Dakhkhan Delicacies, since this place is launched and it's so near my house, I had to pay a visit here and finally after a dilemma we went there on a odd Wednesday night. Place was not full at all, like 4-5 tables were occupied, till we finished our dinner around 9.30, it was a same situation. No waiting, big place, easy to spot on Sahakar nagar road and they only place in this area which serves thali and fish as well.
Ambiance: They have outdoor sitting which was closed on the day we have visited so we went inside. which is pretty good, they have tried to give this place a nice, rustic look. Old style decors with a yellowish lighting. Roof lamps looks damn good and the overall place gives nice and positive vibes once you enter. Wooden tables and chairs are on a bigger side and very comfortable. Curtains, lamps, small tress and table cloths, everything looks polished.
Service: Staff is attentive, will greet you with smiley face and ever the service is good. Tambda, pandhra served piping hot on request every time. Very prompt and quick service. The only problem I felt is staff is too eager to suggest items to the customers. When you pass on the menu on the table, give some time to customers to think and discuss about what to order. Captain gave us the menu and standing there, suggesting us what we should take.
Are bhai, thoda time to de, menu to dekh lene de !!! I literally had to tell this then only he left.
It's good to show attentiveness but it has to be only when requested.
Food: Surprise, surprise !! I had absolutely no expectations (I don't know why but I don't believe that a non-veg thali restaurant in sahakar nagar will serve this kind of pandhra rassa and chicken fry)
Dakhkhani Chicken Fry: As I told you, captain was so eager and he literally wanted us to taste this dish, so I thought ok, when he is insisting so much on it, let's give it a try. It was amazing, boneless chicken, deep fried to perfection, so juicy and tender chicken, ekdum gavran style masala try with a crispy curry leaves on top and caramelized onions. It was a perfect combination of spices and we loved it.
My wife don't eat that much and she was almost full with the chicken fry so we decided to have mutton masala thali along with a second rassa thali which costs Rs. 100 and serves tambda, pandhra with 2 bhakri/chapati.
Mutton masala thali: What is the best part is everything they serve is really hot and freshly made.
Mutton masala: Really good, mutton cooked perfectly, falling off the bone, thick masala which goes nicely along with the bhakri. A little more spicy would have been much better,
Mutton kheema: Average, I didn't liked it that much, a little too oily for my liking but tasted descent.
Pandhra: Best, lai bhari. Very soothing texture, aromatic, tasted way too good with perfect blend of spices. Overall texture was too good, not too oily which I always prefer.
Tambda: Again good, less spicy and less oily. I like rassa this way only, I am not a big fan of oily spicy tarri which most of the people prefer but I am happy with this much amount of spice and it tasted really good.
Dahi kanda: Okish, curd was not thick so not for my liking.
Bhakri/Chapati: Both were freshly made (not machine made chapati) and soft, no complaints.
Masala rice: Average, yellow rice with some chopped coriander and fried onions on top, tasted good with tambda rassa.
Overall, I liked the whole experience. I would recommend this place if you like less spicy yet tasty food.
