Great place for pure hardcore non-vegetarians. The mutton really tastes great and beautifully cooked. The thali consists of the mutton, kheema, rassa, and alni soup, with a choice of jowar bhakri or chapati. The place also gives you an option of unlimited thali. The quality of food served, justifies the cost. The service though, is a bit slow. Unlike other thali places, here , they also have desert section the menu. The ambience created with the medieval interiors is great.
Dakkhan restaurant is located on Prabhat Road in Lane No 7. Dakkhan serves traditional Maharashtrian style cuisine. The external appearance of the restaurant itself looks very attractive and once you enter the seating area it feels warm and pleasant. The décor of this restaurant is very elegant and the wooden tables and chairs make seating comfortable. Dakkhan restaurant is pretty famous for their unlimited Veg & Non Veg thali’s and they have now introduced a la carte dishes in their menu.Service was prompt, restaurant was hygienic. Staff was courteous and friendly. The copper cutlery used in the restaurant is really very nice. Seating is comfortable. There was nice music played in the background which was pleasant.
Another delightful little off-the-beaten-track "find" in Pune to enjoy a quiet meal or conversation. Cozy, attractive, and clean. And very peaceful music, low in volume -- something I'm always appreciative of in a restaurant.
The focus here is Maharashtrian cuisine, but I think those looking for a healthy meal would also want to know about this place, judging by my sprout dish (dahl kanda), yogurt and onions (makri usal), and sorghum roti (jawal bakhri).
My only star markdown is due to the menus. They all looked quite soiled, for one thing. For another, only Marathi names were given for the menu choices. Fortunately, the manager was helpful in translation. The dishes were very tasty, though I hadn't expected the sprouts to be in so much liquid, more like a soup than a solid entrée.
I would definitely consider bringing friends back another time, perhaps to enjoy the front patio. Although I saw only one table, there must be more, as there's enough space for several.
I was here on Saturday and I am very glad that this is pure Maharashtraian cusine restaurant all the recipes are ancestral and being passed from generation to generation. The food quality is very good and also the ambience is very good. I really loved there srikhanda (dessert) I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good food
Awesome place ... Quaint and serene ambience ... Makes you go back to another period ... Very well done interiors ... Staff is very friendly... Food is lip smacking ... Too delicious to handle ... If you are a meat lover, then this place has to be on your priority ... Must visit for all the foodies out there ... The desert is to die for... You just can't stop at once ...
Fantastic ... Must visit.

Update 1 September 2018. They have started breakfast menu. Kheema patties, Kheema samosas, Misal, Sabudana Vada, Sabudana Khichadi, Kheema Pav and Filter coffee. Now it has become one of the better places for breakfast as well.
Nice place for Maharashtrian style mutton and chicken unlimited thali. A bit overpriced. Consistency in quality & good service lacking.
A must try restaurant for Maharashtrian food lover.... Special mutton sukkha and Briyani had astonishing taste
Awesome food.
घरच्या सारखी चव!!
Bit expensive, but worth it.
Excellent food, attentive service, comfortable ambience, what's not to like?
We also liked the old fashioned copper and steel tableware - plates, cups, spoons etc. Goes quite well with the overall theme of old world Maharashtrian food and decor.
We had the chicken biryani which had just the right amount of spice without being overpowering. The portion size was generous, sufficient for the two of us. YMMV depending upon appetite, of course.
Please note this is off Prabhat Road, so there is no dedicated parking. You could park in the street, but it is a hit and miss game depending on day of week.
I must have to recommend this newly opened restaurant in Wakad. For starter we ordered Chicken Fry & in main course Pomfret & Prawns Thali, it's having a surprising Authentic taste, and most generous thing is no food colors at all. Solkadi was so fresh, it is a part of seafood thali. Wonderful ambiance for family. I must say Non Veg Lovers don't miss this restaurant. Ordered Butter Chicken with Parota and Chicken Tandoori. Loved the dishes very much. It leaves a very good taste in the mouth. It's reasonably priced. Its a wonderful place, with peaceful ambiance.
Good place for Maharashtrian food but no more options are available in menu. Selective dishes are there but the taste and atmosphere was damn good❤ loved it. And at affordable price...
The Mystic Masala at the Taj Blue Diamond, Pune offers a great North Indian menu and a even better selection of traditional Maharashtrian dishes. The attentive F&B staff is very helpful in explaining each and every dish to you to enable you to make a good choice. Highly recommended. slightly hidden from the hotel lobby. this restaurant has outdoor as well as indoor seats. a very sumptuous and wholesome fare
