The food was awesome. I enjoyed the real Indian-Spice flavour which was giving mouth watering taste to to my Chicken Masala Thali and Chicken Fry Thali. Best chicken in Pune in terms of spice.
"fakth tikhat manje kolhapuri navhe kolhapuri he ek chav ahe" he prove karnari orignal ani assaal kolhapuri taste, speciality items like Gavran chicken, Mutton fry, ekdum bhari, aani Dum Biryani tar naad kula...
An average but delicious place. Mutton thali was good but not great. I got fulled and the portion was much enough for a single person. If you are really hungry then you have it.
Why should you visit?
Over the years many flavours go into extinction. However my foodie friends, this is the place which serves authenticated tambda and pandhra rassas. The taste lingers in your mouth and you wish to eat more and more. If you compare the ambiance of this place with the well known restaurants in Pune, then you might get disappointed. However you can pay a visit with your family and 'foodie' friends.
Food:
The restaurant has a thali system as well as plate system. The distinguishing character between the thali and plate is that, apart from the mutton or chicken gravy you get egg curry in the thali system. Every meal is great and gets unlimited pandhra and tambda rassas so no worries.I would suggest you to take an appetizing solkadhi instead of soft drinks. And also, try the thali instead of ordering just a biryani.
Note:
1. As the place is located at the centre of
Pune you may find traffic jams or no place to park your car. So take a two wheeler or an auto rikshaw.
2. Try visiting the place during the peek hours or on weekends(I know this sounds odd. I am suggesting this after reading the negative reviews of this place. If you ask me the place really serves delicious food.)
3. You must be a non vegetarian if you are visiting the place. Vegetarian food is available but not recommended.
*Thursday Holiday*
The place is closed on Thursdays.
To conclude, if you keenly focus only on the food it won't disappoint you.
I have been eating food at this place for almost 12 years...
No change in taste...
Awesome food!!!
Especially chicken fry, Tambda Pandhra Rasaa 😋
dont know how this awesome restaurant can have this less ratig... it should be above four..i personally found dis restaurant up to the mark the way serving there thali with delicious food ..everything was so perfect..i like the food very much ...
I went there because I saw reccomodation on What's Hot Pune.

This restaurant is quite famous for its taste. I felt the same. Important thing to notice is that Chicken Pieces are awesome and fresh. Didn't like Tambada Rassa too much but Pandhra Rassa was better, compared to others.
One more thing to notice is that it has got great ambience spread over 1500 square feet. It may not feel the high class but indeed, it's huge for any Kolhapuri thali restaurant. Staff is kind and maintain a cleanliness #noticeable.
Ambience:4.2
Chicken:4
Rassa: 3.7
Menu card: You can find variety of food. Not so much cheap compared to competitor.
Worth for Money: Little confused.
Photos are of Chicken Thali and Green Piece Pulav.
I have been here couple of times. As this place is in sadashiv peth there is parking problem, avoid car if ur going to this place. Ambience is not good small place. The thalis here are the main attraction like chicken thali, mutton thali. I have tried both the thali both are good. Chicken and mutton loncha option is also here in thali. Food Taste is good. For non veg lovers must visit this place once.

*** Sugrans Kolhapuri*****"
Amazing place located in the heart of the city...Sadashiv peth !!
I have been visiting this place since 2010. You will get authentic Kolhapuri taste here with pure spices (no artificial ingredients)
We ordered
1) Chicken curry thali (INR 220) - it includes finger licking chicken curry (3 pieces of chicken including leg piece) , Kheema bowl, Egg curry, tambda rassa, pandhra rassa , dahi kanda,3 chapati/2 bhakri, indrayani rice
2) Mutton fry thali (INR 260) - it includes mutton fry plate(4 pieces) , kheema bowl, Egg curry plate, tambda rassa , pandhra rassa , Dahi kanda, 3 chapati/2 bhakri, indrayani rice
3) Sol kadhi (not in pic) (INR 20)- they really serve very good Sol kadhi...it's far better than any other kokani/malwani restaurants in the city
Total damage done - Chicken curry thali (220) + mutton fry thali (260) + Sol kadhi (20) = INR 500
No additional charges...NO GST
Total VFM
I am not sure, where I ate, I was too caught up with parking my car in a lane where a bicycle can cause a gridlock. But Surgan's 'seemed closed' and we ate at at an authentic Kolhapuri place bang opposite Sugan's in Sadashivpeth. I could not find it on the map later. I am safely assuming that this review will hold for both. Just don't drive, take an auto. Not even an Uber or an Ola. However. This is a small one room eatery with humble furniture. A kind of a grim nod serves as a greeting. But oh man, the food is super class! The caveat being, ONLY for those who aren't scared of hot spicy curry. We ordered a mutton masala thali and a mutton fry thali with chapati and on a whim, another plate of chicken fry (that's a thick curry, by the way), on the side. A bowl of white buttermilk (superb cameo to the red hot spicy star) and a desi salad of minced onion and cucumber in a ..well..I guess buttermilk matrix. Two more bowls of 'extra gravy'-- strictly for the inrepid - which we are. The chicken and the mutton tasted like juicy dynamite. Temper with copious onion salad. You get free refills of the sald, the extra curry and all-you-can-eat chapatis. And rice, which we did not order at all. We couldn't go on, we couldn't stop, lip smacking and lip tingling. Recommended all the way.
Amazing stuff...the mutton thali , mutton biryani. Ambience is average, hygiene can be improved ,easy on pocket.
Value for money and mind blowing taste!
Located near Bharat Natya Mandir in Sadashiv Peth.
Ambience is not so good. But they serve excellent Kolhapuri non veg Thalis. They serve Tambda rassa, Pandhara rassa in every Thali. Alani Rassa & Sol Kadi were superb. They serve Variety of special non veg Thalis. They have economical Thalis also, for the people who can't eat much in normal Thalis.
Must visit for Kolhapuri non veg food lovers.

Awesome stuff...the mutton thali , mutton biryani simply over seeds it's competition. Ambience - average, cleanliness - can be improved , pricing - competitive.
Over all value for money and fantastic taste !
One of the best places in pune to have kolhapuri mutton thali. Every time come to pune my first meal is booked at sugran. Only for foodies since the place isn't great in ambience department.
M regular visitor of this place.writing review after long time..Most delicious kolaphuri cuisine in sadashiv peth area.Special mutton/chicken thali is best dish to order here.Their speciality is pandhara rassa and tambda rassa.Always you will be server hot pandhara and tambda rassa. In special mutton thali you will get dry mutton, gravy mutton, khemma vati, egg curry with rice and choice of bhakti or chapati.
Non vEg lovers will definitely love this place😊
The idea was to have 'assal' kolhapuri non-veg food. Wherein this place was high on recommendations. So, without much ado finalized this place. We were a group of six peeps. Reached a bit late in the night by 9.30pm. People had lined up to feast on as the month of Shravan had just ended. Had to wait for a long time. After waiting for almost 45 minutes we had lost hope of getting a table, but then were lucky enough to grab one at around 10.30pm.
Even though it being so late in the night, the servers were on their feet and served us with the food promptly every time we asked for something. All of us had to order the Chicken Fry Thali as all other items were exhausted :( But the Chicken Fry Thali was awesome too. Tambda Rassa were savoured by us largely. Also the chicken was good in taste and cooked well. All the items were very good in taste.
The ambiance is kinda okayish. Nothing special to mention about. All in all our wish of muching on tasty non-veg was fulfilled. Everyone liked the food.
Enjoy your Chicken and Rassas! :)
As the saying goes "You don't need a silver fork to eat good food" and good food is what you can expect at Sugrans. The set up is very very simple but its an excellent Kolhapuri Thali experience, especially for those of you who like their food mildly spiced (like me) yet flavourful (I find other thali joints over spice their food). The one that I usually order is the Mutton Fry thali. This thali comes with a small portion of Mutton Kheema, Pandhra Rassa (white mutton thin gravy), Tambda Rassa (slightly spicy and tangy thin gravy), Sukha Mutton, Mutton Curry, Salad and options of Rice, Roti and my personal favourite, Bhakri.
P.S You might want to check if they are open before you visit as they are closed on certain days.
Sugran's Kolhapuri Non Veg, located in Sadashiv Peth near Bharat Natya Mandir.
As it's name it serves Kolhapuri Non vegetarian Food. And yes has a variety of Chicken dishes if you would like.
One of the places in Sadashiv Peth where you get a Non vegThali . If you like kolhapuri food, it is preferable to have it in a complete thali meal.
We had Chicken Masala Thali on our visit. With tambda-pandhra rassa it tastes good.
We felt the food quality Ok.
Place gets crowded on weekends.
A family place but not for the one looking for ambience.
This is a great place to eat some spicy kolhapuri non vegetarian food. Me and my wife were at Sadashiv peth area and we realised that we will be late for lunch, so decided to try this place which was just 2 min walk from our location.
From outside you might feel that its a small and very down market kind of place, but when you go inside you will see a big lawn which is neat and clean and good enough for you to have you meals. The crowd might not be that great, but food is :)
We ordered a butter chicken thali (wife) and I took an Egg curry thali, which was very delicious. We chose bhakri instead of roti and it was so BIG (just 1 piece) , it was easily equal to 2 bhakri's .. RIce was also there, but it was just one small plate of biryani rice, so overall a great thali with good quantity and very good taste.
You get unlimited pandhra and tambra rassa along with salad :)
Service was good enough (it was almost empty that time). Ambiance wise as I said, its decent enough inside. Its open place. Please check the pictures attached. But do give a try for sure, its a nice place worth trying once atleast.
Parking you need to find near by somewhere in the lanes :)
Tried mutton special thali. Okish environment. Helpful owners and staff. Decent quantity and reasonably priced. Rs. 300/- per thali. Different taste .. so recommended for atleast a visit.
The lane from tilak road to peru gate is heaven for non veg eaters . Situated in this crowded space is Sugarans Kolhapuri non veg serving kolhapru non veg food specially thalis.
I have been here 4-5 times over the years and found their food consistent and tasty
Food quality and quantity both are satisfactory . I have most of the times tried their Chicken fry thali and chicken fry is awesome here .
They have added chicken / mutton lonache thalis now and they are good too
So overall good place to try kolhapuri non veg food at reasonable rates with better quality and quantity than other places
It was quite mix Kind of Experience, Waiter very arrogant, Service is not so good, No one of them knows what is exactly available in hotel,.. But in the Food is tooo Good..
Most delicious Kolhapuri cuisine! Non-spicy yet tasty; they break the popular myth of "Kolhapuri means hot and spicy".
Loved their mutton fry thali. Fish was average though, but will return for their mutton thali time and again!
aha-ha..."Pot phute paryant khalla...Burppp..." is what we all said in Marathi when we had last visited Sugrans... and not just last time, it's the same whenever I go there.
It has the best seating compared to others in the neighborhood and for me it also holds the best Non-Veg Thali. My fav is the Chicken plate and for my partner who has a bigger appetite, it's the Spc. Chicken Thali. For a change, the Gavran Masala chicken had a very different gravy taste which will be my next times preferred dish.
For vegetarians, don't be too optimistic but a must try will be the Daal Tadka & Jeera rice.
For the verdict, a definite go to with friends and family for a change when you don't want to booze and want to sit and enjoy a good meal.
Price are way worth the quality and quantity at ranging from 250/- to 350/- a Thali
Excellent food guys must visit restaurant. I'm regular visitor and love the food + rassa. Awesome food quality thou a bit expensive but no compromise on quality especially the material used.
Taste 😋 is good, specially tambda rassa and pandhara rassa..
Extremely tasty tambda rassa and pandhra rassa. I have been to Authentic restaurants in Kolhapur itself but this taste was not matched by any of those. Although the sitting area is comparatively small as this is a mess sort of place but one could wait for a few minutes to get into such a great food treat. Chicken was amazingly fresh and I could ask for more and more of it!
One of My favorite place for having food.....it's so tasty that I literally can eat thali on regular basis..... Mutton and chicken both are good but I will suggest to go for mutton thali as very tasty and well prepared.
Sugran's Kolhapur is a non-veg joint in the Bharat Natya lane in Sadashiv Peth. Not known for its service or look but Sugran's niche lays its finger licking good food which is served in huge quantity. That pretty much sums up the experience.
When I first visited it last year, I had reservations about the place due to its shady appearance. Its not messy or unclean but its not even close to being appealing. Its located in the heavily crowded lane which makes the parking,...lets just say walking is good for your appetite!
Its a primarily a thali based hotel but you can order an assorted meal as well. I remember I had ordered a Chicken Leg thali the first time and ordered the same in my multiple next visits. A thali includes a generous portion of chicken/mutton that you order along with egg curry, a small bowl of kheema, unlimited tambda (red) and pandhra (white) rassa, chapatis, masala rice and salad.
They have the spices equation just right that gives you a meal to remember as you can't stop till your buttons start to budge out. What I really like about the place is that they are not stingy. I hate it when minuscule portions are served when a person is willing to pay. I hope the management knows this and never ever change this aspect of the hotel
Other options in thalis include chicken special, chicken masala, chicken fry, butter chicken etc. Even the mutton here has had thumbs up reviews. Not a mutton guy myself but the information comes from very reliable sources. From my personal experience, I would suggest the butter chicken thali for those who are not so much into 'rassa' type of food. Even chicken masala is good. I plan to try the others when I am through the options I have tried and not enough of.
Now a word of caution and the only reason for not giving them a better rating is that keep the hotel closed on random occasions. Gets really irritating when you go to place to find it closed. Needless to say its worth the risk!
Yesterday I went to this Sugrans place with a friend. They have two 2 sitting areas. A garden and a small area at the entrance. We chose a smaller place as we were just 2 of us.
We ordered a Special Mutton Thali and a Kheem Masala Thali. The Sukka mutton was garnished with fried onions and was really very tender. Even the mutton curry was tasty. One thing we noticed that the food was not at all spicy which the other Kolhapuri food joints serve. It was perfectly spiced. Even the Kheema Masala was very tasty. The chapatis very nice and hot and Pandhra Tambda Rassa was unlimited. The Dahi Kanda cannot be missed.
Quick service with a polite staff is a good thing.
The wrong directions on the map made us walk a lot to locate this tiny little place..but all the walking was truly worth it..the mutton and chicken thali is a meat lovers delight with mutton curry, chicken curry, mutton and chicken fry, egg curry, keema all served in decent quantity... The food described as mildly spiced by the waiter was a little on the higher side for us..but the unlimited serving of white curry (rassa) served as a balancing agent...overall an awesum and hearty meal that fills your stomach without burning a hole in your pocket...
Chicken, mutton thalis here are superb. Go in chilling winter and have this hot rassa! :) There's nothing better than that. Red/white curry (thambda pandhara rassa) is awesome. Default it will be little spicy so ask them for mid to less spicy. They also have veg thali in case someone in your family/company is pure veg. Chicken/mutton is properly cooked and fresh. Curd onion as a side is awesome too! They also have ala-carte system available but thali is first thing you should try (especially if going for the first time).
Pure non-vegetarians (especially those who like kolhapuri or malavani/kokani style non-veg) will love this place!
Good food with a Maharashtrian touch. Entrance is quite small and easily missed. Food quality and quantity is sufficient. Though slightly on the spicy side.
Punjent tasted chicken....:)...modest ambience...with desent service....taste of chicken tempting....at prohibited place of old city......!!!
Loved the spicy kolhapuri taste. I had special mutton thali, that had 3 kinds of mutton dishes, bhakari and rice. The tambada (red) and pandhara (white) rassa was awesome! Ambiance should be neglected.
Indeed a modest place to satisfy your Kolhapuri urges. Very decent seating and prompt service, the dishes were nice and flavourful. Just because its Kolhapuri means it should be hot wasn't the case, meat slipping off bones, warm bhakri's and alright'ish Solkadi.
Unlimited supply of tamda and pandra rassa, overall not too bad at all. At approx 250-300 rs for a Special thali its definitely vfm.
Bhakti Khade Rangoonwala
+3.5
A modest place to satisfy your thirst for kolhapuri cuisine. I went for the chicken fry thali. The thali is huge. They are generous with the meat.. Kheema Vati, unlimited pandhra, tambda rassa, there is egg cury , biryani rice. And chicken fry dish. The chicken fry was yum and finger licking. The Kheema was good. The tambda and pandhra rassa missed on some points on authenticity. Other wise it is A good kolhapuri thali. Sol kadi was refreshing, we ordered for chicken biryani which was really yummy. Do not expect awesome ambience. It's a homely place. Tables put up in the backyard of a wada .. It definitely is a tasty treat for kolhapuri non veg fans like me.
if ur looking for good non vegetarian food in pune then I recommend this place.
Best kolhapuri food in pune
Have been visiting this restaurant almost every fortnight, and trust me.. there's no match for this Kolhapuri Non-Veg cuisine anywhere in Pune ... especially tambda-pandhra rassa, chicken fry and whole other menu items....
I am a frequenter here, purely because of the maintained standard over the last 10 years.
The ambiance isn't anything that deserves a mention.
The food though, is beyond awesome. Starting with the dahi-kanda, the Kolhapuri-ness of the place kicks in. Then come the two Rassas (in unlimited supply) that so categorically state their allegiance to the restaurant's name.
Everything on the menu has its own taste, not that everything has the same gravy as base. The meat is tender enough to offer just a slight resistance to your carnivorous teeth. They aren't stingy with meat. You get what you pay for. It's more noticeable with lamb dishes, as the bones are not the major part of meat pieces seen in the plate, it's the meat.
No comments on the veggie food here, as I never ordered veg here.
Go here if you want great food and tasteful interiors is not a must-have.
Bhigawan & Yeramala fish thali are good.
Test of rassa very nice.
But little cleanliness is required.
Overall is good experience.
I personally like bhigavan fish thali. You will get unlimited rassa & soup, 2 bhakari, 3 pieces of fish, indrayani rice.
Sugran special thali
Best non-veg thali in pune
Must Try Sugran Special Thali...🐟👍🏻
