What we tried?
chicken Sukka,biryani,sol kadhi,kharvas.
Overall review?
First of all I just loved the ambiance. All Maharashtrian cultural things and marathi music gives more authentic feel. We ordered chicken Sukka and biryani. You can eat chicken Sukka with chapati, It tastes sooo delicious. I wanna go one more time just for that. Biryani was also awesome. In kharvas they put jaggery on top. It tastes okay but the starter and biryani are surely the winners.
Ambiance of this place is awesome no other word and matan loncha was also superb (APRATIM) that's the only word is enough.
"मराठी पाऊल पडते पुढे"
When I heard about a pure Maharashtrian fine dine restaurant concept, first lines that came up in my mind were exactly these. Being "अस्सल मराठी" I would always wonder why there are not many Maharashtrian fine dine restaurants in Pune. Let's be fair guys. Although there are so many fine dine restaurants in Pune, Marathi fine dine restaurants are scarce. But this, ladies and gentlemen, is the best fine dine I've ever came across (but nonetheless, I still think Marathi fine dines should thrive more)
The ambiance. WOW! This restaurant has Maharashtrian touch all over it. The wall paintings, the wooden doors, the wooden pillars, the utensils in which the food was served. Each and everything is very Marathi. Very authentic!
We have ordered:
Mutton Masala: Generous pieces of mutton prepared in coconut based gravy. Mutton was very well cooked and it was so tender that we could easily break it without much efforts. The gravy was little bit sweet but it was very well balanced. The sweetness was not overwhelming and perfectly complimented the spiciness of masala.
Goan Prawns Curry: Many people who have actually tried Goan curry would know how delicious that curry is. Prawns were tender and they soaked all the flavors of curry in them. Curry was mildly spicy and had that creamy texture which only comes from pure coconut milk.
Pithla: Having a vegetarian friend in your group means you have to order something vegetarian. So that is why we have ordered pithla. And my god! The pithla was exactly the same as my mother makes it at home. To be honest, this is the best pithla I have tried outside.
Jwari chi bhakri: The bhakris were soft and good. Homely again.
Amboli (आंबोळी): Those people who don't know what amboli is, it is the Marathi name for, ya know, DOSA. Now this I think was the STAR of the entire menu that we ordered so far. I don't even have the words to describe how good it was. It was basically the flavor bomb in my mouth. Soft, little crispy, sweet and sour amboli. And with the Goan curry, it was creating absolute magic. Absolute चुम्मा!
Rice (Ambemohor/आंबेमोहोर): Having tasted Indrayani rice so many times, we decided to try Ambemohor variety of rice that has been served here. Ambemohor is very fragrant variety of rice which is typically grown at the foothills of Western ghats. The rice had a subtle sweetness in it and it was absolutely fantastic. Again, tasted best with pithla and prawns curry.
The restaurant is pretty costly. But don't expect it to be cheap by any measure. Fine dine restaurants are never cheap. They are always exorbitant. But what makes them worthwhile or not depends upon the food and kind of experience you get there. And both the aspect here are top-notch. Food is homely and ambiance is stupendous. Need I say more? I don't think so! #happyeating
Ambience : Classy just as every fine dining has !
Must have : Sev Bhaji , Bharlela wanga , Jawari Bhakri , kothimbir wadi.
It was great to visit there , really delicious.
Must visit if you love Maharashtrian cuisine.
Right from to appetisers to Mukhwas , everything was perfect.

Good family restaurant for the perfect maharastrian food .....
All type of mahàrahstra dish are available and food is served with authentic peshwa style cutlery....
Prices are bit high but for quality it deserves to be...
Visiting again....
Awesome place and quality as well. Enjoyed a lot. Most loved dessert ( Gajare cha halwa) 😍. Please go and visit ones with your friends and family.
A typical Maharashtrian, mutton fine dining place located in Shivajinagar. Their mutton chops are just delicious, tender with amazing masala, their kharda is great too. Do not try their prawn curry in the main course. The bhakris are good and go with the curry.
I loved the ambience and how they have spent on the interiors and cutlery.
MUST TRY- Tilachi ice cream and Mutton chops.
The food is very tasty and proper maharashtrian ,bombil fry , bhakri, pithla everything is as if made at proper Konkani home. thumbs up for the service and ambience too. I suggest it’s a must go place for people who want to have good maharashtrian food.
For a full blown authentic maharashtrian experience this is THE place, one must absolutely try the sukka mutton / chicken here. All the other dishes too are fantastic. An absolute must visit !
The place is superr for maharashtrian food.. loved the mutton chop and fish tawa fry...a must visit for food lovers... Mutton warhadi was quite disappointing but other dishes covered it. 😀👻😉
Ambience is also good with marathi songs in background at low volume..
Truly authentic Maharastrian food! Extremely delicious and the ambiance is very well designed. The service is fast and worth every penny! Must try the spicy mutton and also Modak!

Chicken and mutton is soo soft
Nakki bhet dya punekars
Visited here on the day of Eid for a lunch.
Ambience is very soothing& calm.
You’ll get Perfect maharashtrian feel once you enter.
We ordered
Mutton kheema- 5/5
Very tasty , good proportion for 3/4 ppl
Gavran chicken rassa- 3/5
Taste was yumm
But there were only 2 gavran chicken pieces and rest were boiler chicken. Hence didn’t match with the standard and the cost it came with!
Chapati, bhakri are good
Do take indrayani rice when having non veg.
Overall- heavy on pocket.
Taste of the food they serve is good.
Menu is limited yet good. Both veg and non veg.
Can try when want to have fine dine experience and maharashtrian food.
One of the best mutton kolhapuri in pune. Its not like others who will burn your mouth its really awesome. Staff is very friendly. Traditional atmosphere. Taste is very good.
A total authentic maharashtrian place. They serve great food as well as the interior is also quite well. It's a great place to go on lunch or dinner with your family.
We ordered chicken soup, bombil fry, mutton masala, bhakris and ambe mohar rice.
I loved all the dishes no complain for it.
Just the place is quite costly.
Would visit again.

My search for good seafood recently ended in J1. This restaurant has a very unique and amazing ambience. Food is served with variety of chutnies. My favourite was Pomplate and Basundi. It’s a fine dine so slightly pricey than usual seafood restaurant but worth it. Try and share your comments below. PS: They have parking facility.
So it was my Parents 33rd Marriage Anniversary and as being a Mahrashtrian non veg lover we decided to visit this place...
Ambience was awesome... you can see the old traditional vessels, vintage things....
Starters: We ordered Mutton Chops, Dongri Chicken, Prawns Koliwada..
All the dishes were tasty, well cooked...
Main course : We ordered Goan Surmai curry which was good.... Varhadi chicken n Varhadi Mutton
Food was spicy but tasty
Curry with Akhani rice was awesome. Ended with cool Solkadi
Overall the experience was awesome and we will definitely visit this place again...
Note - Don't be surprise if you hear old Marathi songs at the background.. it will definitely make u feel nostalgic..
@J1 The Maratha Fine Dine at Ghole road, Shivaji Nagar, Pune taking Maharashtrian cuisine up a notch
.
.
The spacious dining room with unpretentious country style decor is serving authentic flavours found across Maharashtra
.
.
Mutton Chops - The succulent appetiser spiced perfectly with local spices to bring about great flavours
.
.
Country Chicken Curry - This thin gavraan chicken curry was to die for. The flavours of chicken and local spices mixed well to create this delicious dish, which tasted extremely delish with layered wheat flatbread (ghadichi poli) & ghee
.
.
Shev Bhaji - Red curry topped with Bhavnagri shev proved to be a good choice from the vegetarian menu. The crunchiness of shev and thick red curry blended well together
.
.
Kharwas - It is a pleasure to find this Maharashtrian dessert in a restaurant. The pillowy soft Kharwas, made from cow or buffalo colostrum, with a zing of cardamom offered a good ending to the lunch
.
.
Verdict: A pretty impressive restaurant with fine decor, friendly staff, and authentic Maharashtrian flavours. Totally worth the cost
Awesome food, ambiance and music.
We tried: Mutton paya soup, Varhadi mutton, kolhapuri mutton, chap, special Til ice-cream, home made aam rus. great food. Its little costly but worth quality and taste. :)
It was great Maharastrian food taste with great old hit songs from era of dada kondake to nisargraja. true golden collection of marathi songs. I loved the cultural effect made in infra like electric switch from 1990s era and utensils. We enjoyed food and the place.
Nice place to have maharastrian cuisine....
Awesome and calm place to hang out with family...

इथले व्हेज म्हणजे लाजवाब
Ambience was great and the background music which is only Marathi Music (old) was awesome.
The best marathi food ever!
I believe its the only fine dine marathi cuisine restaurant ever....friendly staff...good service, mind blowing menu...Akhni bhaat & Sukat Papad...a must try!
Very nice food proper maharashtrian. We tried solkadhi l,Khandeshi chicken mutton biryani.amhala J1 khup khup awdala.Staff gave us very good treatment and gave us detail knowledge of food
I had heard so much about their Maharashtrian non veg food and it did not disappoint me at all.
We tried mutton Kolhapuri and it was amazing, so was their varhadi chicken.
Solkadhi and kokam sharbhat were a perfect combination with the food.
The ambience and the music they played seemed little dull.
But full stars for the food!!
Awesome. I specially visited for mutton chop dry, the starter and they made it excellent. It's worth visiting. Chicken curry was good too. Nice
A friend suggested this place. We came together for lunch. The staff is very helpful in choosing which food to go with or which dish to choose. They explain at length the way the food is cooked and with what will it go. They have parking and the ambiance is minimilastic and awesome. A must visit place if you want to try flavoursome Marathi cusine.
As the name suggests this place is authentic Maratha fine dine. Once you enter the restaurant you get to see the classic interior using antiques.
I am maharashtrian and I can assure you that the food they serve is authentic maharashtrian.
Prawns Koliwada and bombil fry is must try. Soups are delicious. I have tried multiple chicken dishes and have loved all of them. You must try a rice cooked in chicken alani. Solkadhi is also good.
And the best part is the marathi songs in the background.
So my rating goes like this

*THE MERRY QUOTIENT* - The marathi music and the decor.
The first impression and quite a striking one ! It's a very tastefully and aestheically done up space. Attention to detail is on point. The ambience of the place makes it perfect for a small and quiet outing with close friends. It's even perfect for a couple looking for a place with good food and quiet ambience. Dim lighting , soft marathi music and a cozy indoor space.
It's a place for anyone craving authentic and decorated marathi cuisine. Its very well adapted to a fine line experience. Infact, this must be the only MARATHA FINE DINING RESTAURANT in the city.
The food is good, made with an understanding of the requirement of the recipe and hence makes every offering different from the other. The menu is limited if you are a vegetarian. The bhakris were the best ones I have had in a long time in any restaurant. The portions are hefty ones easily sufficing two hungry adults .
The expenses are moderate and worth it !
Definitely a must visit for a wholesome experience !

I fell in love with this place the moment we entered in as it gives those typical marathi vibes. It has a very nice ambience (similar to a ‘vaada’) with old Marathi songs playing in the background. Don’t be surprised if you see a few women around clad in nauvari saree.
They serve authentic Maharashtrian food. Kharwas was heaven. Everything from food to service was perfect.
Overall experience: 5/5
The place is having a royal Maharashtrian ambience with all the old antics every corner of the restaurant. It is a resemblance of old Maharashtrian interiors and decor.
They have authentic taste of Maharashtrian cuisine.
I must admire the chef very much the flavour and aroma of the dish was so good that I forget to click pictures before eating
Everything was good but must say the chef was very good he prepared food with all his heart
The reason for giving 5stars is just the food and the chef.

Fine dine Maharashtraian restraunt- We were amazed to read this tag line but dint know what to expect. The food, decor, service, even the music exceeded our expectation.
We started our meal with mutton chops which were cooked to perfection, succulent n quite flavourful. Also ordered a prawn tawa fry which was a tangy, spicy stirfry preparation that i would personally recommend. The coconut chutney served with it reminded me of my childhood.
Our maincourse was simple- we opted for a varhadi mutton which was a small portion, medium spicy, thick gravy with 4 pieces of well cooked mutton. To my surprize their chapatiz were perfect ghadicha polya. We then opted for akhni rice which is mildly spiced rice cooked in mutton broth. All in all the food was assal marathi. N yes they did have a fine dine aspect to it with the rustic traditional decor, fine cutlery, excellent service and mood lighting.
Also one must try their solkadi and the tambul(mouth freshner). The basundi was average.
N last but not the least dont b surprized if u here old marathi songs in the background. It only adds to the marathipana. Good concept, nicely presented to the guests. 👍👍
I found this fine dine restaurant on whatshot in Pune. A well decor good service authenticated Maharashtrian food place.loved their gajar ka halwa.
So, on one lazy Sunday in December I was randomly searching for a decent family restaurant around my area. We were in the mood for a non-veg lunch and were very hungry. I had seen J1 many times while passing through Ghole Road, so decided to give it a try.
Ambience was amazing. Though it's not a very big place, it is nicely decorated using the "Marathi culture" theme. It reminded me my childhood days living in "Waada culture." Especially those who were born in 60s or 70s can easily relate to this theme. It was awesome.
Coming to the food, we had ordered-
Kolhapuri Chicken, Masala Papad & Solkadi
and believe me everything was finger-licking tasty.
Though I'm not a die-hard foodie, I must appreciate the Taste & Service they provide. Kudos to J1 👍

Food was excellent...I was in food coma !!Bharli Wangi,Matki Ussal, Bhakrii were very good....Masala bhat was ok......
Ambience⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️......Music⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.........Staff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best Maharashtrian non-veg restaurant in Pune with a pleasant and unique Maharashtrian ambience from washroom to music it feels like you are in old Marathi vada (big house) 👍👍👍👍👍. Food taste and quality is also pure Maharashtrian. If you want to taste Maharashtrian food then this is best place to visit.
So this fine dine restaurant was suggested by my friends. So I decided to visit this place with my family on a Sunday night. I must say, this restaurant truly gives you those typical Maharashtrian vibes. From the ambience, to the music, everything blended with the theme perfectly!!
For starters, we had crab soup and chicken soup. Both of them were authentically prepared and served well. They were amazing.
For main course, we had ordered 'kothimbir (coriander) chicken' and prawns masala. And these dishes too, did not disappoint us!! It was heaven.
Last but not the least, the staff was polite and friendly. Service too, was prompt. Must visit restaurant in Deccan!!
I love this place! The food here is exceptional. Every time I’ve friends visiting me in Pune, this is the one place I take them to eat some yum Maharashtrian food. The ambience and service is great too.
Perfect place for Indian non vegetarian lovers. I’ve been here for a few times now, and they never disappointed. Quite a lot of masala in the curries but still scrumptious! Some dishes are very spicy. Steamed fish is a total delicacy. Mutton curries are a must have. Large portions though! Total value for money :)
We visited this place during our weekend getaway. Absolutely amazing food! Authenticity of Maharashtrian food is outstanding.
We ate chicken karda - spicy yet delicious,
Mutton chops - mouth watering
Another chicken dish - I don’t remember the name.
Varan - we had a veg person in the group - I tasted some from his, I remembered by grand mother’s cooking.
It has been few days since my return to Mumbai, but I still remember this place very often and my mouth starts watering...
would be a regular place now in Pune for our meals!
Thank you guys... and Kudos to the chef!
Like if you want to eat authentic maharastrian food you should go here... Good food and good amibence... Not a big place though... Prices are bit high... Not good for them who wants to save money without wasting...😄😄😄
Nice place to have authentic Maharashtrian dishes. Had Tambada Pandhara rassa, Varhadi Mutton, Chiken Sukka.. it was good. The decor of the restaurant was nice with marathi songs were playing in backround..
One of our first experiences with authentic Maharashtrian cuisine in Pune. The ambience is nice with classical music flowing through softly.
The things which differ a place serving cuisines and those only trying to is that the wait-staff is well aware of the items on the Menu, not just the ingredients but also how they're made.
Sheikh (our steward) knew his stuff and could easily suggest us what to have.
Being a quick workday lunch, we had the Dongri Chicken. Very nice, succulent, simple yet tasty dish which had a lot of garlic. But, unlike other garlic dishes, there's none of the blow-back if Garlic. Will come for this dish itself. Varhadi mutton, Nagpur based mutton dish, too was good but a little too spicy for our taste buds. The quantity, too, is pretty good for two people.
The jowari roti was the weakest thing we ate. As it was a little too dry and was barely different in taste compared to normal roti.
Overall, a good experience

True worth...for each penny...
Tried their masala papad - A different touch of some traditional spice which made it unique.
Chiken soup - To my surprise they just bought chiken starch (अळणी)(Soup after we boil chicken in turmeric and spice) and it was yummm....
Kolhapuri Chicken - It was spicy....but was bit thick taste was good.
Best part they just serve wheat roti and Bhakri.. healthy option though....
The attendent suggested us to try Alni rice(rice cooked in chicken soup) instead of usual jeera rice and yess it was something different yet sooo going with Kolhapuri Chicken
And last but yes not the least....Ordered Solkadi....and yesss it was the yummiest.....must try...
Service - Though we visited this palce late night but the staff was very humble and sooo welcoming though it was time to close...
MUST VISIT FOR SURE...!!!! VISITING SOON...!!!
Visited this place for the first time, had Mutton Chops, Solkadi, Prawns Biryani. The food was flavoursome. Mutton Chops were tender and juicy.
Ambiance was amazing.
If you want to binge on non veg food with some desi flavors, this is the place. Just loved the fish preparations here. A must go place for seafood lovers.
Must try the Shev bhaji, their Masale Bhat is ultimate. Loved the ambience, service and food. 5/5 stars. Cherry on the cake was Ukali che modak.
If you're in Pune and desire to eat authentic Maharashtrian Non-Veg जेवण is the place for you.
Excellent well thought ambience and topped with good food will make your day. If you are a Maharashtrain you will be relate to the ambience a lot and will appreciate it more. Definitely a place worth trying.
Absolutely authentic Maharashtrian food. Both veg and non veg servings are yummy!!!
Do try Nachni Papad and Sol Kadhi.
The ambience gives you feel of country side. The soothing Old Marathi songs makes it more special to be here.
This restaurant is perfect example where you get good food and lovely ambience.
Superb ambience tasty food Paisa vasool superb old Marathi songs are played in background at a very low volume whatever we ordered was worth the cost n tasty kokum kadi can be improved overall the restaurant is nice, must visit.
J1 is one of my all time favourite places in Pune.
Last Sunday we went there for enjoying Akhad.
I always feels that ambience of any restraunt or hotel add value in its food....As far J1 ambience is concern it's an authentic maharashtrian one.
We ordered Dongri Chicken and Khekda bhaji in starter...Both were too yummy to have as starter.
In main course we ordered Gavran Chicken Kharda....It's a dish for spicy food lovers....and it's really spicy.....because in many restraunts when we ask spicy it will come as normal spicy...But kharda chicken was like ufffffff.... It was not only spicy but at the same time juicy, soft and delicious also. As sider we also ordered Koshimbhir which was another add on to dinner.
But I am disappointed in rice. Because we ordered Indrayni but there was no aroma of Indrayni when it came... Please look in to it. Indrayni lover order for that special aroma and if it will not there its like waste of money...
If your in Pune and desire to eat authentic Maharashtrain Non-Veg (even Seafood) or Veg food, जेवण is the place for you.
Excellent well thought ambience and topped with good food will make your day. We had chicken masala starter, crab soup, malvani prawns curry with amboli. If you are a Maharashtrain you will be relate to the ambience a lot and will appreciate it more. Overall my rating is 4/5 because I feel they lack the variety for vegetarian starters. Definitely a place worth trying.
Was there for a Sunday Lunch. The ambience is quite impressive .Took the corner table towards the glass wall .
Service was quite good and in time.Food was very delicious.Bhakri and mutton rasa are must to try along with the tambra rasa and pandra rasa.
A must visit place in FC road.
Really good place for the one who love the spicy food and want to try non-veg food. I love the chicken kharda and bhakri 😍 and the ambience of this place
Good food with lovely ambience. Though spicy but the weather permits it to eat it. Service at its best. Had been on Sunday 22nd for a family get together for Lunch. Enjoyed it n good çourteous staff
Good Maharashtra food !
A bit oily though but taste wise it was nice. Small space bit nicely done and one should visit specifically for their non veg
The place really provides fine dine experience of Maratha cuisine. Serving staff is very generous in providing services, will never delay any order and are helpful deciding the menu items for the course. Ambience is also very unique to the theme, and evening just looks different when compared to other restaurants. Only downside I can say is limited number of items available in the veg menu. Rest assured, everything is exceeds expectations. Making a reservation before visiting is advisable.
Ambience is literally very good. Service also quite good also the food taste. It is good for people having special love for non veg food. I loved the chicken soup known as Aarani in Marathi. It gives a feel of Indian ancient tradition. We went on weekend and had to wait for half an hour. Usually it is better to have a booking before or else reaching early will be good.
Nice place for authentic maharashtrian non-veg lovers. The place is quaint and has a native charm. Loved the ambience. Little overpriced but worth it. They do not have thali system which means you have to order your tambda and pandhara rassa separately😶. Service is good. Would like to visit again.
Attention to the all Marathi guys here. Craving to eat kind of village food in this city then there is no better place than this.
Baring few things you will feel like actually you are having food somewhere in countryside.
Pros:
1. Great ambiance.
2. Pretty good service.
3. Quality of food.
Cons :
One can argue over prices but well the food is such delicious you hardly notice the price. But yes price is bit high.
Well have to have visit place.
Great place where you can enjoy peaceful dinner. Food taste is good and ambience adds more feel in it. Highly recommendations for people who like old and historical place also who is having interest in taste of village. Must Visit, Best place visited ever.
On a weekday we had a team lunch party at J1, Ghole Road, Pune. This restaurant serves authentic food from Maharashtrian cuisine. This restaurant is on the busy Ghole Road, Pune. The restaurant has a small parking section, but most of the time you have to look for your own parking.
Although the restaurant is on the road side, but it does provide a peaceful environment for a fine dining experience.
The ambiance is traditional, beautiful & peaceful. The restroom doors are old style & the old styled electric switches, combination of black & white remind me of 80’s era. The staff greeted us courteously & directed us to our reserved tables.
The menu is filled with lots of choices for non-vegetarian and a few choices for vegetarians. To start with I had ordered Palak Soup (Healthy & nutritious Spinach soup, mildly flavoured with spices). In the Starters Kothimbir Vadi (Crispy Coriander & chickpea fritters) & Alu Vadi (Traditional Maharashtrian fritters made from Colocasia leaves).
While we were waiting for our soup & starters, we were served with a complimentary basket of Papads (Kurdai, Rice etc.). The papads were yum & crunchy.
Our soups & starters were served in time.
The soup was yummy, the flavor of spinach & mixed spices was prominent.
Kothimbir Vadi was crispy & good in taste but I liked Alu Vadi the most, it was delicious.
The delicious soup & starters increase our appetite for the main course. In the Main course we had ordered Curd Onion Salad (Onions & Tomatoes in creamy yogurt), Tempered Salad (Mix of Cucumber, tomato & onion & chilies in creamy yogurt tempered with spices), Sautéed Potato (Potato sautéed with turmeric, mustard seeds & topped with fresh coriander), Shev Bhaji (Spicy red curry topped with Bhavnagari Shev), Bhakri (Hand – Flatted ground millet flatbread). Along with we had ordered Solkadi (Cool digestive made from kokam & coconut milk).
Both the salads were good, especially Tempered Salad.
Sautéed Potato was OK in taste.
Shev Bhaji, although unhealthy, but it was amazingly delicious!
Bhakri was soft just like homemade. Solkadi was OK in taste!
In the dessert we had ordered Kesar Pista (Saffron & Pistachio) Ice Cream & Kharwas (Sweet steamed pudding made from the first milk).
Ice Cream was good!
Kharwas was delicious & unique in taste.
Service was good & staff was courteous!
Cost wise, considering the food taste, good service & the calm dining experience, it’s reasonable.
Great place for authentic marathi food. Fish rava fry is a must eat here. Ambience is very nice. Dim light inside adds flavour to your dinner. Food options are less here. Must visit for trying Marathi food. Located in dhole patil road. Marathi old songs playing in background is total bliss to heart.
It is known to be an Authentic Marathi taste specialists Restaurant. And it it does that too. Quite good menu options. And what is served is definately delicious. The ambiance is elegant with proper lighting and music . The staff was well behaved and polite. Considering the services and quality of the restaurant the price is justified. Must visit if you want to try marathi tastes.
