Its a nice small cozy place on the main Bibwewadi- Kondhwa road.
The have indoor as well as outdoor seatings.
They serve authentic Maharastrian (Khandeshi) and North Indian food made in kaala masala.
"Kaala" means "black" in the Marathi language and this refers to both the colour of the final masala and the ingredients which it contains.
Kaala masala is the originally born in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
.
.
They make the masala themselves.
Some of the main ingredients of kaala masala are cumin seeds, coriander seeds, clove, cinnamon sticks, kalpasi, coconut, sesame seeds and chillies.
.
.
.
Some of the dishes I tried At the restaurant include:

Starters:
Khiccha Churi
Masala Khiccha
Shevga fry
Masala bhakari

Main course:
Shev bhaji (it is their speciality and is just amazing)
Umbar handi
Tadka pitala
Lasooni Methi
Wheat Phulka
Bhakri (Jowar and Bajara)
Marida is a must try dessert... It’s made by crushing bajara roti and is topped with ghee and gul (jaggery)
.
.
.
This place is a must try for the people who are fan of authentic spicy Maharashtrian food.
Another plus point is that they have ample parking space for 2 and 4 wheeler.

Something Maharashtrian? As tasty as homemade food?

This place is situated near gangadham, and is super pocket friendly.

They make their masalas in their own kitchen and this is the reason that they serve real yummy food.

Some of my favorites-
Khichcha churi
Masala bhakari
Malida
Umbar handi
Shevga fry
Shev bhaji
Tadka pithala
Lasooni methi

Had seen this place many a times while traveling from Market Yard Annex road.

Tried out this place just for a change and found this place really good.

For people who are core fan of Spicy Maharashtrian Food then this is the place for you.

I ordered Masala papad, Veg Bhoona and Tandoor Roti, all the food was good. It was just that Bhoona was a bit spicy than it is in other restaurants.

So if you are not fond of much spicy food then you can ask the order taking guy to make it less spicy.

Must try out this place for a change.

Recently been to spice stories to celebrate birthday party with around 25 guests and we and all guests were amazed with the food quality. they also decorated the sitting area with balloons etc. Every one was very happy with the quality of the food, just to mention a few of what we tried, papad churi, malida, umber handi, shev bhaji, pithla, bhakri, shewaga masala were awesome. Their manager and also the owner gave dedicated attention. This would be the best place to have Maharashtrian food in Pune. Can't wait to go back there.

A very good experience. The team was very welcoming and explained the finer points of the Khandeshi cuisine.

We began with Masala Khicha as a starter. Then came Sev Bhaji and Umber Handi with Jowari Bhakri. The servings were large, so between three of us couldn't finish the food.

The taste was very different from conventional restaurant food and very memorable.

I am coming back for more.

P.S. Would appreciate cleaner menu cards. The one I got was sticky with earlier handling.

Amazing thing about this place is their food. Everything is just so tasty. I would suggest to try food with kaala masala. They have this authentic Maharashtrian food like pithala n all which is really great.
I have a little suggestion for the management. Don't get panicked when you have more crowd. I observed that people became very hasty while dealing with crowd. Just stay calm and everything will be great.

Amazing taste, awesome typical marathi food. I had masala cheese kichiya nicely baked and marinated vegetables but cheese was less. Umber handi was awesome taste kala masala gravy with modak or u can say as kofta feels like kachori inside the gravy. The gravy is not thick of course bcoz it's marathi food. Bhakri and chapati are soft and nic it feels like it's a home food. Masala rice was good but the bad part is they put groundnuts in rice someone feels good but I didn't. But the negetive thing is if we order like butter chapati or bhakri the butter very very less and the vertical garden in the restaurant in worst condition they should take care of it. Anyways next for sure I will be going for sev bhaji and pitla.

It's comparatively a small Food Joint wherein space is limited. Though Feel they have given is great. I found Outer Seating Arrangement more Delight than Inside One.

Regular Stuff (Veg Bhuna / Veg Maratha / Roti etc) is Good. No issues here. They have showcased themselves as using Authentic Maharashtrian Spices. Under that impression, I tried 'PITHALA'. Disappointed as it was not upto mark. May be I was comparing it with what we get on 'Fort Sinhagad'. But sadly it was not near to it either.

Though would love to give another try to this Place. Mainly because of Ambience and Another Food options available.

They have really utilised the space they have and created an awesome ambiance. They have their own different dishes and some of them are really very delicious.
We tried
1)Masala khicha:-(perfect replacement for masala papad).
2)Umber Handi:-(Patodyachi aamti in black gravy) one of the best thing we ever tried.
3)Shev bhaji:- shev bhaji in black gravy was good but taste could have been better.
4)Dal tadka:- This is what i will name as their speciality. Nothing’s good than this dish in spice stories.
5)Baajra roti:- One stealing factor of the eve.
6)Jwaari roti:- Taste was not that good but fine for awesome sabjis.
7)Tandoor roti:- this is point where the restaurant needs to work upon. Not at all good! Improvisation needed!!

The khau galli at gangadham is packed with all kinds of places serving almost all cuisines an average indian family would opt for.
Spice Stories an addition to that area is a cozy family restaurant serving punjabi food and specialize in authentic Maharashtrian and Khandeshi Cuisine which is different and new to that area, and I recommend everyone to give this place a try for their food is absolutely delish and the place is more than VFM.

To be honest, the place is definitely not one meant for appetizers, I recommend you all to maybe try one appetizer and explore the mains more generously cause that's what they specialize in. Their food has a warm and homely feel to it and you can eat on without feeling too stuffed. So, here's all the items we tried and what all I relished the most.

Appetizers -
Masala Khiccha
Papad Churi
Masala Bhakri
Malida
Hara Bhara Kebab

Mains -
Umber Handi
Sev Bhaji
Bhindi Fry
Tadka Pitla
Kaju Paneer Malwan
Assorted Breads - Bhakris and Butter roti
Masala Rice

Dessert -
Gulab Jamun

As I said earlier, most of their appetizers failed to amaze me, only one stood out and we had two servings of it, the Hara Bhara Kebab. It was perfect in every possible way, and I Highly recommend you all to give this a go for sure.

The mains were nothing short of delicious. The food was light to eat yet rich in flavors and a I have to mention the quantity of the food here is so generous, one curry/sabzi can easily feed 2-3 people full with their super thin Bhakris, these were the thinnest Bhakris I've seen. (the quantity you see in the images for the mains is half).
Umber Handi is their signature curry, it consists of dumplings(modaks) stuffed with peanuts with masala in a gravy which has 7 spices together called the kala masala and I highly recommend everyone reading this to try it out, it's something different.
I love Pitla Bhakri, and this one had a Tadka twist to it which made it all the more better. Highly recommended.
I began the meal with a glass of buttermilk and ended it with the same. I kid you not, 3 glasses of SPOT ON Buttermilk. Highly recommended. It goes perfectly with your meal.

Spice Stories is definitely a place to visit for all those looking to try some good homely food at pocket friendly rates.

Spice stories an pure vegetarian authentic Maharashtrain food place which was much needed in an area like Kondhwa, has won my heart ♥️ The place has kept the seating basic and their food homely 😇 Right from their chefs been right from the village to their menu centering soulful dishes made in every Maharashtrain household.
➡️ Appetizers:
We started our meal with Nachni Khiccha which is a modified version of masala papad but the onions & tomatoes lacked the spices.Hara Bhara Kebab was star of the appetizers with right amount of flavours & beautifully topped with cashews 😍 Masala Bhakri which is made from mixing pieces of bhakri with roasted peanuts, onion, tomatoes & sautted together with spices tasted a little off cause of lack of salt. Next up we had Malida, which is also made for bhakri and is perfect to have during the winters ♥️ Bhakri with jaggery syrup was truly amazing & I loved it so much that I took multiple portions of it !
➡️Main Course :
Sev Bhaji which is the hero of Khandeshi cuisine was amazing here ! The spice level was kept medium and the spices gave a bang on flavour and this tasted great with bhakri 😋 Umber handi which is made from kala masala - a resultant burnt mixture of all seven masalas ! The kala masala gravy also had small savoury modaks which had peanut filling within them ! Crushing these modaks into the gravy and then eating them with bhakri was a great first time experience 😍 Tadka Pithala was also great to have with the most fluffiest jawari bhakri I have even seen ! Kaju Paneer Malwani a dish from the north Indian menu wasn't anything like we get in restaurants with the typical onion empowering gravy. This was rich, full with kaju & the softest of paneer ! Truly finger licking ! 😍 Masala rice was the 'paratlela bhaat' we have at homes and tasted average. To end the meal we had the Gulab Jamun which were good too ♥️

Overall Verdict : When you visit this place, skip the appetizers and gorge on the amazing main course 😍 Portion size is enough for three people & the prices are amazingly low ! Loved the Umber Handi & Jawari Bhakri 😋 Sure to visit this place many more times!

Spice stories is a Maharashtrian restaurant situated in kondhwa. So what’s so special about it ? Well alot of things-
They serve lip smacking Khandeshi cuisine (northwest region of Maharashtra)
The star of spice stories is the “kaala masal” aka black spice that they use giving amazing taste and aroma to the food.
Flavourful food with in detail thought put into everything right from the name of the restaurant to the ambiance and of course the food.

Nachani khiccha : Crispy nachani khiccha made masala papad style (fried topped with tomatoes, onions & sev )

Masala bhakri : Bhakri served in the style of poha. Yummy snack that you can eat anytime has a good Maharashtrian touch to it.

Malida : bhakri churi with gud (jaggery) and ghee. This was probably my least favourite dish as I don’t really like jaggery but for those who do definitely should give it a try.

Umber Handi : Stuffed dumplings served with spicy gravy made from kala masala. This is their star this and I too enjoyed this dish alot. Its a must.

Shev Bhaji : The difference between this and your normal sev bhaji was the use of kala masala giving it a complete change of flavours.

Lasooni methi : Being a garlic fan I totally enjoyed this sabji, the use of garlic makes methi very enjoyable.

Pithala : How can pithala be any better right ? Well it can by the use of tadka given to it. Tastes amazing!

Taak was a really needed addition to the spicy menu

Ate gulab jamun for desserts .They are still working their desserts and hope to see some soon

All these years, I used to raid my friend's tiffins who carried some amazing home-cooked Maharashtrian food. But I must say that actually eating it at a restaurant was a first time experience for me. To be more specific, Spice Stories serves Khandeshi cuisine.
Located on Bibwewadi-Kondhwa road, the place has simple yet charming interiors and a seating capacity of around 50-70.
Before even talking about the food here, I would like to point 2 major factors which most restaurants miss these days - generous portions and value-for-money. Spice Stories holds high on both these counts.
In fact, the portion sizes are so huge that if only 2 diners eat here, you'd be hard-pressed to finish a single main. In such a scenario, I would strongly recommend you try the Shev Bhaji. It was absolutely delightful - no layer of oil on top, no overt use of spices - just perfect symphony of shev, gravy and masalas. This was the one thing here worth going back again & again for.
We began our meal with the Masala Khiccha which albeit good, failed to impress. The Papad Churi and Masala Bhakri were decent offerings. I especially loved the caramelised onions that were plentiful in the papad churi. The best appetiser was the Hara Bhara Kabab. It was flawless in every respect - the spice, the casing and the filling were all on point; it is highly recommended when you dine here.
The Malida was again a surprise offering made with crushed bhakri, jaggery and ghee. It had a homely flavour to it and I totally loved it.
An extremely different main I tried here was the Umber Handi. It consisted of stuffed savoury dumplings served atop a brown gravy. Again, the flavours were on point.India really does surprise you with the sheer imagination and variety of dishes that every region brings with it. I have already said heaps about the Shev Bhaji which is the showstopper here. The other mains I tried were Tadka Pithala, Kaju Paneer Malwan and Bhendi Fry, all of which were quite good. Most of their mains are made use a special blend of 7 masalas known as Kala masala. It added an intense flavour to each gravy and made for something very different from the usual Punjabi gravies we are used to.
The best is yet to comes. The gravies are definitely delicious - but what was commendable were their bhakris. Never have I had such thin, soft bhakris in my life. Totally kickass. In fact, even the butter roti was one of the better ones I've eaten. The Masala rice was simple and the flavours were on point.
We washed off all of this food with several glasses of freshly churned buttermilk.
The Gulab jamuns were the perfect end to a very satisfying meal at Spice Stories.

'Khandeshi' sounds royal, doesn't it?
Such is their food. Royal, authentic & rustic. It takes back to you to the history of India when Shivaji maharaj ruled. I so loved the concept of bringing back our traditional dishes which are now hidden gems. Hardly people know our traditional Maharashtrian food and how it originated. This place serves you all authentic Maharashtrian cuisine.

For someone from outside Maharashtra, the first word that strikes mind is 'Tikkhat' meaning spicy for Maharashtrian food. But this place has changed my mindset completely for this cuisine.

Maharashtrian cuisine is full of spices and hence flavours. Spices just doesn't mean lots of chili. They specialize in Maharashtrian Kala masala which is a blend of 7 spices like cloves, black pepper, coriander seeds, fennel to name a few.

This place only serves veg food. This place has blown my mind with its rustic ambience, authentic cuisine full of flavours with varieties in veg.

They serve unique starters. What we had -
👉Nachani Khiccha - Masala papad made of nachani, fried and topped with onion, tomato and sev. A perfect dish to begin with.
👉Masala Bhakri - Healthy and unique dish which was full of flavours. This dish is a nice twist to roti poha. It was made with bajra bhakri which added a health factor to it.
👉Malida - This is bhakri churi, made with jaggery. Again a different dish for me. Although I don't have a sweet tooth, I liked this one.
Main Course
👉Umber Handi - Flour dumplings dipped in spicy gravy. This was made in kala masala which they specialize in. I must say it arouse all my taste buds with each bite. Simply loved the blend of spices which was full of aroma and flavours. #highlyrecommend
👉Shev Bhaji - Unlike usual in Maharashtra shev bhaji is made in spices mixture, to my surprise it turned out to be flavourful.
👉Shengdana chutney - This dish was full of flavours though I felt the shengdana/peanut if slightly more crispy could have tasted better.
👉Lasooni Methi - Perfect balanced flavour of lasoon with methi really came out well.
👉Pithala - This dish was made with besan and had good flavours with nice consistency.
👉Masala rice - Perfectly cooked rice with amazing aroma and full of flavours.
Desserts
👉Bajra bhakri, jawar bhakri and roti
👉Gulab Jamun - Gulab jamun was little too sweet for me and not as soft as expected.
👉Taak - With such spicy food you have to have taak. It was fresh and good.
Must visit restaurants, specially for vegetarians who like spicy food.

Had been to this restaurant today. Food is good and tasty. Only two things that hurt education is mineral water mandatory and buttermilk was costing 35 rupees. Rest all dishes were value for money.

New place, awesome taste (if you like spicy food). Something new which gives you a break from regular Punjabi food. Go for jawar bhakri which very nicely replaces maida roti. We also ordered kaju paneer malwani which again tasted really good with difference. Nachni khichiya is truly value for money and good on taste. Very nice place with a difference. Must Try place. Keep it up founders.

Food 8/10, Ambience 8/10, Value for money 8/10

Visited spice stories with our friends group. It claim to be specialise in vegeterian black masala recipe so thought to visit this place. Trust me, the food they served was just so tasty, mouth watering, right from the starters, the main course, name any dish it was just awesome. All dish where prepared & served. I can say that it's one of the best black masala food restaurant in the city.

Shraavan ala re ala... Hunting for pure veg food? Something Maharashtrian? As tasty as homemade food? Then this is just the right place for you. This place is situated near gangadham, and is super pocket friendly. They make their masalas in their own kitchen and this is the reason that they serve real yummy food. Some of my favorites- Khichcha churi Masala bhakari Malida Umbar handi Shevga fry Shev bhaji Tadka pithala Lasooni methi

This is certainly one of the must visit food joints that has come up in Market Yard Bibvewadi, Gangadham area. The authentic maharashtrian food served here is just too good. We tried Lasuni Methi, Aaloo mutter in black masala gravy, bhakari, taak and masala khichya and everything was brilliant. The service is also very prompt and the food is served with a lot of love. They will help you choose as per your liking. They have a small menu and also the seating place is less to the kind of food they serve and in a very short time they will need a much bigger place. A multiple time visit place for all.

Location : Spice Stories @spicestoriespune . . . Kaala masala is the originally born in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. . . . They make the masala themselves. Some of the main ingredients of kaala masala are cumin seeds, coriander seeds, clove, cinnamon sticks, kalpasi, coconut, sesame seeds and chillies. . . . Some of the dishes I tried Starters: Khiccha Churi Masala Khiccha Shevga fry Masala bhakari Main course: Shev bhaji (it is their speciality and is just amazing) Umbar handi Tadka pitala Lasooni Methi Wheat Phulka Bhakri (Jowar and Bajara) Marida is a must try dessert... It’s made by crushing bajara roti and is topped with ghee and gul (jaggery) . . . This place is a must try for the people who are fan of authentic spicy Maharashtrian food. Another plus point is that they have ample parking space for 2 and 4 wheeler. . . . Verdict : Amazingly tasty food with variation in intensity of spiciness with each dish. You will enjoy it. My menu at the place was: Roti Umbar Handi Shev Bhaaji Masala Rice Chaanch (buttermilk) Total bill paid for 4 people was barely Rs.532 inclusive of taxes. The staff is swift and responsive. The place is run by a young couple who were present during the time I visited, they were humble and helpful in suggesting the best order as per our liking. Sitting space is sufficient enough for upto 20 people, over that may get crowdy. What I loved about the place? There speciality of Kala Masala dishes is just amazing. It's not something you find at the corner of every street. Give it a try. You'd love it.

You get maharastrian cusine in this restaurant. The food is really spicy. The staff is really sweet and helpful. This place is value for money. Parking can be a problem. Ambiance is nice and overall service of this restaurant is good. Ask the waiter for any dish recommendation, if you are looking for typical maharastrian food. I prefer this place for lunch or dinner.
