This review is more inclined towards the emotions attached to this particular dish and how delectable it can get!
We being fans of #ButterChicken were longing to have it from Sarovar! This was my maiden take on Butter Chicken from here and it was totally worth the long wait! Rather I regret not having it before!

To start with , the foremost thing that caught my attention was it's deep red color and shredded chicken that was used. The gravy was thick/thin( read it of right consistency ) enough to eat it with roti as well as rice. It was rich in flavours, extremely delicious and too difficult to resist š¤¤
I'm sure it will taste even more heavenly after a round of beer!

I truly believe this is a must visit place specially for bachelors (incld. Forced š) and those who are willing to admire the experience rather than just the ambience. The speciality dish is butter chicken but this time we ordered something new to try and it was chicken Kholapuri. The dish was spicy as the name suggests and honestly too oily but if you want something to wake up your tastes buds then just go for it. I was not planning to post this so didnāt took the picture of the serving so please excuse me.
Otherwise the place is vibrant, noisy but comfortable.
It was a good experience for us .But I had got food after long time.. But food taste was good .service boy was well behaved.we really liked there food and behaved..
Good open place in Pune, decent food, okayish ambiance, slow service. A visit with your friends will definitely gonna make you feel great but it's coz of the environment around and not the place in itself.

Great restaurant for north indian dishes. Tandoor items are a must try. Best Butter Chicken in Pune served here in Sarovar. Fast service, great food quality, awesome quantity. everything upto the mark. Vegetarian dishes are also a must try, especially veg starters.
Hola! I am coming to this place since past 20 years, and the best dish I can recommend is BUTTER CHICKEN and RESHAMI CHICKEN !! I love it and I have not yet experienced any better taste in other restaurants. So guys if you come here do order butter chicken. The quantity is superb and so is the quality.
One of the oldest and mid profile restaurants. Located in the heart of the city and very reasonably priced . The food is good and outdoor usually crowded. Itās regulates kinda place . Not very fancy but you can enjoy a beer with conversations. Service is nice. The place is quite comfortable. Totally recommended.

Sarovar is located in the heart of the city ie Deccan Gymkhana.
Itās an extremely busy road yet people love to go to this place.

Best restaurant. Service is good. Food was too good. We tried Fried rice and khandeshi chicken both are too tasty. Rates are also reasonable. Family restaurant. Recommended to visit.
The best butter chicken in town. Period.That is why people come here. Other dishes are equally delicious. There is an AC section for non-smokers, and the traffic noise is cancelled out, even though the restaurant is located on the main road.Beer and liquor is available too, so a good choice for those who enjoy their drinks to go along with the food.The AC section is a bit small, and gets full in the evenings, so you might want to book a table in advance.
I have been going to sarovar for ages now to have their famous butter chicken. Their butter chicken is easily the best you can have in Pune. I have also tried other dishes from their menu over the years like khandeshi chicken sukka which is also lip smackingly good.
For those of you who enjoy their alcohol this is the place to go to because of their super quick service and at least 4-5 types of chakna they provide along with the booze. But still their piece de resistance remains the super yummy butter chicken. Do give it a try,you won't regret one bit.

One of the best butter chicken I've had in town. Good place to go have drinks. A bit costly. But worth the visit. They have a bigger smoking area then the non smoking one. You won't head the clutter of the main road.
overall the staff is good... the indian chinese food is worth it ! drinks are cheap ! cheersā¤ļø. more of a family resto but m8 be a good option if u manage to come wid ur frnds

Nice place with good food and ambience. This place now does not serve liquor because of the latest government notification since it falls within 500mts from highway. They have an AC family room and open air sitout. We ordered Khandeshi Chicken, Jeera Rice and Roti. The quantity was decent and the taste was great. Staff was courteous as well. Will definitely visit again.
Excellent taste. Masalas and marinations are a bit excess. But I guess that's exactly the kind of food one enjoys with their drink. Drinks or not, the food here is very nice. 2 thumbs up
I mean one of the best drinks I had over here. Very tastefully done cocktails. Chicken was great. Service is very fast. Soups are very good. Any item from this restaurant is good.

A friend of mine went gaga over the butter chiken served at this place. So, being a die hard butter chiken fan myself, i decided to give it a try last sunday for dinner with some of my friends. The place is located on FC road near Cafe Goodluck. Plus points for location. We found a table as soon as we entered. The places wasn't exactly overflowing with public. It has two different seating areas indoor A/C and outdoor seating. We preferred the outdoor seating. It is a moderate sized restaurant which serves a wide range of north indian and chinese dishes and drinks. Talking about the ambience- its above average. We tried masala papad, chiken lollypop, chiken gavran handi, butter nan and the main dish of interest butter chiken. Butter chiken was absolute heaven. Perfect. It lived upto my expectations. Masala papad was average. Chiken lollypop was good, tasty and soft - loved it. Gavran chiken handi failed to impress me. The spices didnt work for me. Butter nan was above average. I've had better nans than these. The service was really fast. The staff was very much humble. The quality of food was good and the quantity as well. The prices were extremely reasonable. Overall a good place to have dinner with your friends. A must visit for Butter Chiken fans.
Well quiet a bit decent outlet I'm pretty much impressed with the food that is been served here . It has a good ambience along with some quality service. Hope to visit this place soon
2 words - butter chicken!!!!! One of my friend suggested this place to me back in 2013 for its butter chicken and there has been no stopping me since then. I don't think a month has gone by without having their butter chicken, topped with grated boiled egg. One bet with my brother led me to having it once every week for a whole month! Also, try out their chicken or mutton dry khandeshi, which is more of a starter but a treat for your taste buds!
It's not the fanciest of places, but head here to get some good desi grub at pocket friendly rates. Love the Butter Chicken here. One of the best ones in Erandawane. Also try the Chicken Khadeshi dry starter. It's very typically Maharashtrian and goes really well with a chilled beer.

Balcony used to good for evening sit out....not any more due to impossible traffic running thru the main road.

This is hands downs the best place to get butter chicken in pune ... ive been visiting goin to this place since maybe 15 - 20 years n the taste of the butter chicken has not changed, its still awesome! The chicken manchurian is also somethin I'd recommend ... comin to the place - the ambience is quite pleasant .. the seating inside is a permit room .. the backyard is a nice cozy family section ... the rooftop seating is great ... the place is decent for a nice dinner n drinks
I have been visiting Sarovar since past 2 years now. My friend introduced me to this place saying they serve really great Butter Chicken. This place made me fall in love with Butter Chicken. Recently I visited them with a group of friends. Reserved table through Zomato booking for the next day. Went there and the staff greeted us cordially and showed us to our table. We placed our usual order of Butter Chicken, Butter Naan and Tandoori Chicken. The food here takes a lil more time to arrive as compared to other North Indian restaurants, but it's worth the wait.
The Butter chicken is damn tasty. The meat is well cooked and succulent. The Tandoori Chicken is perfectly marinated in spices. It's a bit on the spicier side, just the way I like it. The naan is, well, just naan lol. We also ordered for Dahi Chawal with tadka. It was delicious too. They also have beer and vodkas to go with your food. Truly a hidden gem on FC road. Highly recommended if you love Butter Chicken Butter Naan.

It feels like a set of 1990's sitcoms as you walk in here .. Old sofas with their springs being worn out and all . but surprisingly the food is very very good .. Service is on the slower side .. Just need to makeover and improve the interiors !!
Had been here for a friends birthday treat..it was a weekday and hotel was over crowded we got a place to sit..basically the ground floor is full with people boozing we order soup and some starter service is good food is awesome they make food according to our needs chicken malwani was awesome to taste roti were soft and hot...and we ended up with biryani they were also good...not extra delightful but what a standard hotel should serve location is best with great value for money and taste also good 4/5 would be a perfect score.
Sarovar is an restaurant located at Deccan. Entrance of the restaurant don't appeal you. But once you enter in, it have a ample space. It's a good hangout place for men. Men planning for a small get together can plan out. Food is good. Kebabs are good. Drinks pricing is average. Service crew is good.

Decent place in Deccan area...food is pity good..rates are low..cocktail and mocktails are ok...nice place in the heart of the city...staff can be more polished...they need some training but they are friendly and polite..
I always liked this place, particularly in its early years when it was one of the first air-conditioned bar cum restaurants in Deccan with a small scale, and light hearted feel inside! Sarovar always served good tasting, filling food and drinks, at reasonable prices! This combination seems to have worked in keeping it a popular place year after year!
Went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Good food and service. Prices were also quite reasonable. Standard Indian food. No frills but nothing to complain about either. The fact that they serve alcohol too is definitely a plus.

Though it is a bar they have keep their food quality up to mark. I have been there many times with friends and their matka chicken has never disappointed me. It's a good place to go, have few drinks and concentrate on eating. Tandoori platter is also value for money.

Checked in her Saturday night with old friends. No frills watering hole, you will get what you pay for. The drinks are cheap and the food is good, perfect when you are in the company of friends and ready for a long session. The snacks they serve complimentary are legendary. Do not check in if you are a hygiene freak.
Visited this place for a team lunch...though i didnt have anything..but i like the veg sabzi..rotis..naans n kulchas amazing... I was skeptical for this place as it seems a bungalow from outside... But good seating area and fabulous service...
I must admit 9 people ate in 30 mins...imagine the fast service and everybody ordered rotis twice.. Amazed to see fast service and the price was quiet affordable... Next time i want to try chicken there.

We always order butter chicken from this place. It is very very tasty and quantity is also very large!!! The chicken is well cooked and gravy is also not too oily or spicy. Just the right amount!!!
Sarovar is a "decent" bar in Deccan gymkhana where one can take family along. In food, most of the non-veg tandoor dishes are good in quality as well as quantity. In main course gavran chicken and chicken khandeshi are amazing. Both come in a thin, watery gravy and served with wheat chapati. Khandeshi is made in kala masala & tad bit spicy.Ā
PS: Alcohol is served by peg system.

Located at Deccan, Sarovar Restaurant is not so appealing from the outside.
Visited this place along with a friend on a Sunday afternoon.
It has two seating areas, one is internal(AC) and outdoor.
We ordered Chicken Lasooni Kebab,Butter Chicken and Butter naan.
Service-
The service here was very good.
Right from serving us the first glass of water to handing us our bill, the service was extremely prompt and efficient.
Food-
The Lasooni Kebabs were good.Cooked to the right amount, the chicken was tender and tasty.
The Butter Chicken was just awesomeee.. ļ ..Not too sweet,nor too spicy..Just perfect.
Butter Naan along Butter chicken is the ultimate combination.
Had a very nice experience visiting this place.

Been here several times with friends...ambiance is pleasant n relaxing over here...sitting arrangement at backside and terrace is very good...its spacious...service is fast ....staff and manager is friendly..they serve best complimentry starter with beer..my favourite is matka chicken...its awesomeee in taste....must try..rates are quite high now...but nice place to hangout with friends.
Nice place..we were planning a hangout at amrapali..but since there a was long wait..we decided to stand put here... We were a bit reluctant earlier because of my friends prior experience...but to our surprise food ordered was great... We ordered chicken banjara kebab & chicken pahadi kebab...both this dishes were nicely prepared & chicken was properly cooked...overall a nice place to hangout but just a touch pricey i feel...

Love their garlic chilli naan - perfectly crispy and well balanced with flavour.
CHICKEN BIRYANI- I don't know why this place isn't famous for its biryani. Succulent and spicy grilled chicken layered with aromatic and fine long grain rice, topped with coriander, mint leaves and fried onion! This is the dream! (I always mention to cook it with more masala and keep it a little moist and the chef nails it)
The place is a little cramped up. Would be lovely if they mark a different section for families.
Two sections to the restaurant. One is loud, the other serene. Although expensive, it is highly expensive actually....the scene is good. Not too far from from Pune, good place for a date.
