It is authentic malwani restaurant in pune area. They have management based on kokan locality.
Staff is polite and food is genuinely kokani.
Must visit and try
Excellent food. Home made Masala makes the dishes very very tasty. The best thing is the size of fish. Its very economical too. Highly recommended for fish lovers. Try Surmai Fry Pomfret Fry Prawns Fry Fish Curry Rice and Vade.
Guru Sawant Makvan
katta (karve nagar)
This has become our regular haunt whenever we want to have sea food.
They have the freshest seafood cooked to perfection.
This time we wanted to try the crab thali which we have never tried here before. Crab thali is available on Saturday and Sunday only.
Crab thali: fresh crab in thick gravy. Accompanied by bhakri, sukhat fry, solkadhi and curry, followed by rice.
Prawns thali: I love the prawns curry at this place. This thali has prawns curry, prawns fry, bhakri, solkadhi, sukhat fry, extra curry and rice. The curry is yummy and prawns are well cooked. Prawns fry are flavourful and they have the perfect crunch.
We did order extra plate of prawns fry.
Surmai thali: this thali had the biggest piece of surmai fry I have ever had. Again a delicious slice of surmai fry. Surmai curry had a mild flavour of kokum.
Prawns and fish thali are available everyday and crab thali are available only over the weekend.
We finished this off with pan at the pan shop just outside the restaurant.
A family Run restaurant located opposite Phoenix Market city Vimanagar
The hotel specialises in Malwani food, Naam mai hi to hai.
The ambience is fine, nothing fancy yet to too bland.
This is the second brach in Pune the main Branch in located in Karve Nagar.
Rating is being decided on the quality as well as the quantity of the food served at the restaurant.
The prices are spot on in my view the costly thali are the pomfret or Surmai.
We tried tried the prawns thali and mackerel aka bangda thali.
What I liked - prawns thali with six mixed rawa fried with same in the curry.
Whichever thali you ask we get the sme curry.
This place also serves rice bhaki which is a rare dish here in Pune. Only made by a few of the restaurant.
Please do try the rave fried prawns.
Hope you have fun trying this restaurant.
Thanks,
Kevin
The best Sea food available in pune. Courteous Management. Very authentic taste.
Worth every penny spent.
Our friend suggested this place, located in Viman Nagar. Lane opposite Park Estique Hotel. Do not go by the simple seating and ordinary appearance.
Once you take your first bite, you just know that you are in seafood heaven. A must try for all seafood lovers before they get too busy and there is a long wait to get a place to sit.
I have a catchy caption for this place, “Ek baar aoge, toh baar baar aoge”.
They have really yummy food 😋
And the solkadi is delicious 🤤🤤
Impromptu plans are the best. And when the food turns out to be better than expected, what more could you ask for? A 30 minute drive from Baner was all worth it when the food arrived. 2 Prawn Thaalis and 1 Pomfret Thaali which all come loaded with 3 Chappatis/2 Bhaakris, Fish Curry, Chicken Curry, Fried Fish as per the thaali, solkadi (not the sweet kind), sukat, chutney, onion and lemon. We ordered a side portion of Bombil Fry which was Rawa fried, crisp, super fresh and tasty to say the least. All in all, 3 very stuffed, super happy customers paid a total of 1,710/- which was definitely VFM.
Definitely recommended.

A nice place to have authentic malvani sea food. Worth visiting and value for money.
We had king fish (Surmai) thali. Fish curry was amazing.
Loved the awesome food and the taste reminded me of my home. Prawns and fish were fresh tasted yummy. Staff was polite and lovely
If you are a true fish lover this place is exactly where you should be. One the finest place in Pune for authentic Malwani cuisine. They serve all types of seafood in pocket friendly prices. Totally worth it ❤️
Guru sawant malwan katta located in karve nagar.
We went for dinner last week and tried
Surmai thali
Thali was huge and comes with a big big surmai fry piece. Bangda curry , sukat chutney , bhakri and rice
Best part of thali was surmai fry . The piece was so big and fresh . Amazing
Overall thali lived upto it's name and we savoured very bit of it
This restaurant serves homely seafood
This restaurant is VFM. Seafood lover visit this place.Fish thali of this restaurant is mindblowing and delicious.
We have tried bombil fry and it was really very nice. Then we have ordered surmai fish thali.
Tandool bhakari was not fresh mean it was prepared earlier and they have served just hot. Fish curry was very tasty and portion of the fish was also big. Overall experience was good.
Rating would be 4/5
Fish was fresh and tasty, they should try rice flour and besan for coating as not all people like Rava fried fish. Overall experience was good. Polite staff. Those who are crazy for sea food they must try it
The Surmai thali is just too amazing, They provide fresh fish. They have a variety of fish thali.
Guru Sawant's Malvani katta is a treat for all the fish lovers out there!
They serve authentic Malvani fish which is absolutely delightful!
We had :
1) Surmai Thali
The moment our Thali arrived we were amazed by the size of the fish , a massive piece of flavourful “Surmai rawa fry! " , that was a six on the fist ball!
Apart from the fish fry the thali consisted of some indulging authentic “Malvani Bangda curry ", “Solkadhi” which was not at all sweet but was refreshing, the “Chicken Curry” ( for the people who can't take so much of fish curry) and two “delish chatnis” , the moist chatni was made up of coconut and dry fish and the other one was solely made up of “Dry fish”. And how can we forget the “Tandalichi Bhakri" which is made from rice flour which definitely completes the Malwani Thali.
2) The Prawns Thali
“Jumbo Rawa fried prawns” which were super crunchy and perfectly marinated
along with some insane “Prawns masala” which was tangy, spicy and mouthwatering. The Amsul in the masala did all the magic! You literally can't hold back your smile after tasting that!
The “Fish curry” , “Tandalachi Bhakri” and “Sukat Chatnis” were same as the Surmai thali.
3) Bombil fry
A fish meal is incomplete without a “Bombil Fry” and the Bombil fry here did not disappoint us at all!
Nice crispy pieces of Bombil Rawa fried along with the "magic" chatni ofcouse !
A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED place to dig in some insane Sea Food!
.
P.S. They are opening their branch in Vimannagar soon!
One word ZABARDAST..... this place is just wow.... Food quality top class.... Guys plz visit this place.... Best sea food in pune.... Pompret thali just too good.... Prawns yummmyyy
This place has become a legend in Pune and in spite of living so close, I had never visited. That changed a few days ago and I got a taste of why this place has received all the praise it gets. First of all, it's an extremely unassuming place, simple, hole in the wall types. But, as often is the case, the hearts of the owners and the taste, is much bigger. But unlike most small places, cleanliness and hygeine is not compromised. The kitchen is absolutely clean and the seating too is really good. The owner, Guru Sawant, is a gracious host and always there to suggest the freshest and best he has to offer.
But food is where they absolutely knock it out of the park. We started off with some Bombil fry and Prawns fry. All rawa fry, simple, but with an incredible taste. The traditional homemade masala is the source of all this magic and it's incredibly flavourful. But what shines through even more, is the fresh beautiful seafood.
The Bombil was soft, juicy with the typical slight slimy texture. The Prawns were huge, plump and soft. I will say, hands down, one of the best prawns fry I've ever had.
We also had a Bangda fry (had to, it is my favourite fish!). It was, again, super fresh and juicy, slightly less masala than the others, but the flavour of the fish came through. The crispy skin is such a treat.
Surmai Thali
What astonishes you the most, is the damn size of the Surmai fry! Massive steak, the size of my bloated head. Soft and succulent flavourful meat on the inside with the crisp, beautifully spiced rawa crust. I loved it so much I got two pieces to go as well.
The Bangda Curry is just wonderful. Coconut based, medium spice, but the tanginess from the amsul and trifal, is what makes it. Just absolutely lipsmacking, one of the most perfect curries, in my opinion. A heap of rice and this curry, I could have that everyday of my life. With the firm fleshy bangda, it was even better.
There was another small bowl of spicy curry, which was nice, had a great flavour of garam masala. We also ordered Prawn Masala on the side. It was a delicious spicy curry, quite heavy on garam masala. It was really good, but I prefer more of a milder curry with my prawns, so not my thing.
The Sol Kadhi is something else that is special, It is really mild, unlike many places that make it either too strong or too sweet. This was neither and thus was super refreshing after all the spice.
We paid about 750 each for the 3 of us (except for our individual parcel orders). The place is definitely quite reasonably priced, especially because of the sheer size and quality of the seafood you get. I've never seen Surmai, Prawns and Pomfrets this size being served anywhere else, especially at this price. Plus the delicious beautiful homemade masala and expert cooking, elevates this place to a different level. One of the few places that doesn't just live upto the hype, but surpasses it.
If you are in Pune and looking for authentic Malwani food then head on to 'Guru Sawant's malwani katta. It's a small restaurant with limited seats and has a waiting list mostly on weekends(Worth a wait). Guru Sawant personly greets you and helps with choosing the dish if you have any doubt about it.
I tried the following:-
Starters:-
1. Fried Verle fish- It was hot and crispy from outside and fresh, tender inside. Nothing can be better than starting the meal with such a perfect dish. Recommended!!
2. Kolambi Fry- The dish was prepared with soft and tender prawns. It had special malwani spices touch and fried perfectly.
Mains:-
1. Bangda Thali- The thali consisted of Bangda fish, Fish Curry, Sukat chutney and Solkadhi. Bangda was coated with rawa and perfectly prepared. Fish curry is the best I ever had as the spices used are that of the authentic Malwani masala.
2. Pomfret Thali- The thali consisted of Pomfret fish, Fish Curry, Sukat chutney and Solkadhi.
In short, the thali was worth a wait .
Overall:-
1. Staff is courteous and friendly
2. The restaurant is hygienic and clean.
3. VFM as the ingredients used is of the uppermost quality.
Guru Sawant malvani Katta.. !
Do you want to eat malvani fish curry, fish fry with dry fish(sukkat), rice and bhakri????
The flavors of the western region of Sindhudurg district coastal belt covering Malvan,Kudal, Sawantwadi, Vengurla, and more! A big area..
Here the signature curries look reddish brown ...tangy, sour, chillies n yummy!😋
Malvani cusine uses byadgi chillies, lately using mix with kashmiri chillies for colour, fresh grated coconut and coconut milk, Kokum or tamarind pulp marinating the curry with raw fish for an hour plus or using dry masalas on section of fish cuts #Orgasmic!
Influence of Goan and Karvari style yet retaining their own signature preparations... I am malvani and I love this kind of food😍
What I had here was..
#Bombil_fry (Bombay duck) : super taste, crisp
#Prawn_fry:(medium size Prawns) crisp, fresh, with the tail intack and spot on on flavours!
#Pomfet_fry: low on salt yet good. Used external masalas for taste.
#Solkadhi : Acts as a coolant and refreshing. A bit sweet however doable.
#Surmai_thali : Surmai fish works best with malvani masalas...it was a yummy preparation served with fresh surmai fry, bangda curry with trifala, lasun chutney made with fresh coconut, sukkat, onions, rice bhakri/chappati and rice.
The sukkha was soft and I sent it back. Server came with fresh batch quickly.
#Prawn_thali : Absolutely delicious and delightful ! The curry was spicy. Plenty of prawns and filling.... I will surely come here again for this one 😍 ..!

Please note the place is usually crowded. Once the curry are over, they stop serving. Do have a pan from the panwala who is at the entrance of the outlet to complete your meal!

If you are a seafood lover it is a must visit. Awesome taste, crispy fired prawns is a must have. All the pieces are big or huge . If your appetite is small suggested to share 1/2. Quantity justifies the price.

When I was low, a plate of fried fish is what pepped me up
When I was celebrating, fried fish it was with!
When I broke up, fried fish was my bae
When I binge eat, it is usually a tub of fried fish
When I had a fever, fried fish cured me
When I had a stomach upset, fried fish was the medicine.
Two places in the city where the fried fish is out of the world, and one of the places is Guru Sawant's Malwan Katta
The fried paplet is my most favorite, and it outgrows the thali or my palm - in its size.
Price: As per catch, usually Rs 300 upwards. Better to check the size and price before ordering.
Pictures without filters.
This place was on my bucket list since a long long time..I finally visited this place on a Saturday afternoon typically around 1:30 pm..reading couple of reviews I was expecting the place to be heavily crowded but being lucky I immediately got a table..the menu is pretty limited and being a hardcore prawns fan I decided to have the Kolambi(kolambi)thali because it consists of almost everything one can have in prawns 🍤It consisted of prawns fry, prawns masala, fish curry, choice of Bhakari/roti/rice and sol kadhi😅 to begin with I found the prawns fry a little oily and the batter was not consistent enough to hold on to the prawns but yes they were tasty..the prawns masala was totally yummy and as expected perfect blend of Malvani masala and well cooked prawns..
Overall I loved the experience and the staff is extremely cordial ,the service being on point😍
The best seafood place in pune!!!!
Fresh catch ingredients and friendly service.
Authentication taste.
Special for malwani people feel like home.
Classic place for your sea food cravings.
We had booked a table for nearly ten people for lunch with the owner, and people from different corners of city just popped this place for relishing some good sea food.
We ordered solkadi to begin with along with some fried prawns, wished they served some dip but it was tasty bet you can't stop at one bite.
We ordered another type of fish, I have no idea, never ate earlier but it was good to my surprise.
They have stopped serving chicken or mutton perhaps just for us, he ordered chicken for one of our member, that was really sweet.
We ordered fish thali, pomfret and surmai and prawns thali, they served different gravy for fish and prawns thali i liked the fish more.
Huge pomfret was a star and eye pleaser, we needed some extra space to stuff and finish the meal we ordered.
The owner served us two variety of lost dishes which were immensible and a flavour one can't forget so easily.
Cozy place so don't expect direct space on a weekend, inform for better, as you suit.
A great way to relish your sea food cravings.
After reading good reviews on social media we decided to go for lunch. We called the owner for place and he requested to come as walk in.
When we landed it was a 10 mins wait. They took our orders in advance.
Our order - 3 Bangada thalis and 1 tisarya masala
Food- very yummy, good malvan flavors. The fish curry was yum, sukat (dried shrimp) was good, Fish was fried to perfection and Solkadi was very tasty.
Tisarya masala- Very nicely made.
The food reminded me of my mom.
The host is very welcoming and warm.
Value for money.
Taste wise and price wise is much better than Fish curry Rice for sure.
Kokan uses different spices to retain unique flavor to their cusin and preparation of this hotel surely brings aroma of Malwan region. We ordered bangda tava fry, prawns rava along with Surmai Thali.
Marinated in delicious red masala & Perfectly cooked fresh Fish were served. Big Surmai peace deep fried was served in Thali along with two different flavors of curry that went well with chapatis and rice. Prawns were coated in crisp flavorful covering
Efficient service, guaranteed fresh catch is the USP of this joint
Must try, we had surmai, prawns, bombil fry, bangda fry and it was heaven for fish lovers you get authentic malwani taste. You may have to waiting on weekends as seating is only for 4 teams at once.
Extremely positive review for Guru sawant Malwan katta, Karve Nagar.
Earlier I was someone who used to hate seafood.. but after my visit to Konkan, I started liking it but very choosy about it.
After reading so much positive reviews, I thought let's visit this place. I wanted to take my family and relatives here and didn't want any kind of disappointment and experienced an awesome food with very kind hospitality by Mr. Guru sawant.
Coming to food, we were total 6 non-vegetarian and 1 vegetarian. As per suggestion, opted for 4 surmayi thali and 2 prawns thali.
surmayi thali - wow.. surmayi was properly fried with crisps. It was big in size than expected but we finished it quickly. Surmayi curry, solkadhi ( ek number) chapati and rice.
Fried Prawns - Masta ch. I didn't expected fried prawns actually. I thought thali will have fried fish and prawns curry but surprisingly thali was full of fried prawns and masala bhaji of prawns. I love the masala. Owseome. No words for this masala bhaji.
We had one vegetarian for whome we had already carried some parcel food which was properly served by them. Highly appreciated.
Solkadhi - normally in pune we get sweet Solkadhi which I personally don't prefer but here it was perfect blend of Solkadhi with spices.
We gulp almost 2 to 3 Solkadhi each apart from the one which came with thali.
Last but not least - not any dish but the Owner - Mr Guru Sawant - he personally takes care of each and every thing. He has suggested what should we order as per our likes.. after lunch he told us how he started with this restaurant and more importantly, all the people who work here are the family people who takes special care of pleasing the foodie customer.
Overall -
Rattings - Best
Good - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Friendliness - 5/5
Ambiance - 3.5/5 (since its like a small place... Expecting them to start with big restaurant) but who cares when food is owseome.😁

After some colleagues raved about the food, we decided to try this small place located in Karve Nagar- Guru Sawant's Malvan Katta. Can't believe that this gem was so near my house and i never knew about it! Delicious food, generous quantity, courteous staff, and reasonable rates! Absolute delight for all seafood lovers. We ordered two thalis, prawns thali and surmai thali. Both had fried fish, fish curry, solkadi, rassa, sukat, chapati/bhakri. Two thalis were enough for three of us. We had repeats of the solkadhi because it was soo good and felt all the more heavenly in this heat. A friend who does not eat nonveg (!) tried their malwani wadas, which were tasty as well. Two thalis, one plate of wadas, and 8 solkadhis billed up to just 1000 bucks!
After reading the reviews on PEO about Guru Sawant Malvan katta we decided to visit the place.
I am really happy that we went there. The service was prompt and the staff was courteous. The owner Mr Guru Sawant is humble and softspoken, he personally attended the customers.
Coming to food
We ordered surmai thali, pomfret thali , prawns thali and bombil fry. Believe me its a family working in Kitchen, Homemade food taste in hotel that too so fresh and delicious 🤤

This restaurant is Open. Why it is showing closed on Zomato? Great taste, Authentic food, Fresh fish. Quality of food is great. I will surely go again.
Yesterday evening I finally landed up in this little place in Karvenagar, just had to see what all the hype was about.
We asked them to suggest a starter and the obvious recommendation was Kolambi fry.
The prawns were so well made and with the lemon, it just blew me away.
Then I had the Surmai thali and that was just one of the best seafood experiences I've ever had. The surmai fry portion was huge, both the fry and curry were tasty as hell and the solkadhi too was amazing.
The service was great and they were attentive to us throughout. I guess all those rave reviews I read on PEO were right on the nose. 💯
Edit: The next time I visited, I had the pomfret thali. Service had improved and the pomfret was mind-blowing.
If you are craving for good malvani food, visit 'Guru Sawant's Malvani Katta'.
Best authentic malvani food joint, small but clean ambiance, pleasant and welcoming owners. 😊
Aha.. Masstach.. Very authentic kokani food.. Start was witha warm smile by Owner Guru Sawant. Must try Surmai thali and kolambi fry.. Fresh and very Tasty.. After one decade i found the taste of my mom's food in pune. Highly recommend this place. And Just keep in mind this only non-veg place.
This place is literally heaven for sea food lovers....the fish cooked here is soooooooo fresh and authentic Konkani malwani style....simply loved it.....I thought I am eating in some village of sindhudurg or ratnagiri....only one suggestion ...make the curry little bit thick..rest is perfect
A place to have decent sea food in Pune. We tried their Pomfret thali, Surmai thali and kolambi thali. The fish was fresh and tasty. Service was warm. Overall had a wonderful experience.
#AwesomeFood #HappyKiddos
एकाच शब्दात सांगतो
'क......ड...... क' 👍👍👍👍
trust me, I have never had such an amazing sea food in Pune before.
The size of fish here is much bigger than the other seafood restaurants. Total value for money
आणि हो, गुरू सावंत...मोठ्ठी जागा बघा...फार गरज आहे 😅😅
Hygiene - 5/5
Service - 4/5
Food -4.5 /5
VFM - 4.5/5
I have tried prawn thali, surmai fry, bangda fry. Unfortunately bombil fry and jawla bhaji was not available on that day. Regarding food I will say Fried fish was good. Curry was ok
Very homely vibes all thru. Bit congested but the food quality, freshness and preparation take over everything else. Ladies of the family are slogging it away inside the kitchen and so one knows one is at the right place. Prawn thali was for the gods. Rassa for those in heaven. Rawa fried prawns were oily maybe coz the oil wasn't hot enough as we went almost at closing time. Overall? Superb.
Visited after learning about all the buzz this place has created these days. The place is small to accomodate many at a time with hArdly 4 tables inside and a big one placed outside. Something I would like to mention specifically is that the owner himself along with his wife puts in a lot of hard work to prepare all the thalis. This perhaps is the only reason that they yeild such amazing taste. We ordered the prawns and surmai thali. The surmai thali was pretty good with a massive surmai fry piece , solkadi , chapati , rice, sukat chutney and the fish curry. Everything was pretty tasty except for the curry which I found to be very watery unlike the authentic malvani one which is thicker in consistency as compared to what was served. However since the place offers unlimited curry its fine that way. The prawns thali had prawns fry, prawns masala , rice, chapati ,solkadhi and sukat chutney. The prawns masala was worth it!
All in all a nice place for the sea food lovers again at an economical price!
Waaa... Agadi konknat basun aswad gheto ahe asa vatala...kya baat. Taste pan agadi bharich hoti... Must try Bangda Fry, Kolambi Fry, and of course Surmai thali with Bhakhari.
This is a hidden gem of sea food. Super affordable and one of the best fish curry, Malvan katta ticks all the right boxes. The fish are fresh and freshly prepared. You will not be disappointed by any of the dishes on the menu. The Prawns thali is a must try. Once you see the prices, you will not believe your eyes. This place is a must visit for all the sea food lovers. For people who do not like fish, can visit and try out their chicken thali and malvan chicken handi. Lip smacking delicacies at pocket friendly prices.
My favorite restaurant for gavran chicken is hotel jagdamba in khed shivapur, I never loved fish anywhere than at my house because my mom is the best fish cook but yesterday when I visited malwan katta on my friend's(vijay jadhav) recommendation. I enjoyed every bit of fry fish and curry. I tried surmai, prawns and bangda. all of them were exceptionally well prepared. Best part is that fish is fresh and it is tava fried. Now I also have a favorite fish restaurant. Thanks Guru Sawant..I think people like you do not run restaurant to make profit but to spread happiness. ☺️
Sawants's Malwan Katta is a must visit place if you want to taste authentic Malwani Cuisine. Spices and taste is perfect. We had Jawla Bhaji, Prawns Fry, Surmai Thali, Pompret Thali and Sol Kadi. Don't miss Sol Kadi here because it's the best one.
This is (or will be :-)) one of the best seafood places in Pune!! A small restaurant having around 4-5 tables located in Karve Nagar.
The appearance of the food, its quality as well as taste deserve a 5/5.
We were a group of 10 people and visited them for the first time. We had Surmai thali, Pomfret thali, Chicken thali and Veg thali (for veg you have to intimate them in advance so that they can keep the food ready as this is a speciality non veg restaurant). Everything was great. Additionally, we also had Surmai fry and Prawns fry. Ambience is ordinary. But, the service is great.
Everything was served hot. Chapatis were very soft. The curry/gravy (even the chicken) were not too spicy and yet had a wonderful taste.
With all this, it is not at all heavy on the pocket. The pricing is decent.
More visits definitely!
We came to know that they will be relocating to a new place (nearby) in a couple of weeks which is bigger and better in terms of seating and ambience. Good luck!
Malwan Katta (मालवणी कट्टा) in Karve Nagar by Guru Sawant is totally VFM place for Seafood lovers😍😍😍
Here is what I would like to highlight :
- They have some serious authentic malwani recipes
- Place is run by family
- Owners is so passionate for food that he left his IT job and started restaurant
- Small place with basic ambience but they are moving to new big place in next week
We started with chilled glass of solkadhi followed by :
#PrawnsThali/कोळंबी थाळी [300 Rs] : which comes with Prawns Fry, Prawns Masala, Fish curry, Rice Flour Bhakri(तांदळाची भाकरी ) or Chapati, Rice, Solkadhi
#SurmaiThali/ सुरमाई थाली [250 Rs ] which comes with Fish curry Surmai Fry, Rice Flour Bhakri (तांदळाची भाकरी ) or Chapati, Rice, Solkadhi
Fish/prawns were fresh, well marinated +cooked in homely malvani recipes to give unique flavors.
Shallow fry "Prawns & Surmai" were nicely done with delicately flavored.
I just ❤️ Curries : "Prawns Masala" ( brown curry made roasted coconut with malwani spices ) & "Fresh coconut based Yellow Bangda curry" : both were delicious & piquant.
Current Place is small (around 5-6 tables) with basic ambience and as its run by family. They personally make sure that everything is fine.
Overall : Looking at price point and food they served : this place is worth try for Malwani Seafood..!!!
Location : Spencer's Chowk, Near Shri Ram Dairy, Karve Nagar (new location is 2 mins walk )
Foof at Guru Sawant Malwan Katta is Excellent. Service is very good. You get homely feel while eating here. Fresh fish. Yummy test. Cool ambience
This is going to be future Gem of Pune !
Had taken a parcel of Surmai fry after reading owners story in local news paper and to our surprise it was awsome fish fry.
Nice masala (not over do) along with right amount of taste with not much deep fried or spicy.. Perfect for evening starter... My daughter even eat it fully.
Interesting story of owner leaving a IT Manager job to start something he is passionate about. The masala are prepared by lady of house so you can easily find its not spicy but still very tasty even suitable for all age group.
Must try...

If you want to enjoy traditional Konkan Fish, which is close to homemade food this is the right place. We ordered prawns fry, Surmai Fry, Tisrya Thali, crabs thale and Kombadi Wdae. All the dishes were perfect to the taste. The fried surmai was a bit oily but perfect in taste. You can request them if you want less oil and also if you want more gravy instead of dry one. The prefect things was the Solkadhi which was mind blowing. It’s also very affordable. If you love fish this is a place to visit.
Great place for fish lovers, must try! The taste, quality and size of fish in thali is just so good. One of the best solkadhi in pune, and a freshly made in house welcome drink (nival) is So good.
Good food good service and good taste.
I had heard about this place from a couple of people about their taste and o was surprised that every dish was good.
We ordered for
1. Pomfret fry - awesome taste and very yummy and perfectly cooked
2. Mandeli fry - had been craving for good mandeli fry for a long time and this place gave me the satisfaction with their preparation.
3. Prawns rawa fry - this dish tastes generally the same everywhere and I haven’t seen anyone failed in preparing this dish
4. Crab thali - the crab was good and the masala was good but something I felt was missing in my plate. I was satisfied with the taste but wasn’t satisfied with the variety served in the thali.
5. Solkadi - the only fail item I felt was their solkadi amongst all which I feel they should work on as this is the 1st order that many people prefer ordering.
Overall had a good meal and content with what I had. Will visit again for more dishes.
The place service is amazing they help you with complete information about fish they serve. The price are also fine.
The taste is amazing and great quantity too. Complete thali of fish contains 2 Roti, 2 curry, 1 sol kadi and one main big fish.
Its accurately located on the maps and right around the main road.
If you're around and a big fan of fish then its a do visit place for you.
Cheers.
Authentic Malvani food, specially I visited for Surmai and pomfret fry. Thali found to be the best. Sea food always cost high compared to other non veg menus. Fish found pleasant and fresh. Dint found the same taste at other franchises. Place is bit congested but one can manage to sit and enjoy meal. Parking roadside.
Wonderful place to have malwani food. All fish items were fresh, not too much spicy. Food was flavorful and service was good too. We tried pomfret Thali and prawns fry. Both dishes were quite tasty.

The food quality was nice and authentic konkani. but it is a little bit heavy for the pocket. But if you are a true seafood lover it will be a good option for you.

Overall must visit place for a fish lover.
I ordered Prawn Thali and Bangada Thali. Prawn thali was the best. Quantity of prawns are quite nice. It is authentic Malavani restaurant with good taste, and the best part is that they serve Tandalachi Bhakri. It's affordable also. Quantity is also good. Staff was very friendly.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
A small outlet. Very crowded on weekend's. I have read several reviews of this outlet on PEO and wanted to visit this place. 'Athiti Devo Bhava"... this is how a customer is treated at this restaurant. Every customer is personally attended by Mr. Guru Sawant. We waited around 15 to 20 minutes to be seated.
Coming to the amazing Fish Thali we had here:
Prawns thali - Peth bhar gaya par mann nahi. The fish used was very fresh. I was in love with the prawns curry served in the thali it was very very delicious and spicy just like the way I wanted it to be. The prawns fry was tooo good! The rice bhakri was perfect. They served unlimited rassa. I loved the coconut chutney that was served. In Kerala also we make similar chutney. Steaming hot rice was served at the end which I relished with the chutney and rassa. We finished our meal with Solkadi. I was so curious to know the recipe for prawns curry... Mr. Guru was very polite and gave me a rough idea of how it was made. He told me to visit again during a week day and he would share the details. This was priced at Rs. 370/-.
Surmai Thali - my husband ordered this. Priced at 400/- this thali was also very good! The Surmai fry was very delicious.
Prema khush hui....It was worth the money!! Will visit again soon!

Got a table on a weekend after a good 15min of wait time. But it was worth it. Their Surmai Thali, Bombil Fry, Egg Thali are a must try. Solkadi needs a bit of spark. Rest a great place to visit to satisfy your taste buds
I’m eating fish for last many years but haven’t really had a satisfied fish thali till this date. Today happen to have fantastic Surmai fish thali and pomfret fry at ‘ Guru Sawant Malvan Katta’
It is authentic fresh and very satisfying. One should definitely try this place!
We ordered suramai and promplet thali. Both were good in taste. Fish size is also large.
The best place to have authentic sea food in pune. I tried surmai thali, prawns thali, pomphret thali, bombil fry. Everything was fantastic
