This place has been my favorite for South Indian breakfast.
They have recently opend a new restaurant in front of the old one with great seating arrangement.
The cheese masala dosa here is scrumptious 😋
Also i love the filter coffee.
This olace is very light on your pocket.
This place was highly recommended by my friend who is a regular and finally, we visited it for lunch. Parking was not an issue (for a 2 wheeler).
Ambiance is simple and subtle. The seating is outdoors and since the weather is (still) pleasant, one could enjoy food, chat and hustle-bustle on the road.
It is a self-service setup where you order at the counter and then go to the specific counter to get the food prepared. Everything gets done in a very quick manner. From cashier to the guys taking care of respective counters are friendly.
We ordered:
1. Masala Dosa: Amazingly soft, delicious masala and sambhar-chatni was out of the world. Loved every bite of it.
2. Idli medu wada combo: Soft idli and crispy wada.
3. Filter coffee: I had two cups implying that it was supremely tasty.
4. Cheese Mysore sada dosa: I didn't eat it but it was a 👍.
5. Butter onion Uthappam: I didn't eat it but it was a 👍.
6. Butter Onion Tomato Unthappam: I didn't eat it but it was a 👍.
Overall:
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Value For Money: 5/5
The only suggestion would be to keep the washrooms clean. Other than that, everything else is perfect. 👌
Yay, SOUTH INDIAN FOOD! If you crave something authentically South Indian, please please, come to this mess/canteen/restaurant. The uttappam? Amazing. The dosa? Delicious. The pongal? Yum! The filter coffee? ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING! Do not miss this one.

A must try place being in fatimnagar.
Location - fatimnagar. Pune
This is a perfect place for having authentic southindian breakfast. The place is so crowded in the morning but the staff is so friendly over there.
They have self service system. They serve variety of dishes like, idli, upma, dosa, etc.
As being foodie you have to visit everywhere jaha dikhe tut pado ...So I found this shree maharaja place all anna people there proper south indian and here you will get perfect south indian test of dosa , idali and appam and the filter coffee
One of the best places in Wanowrie for South Indian Breakfast. I recommend doing a takeaway from this place due to lack of seating area. We usually buy their ready-to-make dosa batter with chutney. We’ve also tried their Medhu Wada, Dal Wada, Idli Sambar and Mysore Masala Dosa. All of which were really good ! Whenever I crave South Indian food, this is the first place that pops into my mind !
One of the popular go-to places for South Indian breakfast in Wanowrie area. Though it doesn't have lot of seating options (Outdoor seating with few chairs only), the crowd there is always ready to wait for their chance to get in! Hygiene seems to be a matter of concern here. Food is fine and can be categorised simply as street side food.
Shree Maharaja will serve you some really authentic South Indian food. You have many options to choose from.
We tried-
1. Idli 3 pieces- Idlis they serve are soft and served along with Chutney made out of coconut and tasty Sambhar.
2. Mysore Masala Dosa- Dosa served is crispy and smashed potato and grated carrot and beetroot is spread over it and tomato chutney is also added to this spread. This Crispy Dosa along with veggies tastes super delectable. Chutney and Sambhar is served along with it. Do give it a try when you are here.
Overall a good place with value for money dishes.
If you are looking forward to have authentic south Indian experience, this place is a must visit. It is always crowded and staffs are friendly. Almost everything I had tried tastes good, starting from idli, dosas to sheera.
BREAKFAST DIARIES
SHREE MAHARAJA WANOWRIE PUNE
if you want to have some nice authentic SOUTH INDIAN BREAKFAST ,you must try this place.
the quality and quantity and taste is very nice as well a large variety.
This place is mostly crowded so you need patience.
IDLI 3pc- 4.5/5* @35Rs
SOUTH INDIAN PAROTTA KURMA- 5/5* @30Rs
If you want to have some nice authentic South Indian breakfast, you must try this place.
The food is really nice. I personally like idli sambhar very much. You also get a variety of dosa to choose from.
Those from Karnataka can get the combination of kharabhath and kesari bhath.
Not heavy on pocket.
Mostly always crowded, so you have to wait for your order a bit.
Wow what a delicious experience of South Indian food.after having 14km cycle ride to Shinde chatri I was too much hungry and found this place.the only crowdy place on the way to Shinde chatri in morning.actully I was little sad as we were only two girls hence unable to try all of the dishes. Next time will try to visit in big group to try of the dishes they serve.
This is more like a kitchen where you can go pick up your food though there are a few stools around for you to sit and eat there. The staff is friendly and service is quick. It opens early in the morning. They have a variety on their menu. Plain cheese dosa and medu vada are my personal favourites. You also get raw batter for vada, dosa and idlis and also the chutneys they serve. There quite a rush almost all the time.
Authentic south indian tasty. Wait time is very less. Light and fragnant flavors. Healthy food. Really a good place for breakfast. They serve super tasty and fragnant coffee.
I like their dosas, uttapams and tomato rice. They put small brinjals in sambar which is tasty but unique here in pune.
I have been to the place a few times; their ,dosas, idlis, vada, curd rice and lemon rice are excellent. The service is fast and the items are always fresh. The chutnies and sambhar are also much better than those served by some popular joints on FC road . The batter for idli is satisfactory but there is no separate batter for dosa . I suggest they have separate batter for dosa ! The parking for four wheelers is a problem so ideally one should go on a two wheeler .
Shree Maharaja is simply awesome with the tasty south indian cuisine. I liked the authentic taste of each dish served.
Wait Time is very less.
They justify value for money.
This is like our go to place for home style dosa. It's hygenic, yummy, made to perfection. Love their Mysore dosa - made with grated carrots and beetroot filling. And their tomato chutney is to die for. We visit them once and sometimes even twice a week!
Had the pleasure of super filter coffee ( just like Blore) with yummy masala dosa which has just the rite aloo filling. Suprisingly the coconut current was thick and tasty not bland and thin like most other joints.
Some level of hygiene is desperately required and a fly swatter needed too.
The 3.2 rating this place has is one of the reasons I feel these ratings are rigged.
Quick, cheap and yummy food is what they promise and they deliver on that promise.
If the lower ratings are basis any other parameter, it is completely unfair on the place.
They also sell batter and it is better than any stocked in supermarkets.
Best authentic south Indian restaurant in Pune. Great taste n quality..... gives the same feel as having in Chennai. A must try restaurant..
I always overeat when I'm here
- everything tastes so light and nice but is really a heavy meal in disguise. Highly recommend their Pongal and the Upma gives you a surprise - rightly or wrongly, its thinner and smoother than the regular upmas we are used to. Special note for the taste in their sambhar, good quality and soupy texture with a nice taste. Goes very well with almost all the breakfast dishes - pongal/idli/upma. Definitely a must try for those who love South Indian food!
Brilliant food, vast menu, quick service, light on pocket, great quality! What more can you ask for?!
They don't have seating space but who cares, this is a a typical South Indian spot for quick breakfast or snack. Live their filter coffee, daal vada and dosas!
A small shop selling hot and delicious south Indian food at extremely reasonable prices. You will love the onion uttapam and puri bhaji from here. A perfect place to parcel your lunch and enjoy at home.
Small southindian food joint, reasonable price. Tried their Mysore butter Sada dosa, medu wada, tomato uttapam and sweet shira. Sambar was good and chutney was ok ok type. Easy parking space available.
Best authentic Tamil south Indian joint. Not udipi , true Chennai taste awesome sambar, vada ,pongal, idli dosa, have tried many in pune but this is by far the best, even buy idli batter from here only. Very small joint but amazing true taste and always crowded.
An ordinary looking place, serving genuine South Indian delicacies. I have visited this place few times and whenever I visit I always have wada sambhar for sure its yum! The taste of South Indian snacks which I have tried over here is just superb and uncomparable. I tried vada sambhar, daal wada, idli sambhar, Masala dosa, Masala utthapa, tomato rice, lemon rice and believe me all of them tasted tastier. I like their coconut chutney which they serve with the snacks..its very good. Sambhar also has its unique south indian touch. The paratha kurma is good. Recommended to all who like having south Indian snacks.
Being a South Indian myself, my level of authentic South Indian food in terms of look, flavour, texture and taste is rather high. Maharaja meets almost all of this in a incredibly low price. I realize the decor is pretty average but all of us know where pani poori is at its best- not in a fancy restaurant!
One really cannot pull out the flaws in their culinary skills! They have an impeccable style of cooking and they serve authentic South Indian dishes. Taste you have never found anywhere else. I swear I have never had any tastier South Indian anywhere else. This is my regular joint for having snacks when I am bored of my routine lunch and dinner. My whole family likes the food. I love the taste of sambhar a lot. It is unique. I have had a lot of dishes here, namely sambhar vada, upma, tomato rice, lemon rice, sambhar rice, dosa, uttapa. I found everything really good. If you are a South Indian food lover, you better don't miss out this one... The dal wadas are amazing, though a little hard and paratha kurma is good.
Regular to this place for authentic south indian dishes.. Apart from regular idli, vada, dosa, they have daal vada, kurma parota, pongal, curd rice, lamon roce, tomato rice and awesome filter coffee.
Proper taste of south India with no sweet sambhar and tasty coconut and tomoto chutnies. Must try once for poori bhaji in breakfast
