A small place which serves biryani, Thalis and curries.
We had chicken and mutton biryani. They portions are quite nice and the taste is great too.
Like name you will eat "potbhar".
Prawns sukka is very good. All chicken as well as biryani dishes will give you a good taste.
From last many years visiting this place when get a chance.
No change in taste at all. Very happy to visit again and angain.

Good quality food and good quantity too. Just need to take care of packing of parcels while handing over to delivery person to avoid spills.
really special chicken thali anyone chicken lover should try it
Ordered Eggs masala excellent taste and sufficient quantity of food. Charged RS 12/- as packing charges but packing was in ordinary plastic bag covered in grey paper bags. Either they should waive packing charges or improve quality of packing.
Moreover it is suggested that instead of supplying lime and onion (cut for long time back) which is not fresh, they may provide onion mixed in curd.
always best quality food.
food was delicious, tasty, perfectly cooked
delivery on time currently
The food served here is great. Biryani, mutton kheema, chicken tandoor are most recommend by me. Staff is also friendly. My most favorite 2nd biryani in town.
very Happy with food and Delivery service
Kolhapuri style Food, tasty and Pocket Friendly.
The Look & Feel is not that great but Clean.

***** Hotel Potbhar Biryani, Karve Nagar, DP Road, Tathawde Udyan Road Corner *****
Yesterday I was alone at home and was looking for lunch places near by.
Wanted to visit newly opened resto Thali & Co. But It was closed.
Was roaming around DP road in search of hotel and spotted this Potbhar.
A small restaurant serving Biryani and chicken/Mutton thalis. As I was alone, finishing Biryani all alone was quite tough task, hence opted for "साधी चिकन थाळी (Simple Chicken Thali)" costs 160 Rs. and contains chicken masala, Rassa, 3 Chapati and plain rice with Raita.
Their special thali contains many items but I was not hungry enough to take that.
This much was more than enough to me.
Thali served in 10 mins and food was fresh and piping hot.
Spice balance was perfect. Rassa with squeezed lime tasted yummy. There were 4-5 chicken pieces having good amount of flesh.
Masala and Rassa was tasty.
Chapatis were not so good, but manageable.
I loved Raita (दहिकांदा) as well and it was perfectly complimented spicey Rassa and chicken masala.
Then ordered Sol Kadhi which I felt must to have considering heat outside.
It had perfect malwani taste. Overall entire meal had malwani type cooking touch.
They are specialized in Biryani and it seemed to be very good, as I saw many people were taking parcel. I will try it for sure next time.
They have seating capacity of 10-12 pax at ground floor and may be mezzanine is reserved for families with almost same capacity.
Overall it was satisfactory meal.

Serves one of the best Mutton as well as chicken thali in town.
Mutton biryani is very tasty and the quantity served is also sufficient.
Staff and ambience is good enough.
Very good place to visit. Specially chicken biryani is awesome here. You can also get biryani in thali with rayata. if you are traveling from sinhgad road or karve nagar please do visit here.
These guys really know how to make the food taste good and healthy for you in a decent pocket friendly price. The food is finger licking and the biryanis and all other chicken starters are awesome, the place is quite small for a large group of friends but take-away option is available. Overall, good service, even better food.
Best of all in this area. It's Biryani is far better as compared to P.K. I go to this restaurant for years but never saw compromise in quality & quantity, at the same time their prices are very reasonable.
Competing the PK Biryani, they locate just next to them and is relatively small outlet compared to PK.
It's one of the best biryani I've tried in Pune so far. The quantity is good but the parcel has a quantity almost double of what you get when u dine in. Chicken dum biryani and tandoor is just fabulous and mouth watering.
They don't offer pandhra and tambada rassa but whatever they have on their menu is great.
Service is fast and staff is also polite and friendly.
If you like places with ambience then this place is not for you!
This outlet is next to PK biryani house, small hotel offering some good non veg food. I have tried Mutton masala over here which was quite good at taste. They don't offer Pandhara and Tambda rassa. Salads are fresh over here. You may try out this restaurant, it won't disappoint you.
Ordered chicken biryani and tandoori chicken. Loved it !
(I haven't tasted the other dishes that people are complaining about, but it's a great place for biryani lovers.)
'Potbhar Non Veg', the restaurant located beside Hotel Amchi, near Rajaram bridge in Karve Nagar.
Basically a Maharashtrian restaurant which serves variety of spicy non vegetarian food.
Been here several times for the thali. Chicken thali available here has Chicken curry/masala, tambada-pandhra rassa, chapati, rice and salad. Spicy but not too heavy.
Like the Chicken thali, mutton thali can also be tried.
And there are starters available which includes fried fish, tandoori chicken, etc.
Certainly a good place to have a spicy thali meal.
I visited this restaurant as it was nearby and was fedup of having same taste of non-veg since past few months..i browsed on zomato and found dis place with good ratings n so finally I went here which was I Consider a wise decision.I went at around 8pm place was not crowded mostly as it was weekday..the staff was very friendly and greated me warmly.
Ambience- they have a decent ambience, nothing special but what i would mention is the cleanliness and hygiene 5/5 also they provide separate area of sitting for family dats a good point.
Service- was quick and the staff was attentive and humble. You dnt have to wait for your chappati between your meal.
Food-d best of dis place indeed.
If you are a true lover for Maharashtrian style non-veg dat too great in taste and economical dis place is for you. I ordered chicken handi half and bhakri d pieces in handi were more than sufficient for 2 ppl even 4 ppl can have it. The chicken was well cooked and rassa was perfect not exaggerating..d bhakris were also nice. Also i ordered angara kabab chick.which was spicy n so juicy dey dnt mention in menu but its great must try.
And d biryani I had chicken one half d quatity I felt a bit less according to cost ,pieces are more but i found rice was less..but otherwise the taste was among the best biryani in pune I Had.
I found this restaurant last year after wanting to try authentic Maharashtrian non veg food away from typical Punjabi/fake maharashtrian taste. We were damn hungry after a crazy holi day celebration with colors and friends.
We reached the spot, taken a bit back looking at the size of it but aroma of non veg made my tummy go crazy and forced my mind to get in.
We ordered chicken thali from simple looking, limited item menu card. And boy oh boy...we were instantly blown away by quality of food n taste with first bite! Chicken curry has that ghar ka khana flever to it! Mutton kheema simply put is OUT OF THIS WORLD made in pure ghee! I hated this dish all my life before trying it here..its so yum !
Biryani-is also speciality of them, prepared with a tadka of ghee tastes authentic maharashtrian. My better half many time emotionally blackmail me to drive to this place all the way from Vishratwadi :p
Cherry on the top is its pocket friendly! They also have fish but never tried.
We have been visiting this place for a while now, I have lost a count of trips I have made to this place. Their mantra- keep it simple, real n tasty!
So why only 4stars? Because
-if you are sitting upstairs, be ready to wait helplessly in the middle of delicious mean for roti or rice to arrive due to short staff
- conjusted place to sit. No AC. Can get hot in summers
-quality of chapati cab be better
-always carry cash, swiping a card you need luck with you
-high waiting on weekends or even on weekday sometimes
None the less if you are exploring next taste adventure for your tongue this is absolutely must try!
A place (after camp) to get a decently cooked biryani ... Tried full mutton biryani in sajuk tup ... My impressions as follows:
Definitely a take away place
Quantity: 👍👍 (may be because I told that I have come after reading reviews on Zomato)
Mutton pieces: 👍 (well cooked ... But I missed the softness which I am accustomed to while having the biryanis in camp) ... Also the mutton pieces were a bit less (as expected) ... But the biryani made up for it
Had some leftovers ... So tried it the next day ... And it tasted much more better 😀
Anyway I don't need to go all the way to camp now 👍
In Kothrud and Karve Nagar areas of Pune, there are many little jewels like this one in the little lanes of these areas. I have a friend of mine who knows these areas like the back of his hand and since he is a foodie, he knows the best places to eat out, especially authentic marathi food and home cooked food. The restaurants we go with him have nice homely food and they use homemade ingredients. That is how he suggested we try Potbhar.
Yes i can say this is the best place to get the Biryani in Pune.. I am going to this place since the past 7 months..Love the Chicken Biryani as probably the best we have eaten. Don't miss this joint if you love biryani...
Just like its name. We had biryani in 4 people it was sufficient and very good solkadhi. The place is cramped a lot. They should have a bigger place for this good food
Potbhar and P.K.Biryani hours are stone throw away from each other. Both has good reviews, on zomato and through from many many people.
But something you know, you go with your gut filling and you thank that you didn't go against it. Well, that happened with me.
I tried chicken biryani at Potbhar. It was awesome. One if the best I've ever had. Perfectly spiced, cooked amd had great aroma. Rice grains had such nice incense of spices used. Chicken was fresh and perfectly cooked. One can clearly make out that it is prepared in ghee. So all was jolly good in my world while I was having it.
The place is small and kind of easy to miss. So best bet is take away. But there are other pretty tempting items on the menu like prawns pulao, mutton kheema. Would love to try them some time soon.
I would highly recommend it.
osm place for non veg lovers,
mutton thali is the best here, you should try mutton kheema.
authentic mutton thali , must try.

authentic mutton thali , must try.
If anybody neglect this place because of its ambiance then they miss the real taste of nonveg. Chikan special thali and biryani is really awesome. Also mutton khima is awesome. There are lots of option and every item have good taste visit atleast once definitely you visit again and again
Got a parcel of prawns pulao yesterday. It was very tasty, well cooked, had the needed spices in the right proportion. The gravy was very tasty too. Thank you Potbhar. Will surely order again soon.
A small place that you might haven't notice while passing by. A good option to have non veg food. They have very few options but tasty 😋 and very light on you pocket.
Hi All
This is Sunil from Potbhar....Thanks to all for your comments....please visit us and give ys chance to serve you delicious food as all well.
Thanks again :)
Chota packet bada fayda... Thats right... Quick service, great taste... Authentic taste which u will love a lot... A must try place... Value for money..
Had bookmarked this place after reading the review from Gunjan Bhasin and finally got a chance to go there yesterday, and boy was he right!
The food was delicious with the meat well cooked, the service really good and the quantity of the food served was fantastic for the price quoted.
My cousin ordered the "Potbhar Special Mutton thali" which consists of mutton masala, Kheema, 3 chapati's, some raita, and finally a round of mutton biryani to complete the meal. All this within 300 bucks! You can also replace your chapati with a bhakri if you wish.
I usually don't eat mutton outside since its a bit chewy and I like my meat tender. However, when I tried the mutton dishes, the mutton was very tasty and tender! The kheema was delicious as well.
I personally ordered a Chicken Dum Biryani. The quantity served was great and the taste again very good. The best thing I liked about the place is that since all biryani's are made from "Saajuk Tup", you can have a guilt free meal if you're worried about consuming oily food. The "Eat less oily food, even if u crave for more" conundrum has been solved! The Solkadi was also good.
I will definitely recommend this place. Its a small joint, but it packs a punch. The only thing I can complain about is the hygiene, where the waiters will bring the roti/bhakri to you by hand and drop it in your plate. But hey, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

A friend suggested that we check this place out as it was yummy but cheap! It is a small place, easy to miss and from what I have seen so far, people usually choose takeaway as the place is small and the seating arrangements are limited even though they have a ground and first floor. We ordered chicken handi half, chappati and full chicken biryani. The chicken handi was really tasty, nice and spicy, just the way I like it but what stole the evening was the chicken biryani. They had made the chicken biryani from home-made ghee and the taste that comes from home made and processed store bought ghee is miles long. It was so tasty. The ghee made the dish so delightful. The masala was not too over powering (however, I would have liked more rice in the biryani). The masala in itself was so good! The chicken was simply melting in my mouth. It was so tasty that I simply could not stop eating it. The rates are also pretty reasonable. For the three of us, it came out to be 640rs. We actually had delicious potbhar-ke khaana
An ultimate destination for Sea Food and Biryani. Taste is awesome. Food is served hot. The place is conjusted but the taste of food will make you ignore it. Trying Biryani after Handi is good option.
This is best one and must recommend non veg hotel value for money
Good service, hygenic food
Thali is special here good weekend place for non veg lovers.
Homely, simple, tasty, value for money thats what came in our mind after having the potbhar thali.. Being a Maharashtraian thali lover..me and my Foodie friend always keep searching for good taste...bookmarked for a longtime But couldn't give this place a try may be coz of the address was not properly known or we were just waiting for some expert review..but thanks to the expert Foodie Gunjan Bhasin We got the proper address and the review made us to give a try with no waiting..
First finding this place was bit difficult coz the address given is not complete but the given navigation is approximately correct..the address is Rajaram bridge d.p road, tatavde lawn, next to hotel amchi, hingne karvenagar ..
The restaurant is small and simple with two sittings ground and upper floor..upper floor is for family.. the place is clean and hygienic with simple ambience..
Menu is also simple with limited dishes...we had two potbhar special mutton thali with chapati , bhakri and chicken 65 ....special thali had one mutton masala with 3 pieces of mutton, thambda rassa , kheema wati ,onion raita and shajuk tupatle mutton biriyani..
Mutton masala was good in taste but for me it was bit spicey ( I am not a good spice resistor) ..but for my Foodie friend it went well actually..Mutton was well cooked and had the flavor of masala..
Kheema was what I liked the most...it was less oilly and not at all spicey.. I cleaned the whole wati with one extra chapati.. Thambda rassa was as usual good in taste ..biriyani was a surprise.. usually in spl Thalis we get only biriyani rice.. but here in pothbhar they serve proper biriyani with 3 to 4 mutton pieces prepared in shajuktup(desi ghee)..biriyani tasted very good and was less oilly (satisfaction for me) ..
Before ordering chicken 65 we asked the service person is the 65 like the Chinese one.. he said it was not the Chinese style 65 ..it is bit different.. To our expectation it was different and good.. 8 pieces of chicken deep fried with special marination served with shezwan chutney.. Chicken was freash crispy tasted good with the chutney.. And it was not oilly ...it was a pleasure to have the thali and 65 less oilly...
All in all a must try place for Maharashtraian thali lovers.. nice place to take family and friends, value for money..a special thanks to Gunjan for his valuable review ..eagerly waiting to have my next visit and try their other dishes..
MERCI BEAUCOUP!! for reading..
I always keep hunting a decent place for nonveg thali and I guess my hunt is over now. This place was in my radar from last 6 months after going through the review of fellow foodie and a expert reviewer Sneha Bhave. Two weeks back I bumped in to try their "Sajuk Tupatil" cuisines (desi ghee cuisines).
This is a small joint right in the middle of Aamchi bar and PK biryani house. As soon as entered I could smell the aroma of Non veg cuisines.
I have a tendency to ask the best dish on the menu to the staff and I observed this trick always work for me. This time the guy attending me suggested to have Potbhar special mutton thali which consist of Mutton curry, Sajuk tupatil kheema, red curry, curd onions, mutton biryani sajuk tupatil and bhakri.
Mutton curry was best Maharashtrian curry I had till date.. It was not too spicy and cooked in kala masala. Pieces were perfectly cooked and it was going well with Jowar Bhakri.
Kheema was made in ghee (tup) and they served it in a decent quantity unlike other joints which serve in a small bowl. Kheema was again not too spicy and finely chopped and cooked. It was melting in the mouth.
Biryani was again the best Maharashtrian one I had till date. It was made in ghee and tasted yummy. It was a 3 layered biryani. Lower layer was boneless soft mutton pieces. Middle layer was masala of tomatoes and garam masala. And top layer was of rice. To my surprise biryani was less oily.
While having food I also observed they have fixed customers as every customer was having a chat with the owner and the staff. It is good and proves that this place is consistent and serving and managing trust.
They have two seating areas. One is for the family which is upstairs and other is common seating which is down stairs.
I will be visiting again to try their chicken thali.
Overall an excellent experience.

There are many biryani specials in pune ; they are all good but if you wanna taste the core Marathi biryani then you have to visit this place. Its a small place to have but I prefer taking parcel coz the quantity they give in parcel is no comparison to other biryani places. Parcel full biryani can be enough for 4 person. Its just yummy the spices they mix with briyani, its ultimate. That also have Thalia and some chicken curry dishes but Biryani is special over there and it cost 270 rs for full, that is so pocket friendly.
Awesome place for non veg lovers.
Very good food quality and test. Mutton is par above anything.
They make kheema in shuddha desi ghee.
For people who really wana have a typical Maharashtrian food a must go joint.
And its another Sunday we are having biryani from Potbhar. Best biryani in Pune at the moment ( earlier we had Borawake which was better than this ) . Biryani made up into gavran ghee has its special blend. Most important thing is , biryani is value for money. Half chicken biryani is sufficient for two ( rs. 150 ). Now they have started chicken 65 & chicken lollipop as well. Another imp point is , this hotel is located just beside the famous p.k. biryani house whose biryani is nowhere in comparison ( tomatoes in biryani ;) I don't know why people go for p.k even if better option available besides. One can also get fresh fish at Potbhar. I would recommend this hotel for biryani lovers.
