The chicken tandoor and harissa tandoor were delicious...taste was great with all that juicy taste of spices ,well cooked chicken..good staff and service👍🏻😉
Great food!! Great service!! The staff was courteous and prompt in service. We tried chicken starter and they were delicious.
Good service keep it up.!!
Whatt a place maannnn! Zindagi ka maja kahi hai to bas yahi hai! Must hear recommendations of food and drinks by captain. Great service even owner is also very friendly!
Agar firdaus barr ruh ae zameen ..... Hami aasto haami aasto haami aasto!
Mughal Sarai has made JM Road to eat in..!!!
Craving for Mughlai Food then you are the right place! And if you have Zomato Gold then it's cherry on the top! Finding parking in this lane is bit difficult tho! The ambience is quite good! The need to work on staff tho, as the waiter was not ready to listen to my order and was in a hurry! And this was damn insulting tho! Just rating it 4 because of the staff as the food is really brilliant!
Chicken Banjara Kebab( 4.5/5)
Kebabs were well cooked and super tasty!
Chicken Tikka (4.5/5)
The Paneer Was really very soft and yes I would say veg people must order it!
Butter Chicken (4.5/5)
Butter Chicken is very sweet as the way I like with lot of cream! Even the quantity of butter Chicken was really good!
Great place to have Mughlai Food In Pune!
This is a potentially good restaurant which can serve well if you are looking for a place to go and eat with your family or friends. I went here on weekend and surprisingly even after being at a prime location like JM Road it was vacant. They serve Veg, Non Veg and Chinese food. They also have a bar. The interior is pleasing and well maintained. The place was really clean and tidy. Staff was polite, didn't make any issue about me choosing a table by going around the place. The food is little spicy but it is tasty. I recommend this for sure.
Highly recommended

Thank u so much many more to try
Good food, Impeccable service, and lovely family vibes!
One of the best Cream of Tomato soups I’ve had in quite a while in Pune..
Thicker smoothie-esque consistency, good solid portion and great flavour.
The Paneer Lababdar had a rich saffron gravy and soft Paneer cubes. Wish it had more Paneer in it and that it should have been tandoor-smoked before being cooked in the gravy. Nonetheless, tasted absolutely brilliant.
The Dal Bukhara was a tad bit sweet(not too much) and had way too much buoyant oil , which let us down. I also couldn’t taste the smokiness in it. Not bad, but not good either..
My wife felt like having a bowl of Hakka noodles , and guess what, they hit it out of the park!
Excellent street-style Hakka noodles packed with lovely bellpeppers and chives. ‘chindian’ food at its very best..
Our folks also had some non-veg grub which was on point too.
Brownie points for the quick footed and efficient service!
The space is brightly lit, so that you can actually see what you are eating ;)
Rains and soft Bollywood music being belted out live, made for a really pleasant family meal on a Saturday night.
My friend devendra tiwari called me on this new and hidden place, we came with family and got full of enjoy definitely will come again and recommend to other thanks devendra once again
Went with my family. As we entered were quite apprehensive as there were no customers but later enjoyed the food. The best thing was the freshness of the vegetables and chicken used. Good food
Good place to go with family and friends. We have a birthday party in the 25 people capacity hall. The arrangements was very nice and to our satisfaction. Definitely recommendable to every one to visit and enjoy!
The food is brilliant! We went here with a group of friends expecting average food. But, even the simplest dishes were made delicious. We loved it. Murg ki Raseed and Daal Bukhari were the star of the evening.
Visited this place sarai nice ambiance good music to someone feel calm I was there at Sharp
8.30 pm i order chicken Angara it was amazing fresh and juicy everything is on time my table good experience ☺☺☺☺👍👍👍👌👌👌
Change in plan at last moment!
It leads our hungry group to this restaurant.
Quite nice ambiance, good service but the Food was average. As we were at end of our meal some annoying music starts playing.
The place is where the old portico restaurant was there on JM road... Ambiance is OK not so great but definitely good for family.. They have live music also... Food is awesome and the staff you will see in the restaurant is young and very polite... Food is slightly expensive but very tasty... Kebabs and tandoors are finger licking... We had chicken biryani which is sufficient for three people and it is very tasty....
Mughal Sarai as the name goes is extremely specialised in serving the best north Indian food you can get in Pune . They have profoundly opened 3 outlets in the Pune region.
I tried the buffet they proudly boast about. Everyone should try the buffet atleast once. Loved it so much .Very friendly staff, great respect for the service personnel and the kitchen staff where there wasn't even a delay of a second for the enzyme service to start.
Very impressed with the whole outlet in all and I think they are unequalled, do visit them ✨
Mughal sarai is located in jm road and serves mughlai cuisine which is very rare in that area, the place has a pretty ambiance with comfortable sofa as well as chair seatings, the place has a huge variety of dishes in their menu which gives you lot of options to choose which is really important thing in a restaurant.
Coming on to the food which i tried here:
1)MURGH ANGARA:This was boneless chicken marinated in curd, mustard oil and indian spices, the chicken was soft, moist and the flavours went deep inside the chicken and was little spicy which came really good on palate.
2)DAHI KE KEBAB:This was crispy fried kebabs stuffed with yoghurt the kebabs were fried in a very little amount of oil and had a nice tangy and creamy taste, this dish was really good and came well on the palate.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
3)MURGH BANJARA KEBAB:This was creamy and little spicy kebab marinated in indian spices it had nice texture and the spices came really good on the palate.
4)MUTTON ROGAN JOSH:This was a dark rich mutton curry flavoured with rattanjot and saffron,it had nice flavour and the mutton was really well cooked in the gravy, this dish was really good in flavour and taste along with the richness.
5)NALLI NIHARI:This was mutton shank simmered in aromatic spices, the mutton was very well cooked and had a little spicy taste which came really good on the palate.
Top five reasons to visit this place:
1)This place serves mughlai cuisine which is very rare in that area.
2)This place serves enough portion size of dishes which fill's three people's stomach at a time.
3)The place has a ambiance which is comfortable to family as well as date.
4)The place serves good quality food which has taste and richness.
5)The place gives quick service and you don't have to wait for a long time for your dish.
Good food ambience and service. Good menu option. Overall recommended. Awesome service good taste biriyani is good starter option would like to visit again this place. .....
Mughal sarai specially serves authentic north indian food and they have three outlets in pune. They are located in kharadi, khondwa and JM road. The main thing that attracted me is the huge seating space that accommodates 90+ people! The seating space is divided into 2 sections that is one for family and one for the bar. They have a smoking section too!
SOUPS :
Tomato Basil : This soup gave an extraordinary touch to the ordinary tomato soup. One would have never thought basil would have perfectly mixed with this soup. The creamy texture made it more tasty!
Manchow Soup : This soup was lesser of a soup and more of a curry with more amount of filling as compared to the liquid texture. If this soup had lesser filling it would have reached up to the mark.
STARTERS :
Murg Angara : The kebab was initially marinated in curd and mustard oil with assorted indian spices but as the name suggested the flavours weren't upto the mark as we expected.
Murg Ki Rasheed : Chicken thigh cut in a secret marination and barbecued perfectly. It was marinated perfectly that tasted really good!
Mahi Tikka : The freshly cut pieces were marinated in mustard which gave a tangy touch to it! Loved each and every bite of it
Dahi Ke Kebab : The hung curd and cottage cheese which were marinated with assorted indian spices which was fried till it turned golden brown which tasted perfect with mint chutney. Highly recommended!
MAINS :
Murg Beugum Bahar : Minced pieces of chicken dipped in gravy made in tomato puree which was topped with boiled egg. The gravy gave a sweet flavour due to tomato puree present in it. This authentic mughlai gravy was a win win for me!
Mutton Nalli Nihari : Fine pieces of mutton shanks which was blended with indian spices which gave an aromatic flavour. Must have dish over here!
Mutton Rogan Josh : Mutton pieces were finely chopped in a fluidy gracy which had a aroma of onion and indian spices which was blended perfectly!
BREADS :
Wheat Tandoor Roti : The basic roti which never goes wrong with any of our indian gravy!
Cheese Chilli Garlic Naan : Here the naan was stuffed with cheese and topped with garlic, chilli and coriander although it was a bit thick which made it difficult to chew and gulp down!
DESSERTS :
We had Malai kulfi, Kesar kulfi and Peru kulfi out of which malai and kesar kulfi turned out to be best!
OVERALL VERDICT :
Overall i loved the authenticity of the kebabs and mains. Would come back again for sure :)
Mughal Sarai is a well-known brand which is popular for its North Indian food. Everyone knows about this restaurant as they serve some great kebabs and biryanis. If you'll look into the restaurant overview it shows that this restaurant serves a great combination of North Indian, Chinese and Continental. If you're bored of having kebabs and biryani you can opt for Pasta and pizza with a good range of Ice creams.
The Jm road one is a bit hidden as it's hard to see from the outside as the road is quite full of restaurants. Once you get inside there are 2 main sections. One for family and one open section with live bar counter, they also have 2 separate smoking zone for each section which I found quite interesting. The restaurant can easily accommodate 90-93 people at a time.
Let's get started with the food now -
Soup Section -
Tomato Dhaniya Shorba - The shorba was bit thicker as per the name and had a nice texture overall. The tomato puree was blended perfectly with the basil and gave a nice flavor to the soup. The basil hint was strong and it did compliment the tangy sweetish flavor of the tomato. The creamy taste of the soup started our journey on a positive note.
Manchow Soup - I like my machow soup a bit stronger on the flavor side. The Manchow soup we had here was good but on the milder side also the fillings were a bit on the extra side than that of broth. The ratio of filling to the broth was very bad. Which ended up overpowering the dish structure. The broth had mild flavors which I felt could've been better with a slight tweak.
Kebab -
Murgh Angara - This kebab is supposed to be spicier one which was not the case here. The chicken was bit overcooked which made it chewy but others had no issue with the meat, I think I had the overcooked piece of meat. The marination was simple and it had a slightly spicy taste. The needed flavors were missing.
Murgh Ki rashid - This one is house special dish. In this preparation, Thai bone is used which is marinated in the turmeric mixture. The meat was super juicy and had minimal mariantion again. The slight tick of turmeric flavor was everywhere and it was a bit hot.
Mutton Chaap - This was totally burnt and redone like twice. The meat was clearly burnt and the remaining one was greasy but in a bad way. We didn't eat as it wasn't looking good also.
Mutton seekh kebab - The seekh you get here is on the dry version. The minced meat was quite dry and thicker than expected and the flavors were a bit on the stronger side than expected.
Dahi Ke Kebab - The dahi ke kebab was a clear winner of our starter section. The coating was soft which is there to hold the filling and inside it was all heavenly delicious melt in the mouth curd filling. The filling had a doughy consistency and it was on the tangier side, went perfect with mint chutney.
Mains -
Murgh Begam Bahar - An egg-based Mughlai dish which was on the thicker consistency and had a nice sweetish flavor. The creamy egg really helped the dish to balance out the taste. The chicken chunks were cooked perfectly and also it had cream to give a nice soft touch. The gravy also had some small crushed chicken chunks in it. The gravy had a nice balanced taste of garam masala and other spices used.
Murgh Lahori - The name itself says the gravy will be on the spicier side. This one was much thicker than that of the other chicken gravy and the flavors were equally good too. The dominating taste of pepper made it on the hotter side which I loved personally.
Mutton Nalli nihari - One of their best sellers. The gravy is on the thicker side and had a good huge layer of fat on top of thicker gravy. This one was loaded with flavor blast and spices hit really hard when you take a sip of gravy. Goes well with the roti or naan.
Mutton Rogan Josh - A bit watery gravy compared to nalli nihari. This one was onion based and the spices hit a bit later and it was on much milder side than that of nalli nihari.
Overall Verdict - Overall the food you get here is good. We gave our feedback to the manager about the kebabs and will definitely comeback for the mains as it were just perfect.

Mughal Sarai
Mugal Sarai is located on JM road and serves North Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance; the seating is comfortable and has a capacity of around 90 pax. The menu focuses more on Mughlai and North Indian food preparations.
Soup
Tomato Basil: The soup was superb in taste, nice hint of basil. It was slightly thin in consistency than usual and it did impress me a lot. #Highlyrecommended
Manchow: The soup was hot and spicy and good in taste but it had too much of chicken pieces in it. The feedback was shared with the management.
Starters
Dahi Ke Kebab: Kebabs made of finely minced paneer and curd was superb in taste. It literally melted in the mouth. It was served along with green chutney which was also nicely done. Highly recommended for vegetarians.
Murg Angara: Boneless chicken pieces done in a marination with slight spicy hint were good in taste. The chicken was well cooked. #Recommended
Murgh Ki Rasheed: Full portion of chicken leg piece done in a flavorful marination was excellent in taste. The chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. #Highlyrecommended
Mahi Tikka: Rawas fish cubes done in a medium spicy marination were superb in taste, it had mild ajwain flavor and the fish was properly cooked. #Recommended.
Murgh Banjara: It was good in taste. I was expecting this dish to be spicy but it was medium spicy. The chicken was tender and juicy.
Mains
Murg Beguam Bahar: This is chef specialty dish where chicken with bone is cooked in a tomato based rich gravy along with finely minced chicken pieces, it was superb in taste, The gravy was creamy and medium spicy in taste and was topped with boiled eggs pieces. #Highlyrecommended.
Chicken Lahori: The gravy was extremely flavorful; it was rich, velvety and slightly spicy, it went well along with Naan and Roti. #Highlyrecommend
Chicken Biryani: The chicken biryani had well cooked long grain basmati rice along with well marinated chicken pieces in it; however the biryani had too strong flavors and was too much greasy. It was full of masala, although I like biryani with more masala but the absence of plain rice made it oily and didn’t suit my taste buds. The raita which was served along with it was excellent in taste.
Desserts
We tried Mix Fruit Kulfi, Kesar Pista Kulfi, Guava Kulfi all were super in taste. Mix fruit and Guava kulfi were my best picks.
Overall: Service was prompt, restaurant was hygienic. The rates are reasonable and quantity is sufficient for 2-3 people. The staff was polite and friendly. Thanks a lot Team Mugal Sarai for hosting us. Parking can be a bit troublesome because of less available space after the reconstruction of JM Road pathway.
INTRODUCTION
Mughal Sarai the name itself defines the place and the cuisine which will be served over there. This place has 3 Branches one on the Kondhawa, JM road and Kharadi. This branch is located right next to the petrol pump on the JM road. They specialize in the Mughal cuisine and north Indian food.
AMBIENCE
The ambience of this place is bit cozy. The total occupancy of the place is 93 people. This place has 2 smoking zones. It has a centrally located bar counter. The ambience has bit hint of Mughal touch to it. The ambience is almost identical to the Kondhawa branch.
FOOD
APPETIZERS
Manchow Soup
One of the most loved soup by the Indians. This soup has bellpeppers, carrots and some cabbage finely chopped. This was having perfect taste from the soy sauce. It had the taste of the stock of the chicken and veggies. This was a perfect start to the meal.
Tomato Basil Soup
One fantastic tomato soup I had after a long time. This was having a fine taste of basil to it. The tomato soup was having the perfect tang from the tomato and a nice creamy texture to it. The basil elevated the flavours more and hint of peppery taste to it.
Dahi Ke Kebab
This kebab is made from hung curd with some black pepper and hint of cardamom. This curd is is wrapped with bread and then dipped fried. One of the good dahi kebab were these one. It was having the perfect sourness of the curd and hint of the spice taste. The bread coating was crisp and the moist curd filling. This is must try for the vegetarians
Murgh Banjara
This is a kebab which is made from a bit of garam masala, turmeric, ginger garlic paste. This was then charred in tandoor. The chicken was cooked well and was tender. But this kebab had some red chilli powder taste to it which I don’t expect in this kebab. It had more spicy flavour to it.
Murgh Angara
This is a spicy version of the chicken tikka masala. The angara has a marination of hang curd, red chilli, a bit black pepper and mustard oil. This was having that spice level which is need but in this some pieces where cooked properly and some were undercooked. This may be due to uneven distribution of heat.
Murgh ki raseed
This were chicken thighs marinated with their secret spices and hint of coriander taste to it. The chicken was marinated perfectly and cooked very well. The thighs were tender and succulent. I could get the flavours same like the banjara kebab with some taste of coriander to it. This was having less spiciness to it.
Mutton Seekh Kebab
Seekh kebab is made from mutton mince mixed with spices and ginger garlic. The mince of the mutton was not that fine which we expect. This had more dominate flavour of the garlic and the garam masala rather than the meat. The meat was bit dry it would be lovelier if it was having some moisture to it.
Mutton Chops
As I saw the chops, it were burnt. They have kept the chops in the tandoor for very long time which just burnt them of. The bone of the chop was also burnt so you could think what must have happen to the meat. Still I took a taste of the chops these were completely opposite to the seekh kebab, very less spiced. This needs to have some spice flavour rather than the seekh having that spiciness.
Mahi Tikka
This was a fish tikka made of ravas fish. This was having a prominent taste of the mustard and turmeric to it. I loved that they dint overpower the spices in this fish tikka. The fish taste was there and we get nice mild spices after taste. This was most well balanced dish in the all the appetizers I tried.
MAINS
Mutton Roganjosh
Mutton roganjosh is an onion based curry, it’s a typical north Indian style curry. As they stated they have used ratanjot, Ratanjot is plant which is mainly used to add that red colour to the curry. The main flavour of this gravy was from the garam masala, ginger garlic, hint of coriander powder and the main red chilli along with hint of saffron to it. The mutton was surprising tender. First you get the oily flavour but as you dig in more you get have garam masala and red chilli spiciness of the curry.
Nalli Nihari
A warning if you don’t like oily food avoid this dish, it has lots of oil in it. Nalli Nihari is also an onion based curry made with mostly mutton fat oil and after that hot oil is pour on the top. The mutton was cooked very well in this curry to. The curry had a same taste like Roganjosh but had a extra pepper flavour to it.
Murgh Beguam Bahar
This was their speciality dish in the chicken section. This was an onion tomato based curry. It was a curry having chicken with bone along with chicken mince and its garnished with boiled egg. The chicken was cooked properly and the mince was were fine in this curry. This was more of a thick curry. The prominent taste of garam masala was there in this curry. Spice level was medium.
Biryani
First thing I noticed that this was very wet or soggy kind of biryani. The moisture in the biryani was left which ruin the experience of the biryani. The second thing I notice was there was no plain white rice only masala coated rice. I felt it was kind of pulav rather than biryani. It had that onion base taste to the masala but I could only taste the garam masala in it. This was having only garam masala taste to it.
VERDICT
This place mostly should concentrate on serving Mughal and North Indian food rather than serving Pasta which was there in the menu. I felt that all the Starters had the same taste a bit of taste difference in each. The main course was much good than the starters I feel. Biryani needs to improve. Their food can be great if they take a bit more efforts to correct it. one thing I felt, which I usually don’t feel even after having lots of food that, I was pack and feeling heavy and bloaty. The service also needs to get a bit fast.
♥️great place in taste as well as ambience. We ordered veg as well as non veg .The food was super tasty.the kababs the platers.....and the mocktails.🥂
Awesome taste!! With ZomatoGold......you can find this place reasonable on pricing. Overall ambience is also nice. Just need a place to park.
Mughal sarai, liked the food especially the platter, liked the way they kept the kebabs juicy and succulent, which wasn't expected usually the kebabs i tried were dry but the chef made kebabs just drool worthy, also liked the mocktails made, also the thing which dissappointed me a bit was the biryani it was good but not upto the point also I felt the masala was less.
Excellent food quality and the staff is very generous
The tandoori chicken was amazing😍
Also the ambience and cleanliness was good.
Overall a had a great experience here
A good place to visit with family and friends. The food is good , we had Punjab food .The taste is nice and place as well. Chinese is not that good.
Ambience is pretty good!Must try!
Mughal Sarai
SEATING ARRANGEMENT & SERVICE : (3.5 / 5 )
Decent seating arrangement. Don’t go with the name, as you wont look like any resemblance to mughal style decor but yes, ambiance is great here. Service is good.
Now for Appetizers,
we had
MURGH ACHARI TIKKA ( 3.5 /5 )
Chicken marinated in a pickle flavour herb and is cooked in tandoor. The chicken was well cooked and had the tangy flavour
Then moving to mains,
DAL DARBARI ( 4 /5 )
The most interesting part of it was the addition of garlic in it. This yellow dal along with hint of garlics goes well with rice.
JEERA RICE ( 3.5 /5 )
Rice tossed with oil and jeera, garnished with celery leaves.
MURG HYDERABADI DUM BIRYANI ( 4 /5 )
Our all time favourite, biryani with Dum style cooking. Marinated chicken cooked along with rice in slow based cooking process. The preparations were upto the mark and the rice had all the flavours in it.
Moved to desserts,
SIZZLING BROWNIE WITH ICE CREAM ( 4.5 / 5 )
Brownie made up of chocolate , Top with vanilla ice cream. Served in sizzler plate and chocolate syrup is poured on the top of ice cream and brownie.
MALAI KULFI ( 4.5 / 5)
Nothing can beat the desi flavoured dessert. Slice of malai kulfi presented on plate.
Food was great. All chicken gravys are boneless (which is my preference) also the taste was good. Portion size is also enough.
Main part for my attraction to this place was the alcohol is sort of cheaper in rates in comparison to some better looking restaurants.
All-in-all good place. Deducted one star because the ambience isn't too good and has scope for improvement.
Been here with family on Bhaiduj. We had booked the place so getting a table wasn't an issue. For starters we had murgh yakhni soup and murg harissa. The chicken was good and well cooked and so was the soup. For. Main course, we had mutton rogan josh along with naan. I musy say that usually I avoid eating mutton outside but I went for it this time and I wasn't disappointed. Overall the food was good but the service was on the slower side. Also, the captain was running out of patience when we asked for options or suggestions. Apart from that it was a good experience.
Absolutely loved their Chicken Seekh Kebabs and Nizami Subz Biryani.
Courteous staff and a perfect place for dinner with family.
Much better and lighter on the pocket than other similar restaurants in the area.
Last minute plan to kill our hunger leads us to this restaurant.
Even though it is named as Mughal Sarai,Ambience does not reflect any kind of royal vibes. But it's decent .
We ordered Lahori Murg with Tandoori Roties.
Lahori Murg was adequate spicy in taste. It was having generous amount of boneless chicken pieces.
Chicken was soft & tender.
Gravy was tasty but lil oily & watery.
Tandoori Roties were good.
Overall dining experience was good.
Prices are little on higher side.Maybe because of its location.
Can give it a try once.
Beautiful Place and Ambience..
Romantic Music..
Toooooo Good Service and Staff..
Delicious Food..
Visited almost 5 Times in 2 months..
Pehle We use to visit bcz of Gold Offer but The Food is pulling us towards Mugal Sarai..
It was great experience here. I have visited this place twice.
Ambiance 5/5
Quite and calm ambiance. Their window side table is great.
Service 5/5
The staff was helpful and friendly. Explained us their best and speciality dishes. The service was quick too
Food 4/5
Although food was good nothing was memorable. Kabab was good.
Value for money
The hotel is zomato gold partner so 1 + 1 on food is applicable. Even without it its quite affordable.
Came here for Lunch. Staff here welcomed very politely. The ambience and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Gives a royal look.
Starters : MURGH MALAI TIKKA
This was served on a sizzler pan. This was a perfect blend of cream cheese and cashewnut paste. The cheese blasted in mouth. Served with green chutney. Yummy.
Main course : MURGH PESHAWARI HANDI
So called Peshawari Masala was a blend of so many herbs and masala literally i was not able to identify what was it. Spicy subji with perfectly marinated chicken pieces.
Best thing is if you ask they will make it boneless for you.
Chilly Cheese Garlic Naan tastes wonderful as at many restaurants the amount of Garlic is very high. Here it was perfect.
Supreb! ❤
I am very glad with our first experience at Mughal Sarai. After visiting Sambhaji park there was no good place for family dining but now Mughal Sarai is there for nonveg lovers like us. We visited this place in the evening, at 7.30pm. Not at all crowded but calm place to enjoy the dinner. We ordered Chicken Shorba, Murg Gilafi Sikh, Bheja masala, butter roti n Chicken schezwan noodles. Fast service n tasty food made our day. All the dishes had a unique n good taste. Prices are bit high but its completely fine when a delicious food and prompt service is given by the restaurant. Overall a complete happy n satisfied with the fist visit at Mughal Sarai. Thanks for yummy dinner treat Nikhil Mahirrao :)
A great family restaurant. Ambience is good. Portions sizes are decent. Food quality is above average. Food tastes amazing. Staff is polite and service is quick.
Visited Mughal Sarai yesterday. It's having nice Ambience and good music to make someone feel calm. I was there at sharp 7.30pm and it was weekday. It wasn't crowdy.
Talking abt food, we ordered chicken angara and murgh hyderabadi dum biryani.
Chicken angara - it was good, fresh and juicy. The plate itself was looking good. It came along Wid salads, green chutney and I felt the star dish among it is yellow stripped half raw papaya in sauces.. It was tangy in taste. Loved it. Overall I love the starter. I would rate it 5/5
Murgh hyderabadi dum biryani- As the name itself of restaurant is Mughal Sarai, my expectations were high for biryani. And it turned down. Biryani was almost a pulao.. Though it was good in taste having boneless juicy chicken pieces, rice wasn't dum. It almost tasted like a pulao.
It's a huge disappointment, if u have high expectation from biryani. I would rate it 3.5/5 for taste... But again if u r really looking for authentic biryani it would be 1/5
Quantity was good.. Sufficient for 2.
Staff was very well behaved and services are quick..
Overall experience is good..
Suggestion : plz improve ur dum biryani's since it would be a prime focused for customers who will be there to have authentic mighlai/hyderabadi dum biryani..
At the entry door a vintage car attracts attention
And our exception grow
They try honestly to fullfill
Good food, well staff , nice place. Surely revisitable
Fine dining place. Zaffarni pulao is yum. The chicken starters are also good. The staff is very courteous and polite. Overall good experience
Mughal Sarai restaurant is one of the must visit the place on JM Road.....the place ambience wise is good. It's the quality of food that's the concern. We ordered kebabs, butter chicken, Murg Peshawar handy etc....the portion size of the dishes is quite good and sufficient. The kebabs were succulent. The dishes were well cooked, rich in taste, authentic and flavorful. Mughal Sarai is a good place for North India and Mughlai delicacies. I’ll surely be back for more especially for shahi tukda.
Been in many restro's in pune, but this one is a pure delight...calm ambience and awesome food makes this place a must visit...Anytime recommended...
This place is amazing. The service was good, on time and understanding. The food was just delicious. The spices and even the bread and drinks were good. Nice ambience. Perfect place to take friends or family and fill the hunger from something delicious.
Very nice experience to be there and enjoy food. Ambience and service was also very nice. Food quality was also very nice. I recommend to go and have experience.
Great place for friends and family. Nice ambience, tasty food and polite and fast service. Chicken Tandoori is the best thing to order with beer.
Since the location of the restaurant is prime, there are high chances that you won’t find a parking nearby. The restaurant has a good ambience to it. The staff is very polite. The menu is quite elaborate and the service is decently quick.
The waiter was helpful enough to guide us with their specials. The food was really nice and tasty. Completely satisfied with service and the food. Definitely recommend the restaurant for a nice relaxed dinner with family or friend.
What a restaurant, delicious food, awesome environment, and quick service. Thanks to Deep who served food in a well manner. Trust me food quality and test both are excellent.
One of the finest mughlai places I had visited and I would definitely recommend it.
Starters - The quality of paneer was good. The chicken thigh starter which we took was also delicious
Main course - chicken biryani is just great, fLavourful with a nice aroma of ghee. Veg malai kofta was creamy and in a bit sweeter side.
Service was fast
Ambiance is also good.
This place is perfect for a quiet dinner with family and friends especially if you love non vegetarian food. The ambiance was really simple with well placed tables and Hindi gazals playing in the background so you can talk over them, that is if you want to. Coming to the food,
Accompaniments- They served a really fresh mint and coriander chutney along with marinated pieces of pineapple forming a perfect balance of flavours and it went really well with the starters.
Starters- we'd ordered Murgh malai tikka which was heavenly and the tandoori chicken was lip smacking. Chicken was cooked to perfection in both the dishes. The spices were just enough.
Roti- the butter naan over here is totally worth the price. It's fresh, just the right thickness and buttery soft.
Biryani- we tried the Prawns biryani which was again very mildly spiced and was served with a veg raita. The Prawns were cooked really well. It was in all a great biryani.
They serve other cuisines too, which I plan on trying the next time I go there.
If you are craving non vegetarian and especially mughlai food, this place is a must visit.
Mughal Sarai has a pleasant ambience, great food, and an authentic touch attached to it. The subtle music just adds to the overall experience.
We ordered, Murg Malai Tikka, came in a fancy tandoor, butter chicken, dahi ke kebabs (they were delicious and a must try), and Paneer lababdar. All of it had a great taste, quality and presentation.

अप्रतिम जेवण, उत्तम जागा, सुंदर व चविष्ट पदार्थांचे पर्याय, सुचना: व्यवस्थापन अजून चांगली असू शकते...
A great meal, a great place, lots of choices for beautiful and tasty foods,
Suggestion: the management can be a better one ...
@Mughal Sarai.... @ZomatoGold..
Mughal Sarai Restaurant is one of the must visit place on JM Road .. Firstly, the ambience with their various seating arrangement options is amazing.. Its quite a big and spacious .. Very well planned .. Secondly, about their staff.. They are all very polite ..secondly what a warm and prompt service.
And finally about their food... Just Yummy and Wow! So many options on veg too! Really impressed with the taste and variety that they offer..
After reading review of Dr. Anupam Potdar Mughal Sarai was for long on my must visit list.
Visited today on 24 sept 2018 for Dinner.
Started with Kingfisher Strong for me and Gosht Paya ka Shorba
Paya Shorba was excellent although trotters missing. It was bit salty to my taste as I am used to of having little salt. RECOMMENDED
Starter was Nawabi Kesari Murg which was Chicken breast stuffed with Chicken Kheema and grilled. I found the dish to be dry and same was conveyed to concern staff.
For mains we ordered Murgh Begam Bahar which was bone in chicken cooked with chicken kheema in yellow gravy along with Tandoori Roti. RECOMMENDED
The food was excellent along with service given.
Happy to visit this place!
Ambience 5/5
Food 5/5
Also the staffs working are really polite and friendly.
We ordered for butter naan and murg makhani for main course and murg angara tikka for starters.
It was worth it!
Mughal Sarai is a chain of casual dining restaurants in the city which has now opened it's second outlet on JM Road, the first being in Kondwa.
I had been here for dinner with family. The restaurant offers a simple and elegant ambience.
The affordable menu is quite extensive, offering kebabs, Indian, Chinese and Mughlai cuisine.
We ordered Murg Hariyali Tikka, Murg Peshawari Handi, Rotis and Butter Naans. The portion size of the dishes is quite good and sufficient. The butter naans were so huge that I could eat only half of it.
The kebabs were succulent. The dishes were well cooked, rich in taste, authentic and flavourful.
Overall, with an affordable menu, elegant ambience, welcoming staff and efficient service, Mughal Sarai is a good place for North India and Mughlai delicacies. I'll surely be back for more specially for Shahi Tukda and Sheer Khorma.
Food: 5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 5/5
The best Tandoori Chicken that I had is here at Mughal Sarai. The masala was awesomely delicious and it was cooked to perfection till inside. Unlike other places, it wasn't bland inside.
The Shahi Tukda was also good, I wish they served it a little warm.
The only drawback is they don't serve onion and lemon with Tandoori Chicken.
Food tastes excellent. Quantity and quality both are good. Clean, spacious, warm and comfortable seating. Service is good. Staff is polite and friendly. Location is good. Ambiance is excellent. Worth the price paid. Mocktails are very good. Quiet a lot of choices to order from food and drinks.
Located on busy roads of JM Road this place servers finest moghali food dishes. The place is very cozy with decent ambience. The staff is very friendly and greets with smile. Food taste is authentic moghlai which will satisfy our taste buds. I tried Shahi chicken korma which was just mouth watering. Overall good ecperience with decent price range.
🛑 Before the review let me add what price range it is in. It is not a cheap restaurant nor it is an expensive one. It is the middle somewhere. Like ₹800-₹1200 for 2 people (It includes starters, the main course and butter naan) Chicken tandoori is just excellent here.
⏺️The food here is really tasty, it includes
Mughlai, Italian, and some thai too.
⏺️When it comes to hygiene it is very clean.
⏺️The atmosphere is good with silent music
Pretty warm ambience, AC & big tables.
⏺️The service great with good servers and
Managers.
⏺️Since it's on JM Rd 2wheeler parking is
available but I Don't know about 4wheel.
🛑Drinks are available.
You should visit it at least once, the food and the service won't disappoint you.
Wow what an amazing place to have food. Very good taste, very nice ambience of the restaurant. Service staff is very nice. One of the best restaurants situated very close to busy Deccan Gymkhana road.
Good ambience, tasty food, can't say anything about drinks as I'm a teetotaler, felt like I was partying in big wedding hall as they hosted live singing, the singer has got real nose for singing... Overall nice experience, expensive though.
Nice place to take your loved ones out for lunch and have a good time. The ambience here is very good. This place caters to all kinds of customers with music. The restaurant greets it's customers with mouth watering food be it starters or their wide variety of sumptuous dinner spread. A place you would love to come back to.
They need to improve with their soups that they serve as starter we found it tasteless.
Main course was worth it but yet they need to improve. staff is very cooperative and that's the reason for 4star review
Great ambience and supportive staff
Attended a freshers party here
All the way got great
A must try restaurant
Went here for team lunch. The taste was good.. must try below items: chicken tandoor, mutton Raga, shahi tukda and sizzling brownies
Awesome food. Clean, hygienic, Family friendly place.
Mughalai taste of non veg dishes...try it..✌✌
The perfect place if you want really tasty food under ₹200/- per head.
Great Food💥💥🔥🔥
Loved it😘😘
Keep it up👍👍
Nice place for birthday parties and small celebrations. Good food. Costing is a bit expensive.
Amazing food, great ambience and value for money. I had a party for 17 people and they precisely catered for our every need. They gave us a separate section since the beginning giving us the privacy we needed. Great place. Must visit. Could be a little heavy on your pocket depending on your budget though.
Nice ambiance and good food
