Overall rating - 3.5/5

This place holds the most nostalgic value for any Punekar. Bapat Uphar Gruh is a very old restaurant which serves traditional Maharashtrian food and snacks. They have customised options for individuals who hold fasts. Almost everything here is in the must try list but the Thalipeeth is extra ordinary. One would not say that they visited a restaurant here it would be apt to say that they got a chance to grab a bite of Pune flavors and culture here. Located right next to Kelkar museum this is icing on the cake to get in depth of the Puneri culture and hospitality.

This place is interesting for its typical "Puneri Patya". They have all food related patya put up everywhere. The food taste is decent. I like their Bharali vaangi, pithala bhaakari, and their upavaas items. They have upvaas thali which is quiet a handsome combo. Overall a good place to visit.

Puneri Pati Special

You enter in restaurant and Puneri pati will catch your attention. Restaurant was previously managed by typical punekar and so famous for Snacks which are specially prepared in home. Maharashtrian thali is also good.
Now management is different but food quality is okay. Service is okay. Visit to see how old Pune restaurant's were before long back.

I have been visiting Bapat Uphar Gruh
("Bapat") since many years. It is one of the best restaurants to experience maharashtrian or marathi food.

Bapat is tucketed in the bylanes of Bajirao Road (old city area). It has basic indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement. Nothing is fancy be it sitting or ambience.

Coming to food, I personally like everything from their  "Maharashtrian food menu", pav bhaji and Maharashtrian thali. Food here is usually less on oil and spice.

Prices are not high, one can have a complete meal in about RS. 100.

Do try Bapat for some simple, less spicy food affair in the old city area.

Bapat is one of the most lengendary authentic Maharastrian restaurant. Located in a small lane off Bajirao Road. The place serves epic Puran Poli's, Masala Bhat, Matki ussal, Peetla Bhakri to name a few. I have been visiting the place since last 10 years plus and just love their food. Its a must visit place for anyone who loves authentic Maharastrian food.

Do try the Pooran poli combo - comes with Toop wati, Milk Wati and Curry.

This is one of the hidden gem on Pune and one of the old joint in the heart of city.

This place has its own fan foodie followers and which bring them back to this place over and over again.

We tried here the Misal.
This is served in very basic format, no frills attached, with loads of poha and patal poha chiwda covered with crispy farsan and cherry on the top's place is taken over by finely chopped onion. Tarri in a small bowl, which I found very less or rather insufficient for the Misal.
Taste wise it had lot of crunchiness and spiciness.

Overall....

Food: Basic but serves all the fasting dishes and it is famous for its constant taste and quality which has maintained over all these years.

Service: pretty good.

Staff: Polite, clean.

Ambience: Basic sitting arrangement.

Value for money: worth spending if you wish to try their fasting dishes.

Parking: If your lucky then you will find a parking in that lane. Two wheelers should not have any issue.

It's ridiculous that this this legend has no experiences shared here on Zomato hence taking the effort !

Bapat is one of the places that defines Pune food and is heartthrob of locals since years ! Their "fasting" food , pav bhaji , Misal , modaks everything is superb and done "bapat style"... Very economical and wholesome food ..

Your Pune food can't be complete unless you visit this place !

Such a fantastic place . Very willing to cook individually to your taste .Be patient. Your order may take just a bit longer than you expect but that's because your food is being prepared from scratch ...fresh and fabulous. Every dish is willingly prepared in the Jain variations retaining the original taste. A fabulous place after visiting the extremely well maintained kelkar museum. Visit both ...one is food for the stomach and the museum is food for the soul

Located on Raja Dinkar Kelkar museum road, next to the museum. Regular food court with decent looking restaurant and food is also good. Food for those who fast and regular foodies, veg and some of the south indian dishes to try here. Budget friendly place.

This restaurant was known for the best Maharashtriyan food for so many years. However, recently they have added so many new dishes so original dishes are missing out. Puranpoli is their specialty and they are making it quite well. Recommended!

Amzing Misal and great hospitability. Mr. Dave and Aaditya both are so warm and welcoming. Taste is superb. If you are near Alka talkies, Tilak road you should visit this place. The best thing one should not miss is "Shengadana Ladu". Authentic home made, perfect size. This ladoo will take you down memory lane to grandma's home. In all its an amzing place, taste superb and hospitability excellent !!! Thanks for making our year end evening memorable.

Five out of five for taste!! Misal , thalipeeth just wow. Service is quick and good. The only constraint is getting a table here. Quite a busy place. They should expand the set up to accommodate more people.

If you want to eat Pure Maharashtrian Food, you must visit this place. Best thing is they serve fresh cooked food only. Try Bharala Wangi + Bhakari and Mataki Usal, it's just delicious... Misal and other options are also good.. You will see lots of "Puneri Patya" hanged in the restaurant, which will give you feeling that your in Real Pune and Puneri Restaurant...
