Lovely dinner last night !
We chose Malwan Samudra, Chinchwad - aunty s choice which is close-by for sea food specially and were happy with all choices ordered.
Fantastic Food !
Lucky us as we were the first customer in the AC seating and got good service. A small clean and neat place with good arrangements, glad they have an AC place.

They had service issues as at a time 4 of their staff didn't turn up it seems (Sunday it was) and the other customers were getting irate but they were doing their best.

Amazing Malwan cuisine served here. Love the prawns koliwada, stuffed Pomfret fry, prawns masala and bombil fry. The food is delicious. Price and quantity could be better.
I can say it's a every week place. Atleast once a week I go here. As I'm a Goan I always search for fish near by. But end up going here. As they are one of the best in chinchwad. The staff is very polite too.

I still remember used to be a very small joint serving sea foods and we used to visit it from Akurdi. Being a vegetarian I can say you have limited option but if you love fish do come here. I took parcel from here for my wife and she liked them....so u are wise enough to understand now :)

2nd visit: I took fish platter, green paplet curry, red curry, rice bhakri and rice. All were very good except the green paplet curry which I did not like as it was tasting like green chutney. All rest was good could not miss that red curry my personal favourite over here. Plz avoid green paplet curry try it at your own risk.
1st visit: This is a small place in chinchwad. And average ambience. However all the review is for taste over here and service. Took a fish platter and was very very good. Better than many of the big hotels. It consisted of bangda, surmai, mandeli, etc. One platter is enough for 2 people and we took tawa fry and was perfectly prepared and very much delicious. Then also their fish rassa was ausumn. Haven't got this kind anywhere in Pune. Very delicious and unique taste malwan style. A big yes to it. Then took sukat with rice bhakri and then plain rice with fish rassa. Too good. Cant ask for more. Was very very good experience and taste and service is the best even after being a small hotel. Hats off to owner and service staff and the chef to provide us such an ausumn delightful dishes. Also very reasonable. Highly recommended. People who look for ambience would not like this place. But who are interested in taste please do visit. I will come here for more. :)

This Restaurant is located in Chinchwad goan near TATA motors. PCMC have really few choices to eat seafood or nonveg dishes. So Malwan Samudra is a good option to try out different non-veg food.
Ambiance of this place is little cozy but well maintained. They kept the restaurant neat and clean. They do write a board of their specialties every day. It’s good practice as some people don't know what they should try out.
The Service of this restaurant is quick and Staff is good too. They will tell you details of the dishes if we are trying it out first time. In may restaurant the captain (the person who takes order) do not care what we are ordering or they don't suggest you at all. So, this restaurant makes a difference in this. As a customer we should also ask to captain if we are trying out something new, it's not whole and sole their responsibility.
Coming back to food We tried out following food:
Crab Soup: Crab soup was best. It was thick, Garlic and crab meat were added in it. Garlic gave it nice flavor. Crab is a great source of protein. With its diverse range of nutrients, including copper, vitamin B2, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids, crab is a wonderful food for cognition and the activity of your nervous system. So, we should have it very often
Prawns pepper garlic - Prawns were fresh and well cooked. Garlic sauce added nice taste to it.
Surmai Koliwada - Sumai Koliwada was presented very well but the fish was not fresh. It was smelling little bit. it did not taste that good as what we expected.
Prawns Green Curry - It was a Green gravy with some prawns were added it in. The prawns were really small. Some prawns were not cooked properly. The gravy was not thick. It could have tasted better if raw coconut would have added in it and it could make gravy little thick.
Sol kadhi: Sol kadhi was refreshing and thick. Solkadhi is good for health as it reduces the acidity so we should drink it often. Sol kadhi is a popular and healthy drink which is usually consumed after meals. Belonging to the Konkan region, it uses coconut milk, cumin seeds and green chilies, which gives it a lovely taste.
Overall it was okay experience. The bill was 1200 rupees. Its good option for PCMC people.

If you're looking for some good seafood restaurant in PCMC then Malwan Samudra is a good option. Easy to locate as it's on the main road. They have two branches on the same road one exactly opposite to tata motors and one nearby this.
Ambiance - Ambiance wise it's good. Simple decor with two different section AC and non-ac. The place is little cosy but not bad at all. As per the locality, this type of ambience is pretty good.
Service - Service was prompt and quick. We never had to wait for anything. Everything was served within the time.Staff is courteous and well trained.
Food - I've tried 3-4 things here which was pretty good. Let's get started.
Crab Soup - One of the best crab soups I've tried. Thick textured soup with a nice flavour of garlic which made it extra spicy yet tasty. However, more crab meat could've been good as I found it a bit less. The hinch of garlic in the soup was the main part which gave it a different flavour.
Prawns pepper garlic - Well battered prawns in garlic sauce. It was good as prawns were cooked perfectly.
Surmai Koliwada - I found it bit weird. As the fish meat was too hot but the batter was bit soggy. The batter was bit bland and fish was smelling. I didn't like it.
Solkadhi - A good solkadhi. Thick textured with a nice blend of coconut milk and other spices. Perfect as per my choice.
Prawns Green Curry - A green flavoured curry with prawns where we had only 5-6 pieces of small prawns which was bit undercooked. I thought the size of prawns will be big. The gravy was medium thick with all the flavours but the prawns were bit disappointing.
Overall - It's certainly not a VFM restaurant as we paid 1200 for our meal but a good option in PCMC.
Dinner is sorted when your cousin urge you to have just fish for dinner. We simply went to Malvan Samudra. Ordered Surmai Fry and Mandeli Fry. Mandeli was new for my bro hence I insisted him to try it. As usual, this place delighted us.
Awesome place for sea food lovers... was upset due to closure of Malvan Samundra Pimple Gurav branch but happy to know that they have an outlet in Chinchwad... Authentic malvan taste...felt like I was in & around malvan beach while having my food :-)

I had been there for sunday lunch. We ordered surmai thali. Fish was fresh and delicious. Masala prawns fry was mouth watering. Good service.
You can get a proper malwani style food here, though solkadhi was not that good.
Well if your priority is eating authentic malvani seafood or just good seafood without much jazz you can go to this place,you will not get ambience here,seating is like mess but clean and hygienic.
Coming to food,well we ordered stuffed pomfret fry,Surmai Koliwada in starters and Prawns Masala in main course. With Prawns masala we ordered wade which is Puri like dish in Malvani cuisine.
Pomfret was great so soft and Malvani masalas were blended perfectly giving it unique test,Surmai was also good.
Prawns masala with wade (puri) tasted delicious only thing is Prawns were bit tiny.
We ended with Prawns masala gravy with Jira rice and it also tasted good.
This is a great place for sea food lovers. Don't go with the ambiance, the food is really good. Authentic Malvan restaurant. Recommended dishes are Bombil fry, Tisre masala, crab masala, Pompfret fry and Solkadhi.
Need to improve: The curry that is been provided with the thali is not up to the mark with the other dishes.

Its a very good sea food restaurant in PCMC area. We had ordered, kolambi rice and bombil fry. Both the dishes were good. Overall its a must go restaurant if you like sea food.
It goes with the name. Best place to have sea food malwani food in pcmc. Don't get fooled buy the fake malwan samudra. This is the original restaurant of the kores so definitely visit here
The people who focus on quality and taste should try here once. There are lot much variety in the menu and you can change the taste as per need. The Ambience is not good, a small place with not more than 8 tables. The Thali system is also reasonable and had a good taste. The quantity of the dish is value for money.
We reached there at around 10:45 which was closing time. Some the the dishes were not available. We ordered starters only. The Surmai fish was bit dry. The prawns starter and the paneer one were good. Overall experience was not good but that might be because we reach at the closing time.

The best thing at this place is the special malwan samudra fry which is a fish fry platter having all types of fishes in it, an ideal thing to eat when you go in a group. The other fish thalis are also pretty good.
Although this place is small n hidden somewhere in chinchwad but nothing can beat their fish and prawns.. And yes the bhakri was also delicious.. They give you coconut milk with the food and it is yummilicious.. This place is a must visit if you love sea food.
I have been to this place several times.. as the name suggests Malvan Samudra it lives upto expectations of Pure Konkan Delicasy !! Ambience wise place is like ordinary resta. but you can't compare d taste with any seafood.. Masala Rice Prawns with solkadhi and yummy fried pomfret served hot with chapatis can remind you that you are having food at any konkanu friends home.. you could get addicted to prawns masala rice ;-)

If you are a sea food lover in that typical Konkani flavours, and ambiance does not bother you much, then this place is a must try. Do have the stuffed Pomphrets and Surmai curry, these are their best dishes.
Malwan samudra actually serves u a pleasant malwani cuisine, may it be the traditional fish gravy or the delicious fish fry. It is definitely a good place for sea food lovers. May it be the surmai or prawns, everything will be fresh. U take out one piece from the fish, u see the whiteness inside, u get to know about the freshness of the fish. Really recommended if u like having fish....

Had lunch here today.. I am a person who love malwani food to the core and hence was so happy to find this restaurant in chinchwad. The restaurant has two levels of seating arrangements. So seating capacity is not a issue. There was only one waiter for service and hence the order took some time. There was numerous fish otems in menu. However I ordered chicken thali . It had chicken curry with four to five good pieces , rice, solkadi and two bhakris.. the food was tasty and was bang on bucks. Recommend everyone to check out this restaurant.

A tiny place that puts on no airs or pretences of being anything posh or luxurious, but serves some of the best prepared Malwani cuisine I have ever tasted. That's saying something considering that Malwan is my native village where I have spent every summer vacation eating everything that could be eaten!
Be prepared for the generous dose of garam masala, only mellowed slightly by the coconut in the gravy. The chicken liver, mutton are prepared very well. But the prawns biryanis sealed the deal for me. Have a 'solkadi' to settle your tummy after all the spice overdose.
A nice place that serves very tasty food at an extremely reasonable price, at the cost of ambiance in the bargain.
I wasn't aware a very small place like this could be spotted on Zomato. I am glad it is! Malvan Samudra as the name goes - adopts Malvani cooking style and is specialized for its coastal food. Not a family place as I have always seen employees from the nearby companies or college students eating at this joint.
Dishonoring the ambience piece, this is definitely a takeaway option. The following items should be definitely in your order checklist -

VEG food is not an option to go for. The order turnaround time is good - still you see a decent crowd waiting and queued up at this place. In terms of taste, I have always experienced small outlets / joints doing much better. kudos to the malvani team. PCMC citizens should definitely look out for this option in terms of takeaway coastal food.

Had pomfret thali here. Worth the money.
Pomfret fry is on the buck. Perfect crisp outside. Nicely cooked still juicy inside. Not too much oily unlike the fish fry items you usually get anywhere else.
Masala gravy is good too. Right spiciness, sourness mixed in.
Rice bhakri served in thali is awesome.
Rice is average.
Solkadi is nice.
Overall the thali is wholesome, hearty and tasty.
