It is a trendy and offbeat dining space, designed in a way that nothing can take away the focus from the pièce de résistance of the entire restaurant. Its larger-than-life light installation wall that stands as a dramatic backdrop to the one-of- a-kind trapezoidal island bar that is touted to be one of the most stunning bars in Pune city.
Cocktails
The Soulful Strawberry Sour [Rs. 475] from the Masala Bar Signature Tipples section was a delicate balance of vodka, strawberry and rosemary shrub with fresh citrus while the Chai (Whiskey) Pe Charcha [Rs. 450] from the #Instagram #Dramebaaz section was a whisky based cocktail with homemade chai tea syrup and fresh citrus. Loved the theater of Indian spices with dry ice to give fragrant fumes. And the drink was quite delicious as well. A perfect drink to ensnare your senses. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended
Chhota Chakna
The Mooli Masala Matar Murmura [Rs. 60] was served in a very innovative conch however the fried peas were too hard to bite and didn’t go too well with the murmura either. Thankfully, the Chini-Chinese Bhel [Rs. 60] had some good flavors. Loved the crunchy noodles. Again, some very innovative presentation giving the illusion of a magically dangling bottle.
Soups and Salads
The Bangkok Salad [Rs. 195] made with raw papaya, raw mango and topped with fried lotus stems was an extremely light and refreshing option. A perfect balance of sweet, acidic, crunchy and soft. #DeliciousDelicious
Galiyaan, Nukkad, Chauraha – Street Food
The Murugan Baby Idli [Rs 195] would surely make your heart sing “Apdi Podi Podi Podi” thanks to the addition of the lovely gunpowder chutney while the Lahori Murgh [Rs. 295] with masala butter cream and laal pyaaz would make you want to dance around the pole on which it is speared.
Tapas Veg.
Kutch Nu Kachhi Dabeli [Rs. 205] with anar and peanut chat had a quite lovely flavor, reminiscent of the street delicacy that people like to gorge on.
Tapas Non-Veg.
The Shish Tik-Tok [Rs. 295] with alternating lamb and chicken chunks was another delicious dish, packed full of flavors. Was pleasantly surprised to find the mutton was more tender than the chicken. #DeliciousDelicious
The Ching-Chong-Chili Pork Ribs [Rs. 285] painted a pretty picture on a plate, garnished with flower petals. Lovely sauce, tender ribs but found the quantity rather wanting.
Heavy Weights - Veg
The Carbon Pao Bhaji [Rs. 315] capitalizes on the current social media sensation of preparing food using activated charcoal however thankfully the chef has not gone overboard with the stuff. Overall it was a delicious khada bhaji served with skewered paos. #YumYum
The Puffed Grains & Pesto Khichadi with Parmesan Olive Cream [Rs. 325] was one of the best dishes of the night, nay, of the entire menu! It was total comfort food taken to the next level. Simply could not stop eating till it was all polished away. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended
Heavy Weights - Veg
The Calingut Prawns Curry [Rs. 375] was a Goan preparation made using coconut milk as a base and served with steamed rice. The lip-smacking curry was so good that prawns ended up playing a supporting role.
The Baby Lamb served with Indian breads had tender meat cooked in a wonderful gravy. The succulent meat pieces were literally falling off the bones and that made the dish all the more enjoyable. #DeliciousDelicious
Meetha
Dining at a #HighOctaneBar would certainly translate into fun and creatively prepared and plated desserts as they are the best canvases for the chefs to showcase their creativity.
The Airy Red Velvet Cake with Maakhan Malai [Rs. 225] is Masala Bar ‘s take on the Millefeuille. Gorgeously plated however a little too tangy for my taste.
The Calorie Tower [Rs. 295], on the other hand, was an absolute sinful Indulgence. Made with profiteroles, chocolate brownie chunks, chocolate and vanilla ice creams, sprinkles and whipped cream, this was quite simply, irresistible and unputdownable. #YumYum #DeliciousDelicious #HighlyRecommended
Masala Bar is a signature outlet for Zorawar Kalra and his Massive Restaurants brand and the passion and flair is seen in every drink and dish served on the table. Just a few days old, Masala Bar already running to packed houses every night is a sure sign of their rising popularity amongst the Pune crowd.
Great attentive service and help choosing the right dishes. The ambience is awesome / mind blowing.
All the dishes wether it’s a starter / main course / desert all were lip smacking dishes.....
Would like to go back anytime !!!!!!!
Superb Food, superb hospitality! Love it
Next time for sure.. cheers
Went for dinner with friends tonight, it was a good experience. Food quality was good, although taste can be little better. Ambience/surrounding is good but feels congested as chairs of 2 tables are so close they will struck each other as you need to get up. Feels cost is little bit much. Misal pav was at 300. Service was very good. Live music did add '4 CHAND' to the dinner, singer was very good. All in all a very good experience. I would recommend the restaurant.
This place is one of the best upscale place for dinning in. We ate the executive lunch there and it was fabulous. The service from staff is very good. The food was also tasty.the ambience is also magnificent. Overall the place is very good. Just one thing I think which needs to be improved is availability of draught and craft beers and also introducing happy hours.
The menu is interesting with several Indian dishes presented in a westernised form- such as Potato nuggets chat with breadsticks. The restaurant has a good ambience - high ceiling, nice decor and some nice mocktails. But it can be noisy and crowded in the weekends. Parking is available and a valet service too. Book in advance if you do not to be disappointed.
The name itself depicts a different concept with an Indian touch.
Well, I wasn't wrong in assuming this.
Situated on the busy Balewadi High Street , this restaurant has established its existence.
What we had :
Appetizers-
* Chini Chinese Bhel - Chinese Bhel served in the most different way - in a half cut bottle. The taste was quite similar to the normal Chinese Bhel that we get , but the after taste was quite spicy.
* Bangkok Salad - Also called the Karari Kakdi salad.
* Lahori Murgh - I personally loved this dish. It was perfect - marination , taste , texture - everything was perfect.
* Kari Patta and Pepper Prawns - This was one unique dish. I have never tried the combination of kari patta with prawns as the sole marination and I must say , I was impressed!
Main Course -
* Nalli Nihari - Slow cooked meat ( mutton) along with the bone marrow. This dish always comes under my comfort food list. It is a must try at Masalabar.
* Carbon Pav Bhaji - This unique concept just blew my mind. The Pav and the Bhaji are slow cooked and during the preparation itself , the carbon is infused. The end result is quite amazing though.
Kuch meetha ho jaaye -
* Airy Red Velvet Cake , Maakhan Malai - Desserts form 80% of my appetite. This one in particular has become my new favourite. The red velvet cake is puffed up and stuffed with malai. What a combination!
* Bailey's Lollipop - When you visit a garden you often come across a beautiful setting of flowers. One such beautiful setting is the Bailey's Lollipop dessert at Masalabar. Soft Chocolate coating filled with Bailey's Irish Cream. This is a shoutout to all the Bailey's lovers out there!
All in all , this place looks really fancy from the outside , but is lighter on the pocket.

Masala Bar on a Saturday night - Thought it would be just another bar where I could have a quiet drink or two. I had reserved a table for 10.30 pm and expected to get a table easily.
But the moment the doors opened, I felt I was entering a nightclub! The atmosphere was electric, the DJ was rocking and people were swinging in their chairs! The place was full of energy and even the side tables were occupied! We had to wait for good 15 minutes to get a table.
The cocktails were nicely done and the food served was masaledaar - doing complete justice to the bars name.
So, a highly recommended place at Balewadi high street if you are looking to spend some rocking time with you friends but don't forget to reserve your table!
The ambience, music, food all great. The vegetarian dishes we tried we better than the non vegetarian. The carbon pav bhaji was nothing different, tastes like the normal pav bhaji only. The fusion restaurant, good for group friendly dinner.
When in Balewadi highstreet, this place is a the place to be, for drinking or for dancing.
The food, the ambience and the music are unmatched.
Best to go on a Saturday night dance party.
The cocktails and the drinks are good. The prices are a little on a higher side but the music makes up for all.
Good to go out with family or friends for a good gala time.
Good place to hang out with friends and for couples.
Great food. We tried the south style chicken and Prawns there. They definitely have a unique style of cooking and the taste is different too.
A pleasent place. Ambience is good. Music not too loud. Staff is pollite and attentive.
Food options are limited and unique.
Tried chicken in starter and mutton in main course. Chicken was well cooked and good in taste. Mutton was ok ok...Quantity is something they can work.
And damage is around 1200- 1500 for two without alcohol....
It was a wonderful evening that we enjoyed at Masala Bar at Balewadi Highstreet. The ambience was great and so was the service. We tried multiple options both in veg and non veg and we need to acknowledge the fact that the efforts put by the team was every penny worth. Special thanks to Chef Malhar for his suggestions to suit of tastes. Over all a wonderful experience and an evening spent well.
Awesome experience.
Must try dishes- totally worth every penny
1.Bhune pyaaz Wala tadoori murgh Tikka
2. FACES OF CHOCOLATE.
Recommended dishes
1.Guntur chilli chicken ( for spicy food lovers)
2. Chaar cheese ka chicken (for cheese lovers)
Let down-
Cajun tortilla chips with salsa beans.
Poor quantity for people who want to eat light to accompany beer/drinks
Great presentation, amazing taste, superb service.
BRILLIANT DESSERT.
I don’t know from where to start with this one. WHAT-A PLACE !!! The Masala Bar comes up with a limited yet great menu with a twist in each dishes. The taste is so mind blowing. Each of you have to try out this new place.
Visited masala bar with a group of friends . We reached around 7 and we were the first customers for that day. I loved the food and the quick service . The service staff was well trained and helped out a lot. As you can see from the pics the food did not disappoint at all. Every dish we ordered was amazing and we ended up reordering the dish again. Must visit place in balewadi high Street . Good food great ambience and a refreshing selection of drinks makes an amazing day
Loved everything about the place, they give you food in old stone style crockery which gave me a Flintstones kinda feeling.
I will definitely visit again until I have tried all items on menu, which is not very long so I guess they will need to keep inventing more dishes in their lab.
The food was really awesome.. means u can not stop yourself eating there.. i ordered cheese kulche, Hara matar ka kabab and desi chowmein masala bar special... And all of these were super perfect.
Such delicious dishes they serves .It was my first visit to masalabar and i am a fan of non-veg food but surprisingly they served the lip smashing chana tempura chaat, potato nuggest”tikki chaat”,cheese fries and murg&mushroom shorba. Thankyou masalabar for such amazingly yummmm food .I will be back soon.

Good ambience, good live music, decent service and a really innovative menu, all the ingredients for good dining experience! Prices are a bit on the higher side, but that is to be expected for a restaurant on balewadi high street. The food quality and fusion menu was particularity good. Definitely recommended! The presentation of the food was good..
the portions were really small.
Reading so many positive reviews decided to give it a try, but the taste was disappointing or may be I just went with high expectations.
Music is good.
Reservation in advance is recommended.
The food is delectable. The cocktails truly a treat. The staff is good. My stars go to the chef and the bartender without who the place would be nothing. Here's a pic of a cocktail ake a starter of what we had!
