Ambience- is okayish and this place is quite approachable in the heart of kothrud.
Food- Majorly driven for chai and evening snack
Ordered- regular chai and cheese garlic bread. Chai was for 25 bucks and good in taste and on the other hand the cheese garlic bread for 100 bucks with six bread pieces. I loved the chai along with the garlic bread.
Value for money- not so pocket friendly but what else can you expect in the heart of the Kothrud city.

Chai express has always been a go to place when it comes to casual Hangouts with friends and basically tight pockets! Theyhv got some really good stuff at very reasonable and pocket Friendly prices!
Just like the name suggests, it's a place that masters in a beverage that not only tastes great and makes you feel refreshed but also hits directly to the soul, Chai-Chaha-Tea. Being a chai person I can assure you that I have had different kinds of teas from many places, so trust me when I say that chai katta serves some really really good chai!
O would recommend you to try their Ginger Tea, Elaichi Tea and Nutmeg tea (if available). You can also combine it with snacks and breakfast options like sabudana Khichadi which is really tasty, Maggie...well good old Maggie won't disappoint you! Or the old partners of chai such as bread butter or jam butter!
It's a small place opposite to Starbucks near Karishma society (oh btw, you'd rather spend your time here than spending it in Starbucks...just saying). Usually has heaps of customers during the evening time so you might have to wait!

I tried all types of tea here and m in just love with the taste you get. This is not the amruttulya tea. The aromatic smell of each type is refreshing. You nust have sabudana khichadi too.

A nice quiet evening brought me here to catch up with an old friend. Mighty good decision, because not only was the food delicious, but it's a really nice place to just sit and chat. The cinammon tea and cold coffee are both good...nothing extraordinary there though. The cheese chilli toast however is absolutely amazing and the mushroom toast was the highlight for me. Definitely would go again to try the rest if the vast menu.

Full value for money , whether it is Poha or Misal Pav or Mushroom sandwich , the variety of tea and coffee , everything is really good . The simplicity of the food makes it very close to soul food
Favourite hangout place for me and my friends. The food here is awesome. Sabudana khichdi, poha and misal are few of our favourites. They have a huge variety of teas. I absolutely love their lemongrass tea. This is one place which has never disappointed us in terms of quality, taste and quantity!

Chai Express
Ahead of the Starbucks in Kothrud is another crowded place. This place is called chai express. Very rarely have I found this place to be empty. It can be attributed to the fact that this place serves some decent tea and food. The place is quite small and holds just 3 tables inside and 6 tables outside. The wait time is usually of about 15 mins.
I have been to this place multiple times and have ordered different items here. They serve some spicy misal. One of the things that I love at this place is sabu wada. The sabu wada is crispy and has a nice crunch. It is served with some sweetened yogurt. This place also serves pretty good moong dal wada. But the main attraction of the place is their variety of chais. I have tried their ginger, mint, lemon grass, masala and elachi and everyone of them is good. The tea is made as per order and so they take some time to arrive but are really hot and fresh. They also serve the combination of any of the two teas.
To put in a nutshell, this place is a nice little extruded version of a thela. They serve some awesome tea. Do try their Sabu Wada.

Small little joint near Karishma society kothrud where you get variety of tea and few good food options.

I recommend Cinnamon, lemon grass, Adrak chai. mohito, Khichadi (make sure you ask them to add extra crushed peanuts)
Everything is made fresh as you order so it takes time but ensures you get good food.
Evenings can get busy so getting a table to sit will take 10-15 mins on average.
its a small place so a group of 5-6 people will have to be accommodated grabbing chairs from other tables.

Have visited this places like 100 times. Its a best place to visit for every chai lover. They have basic 10 flavours for tea and you can also mix and match between those. Lemongrass-adrak is my personal favorite.The location of the place is nice. However the sittings provided are less that is why you may not find place to sit.

This cafe will soothe your mind amidst the hustle and bustle of karishma society. Well, I guess they serve the cheapest Mojitos in Pune, but they are really good. The service is prompt and the staff is very well behaved. Overall, had a very good experience.

Small place with too many types of tea on offer in the menu. Green tea is ok and so is the black tea with lemon. Have had pohe here which are also good in taste. Just that the service is very slow and would appreciate if the outer seating area has a mosquito coil to shoo away the mosquitoes. Worth visiting once.
Their menu for the variety of teas is a surprise for the small joint they run. Their service is a little slow but the food is totally worth it. It is very homely and has an Indian twist to most of the dishes. Have tried the various toasts, sabudana khichdi, mint, masala and the regular tea. Its a small, cozy place for a very chilled out evening. Don't expect too much out of the ambience though.

You should try this 2 things lemon grass tea and there Moong daal bhaji it is the best amongst all the menu as I have tried everything from the menu but never felt any disappointment....As I am Hogger I just need a reason to eat

Misal was ok ok! Taste was good but not spicy at all, all over it was ok!
Filter coffee was great, strong and perfect! I really loved it! I'm gonna try it again for sure!
Cold Coffee(chocolate flavoured) was good, i love coffee+chocolate combination but this cold coffee(chocolate) wasn't up to my expectation! Coffee wasn't strong and chocolate flavor was ok!

Service is slow. But taste and food is nice but a bit hiked as compared to the service. Untrained staff. And when wet there for breakfast chairs were not arranged so we personally had to arrange them they were list bored if the sitting arrangements are proper or not. Coffee was too amazing and satisfactory. Chai was good to according to my friends.
50-50 satisfied. Would visit again for coffee only.

One thing to mention, whenever you visit do order for mong bhaji. They were delicious.! 😋
This place is one of my favorite spots to have my Tea with some snacks.
My personal fav is the Gulkand Chai with Poha .

The ambiance is pretty simple but i always have a great time here.
It can take some time to get a seat here if you are visiting in evenings as it is pretty small.
I always prefer the outdoors here as indoors are little tight .
A pocket friendly place to catch up over cups of chais and plates of assorted bhajis! The only problem is one usually craves for chai- bhaji in monsoon the most but looking at the sitting arrangement here, has to search for other options ! Please look after sitting arrangements and everything else would be so perfect !

Had a honey tea. it was just awesome. The smell of the tea is so tempting that even the taste of the tea is very very beautiful. Chai express should open its branches as many places as possible, in Pune also and even in other cities too.
This is a nice not so costly and decent place to chitchat or meet friends instead of meeting at lavish CCD , star bucks or barista cafes. Usually I ordered Lemongrass Tea and its good. Their famous tea is masala tea however I didn't recognise difference between ginger tea and masala tea. I also ordered pasta and I liked it. I will always be in touch with my friends due to this place.
This place screams for making 'Chai' the cool beverage!! Chai and the food are good. It just makes your daily pohe and chai at a tapri a bit upscale.
Overall, it's a good place for all the chai lovers out there, but others might not find it much appealing.

Mumbai's concept of chai places like Chaayos has finally caught on in Pune. This small one at Kothrud is a really nice place although it could certainly do wiht more space and slightly better tea. Definitely worth it though.
Peaceful rectangular place. Comfortable seating. Good graffiti art:) . I had Mushroom sandwich(brown bread). It let my taste buds feel extremely good :D . Awaking Ginger tea ...really great if have a tiring day!
Headed to Chai Express with a friend in the late afternoon for our daily tea fix. A small, no-frills cafe in a bylane off Karve Road, this place surprised me with it's rather expansive menu.
Ordered a Ginger and a Cinnamon tea along with a Garlic Cheese Toast to snack on. Both the teas had just the right balance of the spices with the tea flavour and the garlic cheese toast had a good layer of cheese on the toast.
Overall its a nice place to chill out with friends over tea or coffee and some snacks. And it's light on the pocket as well.
Small place in kothrud.. ambiance is not so good... outdoor siting available which is a comfort at night.. tried variety of teas there .. lemongrass and ginger tea is a must try.. loved it..just the perfect amount of ginger and lemongrass..worth a visit if u want to have nice cup of tea in kothrud area ..

Lemon Tea is what i go for every time.The place is small and quiet decent.It's a kind of place when you don't have much time and want to grab some snacks with a cup of hot tea from the variety on the menu which is pocket friendly.
Chai express is a small cafe with nice ambience of retro theme to its interiors and u have a good taste of chai as claimed by them in the menu card. One can spend a good time with friends for hours too. Loved the lemon and adrak chai.

Really cool place to just meet friends and relax after a hectic day. The snacks consist of ever favorite Marathi snacks such as kanda bhaji and vadapav as well as an assortment of sandwiches. The different types of tea while not being very fancy are nicely brewed and help you relax.

A nice little place.Different types of tea,from normal milk tea to green tea and of course snacks to accompany you.I would define this place as a place to meet up someone after a long time and spend some quality time over tea.We had lemon grass tea and green tea.Both priced at 30Rs.As they say,the charge for the place and not the food.Spending quality time and actually having a good cup of tea is really worth 30Rs.
Other than that we ordered cheese chilly toast and batata bhaji which were fine. Nothing extraordinary.

Visited the place today n ordered regular chai, mushroom cheese grilled sandwich and peach ice tea.mushroom Cheese sandwich had lots of cheese and the cheesier the better 😋!!!yum .ice tea refreshing....overall had a nice experience. Only let off was the turned off AC which made the inside sitting quiet hot. But the ice tea had me refreshed in a jiffy...
Chai express serves a decent variety of teas. I'm a fan of their masala chai and black tea. The food is mostly snacks and isn't all that great; greasy and college canteen type quality.
Perfect place for a cuppa tea in the evenings though.

Visited the place last week. I was not very impressed. We ordered filter coffee, because they had it, which may sound odd considering the name of the venue. It took much time and was okay. A bun maska would have been perfect with it though.
The internal ambience was a put down. That's the reason I'm rating this place average. The AC wasn't working, the decor seemed partially done and there was constant chatter from the kitchen about something. They could bring in some professionalism in it because their prices somewhat warrant it. The 0.5 more than average is solely for the attendant who served us, he was very friendly and nice to talk to.
I would want to visit again to check our other food items but as of now I'm sticking with an average rating.

1. Small outlet with a unique concept. Don't be fooled by its name. It has different varieties of 'chaai' and great sandwiches and snacks too.
2. I had grilled chutney sandwich and ginger tea here. The sandwich was well grilled but the taste (chutney)was average. Overall it was okay-ish. Ginger tea ( black) was plain and flat. Ginger tea is expected to be pungent- strong just enough to create a raw feeling in the mouth. Ginger tea could have been better.
3. The place is small. Has outdoor and indoor seating. The judicious use of the available space is commendable. Outdoor seating is very comfortable. Well arranged ,clean table and chairs. Indoors it has two tables and a wall-attached common table just enough for 4 people at a time. Lighting inside gives a pleasant ambiance. Half star extra for the aesthetics.
5. Service- Now this is the area they really need to work on. You might end up waiting for your order for a long time or might get it quickly. Staff can be more attentive and prompt in their service.
6. Prices here are extremely reasonable.
Extremely convenient location makes it a good choice. In the end I would like to put my experience as " This place has style ,should improve on substance"

Suddenly today I saw this place and then I was like I haven't been here yet let's give it a try. And the experience was quite good. Like you can get around 20 types of tea here with some quick bites which is kinda cool when you look at the price for which they all provide this stuff. Overall the place deserves a second visit for sure.
The place has modest seating , but superb 'chai' menu . You get a 'amrut-tulya' (traditional tea stall) equivalent tea here in a decent set-up.
The host & team of waiters is from Konkan and are very humble & warm in their approach . The pricing is very reasonable .

A place with a good ambience, nice to drop by for a quick bite. It has wide variety ranging from pohe to pasta. I tried the sabudana khichadi which wasn't oily at all and was freshly prepared. The moong daal bhaji are also a must try. Friendly staff.

Being a Mumbaikar, getting authentic Batata vada is a task in Pune. This place, however, serves the best ones! Apart from that, kanda bhaji (onion pakoda) and cheese garlic toast are damn tasty! Thandai, adrak chai and iced tea are a must have! Have a great time! Omnomnom..:-)

This is one of the best option for your morning breakfast as well as evening snacks.
Quiet famous for in and around Karishma society people.
At it has 8 tables only and chairs are of plastic so not so cozy, it gets full quickly and so you will have to wait for sometime to get a table.
Food taste is good but also prices are only quiet on higher side.
We tried Tea (₹35), Poha (₹60) and Sabudana khichdi (₹80), all were worth trying.

You will get different types of tea at this place , rush all the time ,specially on tea time in morning and evening , very difficult to get parking near this place , you will get 2 wheeler parking but for car it's very difficult , service is not quick in pick hours , place is small so you have to wait to get chairs and table , though you will get chairs you will be surprised looking at the menu card normal regular tea cost 25 rs where you will get nice tea in 10 ruppe , yes you are charged for place and hygiene ,place is clean enough , tea served in glass as same as normal place or or tapari , but test is little different , for suger less tea you have to wait long , over all good place if you want to sit and chat chat with chai and with special loved ones , it's good option to CCD not expensive as compair to CCD
