Yesterday I was determined to visit a Kerala Cuisine for dinner. So thought of visiting Sva-ahaar for the first time with a little apprehension. But by the time we finished our dinner our experience were mesmerizing. A quick feedback : 1. Located in a prime location. 2. Ambience was cool. 3. Quality & Quantity of food was optimal. 4. Staffs were courteous. 5. Absolute value for money. Thanks to all the crew members of Sva-ahaar. God bless you.

We accidentally bumped into this restaurant while roaming around in JM road. Ordered Appam mini combo and puttu kadala. The taste of Black chana curry and chutney reminded me of home. This place serves decent food. The ambience and cleanliness is also nice. Will return to this place in the weekend for Sadhya and Unni appam.

We have been here thrice and each time we had a great time here. Quiet place on the busy JM road, warm hospitality. The mother son duo behind this homely startup personally supervise and at times even cook in the kitchen. Love their health food options, the salads and smoothies. So if some day you are not in a mood to have a full meal, you can safely opt for these and you will leave as one happy, satisfied soul. They serve pretty good Kerala meals, but run out of them early, especially on weekends. The dosas and appams too are good. Overall a great place and a good change from the regular stuff available everywhere.

Swahaar offer a unique combination of south indian and some continental dishes. Its a perfect place if you want to have a meal with a friend who has entirely different food choices from you. It will end up pleasing you both. The appam thali is a must try. So is the thai curry with brown rice. The choice of soups is very healthy ranging from broccoli to carrot soups. The herbal kaapi is truly soothing and tasty. The ambience and the staff are very good too. Must visit!

We ended up at this place while going to adjacent restaurant ' Aaoji - Khaoji'.

Ambience is small but bigger than take away joints.
Place is quiet and calm ,not too over crowded which kinda of make me liked it.

Staff : @tremely friendly , polite and nice. Owner is also considerate and friendly.

Menu :- Looks too overwhelming if you have never tried Kerala Food except idlis and dosa but certainly worth a look

Food : - It was different and yet delicious. It could have been
better for rice and few water like gravy that they served.

May be my love for North India Cusinie makes my taste buds bended towards more strong taste .

Having said that, I enjoyed the meal here.

Worth a visit for sure.

Value for money :- Paisa Vasool for me :)

Good to go with family, friends and a date only if it's not a first date and person has an inclination towards south taste.

Good Keralian Cuisine ā€¦. after a long time.Ā

While walking opposite HP Petrol Pump of J.M.Road (Nr. McDonalds), I found out this place. The entrance is side of the building, which takes to a tiny place, comfortable for few dinners at a time.

The Owner greets you well and offers to help you get the right choice of food. As I was looking for authentic Keralian Food, we ordered ā€˜Appam Comboā€™ and ā€˜Puttu with Curryā€™ ā€¦. Well, they have different option for Appam in combos as well as ā€˜A la Carteā€™ ā€¦.

My Appam Combo has 2 Appams; those made from rice batter and coconut milk, nicely done, soft in middle and crispy on sides. Itā€™s bang on with the taste and they serve pretty hot, which is like icing on cake ā€¦. Our Combo had Roasted Channa (chickpea) along with Chatni, Moong Curry, Rasam, Rice, Sambhar and Payassaam (it was SUPERBLY DONE, wish I could have had one more). Another thing we ordered was Puttu, 2 steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with grated coconut and served with Channa Curry (chickpea, bit spicy) and Banana.

Well on taste it is definitely a must try and but I would like to suggest Owner in making the place a bit brighter, as it bit dark. Food wise 10/10.

A restaurant serving authentic food from Kerala is always welcome in Pune. Went a bit crazy with the order & kept ordering one dish after another & since we were the only ones there ...it felt like home. We tried appam, puttu, iddiappam, tomato rice, chukka kappi, sulaiman chai & one dessert whose name escapes me. I was intrigued to read their health food menu too. Have to go back for that & to try out their thali.I read about this place in Pune Eats Out.

One of the nicest places for Kerala cuisine in Pune, especially if you like healthful and vegetarian foods. The restaurant actually advertises itself as a health food place more than as Kerala cuisine, but I think what's attractive is that they are able to present the latter in the former manner, whereas it usually comes in the greasy variety. The service is a bit slow, unfortunately but I think this is the only thing that I think could improve.

Kerala Thali at JM road - - feels indeed great when you really want to risk on a weekend ! Meaning, there are some places here in city which are actually busy on weekend rather than a boring weekday.

"Sva-ahaar"according to me one of those hidden weekend classics.

We all are so used to having those stereotype thali's at most of the places that people often forget that there are other thali options or even dont look beyond typical south indian idly-dosa ! This place is special in terms of Kerala meal. I agree this meal is not for everyone taste buds but its definitely worth a try.

As they say, every south indian language feels the same to your ear hence same should for food as well. But wait, that's never a case in FOOD !! Each southern state has its own flavor.I have passed this place number of times on weekday only to find it barely occupied most of the times. My destination usually is place adjacent to it - Aaoji Khaaoji. Me and my Dad often would make plans but yes this time it worked on a Sunday lunch hour.

Like I said, it was busy with many people relishing the food. Ambiance is very stylish. Modern and gets you look of cool hangout cafe. White and brown theme was going well.

We immediately ordered for that famous meal. 2 servers on a Sunday is something to think upon by the management. Reason, what I observed was food was being served as first come-first basis ! That made us wait for 25 mins for our meal to be served !! Hunger gets you impatient :D !! It was an unlimited thali lunch with all items that I assume must have been prepared. Still it took that long!

Nevertheless, a banana leaf was layed and all items started to arrive.

Avial -- Its a combination of Mix Veggies sabji. Good amount of coconut in it. Kuttu curry -- Flavorful mix of Chana, Yam and raw banana. Lovely made. When else would you have YAM !! Errissery -- Black eyed beans with Pumpkin. This was a chavli gravy with white sauce. Simple yet nice.Pachadi -- Curd preparation. Thoran -- Cabbage & carrot stir fry. Payasam -- Traditional south indian dessert. We call it Kheer !!Pappadam -- Traditional Keralian udad papad. Yummy !! Kerala Rice -- Very difficult to eat !! haven't had this kind of thick and fat rice EVER !! For me this was only a difficult and disappointing item on the whole spread. I have heard there is an option to substitute it with awesome Appam but will definitely ask the next time. Sambar -- Traditional ... OKOK.Rasam-- OKOK Puli - Inji -- Winner !! Its some stuff made out of tamarind and jaggery. It had a unique taste. Super !!Kondattam -- Curd dried chilly fried. This was really strong and something which I have had for the first time. Curd being infused in those chilly, frozen and then deep fried. It contained very distinct yet strong tangy taste of curd !! Cant have it just without any supportive staple !Banana chips -- Our very own yellow chips. Banana Jaggery chips were out of stock !! -- Sad but cant help !

We also ordered Appam combo to help us eat those veggies / curries with. Appam was perfect with slight sweetness. Perfectly roasted and soft texture. Loved it !

Everything for a INR 219 !! (Used Little App deal).

Apart from that fat rice, everything was perfect ! I personally enjoyed a lot.

I am coming again guys !! :D

Walking on JM road came across this cafe.
The very first thing we asked was do you accept card payments and yes was the answer.

My first first impression was they must be serving South Indian cuisine only however there is more to it.

The decor is really commendable. Simple and nice. Wooden sitting the lights and the music makes one feel in different space completely.

Infact so peaceful that didn't realise we were sitting near one of the busiest streets of the city. Inside was a total cut off from the noise of the traffic a perfect ambience.

The menu is short and simple. It's more of healthy food cooked fresh.

The first we ordered was Iceland vegetable soup. This came is big bowl. Greenish in colour the fragrance was nice. The taste was more like liquid "Pav Bhaji's" bhaji. Which Iam sure this was not what Iam thinking. it was all vegetables nicely mixed.

Next in turn was the brown rice biryani. This was nicely presented. The quantity was not much. It was served with curd raita. The rice was basic masala rice with very prominent flavour of Indian masala.

Lastly we asked for crispy tofu sandwich with ginger peanut sauce. I expected it to be crisp like a toast however it was not so. The sandwich was grilled but it wasn't crisp at all. The stuffing was a mixture of tofu cubes, corn and vegetables. The sauce was ok.

Overall food experience was not very different in taste than regular cafes.

What I liked most was the simple and quiet ambience a very perfect hangout for an evening with friends.

After a huge gap....penning down again!!Ā
If destined for some healthy stuff for your tummy; then this is the place. Must say some really great stuff they have come up with which is healthy yet tasty at the same time. Have been ordering from quite a long through a popular food delivery partner and have actually become a huge fan of this restro.Ā
Not a huge set - up though the ambiance reminds me of some typical geometrical shapes with Ā complimenting colors. Well laid out sitting arrangement which does not make the place a claustrophobic.Ā
Service and hospitality are both on the positive side which definitely gives them an edge over others serving in the that area.Ā
Coming on to the main ingredients of the restro ~ the food....broccoli stir fried with mushroom, sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles, herbed tomato and macaroni soup, roasted sweet potato salad with warm chutney dressing, spinach salad with garlic dressing, oats and moong dal dahi wada, beetroot tikki with palak gravy, apple & cinnamon smoothie, hummus club sandwich are some of the best dishes they make and mine favourites too.Ā
They sound very healthy, non tasty food stuff and even I had the same thought process when encountered them for the time....but to my surprise they taste heavenly.Ā
In this world which is dominated by junk and fast food around, a place like this is actually a boon where after eating will not feel guilty of adding some calories rather can feel proud of having something really great.Ā
Apart from these brownie points it does have some thing they have to improve over a lot ~ the keralian thali which is not upto to the mark considering the price it has been kept for. The spread out is very disappointing when compared to the same product being served else where. The price is on a higher side and the taste in not the authentic keralian taste. So, people going for this should avoid but a big thumps up for the range of the healthy stuffs they offer.Ā
To sum up it is a good place to visit ~ calm and cosy avoiding the busy street outside, healthy food with some smoothies and at very reasonable price. Can't ask for more!! Must visit for everybody to taste and feel the idea of being healthy.

What a find! We were walking along JM road on Visarjan day and saw an ad for Onam special meals. We were a group of 8 including 4 kids who were craving pasta etc. We made a mental note of this place and kept on walking to take part in visarjan festivities.

The walk and the festive occasion made us crave some serious food and we thought the Onam meals would fit the bill. So headed back few kms to Sva ahaar and it was totally worth it. Great ambience, friendly staff and most important delicious and healthy onam sadya! It was just perfect with generous helpings and frequent refills. The kids to our surprise totally smashed it. Nothing was left on the banana leaf, a sign that brings a smile on anyones face.

A very nice restaurant having an interesting menu and tasty food. I happened to visit this restaurant yesterday , its located on one of the most favorite locations of pune. A quite nice restaurant though small in place but had a very clean , nice, aromatic ambience

My ordered items were as follows :
Antioxidant shot- Nice unique flavour of beetroot and apple but i couldnt find taste of kiwi in it.

Thatta dosa -One word for it- Yummy

Power salad - Bit Sweet salad having herbs and vegetables, I loved it though

Brown rice with red thai curry : - It was really good, the curry was indeed very tasty.

Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles :- It was also but i would place it in my last preference amongst what all i had yesterday.

Overall I had a wonderful experience, staff being so attentive, polite and service was quite quick.

I guess this would be only place in Pune with Health conscious menu that has balanced the price and taste. Awesome place, spread of menu is limited, but it seems whatever they serve is tasty and healthy. Small place with soothing music. If you want to hang out at a peaceful place, this is it!!

We had soups, salads and sandwiches and they were awesome. Service pace was little slow (not too slow) but we wanted time to spend together, so we didn't mind it!

This restaurant turned out to be a very good find on my last day in Pune. Just randomly walked into the restaurant for lunch and ordered quite a few dishes. The menu focuses on more of a healthy diet and that was so good to see restaurants giving importance to such requirements.

Ordered a tofu bhurji which was totally devoid of any oil.It was rightly spiced and was a perfect starter to start with. It came with 2 nicely toasted brown breads which were really good.Ā

Ginger beet juice had a rich beetroot extract and doesnt contain any sugar, which needs to be appreciated. And finally i had a brown rice biryani which was beautifully presented, had the right quantity and once again had very little oil in it. It was very good, however a little bit on the spicier side.Ā

Prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and quick and an added advantage being free wi fi which is a must in every cafe today in my opinion.

Sva-ahaar ! Indeed !! A beautiful little restaurant serving healthy alternatives at a pocket friendly price .

This place only serves only veg food so protein is in shortage here . Basically a place to go to if you are watching your calories ..

Ordered a couple of times and these were a few standout dishes

Antioxidant shot : now anyone who hates "healthy" food .. Will definitely think twice before drinking this . Mainly because of the beetroot colour .. But if you drink it you will realise how tasty the drink is .. It's awesome !!

Pomegranate and lime Sabja : delightfully sweet Anar and lime combination ( tough the amount of sabja was a little less )

The best of the lot was

Roasted sweet potato salad : yes sweet potato salad is the best at this restaurant .. If you like subtle flavours the caramelised tomatoes and capsicum offset the sweetness and it's filling ..

Misses :

Pomegranate and walnut salad : it was a weird combination of little lettuce and loads of pomegranate and cashew nuts ( not walnuts ) management needs to rethink this dish

Overall good option for a light on your stomach and on your pocket place

This place is great, though difficult to find.

LOCATION:
It is opposite to the Petrol Pump near Mc Donalds, Deccan. The restaurant is just behind Mufti, shares the same building with Mufti.

FOOD:
I always order their thali (sadya). Being a vegan, I skip their curd salad and milk payassam. However, the rest of the food on the thali/plate is awesome. It's is fresh, yummy, has different textures, and looks healthy and natural. Their pomegranate drink was great the first time I ordered it, but second time it was all cloudy and settling down at the bottom of the glass. My friend ordered their mini appam combo that was lovely too and those appams were light, fluffy, and tasty.

PRICE:
The thali and combos are affordable but the drinks, in my opinion, are expensive.

AMBIANCE:
It's a small place and the decor was pretty like a bistro.

SERVICE:
The service the first time we went was slow for thalis, but second time around the service was fast.

I like the place and will visit again to enjoy their thali.

A few things are great, and a few not so much.Ā

Across the board, the quality of ingredients and variety in vegetables used is excellent. Also, left the restaurant satiated but not overly full.Ā
Ā
Excellent were: The kerala dishes and the wraps. As a quick note, would've liked the kerala food to be served in thali's instead the food court-style plastic trays. The well-documented Pommegranate cooler is great too.Ā

The okay'ish food: the sandwiches and stir-fry's. I expected better based off what they're trying to be, but white breads instead of a multi-grain bread was a let-down. The stir-fry was very homey, nothing special here.

The not-so-great: the thai curry was a total let down, severely lacking in flavor, and thickness. Was just spicy without the lemongrass, basil or kaffir flavors.
The cucumber blast needs a bit more pear to make the cucumber shine.

I liked their seating format, though would work better if it was 1-level up so you can watch the busy JM road pass you by.

My discovery of Sva-ahaar happened pretty much by chance. I was running a few errands on JM Road when the 7pm hunger pangs struck, and my companion and I thought of grabbing a quick evening snack at our Maharashtrian snack favourite joint, Mathura. However, we found a long queue at Mathura; but ended up spotting Sva-ahaar in the neighbouring building while awaiting our turn. The place seems quite inviting and we were intrigued by their promise of serving healthy, low-cal, nutrient dense snacks and kerala sadya; and so we landed up here.

Sva-ahaar is almost like a bistro in terms of set-up; with 5-6 properly spaced tables, neat dĆ©cor and some cheerful music. The menu is what had me completely excited at first look; they serve all vegetarian fare, but not run-off-the-mill kinds. The selection of soups, quick-bites, salads, desserts and kerala meals; all have unique combinations of ingredients and promise a very nutritious meal. I encouraged by a very good experience at my first visit, Iā€™ve been here thrice already and this is my take on the food here.

Sprouts salad: made of four types of sprouts, onions, cucumber and tomatoes; this was one fresh and crunchy salad. The dressing was a basic lime juice and salt one, felt very homely and was very refreshing and light on the stomach on a hot summer evening.

Sprouted moong dahi wada: This dahi-wada made of fresh, spouted moong and oats, was not deep-fried, but to my delight, prepared in an appe pan. High-on fibre from the sprouted moong and oats, and low on oil, I think this is wonderful option for those looking for a healthy snack. The dahi was just perfect; chilled, not sour and not overly sweet.

Pomegranate, lime and sabja cooler: Loved the combination of ingredients, everything pairs up really well. Loaded with minerals and vitamins, a chilled tall glass of this drink definitely soothes your system and gets the appetite going.

Appam mini combo: consists of a dry chana preparation, moong curry, stew, coconut chutney and two appams. The coconut chutney, vegetable stew and dry chana were are delicious, and everything that I expected from authentic kerala style preparations. But the moong curry (coconut gravy based) was a tad bland and needed more seasoning; and the appams were a little too dense and not very light and fluffy.

Tattu Dosa: These were like the usual thick, set dosas and were quite decent; loved the onion and red chilly chutney with it, but other accompaniments failed to impress us.

Kerala meals: They serve two versions of kerala thalis; an unlimited thali served on banana leaves (the sadya) and a limited thali at a lower price (served in regular steel plates). The menu for both versions is effectively the same, the difference being only in the quantities served. This is what was on the menu the day we tried:

Cabbage and carrot thoran: Lightly sautƩed cabbage and carrot, with a nutty flavor from the coconut oil.

Mix vegetable sambar: an excellent version of sambar, with abundant amount of vegetables, and a great balance of flavors; not too tangy or sweet and not too spicy or oily either.

Rasam: after a great sambar, the rasam was very disappointing for it had too much tamarind and was quite heavy on spice too.

Moong curry: it is the same curry that comes as a part of the appam combo; but this was another day and it tasted much better this time around. I guess they need to look at some consistency issues here.

Black chana and raw banana kuttu: both the chana and raw banana were cooked to perfection, and the coconut based gravy had some very subtle but brilliant flavors.

Avial: a traditional Malyali vegetable stew, with a coconut and yogurt base; this was one of the best avails I had had in recent times. I might even dare to say that it was closest to my friendā€™s momā€™s version which is the best Iā€™ve ever had.

Rice: is the traditional Kerala boiled red rice, well-cooked with each grain separate from the other, and a perfect accompaniment to complement the traditional meal.

Chapatis: Not really a part of traditional Kerala meals, but their chapatis were thin and soft enough.

Payasam: The rice payasam again was top-notch; the consistency, taste and texture all being great.

Miscellanous accompaniments: were the little bananas that are very popular in kerala, the light and crisp appalams, a piece of stuffed dried and fried red chilli and sweet and savory banana chips. I especially loved the sweet banana chips that were coated with a thick layer jaggery and had crunchy banana wafers on the inside.

The entire meal was such that it satiates your stomach, but you never really feel bloated or like you have over-eaten and need to reach that antacid. I think this is an excellent option for those looking for a sattvik meal.

Service is attentive and very polite, but tad slow some times. This may not be a place if you are in a hurry.

Prices are very reasonable, and absolutely worth every penny for the quality of food.

Very few, read very very few vegetarian restaurants ever excite me. This one did. And what's more, it did it in a very healthy way. Fresh produce and freshly cooked dishes with just the right mix of taste and fun is what I found the menu to be. Difficult to encapsulate in one particular genre of cuisine the menu is still sufficiently satisfying. We had the delicious stir fried mushrooms and broccoli, the soya, a sandwich, a papaya and melon salad and two juices. All of these were remarkable in taste, quantity and vfm. A must go if you believe in healthy food.

I loved this place.Ā

Its situated on the JM road, opposite Sai service (a little ahead of Mc'D), a bit hidden on the road.Ā

Almost all the things we ordered was very good except Broccoli & Celery Soup. We didnt like it at all. Though it was healthy I guess. The best we liked here was Broccoli Mushroom stir fry which was really made well and the quantity was good enough for 2 people as a starter dish.

Another thing I really loved was Guntur Idli, which was 2 idli's mixed with sambhar and chutney's , My wife said it was nothing different, but I personally loved the aroma and the taste (I am sambhar lover and can identify the different taste altogether), however the price for that was too much compared to the quantity

We also had tofu bhurji at the end which was again good. On the juices side I had ordered Papaya Orange Smootie, and it was good, but it was just papaya and there was no trace of orange at all . I didnt mention it to them that day because the taste was great and I was ok with it, but still I think the person who made it didnt pay much attention to it.

Ambiance was good and refreshing. The seatings space was good, though only a few tables were there. The only big minus was the service part, because it took too much time for our order to arrive even when it was a weekday (I think it does not matter) and just one more table was filled apart from ours. Anyways we were not in rush, so it was ok for us.

But if you are in a hurry, I think you should mention to them properly that you are in rush, else you will feel frustrated later.

Parking can be done on the main road itself, which might be a problem if you go in peak times.Ā

All in all, I think its a very good place to try once, especially if you are veg and would like to have healthy food. Recommended.

I am going to try Sadya next time (the veg meal on banana leaves) which they have started providing on all days now.

It was my first time here and couple of days back. I had the brown rice with red Thai curry. The food was delicious and very well-cooked. The Thai curry had just the right mixture of spices. My friend had the appam; that was good too. The ambience is great and the staff friendly. The filter coffee could've been better. I think they over heated it. It didn't seem fresh. Will definitely visit the place again.

I was very excited to see the Kerala Food Festival in Sva-ahaar. It had been a while since i had a taste of home!Ā
Overall the experience was good. Quality of the food was very good and hit all the right notes for a malayali meal. The winner for me was the sambar and avial! It was fantastic. These two dishes alone will bring me back for round 2!!
The major let down for the experience was the service. Certain items were missing from the thali and only after i requested did the waiter notice (missing papadams, rasam didn't arrive until i finished the meal, slow refill of rice and curries).Ā
We were a table of 3 and placed a small order and even then the food did not arrive on time. The restaurant was also very quiet (only 2 other tables were occupied). This made me a little worried on how they would handle a packed restaurant...

I will definitely be back :)

There are not many healthy options when you are planning to eat out. So when you hear about a new place serving different menu with healthy options, it is like discovering a hidden treasure! Talking about hidden treasure, this smallish place called Sva-Ahaar is hidden behind Mufti showroom opposite Sai Petrol Pump on Jungli Maharaj Road (Popularly known as JM Road). They started sometime in September 2015 and slowly gaining popularity among health-conscious foodies in Pune.Ā

We had quick trial of this place couple of weeks ago and tried Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles and Apple cinnamon soy smoothie at that time and we had loved it. So we had decided to visit it again to try wider range of their offerings with larger group.Ā

So eight of us visited it yesterday including 2 kids! We tried several dishes including their weekend special: Sadya. This is our impression about the restaurant.Ā

Food experience:Ā

Of course food is the most important factor of any restaurant. I can tolerate poor ambiance, slow service as long as the food itself is good! Though the menu is not exhaustive, it offers quite some variety and almost all those dishes are unique.Ā

BTW, note that Sva-Ahaar serves only vegetarian food!

We tried Iceland vegetable soup, Onion & thyme soup, Stirfry broccoli with coconut, Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles, Mix vegetables sandwich, Crispy tofu sandwich with ginger peanut sauce, Sadya (Kerala Thali), Brown rice with red Thai curry, Sambar rice. And then we finished our delicious meal with Apple cinnamon soy smoothie, Papaya orange smoothie and Pomegranate line sabja juice. As you can see, we have tried quite a few dishes and had a chance to taste large variety of their spread.Ā

Almost all those dishes were wonderful with an exception of Red Thai Curry, it was thin and somewhat bland - it didn't taste as good as the one you get in specialty Thai restaurants. The coconut milk was thin, and those flavours were missing. Nevertheless, it was freshly cooked and all the veggies were fresh and nice. The sandwiches were great - the ginger peanut sauce was absolutely mouth-watering. Both the stir-fry dishes, Stirfry broccoli with coconut and Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles were great. They were not oily at all, in fact one could hardly taste any oil in the broccoli dish with coconut. It had nice mild flavour that we relished with salt-n-pepper. Taste wise, Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles was much better though. However, it was not as great as we had tried for the first time 2 weeks ago and quantity was lesser as well. Sadya was nice as well, lots of small accompaniments with Sambar rice and really awesome rassam! Their rassam not overly spicy, but retains that special flavour. We simply loved it!Ā

As for the drinks, Apple cinnamon soy smoothie, Papaya orange smoothie were divine. Somehow, Pomegranate lime sabja juice was not as great as we had anticipated and it tasted slightly bitter. It didn't have soaked sabja seeds that we expected and when we asked about sabja, we were informed that they were cold-pressed with the juice itself. Again, quantity was little less as compared to what we got 2 weeks ago. Probably, they ran out of ingredients by the time we finished - in fact we had ordered 4 Pomegranate lime sabja juice, but they told us that they could give only 3. The quantity was still quite less.Ā

However, barring the exception of Red Thai Curry, I would say everything else tasted very good! The food here is highly recommended - no two ways about it.Ā

Service:Ā

We had heard some stories about the delay here and were worried about it. However, we did not face inordinate delay for any of these dishes except one (more about it later). Soups were served in 8-10 mins and Sadya was readily available as well. By the time we finished our soup, rest of the dishes started arriving and we were happy with that. Given that all the food is freshly prepared as per order (no ready-made red, brown, white gravies here), the time they take is acceptable. However, there was one problem: we ordered 4 Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles, and three of them were delivered promptly but remaining one took almost 50-55 mins after we ordered. In fact, rest of us had finished our meal when it finally arrived. When I discussed this with the owner Rajan, he informed me that the noodles were over and they had to cook them again. I just think he should have informed us so that we could have ordered something else. Anyway!

The service was very polite and courteous. They helped us with menu selection and were nice enough to serve us separate Sambar-Rice which was not part of menu. They also ensured that kids dishes arrived quickly and they didn't have reason to grumble.Ā

Since it is a new restaurant, I guess they are still getting organized and I hope they would reduce delay as much as possible. That would ensure that customers do not get disappointed despite their awesome food!

Ambiance:

Sva-Ahaar is a smallish restaurant which could barely accommodate 12-15 people. However, the decor is quite pleasant and classy. Despite being close to noisy J M road, it offers calm and quiet ambiance with wholesome, tasty food. I hope they can keep quality and quantity of food consistent and I am sure that they would attract lot more happy patrons for their delicious and unique food!

Suggestions:

Delay: As mentioned earlier, one dish almost took an hour after we ordered it. This won't be acceptable for most customers. It's a new restaurant offering rather different dishes, so it might take them some time to figure out what is most popular and keep its ingredients ready to serve it faster. Moreover, when they run out of something, it is best to inform customer about the possible long delay and check if he/she would like to change the order instead.Ā

Consistent quality and quantity: When we had tried two dishes about 2 weeks earlier, Sweet chili tofu with pineapple stir fried noodles had more soy sauce and tasted different. It was probably given enough time to get those pineapple pieces caramelized enough to give them that divine test and aroma. This time, pineapple pieces were little under-cooked and quantity was much lesser as well. Even quantity of Apple cinnamon soy smoothie was much lesser than what we had last time. I hope they keep the taste and quantity consistent.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Where else do you find such eclectic, delicious & healthy food offerings that allow you to indulge without much guilt?Ā

Sva-Ahaar is definitely a must-try restaurant if you love vegetarian food! :-)

This 4 week old restaurant right next to mathura was appealing enough for us to cancel our table at mathura. The menu is appealing specially for the health conscious people. The food is gets ur taste buds tingling. The ambience is fresh and colorful with magazines to read and free wi fi.despite being a Thursday the restaurant was packed but very poor service. After a while we were told that 3 of their staff didn't turn up for work. Hence they couldn't cater to so many people. But none the less I would go back to taste the dishes which were missed and specially the weekend South Indian thali.

Situated at JM road adjacent to Mathura, Sva-ahaar focus on healthy food. There is a very interesting quote at the entrance which says you will produce what you eat. Sorry for the bad description but you have to read it before going inside.
The place is small and has a cosy atmosphere. And surprise surprise they offer you free wifi. Although Sva-ahaar offers healthy menu I was there for the the special Onam thali being served in traditional banana leaf.
The waiters were ready and as we sat, within few seconds the leaves were laid out, the pickles and rice served. Amazing.
The special thali looked colorful with 20 different dishes. The mango and lemon pickle were good with the rice and sambar. I liked Pulli Inji: the concoction of ginger and tamarind. Then there was pachadi and pineapple pachadi which I had for the first time. Another new for me was kutty curry with chawali and pumpkin, I must say very delightful. Banana chips were nice but the jaggery coated banana chips were what I can have any time.
I had avial before and it was decent. I would like to mention the desserts: Paal payasam and Perep Pradaman. Paal was kind of milk pudding, balanced and rightly sweetened. I can have two to three cups any day. Perep was two sweet for me but when I asked the owner he said it is meant to be like this. The jaggery they used with moong dal was sweet but too sweet.
The list is endless and the whole experience of having Keral food here in Pune was amazing. The food was light and the people are really friendly. The ambience is not much to talk about but the I am looking forward to come for the regular menu. I Wish them luck for their endeavor to serve us some real health food.

This is one of the oldest place on Deccan. I remember going here when i was a child especially during diwali shopping and ganpati days. It was a nostalgic moment for me to visit this place. Nothing has changed here the interior, ambiance the staff, most importantly the taste. My all time favourite was kothimbir wadi here. Its crispy, sufficient in size and all time available. Tried mirchi bhaji this time and it was equally amazing. Not too spicy but tempting for sure. If you wanna try authentic maharashtrian food you must visit. I didn't like one this only and for that reason i am cutting one star was rude behaviour of the staff, being a Punekar it is part of our habit now but still they can talk a bit politely with customers and each other as well. I saw the manager talking very rudely to one of the staff and verbally abusing him in front of others and children as well. This thing bothered me particularly.
