Authentic South Indian idli vada samabhar(spicy). I didn’t like the dosa much there but idli and medu vada are delicious. On weekends it is usually crowded during breakfast and dinner times so to avoid disappointments be early as they run out of food sometimes

Low budget friendly restaurant in neighbourhood.
Never get disappointed whenever I visit.
You will get South Indian idli and dosa varieties in low cost.
The taste is good and consistent, I have been seeing this snacks center since 5 years down the line from road to shop and the taste has never changed yet, that's the good part.

One of the best place in wakad and Vishal nagar to have south indian. The offer a god range of south indian at a very decent price. The only one thing is that the seating arrangement is average.

They also have a branch at wakad chowk, we run there every time we are lazy to cook.

We have visited this place so many times to remember. This place is our favorite when we craves for south Indian food.

This is a small place with very average ambiance running by some south Indian folks.

When we visit this place we generally eat mendu wada, dosa and uttappa. All are very tasty and have original south Indian taste. But recently we have started having the sambar as it has become very spicy now a days.

The prices are very pocket friendly and they only accept cash.

This is a must to go place if you love south Indian food. :)

Its a place for south Indian breakfast items, located besides road opposite to copacabana restaurant. The place opens at 07:30 AM, so ideal for early breakfast.
Food: The quality of idli, dosa and wada is very good. Sambhar remains on a spicy side and quite consistent in taste...though there some days when it doesn't taste upto the mark.

Ambience: Typical roadside eatery it is, they 5-6 tables with four chairs apiece. Else, you stand outside and have your meal. There is tea vendor who keeps popping in periodically and serves great tea.

Service: Service is fast

Overall it is great value for money and ideal place to go for breakfast if you love south indian items for breakfast.

Its a small place having pretty decent south indian food for morning breakfast.
Idli, vada, dosa , uttapa all are above average. Sambar is too spicy always, chutney is also not that good. Service is quick most of the time.
Little small area for comfortable sitting, suitable for take away.

Vijay Snacks is an ideal place for having morning breakfast in Vishal nagar especially for  South Indian food lovers like me .
I am simply fond of its crispy medu vada, dipped in sambhar and cutney .!!
Dosa's and uttapam are also worth try.But their taste keeps changing.
Coming to ambiance ,its just like any other small roadside restaurant with self-service. And yeah, they also outsource tea from outside.
A place to have breakfast/evening snacks with excellent taste at at very reasonable price

If you love going out for early morning breakfasts, this is the place in Wakad. Conveniently located, opposite Copa Cabana, this place offers amazing South Indian food. Please do not expect anything fancy as far as ambience is concerned. It is a typical roadside shed with self service. They have around 5 tables laid out. But yeah, the food they serve is excellent!
They have tried to create a USP by using Garlic Herb Butter in their dishes. Their Butter Dosa and Cut Dosas are to die for!
There is a tea vendor who keeps visiting this stall and also nearby places. His tea is an added bonus.
The best part is that they open early in the morning at around 7.30 am.
It is a perfect place for lazy Sunday mornings.
For people staying in and around Wakad and who are South Indian Food lovers, this place is heaven.
Do check out the pics in this review to get a glimpse!

Amazing place to catch up on some nice breakfast. Menu is limited but whatever they serve - they serve it real good. Special mention for medu wada - crisp and succulent. The sambar is also very palatable and feels authentic south indian. 0.5 rating deducted as the place doesn't inspire much confidence with hygiene and also, room for improvement in chutney as it is a little bland. Overall, amazing place, at par with Vaishali and Idlicious if only taste is considered.

I love this place in Vishal Nagar area. This eatery is located opposite Copa Cabana restaurant besides Gajraj cleaners.
They have a simple menu where you can order Isli, types of Dosa, Meduwada. The preparations are very prompt and you will be able to grab a quick bite on your way to office.
The taste is really good,a simple menu also keeps your mind clutter free while ordering.
They do not have ample space to sit and eat and therefore at times one may have to stand and eat as well.
Nevertheless,a must try restaurant in Vishal Nagar, Pimpley Nilakh area for a sumptuous south Indian breakfast :)

I have trying various South Indian breakfast points in the city since last four years, but never found any place that I can say is good, But not the least this place is one good one that's been serving good vadas, decent idli, variety of dosa, especially the vadas are too good and crispy, Sambar was good although not a super hit fare, but chutney is OK. When it comes to chutney I like the thick chutney with coconut, moong palli, ones

Once upon a time I was a crazy fan of idli's served at Vijay snacks. A couple of years ago when it was a roadside stall and we used to have idli's standing on the road I loved the sambhar and texture of the idli's. But over the time it has lost the touch. I have to say it is not same as before. Still I drop at this place sometimes and order dosa and idli in a hope I would get the same old texture. But Alas...I am yet disappointed. I rate this place 3.5 based on what I used to have before.

Vijay Snacks is one and only VFM south Indian place in entire Pimple Nilkah to enjoy south Indian fare. It is situate opposite Copa Cabana.

USP's of Vijay Snacks are :

1. Freshly prepared south Indian Food in front of you be it Cut Dosa,Sada Dosa,Masala Dosa,Set Dosa,Meduwadas  and Uttapam
2. Road side small joint with four seating tables where you don't need to wait long for food
3. Super Quick food service.
4. Grab a bite on your way to office.
5. VFM South Indian Food
6. Sambhar is basic without any madras onion and drumstick but you can still have the gingerly hot feeling in your throats after gulping it and is consistent in its taste. Though patrons eating here know that MEDUWADA's size has varied.7. Simpler menu which never confuses one on what to order.

In a nutshell a recommended place to have quick south indian food without any frills in Pimple Nilakh.

Food: Tasty South Indian at very low prices of all dishes. Specially the Sambhar (Rasam) is very tasty here. I have tasted Masala Dosa, Masala Uttappa, Cut Dosa & Medu Vada. In terms of hygiene, you might want to take little care as they cook under roof and openly.

Service: Fast

Ambiance: Not applicable as they have 2-3 plastic tables and few chairs in small space (a shop)

Recommendation: Cut Dosa (in Butter)

Perfect lane of south as we call it. Its our staple breakfast on a weekend. Then we can start the day. Opening hours are a bit of hitch. Won't be available in afternoon. Also the hours its open, its flooded. Any one plate is sufficient to stuff a normal appetite person. The best place to start a day as per me.

Vijay Snacks has had a change of location within the same locality and is now located next to WS Bakers and Chokolade.
There is nothing fancy about this place, it has just four tables and some standing space within the premises. If you are not among those who get a seat, then you may have to stand outside.
But none of that matters. The reasons are as below:

- This outlet serves basic south Indian food. (Helps make a quick decision about what to order)
- The service is way too quick then that I have seen at any other joint with such a capacity.
- For just Rs 20, you get a plate of idli or wada (four pieces as against the normal two pieces served at most joints/stalls)
- Sambhar and Chutney have a unique, consistent taste.
- Dosa variety includes Sada, masala, set and Cut.

The place is crowded in the morning with office goers having their breakfast here and is crowded in the evening with most working professionals(But still they don't forget the orders and serve with agility) either stopping for a light snack or because their cook didn't turn up.
The pricing is very decent and seems too good to be true at times. Despite the change in location, the prices and hygiene standards remain consistent.

Ratings:
Food: 3.5/5
Pricing: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5

Price: 4/5

Ambiance: Not applicable(Basic tables-chairs of plastic and with just enough cleanliness)

Service: 4/5

Overall: 4/5

If any one wants to see how a niche business model run successfully then Vijay Snacks can be a great example.I can say that this is the most famous dosa, idli and wada center at least in Wakad area. The best part of this outlet is they deliver your order really fast without compromising quality. Two people can have their breakfast here in Rs 90. Run by a South Indian family.

It is a no frills show where you can get different version of Dosa and Uttapam at cheap price, good taste and in less time. You have to serve yourself.  Some time you will find their Shambhar or Chutney is not up to the mark but that is because may be on that day they have served more than their regular crowd.

As a regular visitor to this outlet and never dissatisfied. Interesting part of their focused approach is they don't even serve tea. Outlets like Vijay Snacks play a great role in making life little easier in the hustle bustle of city life.

This place I stumbled upon in Jan 2013.... I was waiting to catch my bus to Mumbai in the mean time I decided to have something and went to this outlet next to the travel office (the old shop)...

Surprisingly the Food was too good... had Medu vada & Idli @ that time... Recently I went to this place for getting Early mrng breakfast and I must say quality has not changed yet... although I did felt Medu Vada's have gone smaller!! :P

But Jokes apart the place offers you great south indian food @ cheap prices ... I took Medu vada , Idli , Onion Uttampam & Masala Uttapam... All of them were too Good and plan to keep visiting this place again and again..... :)

Highly Recommended for all the foodies and spcly if u love south indian food... which I do!!!

Vijay Snacks (right opposite Copa Cabana) reminds me of that series of ads a little while back for a major fastfood chain which had the tagline –“aapke zamaney mein, baap ke zamaney ke daam”!!! Nothing describes this joint better in my head than that! It is a marvel that this humblest of humble eateries is able to serve such wonderful fast-moving basic troika of dosa-idli-wada at prices that are possible only if you time travel a couple of – not years – but decades back!!!

I am mean seriously if you want some balm on your inflation-weathered self, make a breakfast trip to VS, come back satiated and with hope renewed that there are still honest-to-goodness food outlets which are not out to make a big bakra out of you by all that jazz of decor-shecor, cuisine-shuizine, ambience-shambience (pun intended!!), daaru-waaru, crew members dressed better than you and dinnerware so polished & breakable, you are almost scared to eat lest you scratch them!!! Vijay Snacks is my go-to place for such hope reaffirmation when many eating-out experiences leave me sore about the sort of things so many establishments can get away with, just on the basis of style backed by zero substance!!!

This was the grand breakfast we had the other morning – in 15 minutes from arriving to exiting: A plate of 4 IDLIS swimming in a mix of SAMBAR & CHUTNEY for a mere Rs 20, a plate of 2 fantastically fresh MEDU WADAS in a similar pool for Rs 20 again and one plate of MASALA UTTAPPA for Rs 30 (the second costliest item on the list; SET DOSA is a whole Rs 10 more :-0!!!). So, for Rs 70, two people ate a fresh, flavoursome and quick breakfast – I have paid more for sometimes buying mere bread which I would then have to convert into some appetizing snack dish!!! What an illogical world we live in!!

If you specify in advance, they'll serve the COCONUT CHUTNEY separate to the SAMBAR for an IDLI or MEDU WADA plate. For the DOSAS & UTTAPAS, they use a steel compartmentalised tray so things are contained within the boundaries of their respective enclosures. The IDLIS are soft, like the ones you get at a home of someone from the South, the WADAS fried on-site are crisp & spongy and the MASALA UTTAPPA is a stiff competitor to MASALA DOSA with a very lovely stir-fried onion-aalu bhaaji within the folds of an oniony uttappa crepe - why haven't others thought of this variation, I wonder.

The joint is self-service – so if you are eating there, you place your order, take a seat inside on the rickety plastic furniture, stare at the plastic jug on the table for a minute and before you know it, someone will bellow out your order and that’s your signal to go and fetch it! Otherwise, order takeaway which I have never found any reason to do, so far!!

A wonderfully sweet man, episodically loudly grumpy with his staff but ever-welcoming towards his clients, stands at the entrance manning the huge griddle which is basically his sole weapon of choice – it is on that hot griddle that he single-handedly rustles up all the dosas & uttapas his loyal clientele (composed of many a working singleton as also family walas residing in the neighbourhood) gobbles up through the day. In gratitude, on many occasions, I would have jumped across the counter to plant loving pecks on his cheeks and such like display of affection . . . however I don’t, simply because the last thing I want to do is shock him senseless . . . I love him enough not to embarrass him like that!!!

A typical engaging conversation which I almost seek out with this adorable man goes something like this:

ME: Anna ek set dosa please.
HE: [shouting to his boy] Ek medu wada plate doh madam ko.
ME: Nahi nahi Anna . . . SET DOSA.
HE: Ok ok. Bethon andar . . . main deta.
ME: Anna mein menu board ka ek photo ley sakti hoon?
HE: Ek aur uttappa chahiye?
ME: Na na . . . photo [wild gesticulation of clicking a hypothetical camera] . . . menu board ka. Loon?
HE: [Breaks into a smile] Ok ok.

I never thought I will but I am going to now quote Chennai Express (yes all sad shaking of the head as to how low my standards have fallen are justified but in my defence, I DID NOT watch that film on any medium and am only quoting a line from one of its songs caught on MTV) to communicate that such a lively place and conversation truly makes me believe “North–South ki kat gayi dekho doori hi saari”!!!

No matter wherever you go geographically, the love in different people for food from different cuisines is always the same. For example, the love for Chinese/Italian food has seen Indians adapt to these cuisines so effortlessly and beautifully. Moreover, we gone a step ahead of the Chinese and made their cuisine our own by making our own Indianised (spicy) version of Chinese food.

But, some cuisines are pure classics and they must be better left at their originality. I am referring to the one, which is served here, at Vijay Snacks-- South Indian. The simplest of all cuisines across India, and better relished when it is not experimented with.

I believe Vijay snacks deserves all the appreciation for keeping that intact!! Its like having south indian food in its purest form , unadulterated. The menu is very concise, consisting half a dozen kinds of dosas, a couple of uttapas, idli, medu wada and tea.

Whenever I have been here, I have always tried more than one things on the menu, and by now, I have tried everything.
Only in south India , will you get excellent idlis and wadas at a reasonable price. This fact is now turned into a myth, by Vijay Snacks. They serve a plate of idli (4 regular sized idlis) drenched in sambhar and chatni for a mere Rs 20.
Idlis, that are fresh, warm, soft and good to taste. Medu wada that is served here, is very much alike, hot, crispy and tasty.

Dosas are brilliant !! The speed with which they are prepared is breathtaking. I have never waited for longer than 7-10 minutes for our order, even in a group of 4. My favorites are Butter Cut dosa, which has chopped vegetables stuffed in a cripy, buttery layer of dosa. The one that I love the most is the Butter Plain dosa, which is simply amazing in taste. It has loads of butter on it, is crispy, and tastes lovely. Set dosa is also good in taste, just that it is not as cripy as other dosas, but is indeed heavy on the stomach.

A special mention for the sambhar and chatni, which are excellent add-ons to everything served here. Even the cup of masala tea served here, is refreshing, and pleasant in taste. There is NO compromise whatsoever on quality of food, and food hygiene is never a concern at this place.

I have seen this place grow from a small eatery with just 6 chairs, to a bigger place now, with 6 tables and almost 30 chairs.Even after having achieved such a milestone, they have not increased the prices even by a penny. The staff at this place is very helpful and friendly. However, this place is a self-service restaurant, and quite understandably so.

To sum it up, Vijay Snacks is an absolute gem of a place. Its been about 8 months since I have been visiting this place, and with each visit, I have developed more & more admiration for them. It is one place, where 2 people can eat awesome food to their heart's content at a price of under Rs 150. I wish them more success in the coming days!!
I genuinely thank the Zomato team for putting all the efforts to have this place listed !! Genuinely, this place deserves a Zomato listing.

At the end, just to thank my Vijay Snacks friends in their own style, let me say that each experience I have had here has been "Rumba Nalla" :) :)

Vijay Snacks Center shines when it comes to South Indian fare. Their Masala Dosa is a must-try, with crispy, paper-thin crepes stuffed with a flavorful potato masala and served with tangy coconut chutney and sambar. The Idli are soft and fluffy, perfect for soaking up the delicious sambar. And don't miss their Vadas, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of spice. Ambiance and Location: Vijay Snacks Center is a casual eatery with a simple and clean ambiance. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable and perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends and family. The location, opposite Copa Cabana in Vishal Nagar, is convenient and easy to find. Overall: Vijay Snacks Center is a hidden gem in Pimple Nilakh that serves up delicious and affordable South Indian fare, along with a surprising variety of other Indian dishes.
