desserts.
They brought over glasses of steamy rasam, the favors of which were spot on. It was hot, peppery, with the right amount of tartness. They served us five starters. Keerai Kuzhipaniyaram, Mini Idlis tossed in Podi masala, Paneer coated in masala and crushed curry leaves, Adai and Chana dal wadas. These were served with two chutneys. The first chutney was curry leaf based and the other was regular coconut chutney. Both the chutneys were delicious! The Keerai Kuzhipaniyaram tasted quite like an Uttapam but was much more flavorsome. The mini Idlis were soft delightful morsels. The dal wadas were the best I’ve ever had. All five starters were superb!
They had a salad table laid out with curd rice, cabbage mayo, green salad and a delicious peanut salad. They also had a pickle bar with various kinds of pickles and podi masalas.
We headed to the main course laid out at the buffet tables. We tried Vendakai Kara Kuzhambu (Ladyfingers cooked in spicy gravy). They had gone a bit overboard with the tartness. We also had Cauliflower Pattani Kumura (Cauliflower cooked with green peas in cashew based gravy), Aloogada Vepudu (Potatoes cooked with coconut and dry South Indian masala) and Karamani Paal Curry (Long beans cooked with tomatoes and ginger). The potatoes were nice but the rest of the main course gravies don’t really deserve a mention. The highlights of the mains were the Mix Veg Sambar and the Lemon Rice, which were both very flavorful. No complaints there!
For dessert, we had sev payasam and mango payasam. They were perfect desserts for an afternoon lunch, light and delicious. They also served chopped fruits, sliced Brownies, Phirni and a bowl of mini Gulab Jamuns. The Brownies slices were dry. They felt stale in fact. The Gulab Jamuns were at room temperature, which is really not the way I like them. They did bring me hot Gulab Jamuns on request. After lunch we requested for filter coffee. I am more a tea person than a coffee person, but this was one of the best filter ‘kaapis’ I’ve ever had.
I noticed a few negatives in terms of ambiance and cleanliness. If you are serving food on white crockery then you need to ensure they are pristine white. Chipped crockery and dark shades around the edges of white crockery are a put off because they tend to imply they haven’t been handled and washed properly. Also, the top edges of most chair backrests were shabby and worn out.
The concept of this meal being semi-buffet somehow did not sit well with me. The dry starters were served at the table, whereas we were required to get up and serve ourselves at the buffet, balancing a plateful of heavy bowls because nearly all the mains were gravy based. This meal would have been a more pleasant experience had it been a sit-down, serve-on-the-table, as is with restaurants serving thalis.
The highlights of this meal were the two chutneys, the rasam, the five delicious starters and the payasams. And yes, they also served an excellent Virgin Mojito! The service was good! The servers were extremely polite and helpful. I did not only notice this at my table: I made this observation based on their performance at other tables as well.
Super spread of buffet. Loved every bit of the starters. Not to miss the tossed mini idlis and rassam puri. Value for money for sure. One of the best sambhars in Pune too. Great hospitality as well.
Been there on December 10, the service was excellent and ambience was good. The serve very good variety of south indian food , I specially loved their pani puri with different flavours of rassam and also the appam they were exceptionally great.

Thoroughly impressed with the restaurant with the south Indian dishes served in the buffet menu. The rasam goes well as a soup along with assorted idli as starters. The main star of the buffet menu is the appam. The restaurant's ambience is nice and the staffs are well behaved.
I'm from South Africa so Indian cuisine is not my area of expertise. But I enjoyed this place. The food was good for me. The ambience is great. Service was also great. Overall a great experience!
Been here for lunch on the day of diwali..
I like the whole concept of South India buffet... So wanted to try this from long, and wasn't bad at all... This is pure veg restaurant, if they start serving non veg I feel the number if items they serve would just shoot up :-)
Coming to food...being a mallu myself, wasn't disappointed by any of the items they served... All were good... But nothing felt extra ordinary, but nothing below standard also.. Variety was also decent enough.
For some reason I felt it was understaffed, every single person working there was running around to help all customers, but I think couple of more extra hands would be gr8
Price vise also I was good... Per person was arnd 600 including taxes, so over all I would say good place for South Indian lovers. And may be a one time visit for others for the experience..
Had a wonderful Diwali Special ongoing brunch. The spread was good and so was the taste of each dish. Service was quick and waiters were polite. Strongly recommend to visit. One more thing it's better to reserve a table on prior day to avoid waiting times.
Went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy at all (which maybe explains the fabulous service as compared to some of the reviewers who had to wait and struggled with service).
Didn't plan to but went for the buffet. The starters were excellent and the service was on point. We then went for the other bits of the buffet and it was delicious.
Disappointment was the buttermilk but other than that everything was really good. Recommended (at a not so busy hour - if possible of course).
The joy of experiencing the pure essence of South India after leaving it more than a decade ago, I got it here, in Southindies. Upto the mark in taste, authenticity and presentation. I got the value for my money, even more than that. Definitely coming back the next time I crave for sambhar rice, tomato rasam, appam.... South India!
Aunthentic south indian feel. We went there in March for dosa festival. Buffet spread was pretty awesome with variety of dosas, appam, curd rice and desserts. It is definitely value for money with a very good ambience. Would love to revisit to fulfill my south indian food cravings.
Dinner buffet is good with must try rassam and appam. It is little priced high but good to try authentic south Indian food. Although some of the dishes are very authentic and might take time for taste buds to kick in.. overall a very nice and cozy restaurant
Superb and Heartfull Experience
Been to South Indies on 13th Sept 2016 because they were offering Onam Festival food. And I am glad that we made the decision as the food and service was of top quality and within budget.
It was unlimited buffet dinner with approximately 8 starters , 6 Veggies, 3 type bread, 3 variety of rice, 6 variety of sweets and Filter Coffee.
They do offer buffet on normal Sunday too . It's only veg restaurant but worth every penny.
We had been there for Onam. The food tasted really good and had a lot of varieties. The waiters were patient enough to get the things ordered to the table any number of times. This is the only hotel I had been to in pune that offers all kerala delicacies in one go. We enjoyed it!
It is the best place for south Indian cuisine. Buffet is a must try as you get to taste a lot of dishes. It is the restaurant which gives you many more south Indian dishes than just eating dosa, idli and uttapam. If you like south Indian fodd or vegetarian.... It is just the right place. The ambiance and the staff is also amazing.
Nice South Indian Food and nice ambience.Must visit for vegetarians.Their buffet is must try.u get to try different types of rice, south Indian curries and south Indian starters
Visited this place yesterday for dinner. They had the "Chatapata South" festival going on. (Yay!!) 😆 This place is in the same building as that of Little Italy. As the name suggests, this place serves South Indian food. The décor is nice with a lot more contemporary elements than I expected!
Coming to the food, we were first served Panipuri's with 4 flavours of water. The yummiest thing they have, without a doubt! And then there was an unending line of appetisers.. mini idlis, small sabudana wada, cheese appams, pineapple chunks and what not!! Main course was buffet. Huge buffet! And collection of sweets. Everything was delicious. We ended the meal with filter coffee.. a truly southern experience!
Service is efficient and professional. Totally loved the overall experience at this place. A good place to visit for dinner with family. Will be visiting again and again for sure!

Visited this place today since the place had something called Chatpata South. Staff were totally clueless since there was no one at the reception and people were frustrated waiting for a table. A couple of "south indian" snacks were served followed by main course. Somehow the place could not satisfy my taste buds. Nothing Chatpata as I expected.
Perfect place to enjoy south Indian cuisine.
Ambiance is average but does'nt matter. The good taste will offset the average ambiance.
For food they try to cover dishes from all 4 south indian states. And food is prepared to be like authentic south-indian.
Starters and Main course are nicely spread.
Paddu(appe), Podi dosa, Appam, Ghee Bisi Bele bath, Saagu(vegetables stewed in coconut gravy) were all very tasty.
Even for dessert they have south indian sweets like payasam,
To end with filter coffee was a great experience. Filter coffee tasted like the one my mother used to make.
Service was quick and fast.
SouthIndies is always booked on Weekends and hence went on a Monday dinner to this place. The restaurant had only a few customers and so was able to enjoy the ambiance and the meal even better. The servers were quick and polite. The starters and Main Course were quickly served on the table. The Starters spread had around 7-8 veg dishes and mist of them were yummy. The starter I liked the most was the Rassam Pani Puri (a completely different and tasty experience!) The main course was also delicious with Stews and Veggies and Dosa and Appam. However, I found the drinks and buffet prices a bit on the expensive side. Even then, it is definitely a to-go place for South Indian food lovers!
a long pending review.. had been here twice.. the first time it was a wow!! being a south indian , we loved their appams and vegetable stu.. the mini idlis ( podi idlis ) were also great.. the second time we went we order for bisibella rice which i found not so great.. havent tried their brunch yet.. but for south indian food lovers worth a vist..

A decent place, variety of food...!!!
Dinner starts with starter like Pani Puri Nd followed by varieties of main course Nd ends with awesome filter coffee...!!!
One of the best desserts...!!!😍😋
Thanks!
Only south indian buffet place. Try this place if you are a south indian food lover. Tried many new things which i didn't even know that comes in south indian menu ( just bcoz i hate south-indian food nothing else😅 ). The food quality was good. Service is bit slow but overall the experience was good.
Had been to this place for lunch. They had a dosa festival going on. The variety was dosas was superb, lot of them never heard of anywhere before. The taste was far different than wat a normal fast food restaurant.
The service was a bit slow, but then i guess that was due to the rush that day.
Deserts were amazing and standard chutneys on the table were amazing.
Coming to the main part- the price approx 410 per person for such lavish spread of authentic south indian dishes is real value for money.
Looking forward to more visits at southindies
We were there for dinner to enjoy chettiyar food festival.Excellent service, attentive staff. Food - very good.Starters were just amazing. Rasam was as usual yumm.Appam, dosa, buffet - yummBest part was the desert. Worth visiting
Heaven place for South Indian food lovers!!
You actually come across different South Indian Foods. Eventually It was different and nice experience!!
A tastefully designed menu and an amalgamation of perfectly flavoured South Indian food awaits foodies at the hotel’s Chettinad Food Festival. Though an absolute foodie, I am not particularly fond of South India food. My perception was always limited to it being limited in taste and variety, especially for the vegetarian lot. I was recently notified of South Indies’ Chettinad Food Festival in Pune and decided to give it a try.

Never having eaten authentic Chettinad food, I was concerned about what would unfold on the table. I chose to dine at the restaurant with my sister, a local Puneite, who promised me the food would be good. The food fest is very reasonably priced – Rs 554 per head on weekends and Rs 421 for lunch on weekdays.
We reached the restaurant, located at Ganesh Kind Road, Shivaji Nagar, Pune at around 8:30pm on a Sunday. While food marks for a majority of a restaurant’s ranking, but so does its interiors. I was pleasantly surprised to see a neat, informal yet classy set-up of the restaurant, contrary to the stereotypical image I had of a South Indian restaurant.
Read my review of the restaurant here: anishaasahijwala.com
The food is really good and authentic taste. Fresh dishes. Tasty and delicious. Worth every dime. Good place treating your Southee guests. Also, if you want to impress your foreign guest, this is right place. Foreigners feel Indian food means North Indian food. So, show them another pasty on India.
We booked a table in advance. The restaurant is very nice and the air conditioner functioned well. The starters we're exellent so was the rasam .the main food course has 3 types of rice and plenty of gravy dishes.
Sambar was good. The salads and desserts were nice too. You could have unlimited dosas and parotha.Ovr all a very nice experience after a long time.
Yummy south indian food. I think this has become my foto place for south indian food. They have buffay system and per head cost is average. Don't forget to ask bombay coffee in the end! They also have nice deserts.
Great dinner buffet, limited options but the food is really awesome. Innovative starters.Must try-Gol-gappa with variety of rasam(served only at dinner), coconut based veg stew with appam, paan payasam and worth mentioning filter coffee.
Ambience is okay.
Great food, awesome staff and peaceful decor. Daily starters also have a bit of twist like Manchurian idli and cheese idli. If you enjoy South Indian food then definitely give this one a try.
Southindies is an amazingly tasty and innovative South Indian food place. Its famous for its buffet. Serves delicious filter coffee too.
Innovation in the starters makes it very interesting for anyone, from any part of the world. The restaurant tries to cover all parts of South India.
Staff is helpful and courteous. The place has even got some high-chairs for children.
It's located in the new heart of the city, besides Pune Central near Pune University. It has got its own parking space in basement; valet parking is available free of cost.

Nice place to hangout. Very good and fresh food. They also had an offer of free food for one person on their Birthday. I had received SMS 2 days ago. Very nice gesture!
Nice and clean. If you desire to go for authentic south indian ..
Here you go.
The buffet spread is great and tasty.
The starters were amazing especially the arbi fry . The elaneer payasa too yummy.
Service very satisfactory .. with smiles .
Thumbs up
.. do visit
Good options in South Indian food.
Food is served hot.
Starters , drinks , main course all good.
People who reserve seats at allowed to sit in AC hall while those who dont book need to sit on the terrace which is quite hot specially in the afternoon.
Its an authentic South Indian Pure Veg. Food Restaurant. Its located on Pune University Road, next to Pune Central Mall, on first floor above, Little Italy restaurant.
They usually have prepaid buffet system, but sometimes they serve at the tables too. They offer awesome quality food. For lunch, it started with starters like appe, southindian gol gappe, fryums. followed by dosa, paneer veg, paratha. The banana chilada was very special. In the end they have curd rice and biryani.
One can have multiple quantities of deserts like payasam, milk items, etc. They are new in Pune, not many of know such place has opened here. They need to publicise a bit, before increasing the crowd, they will need to polish the waiters, and improve the service.
Overall, it was a very nice experience. Surely would like to go again, but on empty stomach, cause theres such a huge variety on offering. I hope this place stays in business for long and don't run away like other start-ups.
Good place to have vegetarian South Indian buffet with variety. This restaurant is located is the same building as Little Italy's. They quite innovative with their starters. Various varities of South Indian breads are on the offer e.g. dosa, Malabar parota, appam. Ice cream mixed on ice plate is also on the offer. Last but not the least they serve good filter coffee in the end an off course all of these are unlimited at reasonable price.
Our entire family had the South Indies dinner buffet when there was an ongoing Saatvik food festival. The menu did not really give a sense of the Saatvik food experience though the food was enjoyable. The starters included the usual mini idlis with "gunpowder", some interesting like the rasam puri while the Veg kurkure, essentially a Spring roll, was a let down. The main course had a paneer dish, a corn-palak curry etc, the usual sambar variant, curd rice etc. Overall felt that the starters were really good, innovative but the main course was less interesting. Desserts had a decent variety. The ambience was decent, nothing extraordinary. Overall good food experience but somewhat overpriced.
Very nice cozy place to have lunch at(I have been to the restaurant only during the lunch hours). If you are a vegetarian and like south indian food, then you must visit this atleast for once. The food quality, the preparation and the taste is very good.
I liked the food so much . The staff are very kind. Ambience is nice. Ample of variety. The most favourite hotel. Been here for more than 5 times. Every time same satisfaction.
Nice south Indian food for a change
The food's good. However, they should improve the way they serve their starters. And the place feels quite dull evening during lunchtime. Please improve your lighting.
Really good buffet restaurant
With true south indian variety available.
The service for the starters is really good, after which you can go ahead with the buffet system for main course and desserts.
