For anyone, who is familiar with the camp area in Poona (Pune), they would vouch for the food at Diamond Queen wiz. on one end of East st.
Here's what's on the table
Kheema Fry: Beef Kheema cooked in mainly a ground spiced mixture of coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom & pepper and onions which is later fried in a tempering of slit green chillies, and garnished with potato wedges and a half boiled egg, best with sliced bread or tandoor roti or pav.
Broon Maska: is nothing but a bread that is crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside which is sliced in order to put butter (Amul) and cut in pieces, goes best with chai/tea.
Wonderful place....hustle and bustle of the whole city dwarfed within the four walls, a perfect reflection of the grand old Pune City.

It was a amazing experience and everything out there is yummy. You should definitely try keema and try not to have bun maska, as that was the only thing I which was okay okay.
I only go n get Haleem and it’s awesome regards to Pune style. Can’t compete with Hyderabad style but still far away from home having haleem here is heaven. It’s tasty try it.
This is a lovely place situation at the heart of camp. Bun maskha, broon maskha, sandwiches, khari along with Irani chai is awesome.
The tea is little sweet for my preference, however I like to team it with a little salty broon maskha.

I like the Butter Chicken here, it's very authentic n the Tandoor Rotis are wholesome. Quick service, Ambience is okayish n always crowded.

Very old place in camp. They have a separate area upstairs for family. It isn't a very fancy restaurant but the food is good and the tea is the best of all.
Dalcha khana is their specialty on friday and is a must have.
Try their lamington cake too, its an old style pastry which is delicious.

Very typical Irani kind of restaurant. They got one of the best Irani Tea and the Bun Maska, done with Amul butter is fabulous. The bun is baked in house. Fantastic for a rainy day tea. One can't miss it. Try their Mutton roast. It comes with the leg bones , the meat is so tender that a small pull and it comes off the bones. It has the distinct slight roasted aroma with the spices that one may ask for more. It was surprising to see that nothing is overdone or burnt but the meat was tender. Looks like they are cooked over a long period of time. The spices are ground in house.

Finally we visited this place, after a long wait & planning🙂This intimate and cozy restaurant is a must visit once. This irani resto for a breakfast (eggfast to say) is a must visit place with friends, to gorge on delectable favorite dishes of egg. To start on we ordered Masala omlette and egg bhurji with bread toast. Nicely toasted bread with well prepared kolhapuri egg bhurji (with cheese and little spicy) & masala omlette. The spicy bhurji with garnishing of cheese on top, coriander and red chilly powder but satisfying the taste buds. As usual, no compromise on bun masala omlette for taste. It was tasty and lip smacking. With those delightful dishes of heavy breakfast, we ordered the favorite dish of bun maska with chai and caramel custard. Service was nice, and friendly people and just to add, need little patience as waiting time is 10 mins. for order to arrive.

It pure accident that I came across this place and it was a good accident :) This place is diagonally opposite to Aurora Towers the place I was staying. As self confessed tea addict this place serves amazing chai. This was my go to place for 3 days twice everyday. They not only serve great tea but I equally liked their bun maska & plain cakes. Having tried some amazing Irani chai in HYD, this cannot be compared. They are good in their own right & taste. I wouldn't mind spending quality time here with a cup of chai. Having served for so many years this place still retains that old charm and serves that everyday in a cup piping HOT!!. Try it.
While this place may appear shady, the family room is decent enough. No loud music is a plus when you would like to actually talk to the person in front of you. The food is really nice. The chicken biryani perfect. The non veg food is delicious. The staff is friendly and service is reasonably quick.
A quaint Irani style restaurant right on the main road. The dishes are typical of the style and tone of the restaurant.
The star dish here is the haleem. Made of mutton mince mixed with dal , wheat flour and spices and cooked for 7 to 8 hrs ., this dish is definitely worth a try especially on a gloomy rainy day.

Cafe Diamond Queen needs no introduction to a puneite . An unplanned visit to this famous joint was a superb experience. One of the oldest Irani Cafes in the city, this joint is full of customer round the clock devouring on their delicious food spread.
A quick and a short food review this time.
What we had:
Ramzan Special Mutton Roast: 'Excellent' is the only word I could think of. The gravy has a perfect thick consistency, mildly spiced in their very own spice mix. The meat is very tender, very pink and the flesh comes off the bone just like that. Need not struggle.

Haleem:This preparation requires a lot of patience, care, and affection. It consists of Minced Meat, Wheat, Lentils, and Spices. Slow cooked for 7 to 8 hours, blending all the spice flavors together, forms a paste like consistency. Very mild in taste and garnished with Mint leaves. A very nice preparation.
Kheema:
A perfect balance of minced meat and spice mix, this is a drool worthy dish. A must have at Cafe Diamond Queen.
Sunday Brunch was a total VFM (Value for Money). And to conclude, we had a cup of Irani Chai. Quick and prompt service are plus points for sure. Thumbs Up...!!!

Diamond queen starts early around 5.30 am in the morning, it is famous for its Keema chilli fry , chicken mayo sandwiches, tea, bun maska, broon maska, khari and many more. The best thing about this cafe is that they have maintained their taste and quality for the last 40 years

Half Mutton Biryani - biryani not the best but one of the good
Mutton Seekh Kebab - 4 pieces but the kebabs were not juicy they are soft and tender not like bade miyan in colaba, feels dry in taste ..... you can skip it completely.
Mutton Crumb Chops - they are mutton crumb but not chops ..... while i was getting a feel of mutton pattice dipped in egg batter for crispiness. Dish is good for a change but its not mutton chop !!!

Diamond Queen is one of the oldest Irani cafe in Pune. Built in the early 20s, they have this antique rustic ambience to it. For years, they have been serving the most delicious mutton kheema pav in town. Right from the soft bread to the minced mutton masala, the dish is so savoury, you just can't have enough.😋
Apart from this, their other meaty dishes such as their chello kebabs and tandoori mutton chops have just the most distinct tastes and spices.
Diamond Queen is always crowded with people of all ages, mostly there to hang out, catch up on each other's lives over a cup of masala chai and the signature bombay khari.

Brilliant Is the only word I would use to describe this place. It's been running since 1920 approximately. I'm in love with their mutton biryani and the mutton grill that they have to offer. Apart from that, their food is always fresh and you cannot resist finishing a whole biryani all by yourself.

Afternoon Delight at Café Diamond Queen
So 2 friends and I decided to head for a hearty lunch today. We were craving meat, mostly. The more we discussed where to go, the more confused we got. So finally we just decided to keep it simple and head to Diamond Queen.
The place isn’t grand as far as the ambience goes. It’s pretty straightforward, basic and functional like what you would expect from a cafe of this kind. We ordered for a Beef Kheema, Butter Chicken, Mutton Crumb Chop and Butter Rotis.
The Butter Chicken was quite good, with grated egg on the top. The spice levels were very well balanced.
I was a bit apprehensive before ordering the Mutton Crumb Chops. I’m not a big fan of deep fried stuff, plus I was worried that the fried Mutton would turn out to be hard and chewy. To my sheer delight, these were the juiciest bite-sized pieces of mutton I could imagine. Dipped in egg and deep fried, these chops were fabulous. The meat was so tender and flavourful. And the quantity of one portion was more than enough for 3 full-grown, hungry men. Clap clap!
But the star of the afternoon was the Beef Kheema, hands down! So delicately spiced, it was cooking for a very sophisticated palate. I was expecting a bombastic choice of masalas and spices, but this was very sublime. You could taste the meat beautifully, something most restaurants kill with too much flavour. My heart and my brain were completely at peace after having such a satisfying meal.
We ended it with a caramel custard, which was decent.
Bottomline, if you’re in Pune and haven’t been to Cafe Diamond Queen yet, you’re surely missing something terrific.
PS - Mondays and Fridays they serve Mutton Haleem. 😍
After having a light breakfast.. I was on my way to camp.. And this place came in front of me 🙈🙈.. अब क्या करे.. जाऊ या ना जाऊ..y favourite place... दुविधा मनास्थिति... Best option was toss a coin... Heads I go and eat. Now it's not my mistake the coin had both heads and tales on on side.
Kheema Masala, what an amazing delicious delight. Then I had to order the tea and Roat, that's a must.. I think I must go home straight before such places bump into me 🙈🙈🙈

As soon as Shravan ends , our brain,mind,heart,soul everything started craving for something which is very very special. On 21st Shravan ended and there was some idle time until Ganesh Chaturthi..
It was continuous 29 days since I had non veg so appetite started burning which drags me into place called "Cafe diamond queen" located in camp area.
This place is super awesome when it comes to Irani food...after Vohuman or Goodluck , diamond queen is the second most favourite place as far as food quality,taste, authenticity is concerned.
Let's talk the business now. We jumped into the cafe around 8 in the morning.Our intension was to grab everything :-)
We ordered,
1. Bun omelette - very traditional Iranian style bun omelette served with thick sauce and ample of butter. 100/100 , no other remarks
2. Egg bhurji pav - Bhurji was very authentic and proper flavour of spices uniformly spread over it..yummy !!
3. Half fry - perfectly dipped with yolk and light black paper spread on top of it
4. Kheema pav - This was cherry on the cake to be honest. It comes in 2 variants. Beef and mutton. Of course we had mutton kheema as second option was invalid for us :-)
Mutton pieces were chopped so tiny and mixed into the spices awesomely. Kheema was on spicier side...

5. Diamond queen special cake🍰- Extremely soft and coconut flavoured cake just made our day. Super delicious that's it.
6. Caramel custard - Again 💯 , perfect desert to have after heavy food
7. kulfi - Taste was very similar to Parsi dairy kulfi which used to get served in Deccan Queen ages back.Kulfi got disappeared within few mins hence we ordered one more and same thing repeats again :-)
8. Brun maska and Irani chai - without having this ,if you even try to step out of any Iranian cafe,then its a crime :-)
Perfectly toasted Brun with butter tastes mouthwatering when dipped in tea..
This place also has family room upstairs so if you are going with family ,you can grab the seat very easily.Ground floor similar to cafe Goodluck.

This place is the mother of gossip mongering men, all about their bets & risks in life and how they made a hay day. This is constantly fuelled by a bunch of spontaneous waiters delivering the most quintessential tea and the works around it.
Whether it’s 6am or whatever time of the day, walk in to CDQ and feel redeemed. Your sins are now forgiven, go in peace !

Few restaurant have legacy to serve & maintain food quality.. Diamond Queen is awesome place which provide multiple menus.. Everyone who loves non veg, must try Mutton Kheema.. Classic taste, perfect spicy & goes really well with bread.. Must try option in camp..
a little hole in the wall with great food. breakfast, lunch & dinner... never been a meal that I have not enjoyed. quick service, and if you want a little space, you can walk up to the space on top.
bun maska, brune maska, keema pav, mutton chops, kolhapuri dishes.. have enjoyed them every time I've had them.
Mutton cravings mean I'm heading to Diamond Queen.
The mutton crumb chops is such a unique dish, still to eat something like this elsewhere.
Mutton roast masala is another delight.
All in all a budget restaurant for some good food.

Poore pune ka toh nahi pata.. but yes.. tea was good. The very first sip took me to Hyderabad where I had first tasted the Irani Chaai. The best part was the poster saying not to play with mobile phone and occupy the seats unnecessarily!
Its has been my goto place during the weekends. Love the irani chai and bun maska. Do try the malai and chicken sandwich too. Its a bit crowded but has the feel of the old coffee cafes.
Love the mutton roast here, been having this dish since years. Also the caramel custard is amazing here. The rates are also not prohibitive compared to other places. I just love this place.
I don't need to introduce this place to people from Pune. This is one of the oldest place in camp area. I was a regular customer for breakfast, having kheema slice, bhurji, omlette paratha with my friends.
Today I tried Mutton cromp Chilli chop fry. I have added photo of that, it's a good dish but I found it too oily. As I don't like too much oily food. I had earlier had biryani also it was good.
The reason why most of the people visit this place is due to this - Their tea taste has been same for decades, have it along with khari, bun maska, mawa cake......... Even I visit for these tasty items ☺

Another Irani cafe right next to Silver Jubilee that has their dedicated customers who don't mind in sharing their tables with a stranger...A no-nonsense place with primitive low light ambiance typical to an old cafe with some awesome menu that grips a newcomer and makes him a loyal customer. Tried their Kheema, Egg Bhurji, Chapati along with Bun Butter and Chai. Average pricing and prompt service and a tasty menu make this a place a must visit!
Today i had been to the cafe diamond queen ordered for a mutton biryani and mutton crump chops and just for the sake of making a conversation i told him bhai thoda accha banana.. he smiled at me and when i came home and opened the pack i was WOW bhai ne achha nahin bahut accha banaya hai.... the best mutton chops and the pieces in the normal mutton biryani were almost boneless... it was an amazing experience... thank you guys 😀😀😀

I like their mutton crumb chops. They are very good. But you have to ask them to make it fresh or sometimes they serve reheated.
An restaurant keeping it's old charm and taste. Ordered mutton crumb chops and tandoori chicken. The tandoori was simply cut into 4 big portions rather than 8 . Mutton crumb chops were delicious. In some restaurants mutton may refer to beef. So does at diamond queen. But nice test. Must visit

So this place is one of my older hangouts and a favourite. It's a simple, no nonsense in decor place which is very irani cafe like. There are boards all around telling you what the specials are. Every time we come here, we have the exact same meal and I recommend it highly. We get kolhapuri mutton crumb fry with chappati first. The mutton is a lot in quantity and the masala is spicy. Then we have the chelo murg, which they warn you takes about 15 mins to bring to the table, but it's worth the wait. The rice comes with a dollop of butter on it and the chicken is just beautifully cooked. We end our meal with caramel custard which is quite consistent and yummy. They also have haleem on some days but it's pretty popular and disappears soon, so you can try to call in early and pick it up. It's pretty different from haleem which I've had in Hyderabad (which I'm guessing is more authentic) , but still quite yummy. The prices have gone up recently but it's still quite well priced for what they give. I recommend this place for the food and quick service. It's not a fancy place, but foodies, if you haven't been here yet, go....now. These are the places are part of Pune's food history. Let's keep them alive!

Well, Pune camp does have these wonderful eating joints which have kept their places in a steadfast manner over the decades and it is one of the reasons as to why I would love to settle down there.

I had been here at very early morning (at 5 AM) had delicious mutton kheema with bun and this turned out to be the best kheema I have ever had in Pune. Many of my friends suggested to go for tea, but I didn't like it. It was too sugary

Ordered butter chicken and roti. It was delicious and wholesome. Loved it. But I loved the tea at this place. It was awesome. Even the desserts were very good.

This place is laden with history. There is that perhaps century old cafe downstairs. It has a proper British feel to it. On the first floor, they got a new family restaurant. I came here especially for the mutton paya, the legendary mutton leg broth. It was awesome. We had it with roti and mutton biriyani. Half portion was more than enough for one person. Brilliant food. The biriyani is of Iranian origin with a Maharashtran twist. If u plan to experience pune at it's best, this is the place to go.

Planned to visit Cafe Diamond Queen as one of the friends was always chit chatting about Special Bun-Maska & Tea here.
Been here on lazy Sunday morning, Place was bit crowded but we managed to get table easily.
Ordered Bun-Maska & Tea but sadly Bun-Maska was not available :-(
We ordered egg omelet with bread & Tea.
Omelet was little crispy & much tasty with tomato sauce.
Tea tasted very well which remembered me my childhood days in Cafe Goodluck.
We were waiting for some friends to join us & fortunately by that time Bun-Maska was ready again in the cafe to serve us :-)
We ordered Bun-Maska along with some Khari, Mawa Cakes & Cream Cakes.
Bun-Maska here was unique in taste....not so sweet but awesome. I also loved Mawa Cake & Khari which i think was purchased from Kayani ;-)
Cafe Diamond Queen remembered me my childhood days where i used visit old cafe's like Cafe Goodluck, Vohuman Cafe with my grandfather after the Sunday cricket matches.
The taste here is still classic & pure like it's customers.
The way cafe diamond queen is still maintained in it's classic styled old building adds some magic in your food to enjoy it's classic way.

On a lazy Sunday you decide to have brunch by skipping breakfast. Moreover you need some local flavour to pamper your taste buds. That's how I came across cafe diamond queen. Half fry, keema & pav and chai was on platter.. The taste was superb for kheema pav. Located in camp area, this cafe has many loyalist foodies who throng the once a while. Surely after my visit, I will be there many times more. Pricing is very decent & service is quick.. Worth going for those who like trying different options

One of the oldest restaurants in Pune, Diamond Queen has been serving amazing food since 1930. Its one of my dad's favourite restaurant and so we've been going here since childhood. We went there for a nice family lunch today and felt ever so nostalgic. We ordered the Chicken Fry and Mutton Crumbs Chop Chilly for starters both of which were delicious. For mains, we had the Chicken Masala and Dal Fry. Their Dal Fry is just amazinggg. Try Parathas here instead of Tandoori Roti, they're like no other. We had delicious Mutton Biryaani and finished the meal with Malai Kulfi. What a lunch!

Mutton biryani was awesome so was the mutton roast.
Mutton roast actually was DIVINE!

I love this place and it's my all time fav for crumb chop chili fry and anybody who goes there should try this dish as its superb and yum and I can eat it all days all the time. Also the NaN here is the best in Pune for me. You can try the other dishes of chicken biryani and mutton masala which are also very nice. The service time is very quick and a clean place to eat and don't forget to order thumbs up as it completes the food and the caramel custard.
The points are solely or the taste here. The staff is pathetic, and service is beyond worthless.
I've never had a full meal here. This place, to me, is where I used to hangout with friends over bun-maska and countless cups of tea. Some swear by the kheema-pav here, but I don't eat red meat, so I wouldn't know.
These days, the staff has become too pricey and they want to shoo customers away even when half the tables are empty.
I may not visit here again unless it's the only option.

Soft fresh pavs with generous butter tastes yum! Topping it with an omelette or Keema one notch extra taste.
Rinsing it in hot hot Irani chai tastes two notches up!!
'You can't stop with one', so much so with the bun maska and chai. Very rarely one stops with the first!!
Thronging with people, noisy place. The ground floor is for any but the first floor is exclusively for families or couples except in rare occasions.
Just one server for the entire floor makes it a little challenging when it comes to serving.
Atmosphere can be claustrophobic as a single cramped window is the saviour.
Looking for some great food and not too heavy on the pockets then this place is good, while there is George or Blue Nile, this place holds it own when it comes to food.

I frequently visit here for their world class coffee. You cannot get this kind of coffee anywhere.
Khari is also good along with cakes.
Non veg items are also good.

Another gem of Camp! Known for its bun maska, brun maska and Irani chai, Cafe diamond is a legend. Mostly flocked by regular patrons who have been coming here for many many years, this place has those old time vibes. You should visit Cafe Diamond Queen with family for a nice breakfast as they do have a seperate section. There are many things you can try here like their super buttery and crispy khari and chai, bheja masala, mutton dalcha on selected days (fridays), special Keema masala, simple keema fry, mutton crum chops, their sepcial chicken fry and mutton paya. Cafe Diamond Queen has a big list of items in their menu.
Over all a must try place if you are in camp.
Tried masala omelette along with bun maska and tea. Taste was good. Rates are reasonable. Tea is worth a try here. Online payment is only applicable above 150₹.

Such perfect breakfast we all had at this place after our run and activities.
If u you are fan of kheema and mutton dishes then this place heaven for all.
My team mate tried there chicken kheema,lover fry ,mutton kheema as breakfast and trust me guys they all were so satisfying and end up having over .
So well cooked each dishes .
We also tried there sandwich which was delicious and yumm.
Must visit place for every one who love kheema dishes.
We are 12 people all together and paid around 3000 for such amazing breakfast and ended with chai and coffe .
Location is good. Generally it is crowded so getting a place to sit can be challenging.
Serve good non veg food, even snacks are good. One can try their irani tea.
They have family seating arrangements on the first floor.
One detriment is that the place get very noisy as most set of people who come here engage in loud discussions. So eating peacefully is not possible.
Service is good for eating in and also for parcel.
Diamond Queen is a heartbeat for few of the old Puneites. A place to have a soothing chit-chat with friends over a hot cup of tea.
Since I was born I have been seeing this place over here. It should have been there even long before I was born I guess as it is there since 1930. Way before India got independence. I have been regular to this place since last 10 years and during these 10 years it has changed a bit in look, but the feel remains the same.
These guys as known are good at non veg dishes. But I haven’t gone beyond Egg Biryani here. And it tastes good. But more frequent trips here are for tea and if we get time and place then we order the ‘khari’.
These guys don’t believe in digital payments, so no Bhim no Google Pay and no Paytm. You can pay by cards but you need a bill of over ₹300 to do so. Rest all is done by hard cash.
The chai is to die for. You should try it once before you die.
Food is overall good, but rates are on the higher side, service is good . I had been with my family for lunch, there wasn't much rush so the cleaning boys were gathered in a group and chatting while looking directly at our faces which was quite uncomfortable and unpleasant.
Chicken sandwich tasted sweet, with sugar crystals in every bite.. Veg dalcha khana costed Rs300/ which is expensive.
