Hotel Raviraj located on Bhandarkar road and now identified as a budget hotel, was literally one of the leading star hotels throughout the 90’s. People use to identify this place with various business and banquet functions. In last three decades Pune has seen a surge of number of business and budget hotels and therefore people with their natural instinct have moved on trying various new hotels that seem to open every now and then. Though the conferences and banquet functions do keep happening at hotel Raviraj, what has remained constant is the food and its taste. This is probably because, it appears the hotel has managed to retain most of the staff especially those in the kitchen.
As I and my friends were having a house party and it was the New Year’s Eve, we decided to order everyone’s all time favourite Biryani !! I ordered 5 portions of chicken dum biryani and one portion of Vegetable Biryani. The quantity was perfect for 7 people. I’d like to thank Harsha Joshi for all his cooperation, suggestions and help. He was extremely hospitable. I was given the Biryani in a handi and it was full of flavour. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the coal gave it a beautiful Smokey flavour. Mr. Harsha made sure that he served me the Biryani the way I wanted it to be - less oily and less spicy. Overall my experience was great and the Biryani of course lifted our mood and hence we could enjoy our house party!
You will experience VALUE FOR MONEY at every Sip & Bite here. Great food choices available, good ambiance, well-informed staff about their services make Raviraj a very desirable place. Don't hesitate to ask for a suggestion for food you will be surprised! They have a very elaborate menu from Starter to Dessert.
I had taken away a portion of butter chicken. I must say that this the best butter chicken I have had in Pune. I highly recommend this place for its food, service and courteaus staffs.

This restaurant is one of my favorite places in Pune to have Butter Chicken. I have fond childhood memories of this place. Amongst the vegetarian dishes, I love the Veg Kheema.
I ordered Dum Chicken Biryani which was on 15% discount offer . It was excellent the taste, appearance, aroma and reasonable price after discount. The beet root salad with curd and mint leaves was also unique . Suggestion >Next time please offer Mutton Dum Biryani for variety. Shrikant Phadke
We had our wedding here so I have a soft spot for this hotel. Visited after a long time and decided to review. The food is great with a lot of variety. The ambience is quiet and decor is comfortable, without loud music blaring at you. It's a lovely place to have a meal with your friends or family.
I am visiting this place an year after writing a bad review . The following things have come to light .
1 they have renovated the place and it looks fabulous
2 the waiters are more polite and hospitable . Overall service has greatly improved
3 the food quality was always good .
4 4 stars for the management and cheers to the development !!.

We have all our family get together invariably at Raviraj. They always provide us the perfect ambience and services. The food is awesome.
Everyone at Raviraj has been extremely co operative.
Additionally the location is in the heart of city, with variety different options for size of the function, parking and all amenities with very reasonable price.

The place is perfect for get-togethers and parties. Recently I had my engagement function on rooftop. Music and audio visual arrangements were perfect. We really enjoyed the evening with delicious dishes.

We did not worry about our 120 guests, audio-visual equipments, seating arrangement, even food because we knew that just like every time they'll take care of it and they managed to do it better than before. The food was amazing and all the guests were impressed by the taste and the way it was served. The staff is very friendly, helpful and they'll always serve you with the best possible way.

Being a loyal member, the staff is very helpful. The food tastes good. They have a very few options in beer and yes they don’t serve draught either.
This is our favourite party place . You can order meals and bring your own booze. Nice ambiance on the roof top. During monsoon, we use one of the indoor locations. Suitable for a group up to 25-30.

Visited this restaurant for a family dinner... Quite place on bhandarkar road... Service is good. Butter chicken here is really good n it's not sweet like we usually get at other restaurants. Chicken Mongolian n banjara kebab are good as well...
One of the most frequent restaurants I visit or take home food. Butter chicken with pineapple raita and butter naan is my favorite meal. Reasonable but good quantity and quality.
This place is not hyped like other newly opening restaurants.. But it's good.. Have good variety.. Tried BBQ chicken, ice tea and veg fried rice.. Nice taste.. Good service.. Calm place.. IPL screening is ON.. I would visit again..

I think that Raviraj Surya Mahal is one of the most under-rated restaurants in Deccan Gymkhana. What I like most is the consistency in the food quality and the taste. All of this comes at a very affordable price. For those of you who have never tasted the food here, you must definitely give it a try. I have no doubt in my mind that it will not be the last time!

This was the first restaurant to break out of central Deccan and move up a few minutes walk from all the tea totaling good boys, who now just needed to sneak around the corner into air conditioned paradise where non-vegetarian goodies, beer and yet harder drinks could be found! It had an element of class when it opened and it still serves good food until this day!
Raviraj is a famous restaurant located on bhandarkar road. It is mainly known for its non veg dishes.
My favourite dishes are the chicken tikka masala and paneer chilly. Chicken is always cooked to perfection but the gravy is little spicy but goes well with the tender chicken pieces. Paneer is very soft.
Ambience is very good and service is fast. Staff gives top priority to customers.

The soups are pretty good here. I specially liked Manchow because it was not too spicy (I prefer it this way).

Overall the food is good though the ambience has gone bad over the years. But still its not a put-off.
The must haves include: Chicken Omlette, Kheema Dosa, Roast Chicken in Brown Sauce, Mutton Rogan Josh and French Onion soup.
Hotel Raviraj was my go-to place for the best chicken grilled sandwiches way back in 1996. I revisited it after a long gap in 2012 and found their barbecue and indian varieties extremely tasty. I also hosted a family party there recently and was delighted with their flexibility of menu and taste of maharashtrian delicacies. Love its location. It is right in the heart of the city yet away from the hustle bustle. Do visit it for good food and an idyllic evening.

We had good experience here. If you are looking for the decent hotel around bhandarkar road this is a go to place, with relatively on average side for budget. They have good variety of offerings. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon and I had a plan to have lunch somewhere near Deccan. As mercury was on the higher side I was obviously looking for an a/c restaurant where I could get a cool and descent atmosphere. I came across Raviraj (Indoor dining area is called as Suryamahal) located on Bhandarkar Road. I had visited here long-long ago so thought of re-visiting. Out of the two seating areas it had, outdoor seating is most of the time occupied by people who want to have quick bite, sales meetings etc. I decided for an Indoor seating area. It has low lighting ambience which is I would say a bit classic or old-fashioned.
Food I ordered was chicken reshmi kebabs, angarey chicken along with regular Indian bread.
Reshmi kebabs platter was neatly decorated, chicken was soft like cottage cheese, not too spicy and had a good taste of neatly roasted chicken.
Angarey chicken which by the name any one would guess that it would be too hot and spicy. But, it was not the case it had bone less chicken masala decorated with four uncut green chilly bhujias.I would call it as an innovative dish because those who want it more spicy and hot can enjoy it with green chilly bhujias. Chicken pieces tasted soft and freshly cooked and were sufficient in quantity with 7-8 pieces of boneless chicken and balanced thick gravy.
Service was efficient but ambience requires a re-vamp so that it would be welcome by people across the ages. Prices are little bit on higher side but are justified with the quality and quantity they serve. It is worth visiting with family and friends at once. And also I noticed it would be a good place if someone wants to throw a party to a group of around15-20 people, a separate buffet is arranged for such occasions.
One of my all-time-favorite places for good food and a quick drink. Please don't look out for Suryamahal because it is Hotel Raviraj whose restaurant is called Suryamahal.
The most experienced veteran waiters are here to serve you for whatever you need. To add to it, the simple lighting and cozy seating make you comfortable.
The menu is a crazy mix of many different cuisines and believe me most of the dishes are tasty here.
Another best part is, you are sure to get a table here, irrespective of the time at which you come here.
Very light on wallet yet excellent in food and overall service, this place is a must visit.

These guys are the best to serve the meat balls and the Butter chicken! Their butter chicken is the reason best suited for our taste.
They are great at serving north Indian preparations but I have seen many people ordering their Dosas as well. So I guess they might be good at it as well.
All in all, consistently good food. Ambiance and service is just okay but butter chicken here is must try!!

This place serves really nice food...The Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken are especially tasty..Quite reasonable and worth it..though the ambience (especially the lighting) could be better..not a total family restaurant since its a restaurant cum bar..but overall, the service is good, the manager and waiters are friendly and most importantly the food is great.
Very good sweet Mart. But today I got very late service. For just 2 items ,I had wasted more than 11 to 12 minutes. Also,some sweets items are unnecessary very high price selling.
