For past few months i have been looking for perfect homemade chicken with brown base gravy. Wherever i tried either the gravy color looks artificial or the chicken pieces are half cooked. I was so fed up with it that i literally gave up on trying anymore.
This place i came across Zomato, thanks to their review based platform with pictures of the food, by looking at the real pictures i got convinced to order and give it a shot.
To my surprise it was too good to comment. I ordered Chicken aloo kasha,it was the best chicken gravy i ever had in any restaurant.
If they continue to cook this way then it's a saviour for people who stay far away from home.
Chicken was so well cooked and juicy from inside. Aloo in the gravy add extra flavor and charm to it. (For an Assamese like me aloo is a part of our life 🤪)
Please do try their Chicken aloo kasha!!
The food is really good here. Please have chicken pakoda and chicken aloo kassa here. It has a homemade taste and I am sure you will love it. Dahibada-aloodam and chhenapoda are average in taste. The pricing is bit on a higher side.
Being an Odia, I always have a soft inclination towards Odia delicacies. If you would ignore this small, tiny space and focus only on taste, then you are right here. Cost is lil at the higher side, but worth to try place for east Indians who all are staying in Pune.
Authentic Odisha food and taste. It will give you a feeling of home. I had prawns, crabs and chicken from this place. The masala is just awesome.
Tiny place in Kalyani Nagar pune serving traditional cuisine from orissa, it's a coastal state with loads of sea food based recipes. Seating on the mezzanine floor with low head room. We ordered lollipop for the kids, not bad and served with schezwan sauce on the side. Had rohu fish in tomato based gravy, the fish was crispy, deep fired and then put in the gravy, nicely done and tasted good with steamed rice. Followed it with prawns besara, I. E, prawns in a mustard based gravy, was very tasty and loved it.
Had the tomato khejur sweet chutney, something odd about the tsmaste, so left it half ways. Ended with chenna poda, which was a cake made of fresh chenna and caramalised on One side, good twist to the rasagulla.
Recommended for fish lovers.
Being a oriya myself...i wanted to experience authentic oriya cuisine.....this restaurant serves quite tasty oriya food....although they serve normal north Indian and chinese items too but their main attraction is their oriya food....dont miss their chicken pakoda, oriya prawn curry and potola aloo bhaja....you will lick your fingers....food is very tasty....although the place is small and does not look very hygienic but the food compensates for it....4 stars from me
Simplistic and authentic place to try Odia food in the City. Visited with a friend from Odisha (that made our choices highly recommendable ). Fish curry, Prawns curry, prawn Biryani are the must try dishes. We started off with DAHI wada aalu dum ( As craving for this particular dish made us visit the place), and then the main course. Of courseI am going to be a regular visitor now.
Wishlisted already :PÂ - Dahi Pakhala, chhennapoda (dessert)
Very good food.. after having food it remembered my homely food.. outside Odisha .. this is mini Odisha... thanks a lot... surely visit again....
Food very excellent, staff are friendly, ambience very good. Specially odia chilly chicken very testy.and biriyani also .this restaurant is so near beside rbl bank.kankada khaiba is amazing. Very testy the chicken Roal.
Really balanced meals and tasty quick bites. Great friendly service. We've had lots of happy meals here! Thanks to the owner and his staff !!
Finding odiya cuisine is so tuff when you don’t stay in odisha., I was searching for the small fish/ chuna macho from decades and finally I was on vacation from Banglore to Pune., where I found this place., which serves amazing odiya authentic taste.. fish items are must try.. don’t see the ambience and decide the taste., taste is beyond everything.
We are planned in last weekend for The Chilika restaurant which is besides of the Kalyni veg Restaurant. As usual like every time, because I am regular guest here. The food was Superb and service is very humble. Speciaaly in Bangali and Odia food as well as other indian dishes as well.
secially fish besara, mutton masala, chicken chhili and Surmai tawa fry.
special sweets like cheenapoda and many more.
Oriya food joint.
Small place. U can have taste of oriya food. Dahi vada is awesome. For fish n sea food lover it is good place. But very costly compare to food quantity served.
Awesome food. Delivery time is good. I always have seafood here whenever I am in the city. They focus a great deal on customer satisfaction at priority. Try out the tandoori chicken and manchow soup as well as they are delicious.
Very good odia food. Also good fish in Odiya style with mustard gravy. Tasty sweet like chenapoda and rasagulla. Very good dahi vada Aludum and jackfruit curry
This is one of the best Odia Restaurant in Pune.. Try the special food like, Dalama,Badhi Chura( seasonal veg like parval, kathal)Rehu fish curry, Tawa fried fish, Tiny fish Rai, Chicken Chilly, Matka mutton n many more.. (spl sweet Chennapoda n Rasgola) recommend u to try this food at here..
Delicious Food mainly cooked in Odia style.Feels like you are eating at your home in Odisha. The restaurant is small in Size and will allow around 15 people seating capacity at a time.It delivers food for free in kalyani Nagar area. The price $$.
I went there with my husband, after his friends suggested him this place. I can never thank him enough... lovely food, though little down in ambience, but quite justifies the price in menu. It is one of those places where you cam taste some really nice odisha food, isnt that a change? We ordered rohu fish in mustard curry and rice with it and trust me we finished every bit of it. We ordered chhenapoda (sweet dish, odisha cake) and it was yummm.. all my rating is for food, service and hospitality,.ambience is the reason I am not giving it 5. Will recommend it to every one :) happy ;)
Very tasty food..specially odia chilli chicken. Very quick service.
Surely recommend. Also chicken kassa and chennapoda is delicious.
Must order
I had been there for lunch months ago. I don't remember the chicken dish that we ordered but overall, food was delicious. Chicken was soft, the curry wasn't too spicy. Aalu bhajja was awesome (though oily - a bit).
Don't expect too much wrt ambience as this is a budget friendly place to eat + they accept sodexo coupons (yay!!!).
The only suggestion would be to make sure that the person who picks up the dishes (n cleaning the table) is not the one who is also serving the food.
Overall:
Food: 3.5/5
Ambience: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Value For Money: 3.5/5
Food quality - is not bad
Food taste - dahi vara aloo dum (good), fish besara(mustard curry) - very good, dalma (bad; it was  more like daal with vegetable less like dalma), aloo potolo kasa (it was just ok)
Overally taste is good for non-veg.
Ambiance - poor quality, filthy.
Price - high in comparison to the overal quality and taste and ambiance.
Thumbs up if you are really craving for odia food, and can compromise on ambiance and price.
In my short visit to Pune I managed to visit this small and happening place. With familiar crowd and nostalgic food just took my heart away. Handi cook mansha(mutton) was just awesome with chenapodha (desert).Odiya people leaving in Pune must try this place!
Cheers!!!
Gr8 place to stay and eat some good chapati and chicken ..
This place is originated from gondia I think .. and its food has the touch of there making and may be the spices too .. There chapati should improve .. instread of machine they should make handmade chapati's .. There spicy food is cool . . so this place recommended for lunch and dinner .. Take some hungry with u ..

I am born and brought up in Odisha. I have really high expectations when it come to food as my mom's side is from Balasore and Father's from cuttack side. So well let me tell you this is North and south India in Odisha itself. Also, Odia food isn't always oily but sometimes it is. If we don't see oil on mutton curry (jhola in Odia) am sorry something is wrong already, I have tried Chenna poda, here and it's absolutely amazing, although I don't think everyone would appreciate this dish. Secondly macha besara( Fish in mustard gravy) absolutely like amazing, like my granny does it. Trust me not everyone can deal with mustard like I can, starting from French Dijon mustard to local made ones in my village I have tried many. It's am acquired taste. And I don't blame who don't like it. Then coming to Saag! When I ordered it is was cold of course, but home delivery! And trust me Saag travel directly from pan to plate. Hotter the better! . I agree lots can be done about ambience, cleanliness, but true my ("mother"(just 5% more)) tongue makes me give a thought and rating! Would go back here to try food more a few times before I agree on lots of reviews here!
Have gone through the entire menu yet.
Do improve, dear restaurant, Odisha is important to me. Also, I prefer Odiya over Odia . If you know what I mean.
Kill it Sahoo!
Restaurant is managed by i think orissa guys...but good taste of food..need maintain of hiegene.change ur service standard.wanna try again taste of food.
The only place in Pune where I get Chhenapoda (Kind of cottage cheese cake) . A traditional dessert from the state of Odisha. Though its not fully upto the mark but with no other options around it drags me here.
Among other Items I have tried prawn fry, chicken pakoda, kosha, biryani... All of them are just ok, nothing great about those.

Different type of options for both veg and non-veg. For me i usually going there only because of mutton and fish.Food quality and quantities are so good that i even bypass the look towards luxurious ambiance. Timing and servicing are up to mark and each staff are committed for the same. Any body have time then try once then further its up to u .....Thank u sahoo bhai for serving all zones food, more trace towards east Indian food.
Dear Foodies,
If you are really looking for some authentic Odia foods in and around Pune, you should definitely give your taste buds a try at this restaurant.
Though they serve all forte of foods starting from North Indian, Chinese etc but the specialty lies in the authentic odia dishes like Matka Mutton, Dalma, Fish Chilly, Dahibara Aloo dum etc.Â
The staff are very friendly and can not do enough to help make your meal an excellent experience. I'm a  regular visitor both for takeaway and eating in and have enjoyed some special odia cuisines...
Give it a try..
Soho is one of the oldest places in Kalyani Nagar and they have maintained their reputation all the time it is in one corner of kalyani Nagar and for new comers its next to bishop school now coming to the food their dishes are really very tasty specially their chicken dishes
You can get delicious odia food here. Out side of odisha. It's chenapodo was so delicious 😋🤤. Highly recommended for all odia people.
The only place in Pune which serves authentic odia food.
The place is small. Good for takeout
I have ordered online from this place many times and this place has never disappointed. Best authentic Odia resturant in Pune. Pure home like experience and my go to place to order from on hot summer weekends.
Dahi bara aludum taste was good, but price per plate is 90rs which seems quite pricy.. otherwise tasty is good..
Finally found one Odia cuisine Resturant in Wadgaonsheri,Pune . Food preparation is purely Odia style . You can enjoy the delicious food with good price . Location is good but place is small. Take away is better option .
Loved the food, didn’t yet get a chance to visit the place but ordered through swiggy and absolutely loved the aloo dum dahibara.. took me down to my childhood memory lane.. super authentic odia taste .. din bana diya.. suggestion to increase the menu for online order has fewer options.. looking forward to visit the place and catch up on almost all tasty odia cuisine .
Aloo bada and chena is my favourite
Happy to see odiya restaurant in Pune. Food is having authentic flavours of odisha. Reasonably priced also.
Excellent taste and service ,though the space is small the owner ensures best food and service
