I started visiting this place 15-16 years ago, it was near by our home. Unique spicy zing and taste that you get in the first bite works like charm. I have seen many food joints, buffets, dhaba, restaurants but the Misal they offer here cannot be found anywhere else. Now I don't live near this place but still we drive 20km on weekends, to the other end of town, just to experience that unparalleled taste, and let me tell you I am as lazy as you are when it comes to write reviews or go out on weekends, I must appreciate owner (aaba) for this. Aaba chi Misal is now a nostalgic feeling, we want to experience every now and then. They deliver online as well, so we hardly visit them, but if you are trying this Misal for the first time, you must visit them in person and try this Misal. Be patient, if there is waiting because no one come close to Aaba a.k.a Shri Kala Misal when you are talking about Misal, that for sure.

Introduced to Pune by this small outlet serving Puneri Misal, Sabudana Khichdi and varietis of Laddus. The Misal was unique mix of Poha, Sprouts and Farsan with the hot and vibrant rassa/tari (or they call it Sample) served with fresh and soft buns. The taste of Misal stayed with us for really long that we had to have it once more on our 3rd day in Pune despite long list of to-eat places and cuisines. Sabudana Khichdi was perfectly cooked sabudana with just salt (and may be very minimal pepper) and topped with Koshimbir (Curd and Cucumber mixture) and Aloo Chevda. Their varieties of laddus are irrestible after misal and khichdi.

One the best missal I have ever had really good in taste,quality, quantity. Earlier I was pretty sure that katakirr is the best missal joint in pune but now my first preference is this and second katakirr.
To my surprise for breakfast had Misal Pav from This place thought of giving it a try. But it’s not only good in taste but a real puneri misal 👌🏻. Had ordered from Swiggy so estimated time for arrival was given of 50 minutes but again it was at our door step within 35 minutes. Well packed, good quantity, properly given and also was warm till we had.

This has to be one of the best Misals in Pune. The way it's prepared along with the rassa in a separate cup just amazing. The coconut barfi was very sweet. The Tak was just about perfect. This is typical Marathi authentic taste snacks center. Have been here almost 20+ times now for Misal and still counting. Some of my friends find it too spicy to eat, but I just love the combo of Misal and Tak followed by khobaryachi wadi (coconut sweets) to balance the taste. Normally there is some wait as the place to sit is limited. I feel this is one of the identity of 'Khavayye (Foodie) Pune'.
There is always a personal top favorite list of food+place combo, for me this is one of them.

Was in Pune for an exam. Wanted to have some authentic missal pav hence browsed through zomato for some suggestions. Thankfully we found this amazing place which was walking distance from our hotel. Its a very basic and tiny, come-eat-go kinda place which serves some mouth watering authentic missal pav. Since we landed during peak lunch hours, this place was brimming with people. We had to wait 15 mins to get a seat. But those 15 mins were worth the wait. Missal pav was super spicy and tasty, served with onions, lemons and a lip smacking tari. Oh lord it was soo good! And the quantity of missal was generous!
We also asked for taak (buttermilk\chaas). That taak was soo damn amazing that we had 2 glasses of it each. Having 1 bite of hot and spicy missal pav followed by 1 sip of chilled and sour chaas, was satisfying. Come here, eat and go. Do not expect any luxurious treatment here. Totally pocket friendly. Lovely experience in Pune! Cheers. :)

If u need spicy like hell u need to put that more taarri which means a red curry come in the mug and if you need a normal taste u should add makti ki sabji which is cooked sprouts. And the taak which is buttermilk awesome taste and much needed beside misal. The ladus are also awesome to taste. When ever my friends or family say for the shree kala misal i am ready anytime. It's is also known as Abba misal.
A good misal option than the conventional ones in heart of city. The tarri is good. Opted for a medium one. The place is more known for its spicier misal option. Good to try out once in a while if one's looking to break out from the cluster of regular outlets, traditionally favoured by punekars. I personally found it far better than ramnath (on taste), katakirr and bedekar (on VFM).

Placed in opposite lane of KEM hospital. Small place . Medium spicy misal pav with a great taste. May not be that famous but it has its own fan club. They also serve various sweets . Buttermilk is also satisfying. Nice for a breakfast.

every city and every house has their own version of misal...my mom has her own recipe too..so its not about the correct recipe..its about the taste! its about your ears going pink blowing smoke and your nose watering and you still want to eat coz its so tasty!.. this is a tiny joint serving mainly misal..the quantity is quite filling..they had put in sizeable portions of sprouts and a good variety too..they gave me a less spicy curry to pour on top compared to the fearsome red tarri that you can see in the picture..both were really tasty...i ate cautiously as i had to journey to bombay later and i was worried about my tummy protesting!..soft fresh pao soaked in tarri and curry is comfort food at its best..the service was quick and really amicable..theres a difference between uptight politeness and coarse kindness that you often experience at such homely joints..well for dessert we had a coconut barfi and a motichur ladoo..the coconut barfi was the best in this world..better than my mum's and thats saying something!..it was soft amd melted in the mouth leaving little pieces of grated coconut..do try it...the ladoo was yummy too...for two misals two sweets and lots of satisfaction i paid rs110...not much right!

As a Misal Freak, I like to visit and taste new misals. This one of my favourite Maharashtrian Food.
It's very difficult to get the taste with the spice, at some restaurants you get only spicy taste but nothing more, but here it gives you spicy kick, awesome taste. The combination of Farsan, Poha, Aloo Wada(potato) will make a memory in your mouth and you will definitely want to visit another time. Just loved it!!!
PS: Must have Buttermilk and Sweet after the misal.
Ond of the oldest place serving excellent misal in pune. The misal was medium spicy for me aptly balanced with good quality Farsan. Must try when you are in that area. The taak served is also nice.
Being from Pune, I've tried almost every well known/ popular/ talked about misal joint in the city, but after visiting this place, visits to all other misal joints have drastically come down :)
Almost every visit ends up with waiting about 10 mins or so, the misal, the spices, the sample is worth the wait and the travel too if you're coming from another part of town. A perfect balance of taste and spices this is definitely a delight to start a day.
One of the best misal paav places in Pune. One of my friend took me once and then have visited with other friends and family.
When kids find it spicy you can always ask for Mungfali laddu or bundi laddu that is what I usually do, while I am busy having that extra rassa and extra paav.
Worth a visit if you love misal paav, place is small and crowded and it's difficult to get seat inside hence most of the people have it outside standing.

This place turned out to be quite a surprise..!! Had heard a lot about the Misal here, so visited on a Sunday with friends. The eatery is famously known as 'aba Pawar Misal' after its owner who is quite popular with patrons.
First and foremost, the Misal being served is quite different in the sense that it doesn't contain 'farsan' as is traditionally served. It rather consists of kandepohe as the base alongwith mashed potatoes, shev and of course the rassa bhaji. They serve unlimited tarri and also green spicy chutney for those opting for a chilli kick of spiciness. It's one of the best Misal Pav I have ever had anywhere.. Loved their different take on the traditional Misal Pav.
Another interesting & Mouth watering dish is the Sabudana Khichadi on offer here. Now this too is a different take on the traditional serving; the Khichadi is served mixed with Dahi and cucumber sliced into small pieces with garnishing of spicy upvas chivda made from potatoes. Yummy..
Just have the above two dishes and to finish it off, have a glass of Chaas with the Motichoor Ladoos.. Pure heavenly bliss.
PS - the place is sometimes crowded, be ready to wait and secondly Misal is available mostly/only till 2 pm.

I have tried Katakirr, Ramnath, Bedekar before, but trust me this is the best misal I've came across in Pune. Visited this place on Sunday. They serve the misal with poha, potato, Shev (NO FARSAN). The speciality here is they use Shev instead of farsan unlike other misal joints in Pune. You can deamand extra tarri and rassa as well without any extra charges. The owner is also very nice. Truly a wonderful experience. Looking forward to visit again.

Awesome misal paav and khichdi..if you are fan of spicy food then you should try misal paav there. Poha is also an excellent option there. laddoo and barfi are also good there..try matha (salted lassi) also..it is also good.

Just had misal & sabudana khichadi, awesome taste. Firstly the misal: it's different then the rest in the sense that it is spicy but doesn't leave a burning sensation once you are done. The sample (rassa) is with lots of matki instead of just watery. Pav was equally soft & fresh.
Now the sabudana khichadi; opted for it to balance misal. It was really unique witj superb taste. Filed with kakadi pieces & topped with batata sev; this plate is indeed trying.
As usual lastly we opted tak (buttermilk) which was simple not to masala etc; just slight salt & jeera.
Lastly would have given 5 but for ambience.
Be ready with a bottle or two of water before you enter this place to have the trade mark misal. The misal is tasty though it gives your taste buds a treat it might bring tears out of you and make your ears red.
And the khichadi is also a must try! Abachi misal is a thumbs up.

I searched and read on several blogs for GOOD misal in Pune, and thought of, trying each one of the misal, while visiting pune. And I finally reached this misla joint, it is also called as ABA PAWAR misal. It is Kolhapuri misal. It is Hot & SPICY, though not that hot.. Now coming to misal, it has good farsana, the good thing about this misal, is you get good amount of Rassa (in pune they call it as Sample). The rassa is loaded with lots of pulses (matki, vatana, etc), High quality rassa, not just water rassa, you get at other places. The Rassa is Spicy, Slightly Hot and does not have Kata Kirr (Tari or Oil). You have one misal pav with rassa and you are full for next 4-5 hours. MIsal is priced very reasonable. The restaurant itself is a small place, just opp. to KEM Hospital. Not great ambience. In my opinion this is the tastiest misal in Pune. I am still trying to taste some more misals in Pune. This is one is better than Bedekar misal, bedekar is puneri misal, and rated bit down than this misal..

The most famous misal in Peth in Pune is the misal of Kala Snacks Centre-Aba Misalwale.
Aba Misal is in Rasta Peth. This is one of the oldest misal places in Pune.
I have been relishing misal here since 2011. If you try this misal, you will know the difference between other misals and this misal.
Delicious, zingy is the hallmark of this misal. In this misal, a specific sev is used and it also uses prepared poha, potato and fried poha. The misal tarri here is very spicy. This is a great place for those who love spicy food.
As I said above that a different type of shave is used in Misal here, here it is also sold.
Another good thing is that different types of ladoo are sold here. Like Peanut Ladoo, Motichoor Ladoo, Gum Ladoo, Khajoor Ladoo, Khobra Barfi etc. You can try this once, you will like it very much.
Also the sabudana khichdi, buttermilk here is also delicious.
Two-three years ago, the price of Misal here was Rs 70-75. But now it is priced at Rs 60. Sabudana Khichdi is available here for 60 rupees.
Food prices here are a bit high but the food is of good quality.

Small original shop selling best misal pav here. Sitting arrangements are in line facing the wall instead of normal tables in a cafe. Misal pav taste is too good and much less costly than any other famous original misal pav joint in pune.
Here the special thing is that the rassa already have matki in it so you don't need to order extra and pay extra for matki. Also onions are complementary and free. Here buttermilk is worth the price in its true sense. Bigger quantity and better quality.
First you have take a coupon from the main counter inside then go to serving counter to take your own misal pav ( self service here) and then secure a empty place to sit. This place is always crowded due its quality and taste despite low prices.
First misal pav is of ₹80 with 2 pav and then each pair cost ₹10 and buttermilk cost ₹20. They will provide you with other things at your seat but First misal bowl is to be self served.
