Located in the heart of the city, owned by Lalan Sarang (if am not wrong), the place is heaven for sea food lovers. Visited the place on a weekday with friends.
Had ordered Surmai thali, having Surmai rava fry, prawns gravy and bangda gravy. Solkadhi vati was included in thali which is a must have in these summer days.
Fish was fresh and delicious...not much spicy.
Ambience is good, nothing exclusive as such. Staff is friendly and provides suggestion on request. Seating capacity is limited.
Overall this place is good for people who prefer quality of food over ambience.
One of the best restaurants for sea food dishes.. Tried Rawas thali & fish thali.. It was osum.. Must try!!! Prawns garlic was also one of the top dishes..

लालन सारंग (Lalan Sarang) Famous Marathi actress and Culinary expert started MaseMari (which means 'Fishing') in 2010 with few her own recipes on menu + Malvani, Goan, Mangalorean Specialties.
I have been visiting them for Crab and some unique fish curries.
Last weekend visited to try out their Thali Festival which is till 3rd Feb.

- Bombay style Prawns Masala: Spicy with distinct flavors 😍- Solkadhi : excellent- Bombil Fry & Surmai Fry : too were done well.
- Crab : was huge is size but Masala was less spicy for my liking, on my feedback they replaced with better one.
I heard news about owner passed away sometime back in this November, but nothing has changed : management, taste or service everything was upto mark.
Overall : Thali may look bit pricey but if you check quantity of seafood they serve in thali it's worth shot..!!!

It turned out to be one of those Hindu calendar days where Puneri Jaanta gives up meat - that made me just so very happy🤣 ! We were one of the very few guests having dinner at masemari, and we got royally treated!
So Pune ain’t that far from coast and we have plenty of places to ‘fish’ from , if you are a seafood lover. So what makes this place shine? Bombil Rava Fry 🙂 Chef has figured out to excel the art of frying the delicate Bombay Duck In simple spices and Rava to create crisp and delicious appetizer. HOG 😁. Bombil apart, it is located at the heart of Pune and has family style sitting and ambience and no seafood smell floating around 😼( for those who mind it). Hygiene factor is high and waiters are well trained - pricing is on higher end.
Piping hot Rice bhakri and bajra Bhakri and delicious seafood in Malvani, Goan or kelwan curry! Plenty of veg, eggs and chicken options for those who are not ‘fishy’. For everyone else - crab, sqid, surmai, pomfret, bombil, shrimp... they have it all fresh from the kitchen and ready to be ‘fished’🎣! .

Fish lover? A must visit joint. Starting with a drink named as tival, you should plan to eat all your favorite fish variety and end with solkadhi. I had vegetarian food here and that was also good. The parking may be an issue so plan accordingly.
A great sea food restaurant nearby Swargate. The food is light and well prepared. Had bombay duck and butter garlic prawns. Also had deep fried ravas. For main course we ordered surmai curry in Goan style with rice!

Whenever we are in Pune we make it point to visit Masemari at Tilak Road. This time when we were there we were surprised to see the newly renovated ambience. The entrance of the restaurant is made with lofty wooden door resembling the rajwada door with nice bright lighting. Live tandoor counters once you enter where in the chef helps you to choose tandoor delicacies. When you enter one can feel that's it's the right place for a family. The newly renovated place looked great with their unmatched food and service. One of the best places to have delectable seafood and some newly introduced tandoor dishes.

Nice place. Family friendly. They can use some good music though, it’s very quiet in there. Clams starters were great. My family had fun extracting the crab meat from the shell. Overall taste of the food was very good. Would like to dine here again.

If u have a strong fish craving this is the place to be. The ambience is decent but their taste is impeccable. We tried their surmai and ravas fry and both of them were marinated and fried perfectly. The best part was that it was not too oily. For main course we tried their ravas "ambat tikhat" and they really take that name literally. But they have balanced the taste of spicy and sour very well and goes great with rice. One more good thing is that they provide an option of half rice so if there are only 2 of you then it will be sufficient.

Have been to this place many times vit family as well as friends.. Ambience is great..the name itself suggest sea food speciality and it lives upto it..i have tried varoius dishes and would recommend surmai masala, prawns fry , and solkadhi..the chicken bombay masala is worth trying..wil give it a five star ratings.. definitely its not in pocket friendly type of restaurants but the money spent is worth...try this hotel on weekdays as i find rush on weekends..

The Most Visit outlet in Sadashiv Peth.. I like Tisrya fish,Squid and many other varieties of Konkani Fish... I visited here 3-4 times. Soon I am planning to visit this place again. Its interior is classy and the staff is polite and prompt. And last but not least this place is cost effective. Just once I wish to meet Smt. Lalan Sarangaji the veteran Marathi Actor and the owner of the Restaurant .

A typical Seafood restuarant, with good ambience and decor. They do serve good fish varieties, I order Surmai fry and curry of Pomfret with steam rice and Rice Bhakri. The food was good, and the portions were fine. Overall a fine experience no WOW factor.
Delicious is an understatement. Superb place and awesome food. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and therefore advise the customers well on what to order. This is very helpful for seafood rookies. Loved it and will definitely visit more often

After a long wait, i finally got the company to visit this place and the only thing i can say is SUPERB AND DELICIOUS!!
I am rookie at seafood and this place told me the standard of seafood one should have. All the dishes were absolutely delicious.
We tried Rava Surmai Fry, Tandoori Pamphlet, Surmai Goan Curry and Prawns curry.

A review that was long due! I have been to this place numerous times. A paradise for seafood lovers! They serve authentic Indian seafood - Goan and Konkani prominently. On arrival, they serve a welcome drink - tival (made from kokum), a perfect amalgamation of sweet, sour and spicy! Hospitality - 10/10. Butter Garlic Prawns, Prawns Tikhale, Surmai Ambat Tikhat, Pomfret Tawa here are a must try. Also, butter garlic oysters and calamari are good.
Good ambience with a fairly decent service. Located in a secluded corner, making it difficult for Car parking.
Loved the seafood that was served. Ordered Masala Clams with Garlic tadka alongside Jawar and Tandool Bhakri. The spiciness of the thick gravy was eye watering, and tasty.
Tasted Rava Fry of the Boneless Indian Salmon aka Ravas. Tangy and properly cooked.
Also tried the Ravas Mangalorean curry. Lived upto our expectations.
Kokam Sarbat at the end was very nice and much needed after the spicy journey.
A complimentary drink, Sol Kadi, was also served in the beginning.
Our verdict - its worth the discomfort of parking spaces.
If u love sea food head to this place. The food is very good, although not exceptional. All the fish that we tried, surmai, ravas and prawns were fresh and tasty. But, again, nothing was a standout. Will I recommend this place? Yes. But, Nisarga is better as far as taste and ambience is concerned.
If you want the authentic Malavani fish taste, this is the place for you. Fried Bombay Duck & Crab Masala here is to kill for! Though I feel it's slightly more expensive than it should be...but the taste makes you forget that!

A superb restaurant for seafood Cravers. I've had prawns, fish and crabs here, everything was on point, especially the crabs, nicely cooked and neatly cut. The ambience is pretty good, and the staff is helpful. Also try the seafood soup, it is classy. Just that they should start serving lobsters, the only thing I miss out on everytime.

A simple restaurant that calls attention to itself through a huge crab type structure at its entrance... the ambience is understated ensuring attention on the food rather than the frills.
We ordered their Surmai tava fry (4/5, the serving portion was good, 3 thick slices of a very fresh catch, perfectly tava fried, masala was spicy and yummm but lost out as the masala was undercooked) (nite this was not rava fry which is deep fried and didn't look as tempting at a neighbouring table).
Then we had the prawn sukkha which was also very tasty (4/5), the Ravas in maratha masala (3/5, fish was good but gravy was a bit bland. I may be prejudiced as the other 2 dishes had a powerful flavor), solkadhi ofcourse.
The food is tasty but a little too spicy. The clams sukkha was great but again spicy. So was the rawas masala. Love the tiwal, that is the welcome drink served at the start.

Since long time I wanted to taste sea food at Masemari as I had heard quiet a lot about this restaurant and also my taste buds desperately wanted sea food so I thought to give it a try and experience Masemari.
And My taste buds were satisfied 😊
Starters:-
Prawns butter garlic- good taste and nicely cooked. Squid koliwada- crispy n nice. Didn't try Clams, but one should go for it. Baby Surmai fry (starter) and curry (main course malvani style)- Recommended... the fish was fried nicely and the fish in curry too tasted good.
Ask for Baby Surmai fish. Good number of fried fish pieces for 4 people. Rs. 100/- extra charged if asked for curry too from the same fish. Same amount of fish pieces in curry too, hence seemed value for money.
Main course :-
Gavran chicken curry- good. Kombdi wada- good... But tasted a lil different than the ones that I had experienced at few coastal areas. Tandool bhakri- soft and good enough size for a person to have atleast 1. Solkadi- awesome
Overall food rating 4 out of 5 (good quantity and quality). Ambiance is pleasant. Staff has good information about the food served. Suggesting the restaurant to start crab festival soon.

I have tried almost all of their curries and starters. They are good. Only concern is the fish smell that disturbs you a lot while having food . They really need to work on it.

There are very few places in Pune,where u can get 'real' fish experience..Masemari is one of them... ambience,service,cleanliness,food quality everything is good.. atmosphere is also refreshing... one of the must visit place for fish lovers....

Masemari - the fishing place, another sea food special hotel in Pune. This hotel has started few years back, the place has real zing, great ambience and good variety of food.
Currently when I visited recently it's losing its touch, the food taste has declined. I love the coconut chutney served here and solkadhi.
Butter garlic prawns and bombil fry are best dishes here.

The ambience at Masemari is quite decent, the restaurant is clean and has a nice modern feel to it. A thing did which did not agree with me was the fact that their receiving area was right in front of the guest entrance where when I visited fresh supplies were being brought in.
Complimentary welcome Kokum Sarbat is provided to each guest and sets the tone for a delightful meal. We ordered Solkadi, Prawn Koliwada, Mackerel Goan Curry, Clam Masal and Tandul Bhakari.
Alright, Solkadi was refreshing quite well prepared, Prawn Koliwada brilliant crisp on the outside and beautifully cooked on the inside, for me the Clam Masala was the highlight, the masala was spicy however it went extremely well with the thin Rice Bhakari which I loved. Mackerel curry was a little disappointing and lacked seasoning. Overall the food was great and the experience enjoyable.
Definitely recommend this gem of a place to all sea food lovers.
Whenever we are visiting Pune, a visit to Masemari is a must. The ambiance is simple nothing much to write about. Service is super good ; very pleasant staff. The sea food here is outstanding - simple, honest flavours. The ravas fry is a must try. Crispy on the outside and so soft in the center.
My daughter loves the Amboli here. While we polish off most of the dishes with Bhakri (Tandul). My absolute favorite is the goan prawn curry with rice. Yum. Takes me back to Goa...

Had come here with my cousin once as I had this dangerous seafood craving, and this place happened to be nearby. Since it was only the two of us, couldn't try many dishes, but had their rawas fry which was nice and succulent, powerful flavours and the fish quality was great!

I visited this place yesterday with one of my friend. We ordered for black pomfret in 2 preparations rawa and tawa, squid butter garlic crispy and goan rawas curry with amboli. The fish was good, squid great, curry not that good. But overall the food was good.

Interesting place.The bombil fry was good.The butter garlic prawns were not up to the mark.The pomfret mumbai masala and boneless crab were excellent,highly recommended these two dishes.The mutton kolhapuri was average.The food is spicy and tasty.But I think the rates are on the higher side.Overall a good place to try out.
Best Seafood I had in recent years! Combining all the Mahesh's, Apoorvas, JaiHinds, suck before this! I had seen the owners interview on TV and she had mentioned that all the masalas are made by her in her own style, and I think that's what makes this place different from others! Another best thing about this place is that, it offers only Goan/Konkani/Malwani/Maharashtrian and no Mughlai or Chinese! So, we ordered Prawns masala with garlic tadaka, which was little bit spicy but great in taste. For starters we had Pomfret Ultapulta, which was tangy and spicy and the best part was the price! it was for Rs. 500/- only, which was very cheap compare to the above mentioned restaurants and it had lot of flesh! We ordered Gavran Chicken, which was again spicy but rich in taste! It was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely visit again!

The name itself suggests all about the cuisine. Restaurant is located centrally which is its one of the USP. Great marathi actress Lalan sarang started this place. Ambience is average. Food variety is good.
I will talk about seafood first, The only place in Pune (according to my very little knowledge) where one can get only steamed pomfret with no masala, just a tinch of turmeric, salt and the awesome taste of Pomfret. Surmai masala with garlic tadaka, Goan pomfret or halwa curry with Amboli are must try dishes. Clams are very tasty and full of spices.
The place is good for chicken, mutton and eggs also. I usually prefer Maratha chicken curry and Mutton sukka.
Overall value for money, must visit place for non veg lovers. This place can be compared with Nisarga, Mahesh lunch home and Gajali, still defiantly one will enjoy Masemari's unique and authentic taste.

This place is great for authentic 'Konkani' and/or Goan seafood lovers..although you cannot expect a 100% authentic experience. The only aspect which may be argued is the service. I had to take a parcel once and I had ordered a few dishes with a beverage. The bag was full of different packed dishes so I just asked the waiter, is my beverage in it and he replied in the affirmative and once I got home it was not there ! This is the only 'not so good' aspect. Otherwise a must visit place !

Celebrated my Mom's bday here today. Authentic Konkani seafood. We had Fried Bombil (Bombay Duck) and Fried Pomfret for starter. Both were fresh and perfectly cooked. We had Mutton Wade which were really good. For Main we had Pomfret Goan Curry which was nice. We ordered a Prawns curry but the prawns were not fresh. And the curry was not that good.

The good thing is the food. Feels like you're eating in a coastal city. The fish is fresh. No 'fish smell' at all. The gravies were very nice. Typical maharashtrian gravy. The chef knows how to cook seafood. The clams were perfect. Order the clams with amboli. The clams were a little spicy but that's what made it amazing. Cooked perfectly and in the best gravy. Do not order the chicken because it isn't as good as the seafood here. The ambience was not so good. The AC was not working so I was kinda disappointed. Otherwise, up vote.
Been here with a special person and the food was just awesome. They food quality cooked in olive oil is another attraction. The ambience of the hotel is also awesome! Service top class!!

This is perfect place for fish lovers. One must visit this place if you are truly fish lover. I visited this hotel many times and every time my experience was just wow... mouth watering starters ,tasty food, nice dish decoration and good ambience..
We ordered prawns ultapulta and surmai rava tawa in starters.. prawns ultapulta is a dish with blackish masala which is not so spicy but very tasty.prawns were well cooked. Surami rava tava is dish with two surmai pieces one is rava deep fry and other is with red masala shallow fry. Great combination I ever had. In main course we had chicken mumbai masala , kombdi wade and tandul bhakari. Solkadhi was superb.
They serve kokam sarbat as a welcome drink which was perfectly made. Jeera Tadka was given to it and this tadka was giving nice aroma to the kokan sarbat.
You have many options in starters and main course. If anybody don't want to eat fish for them variety of chicken dishesh are also available.

After much deliberation with a friend about good sea food places in Pune, finally visited this place last night, and I am thoroughly satisfied.
Very good place to try a wide variety of sea food.
They have a good menu encompassing many traditional and specific curries and dishes with different kinds of fish.
Tried the crab shorba, (there are only two soup options), thick and spicy soup with crab meat. Aptly spicy and very good and appetizing..!
Crab Maratha sukka for the starter was a good choice. I think it was two large crab boiled and served with thick masala. Nice dish taste wise and also to spend some time on (if you have some time to kill).
The Goan curry with the Indian boneless Bloch was tasty, gentle on spices and is a good representation of the Goan cuisine.
One disappointing thing was the rice. We ordered Jeera rice and the waiter said one would be enough after all the things we had eaten. But the the rice quality was not great, neither was the quantity and we had to order one more..!
Sol Kadhi was good.
Ambiance is nice. Not much waiting time after placing the order. Prompt service.

Surmai thali: big (palm size) surmai fry piece, surmai curry with medium size surmai piece (no head, tail), separate bowl for fish curry (no piece) but this was different in taste than surmai curry. Fish was shallow fry. Rice is perfect; every grain is separate which is must to eat rice with fish curry. Solkadhi and tiwal (futi kadhi) was good too.
Tisrya thali: Tisrya masala was spicy and yummy. Lot of clams in it. They served bombay duck (bombil fry) with it. 4 pieces deep fried. Rest items were same as surmai thali.
Crab boneless masala : best dish on table. Bit spicy but taste was heavenly, mouth watering.
No 2 dishes, currys tasted same. Looks like for every type of fish they use different spices.
Ambience was okay. Service was excellent. Prices are bit on higher side. Quantity and quality is awesome. Seafood lovers in pune must try it once.

Variety of fish available. A thorough fish enthusiast can understand the taste. There are dishes specific to regions( eg: malvan, kalvan, Goan etc,). The fish was well cooked and gently served. Ambience is descent and fine.
Delicious food, fresh fish, quick and courteous service. My wife and I went on a Sunday afternoon - we had heard good recommendations of the place and decided to treat ourselves to a Maharashtrian fish cuisine. The bombil (Bombay duck) fry and Surmai (King fish) fry were particularly delicious. Tisrya (Clams) masala - although the Clams were fresh, the masala tasted just like any decently tasty onion-and-garlic thick gravy. We would've rather tried the curry which we had originally requested for but were recommended to have the masala instead, which we did - no regrets though. Overall a good experience. Do visit!

Non veg is good. However the name is changed or something. Lasttime I visited there was a different outlet here. Don't know if they're the same.
