While travelling to Ganapati Pule
I searched for restaurants on the way
This restaurant is shown with high ratings.
Went there; expectations came true.
Brought chicken thali; it includes fray chiken, Thick malvani gravy, khima and kalij with Rice Bhakari/Chapati, rice and with delicious kokam sarabat and solkadhi....
Thali was just awesome; it's tough to finish single thali
Solkadhi was just awesome that we brought separate glasses.
One Chicken Thali cost was 379/- rupees
And I think it's worth
Awesome food. The 3-in-1 thalis are just amazing! Don’t miss it. But be warned that it’s huge - can be shared between 2 to 3 eaters. Brilliant bombil fry as well. Staff is friendly in spite of a lot of crowd. They are open all throughout the day. So if you’re ever at Ratnagiri and hungry head to amantran. You won’t regret it
The hotel is well known for enjoying Kokan cuisine. You won't find any dish not available from the cuisine. Visit anytime and ask anything according to the cuisine the quality remains the same no matter what time. The dishes won't leave your mouth watered🤤😋. The premises and the food are appreciable. I visited the hotel a long time back like 3 to 4 years back and was startled that they have made progress in their dishes with the way of presentation. The taste of the dishes persist the way it was and is just AMAZING. I appreciate the efforts of the chef and the staff for upholding the hotel for its knowing to its highest
We had a variety of seafood dishes. Everything was very tasty and freshly prepared. Service was fast and the place was busy. Loved everything would definately revisit
Hotel Amantran in Ratnagiri is a hidden gem for seafood enthusiasts, and my recent dining experience there left me thoroughly impressed. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Maharaja Surmai Thali, a seafood feast fit for royalty.
The Maharaja Surmai Thali is a culinary masterpiece that showcases the coastal flavors of Ratnagiri. It included succulent surmai fish cooked to perfection in various styles - fried, curry, and tawa, each bursting with distinct flavors and spices. The freshness of the seafood was evident, and the skillful preparation ensured that every bite was a delight.
Apart from the Surmai Thali, I also sampled the Chicken Thali, which was equally delightful. The chicken dishes were tender and flavorful, and the accompanying sides, including fragrant rice and assorted chutneys, complemented the main dishes perfectly.
For an appetizer, I couldn't resist trying the Chicken Lollypop. These crispy, flavorful chicken drumettes were a great start to the meal and set the tone for the seafood extravaganza that followed.
To balance the richness of the dishes, I sipped on Solkadhi, a traditional Konkani beverage made from coconut milk and kokum. It was a refreshing palate cleanser and added a lovely contrast to the spicy and savory dishes.
Beyond the outstanding cuisine, the interior of Hotel Amantran deserves praise. The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting ambiance, with rustic coastal decor and attentive service that enhances the overall dining experience.
In summary, my visit to Hotel Amantran in Ratnagiri was a seafood lover's dream come true. The Maharaja Surmai Thali, Chicken Thali, Chicken Lollypop, and Solkadhi were all exceptional in taste and quality. Coupled with the cozy and inviting interior, this dining experience is one I won't forget. If you're in Ratnagiri and have a hankering for seafood, Hotel Amantran should be at the top of your list.
Good place to njoi a good Konkan Non Veg Food, Especially Fish & Chicken Thali. You can try variety of Fish dishes including Surmai, Pomflet, Prawns, Bombil, Bangda etc.
Do try their appetizers as well.
Very delicious food . If you don’t like rava in your fish tell them early . The service is excellent and responsive
Best seafood in ratnagiri try egg curry Thai and Jumbo king fish thali
Lovely food, good variety..value for money ...तिसऱ्या मासला , crab lolypop are very good ....even veg Kaju thali is very good.
Staff is good , they serve with a smile and suggest various options ...
Sagar gave very good service and the food is one of the best I've ever had! The Surmai and the Chicken Kaju Wada Thali was delicious. Very much recommended.
Overall, a nice restaurant if you're a seafood lover. I would recommend Surmai thali over pomfret thali! If you're lucky then they also have delicious modak! Although, most of the times when I visited the modak was unavailable. Try your luck 😉
Food is amazing. Service is slow. Had to ask waiter 3 times to switch on the fan as someone kept switching it off for no reason. Food delivery takes time as it is served fresh.
I tried Chicken wade thali, it was full of flavour with mouth watering deliciousness🤤, I am surely recommending to try it once.
The Solkadi was on another level.
Hotel Amantran is situated in the heart of Ratnagiri city and can be easily reached following the google maps.
As I always write a detail review and the Pros and Cons about the restaurant will try to cover most of the things in this review.
Pros:-
The hotel service is pretty decent and helpful and the sitting arrangement is good as well.
The owner of the hotel is very down to earth person and welcomes every guest personally and looks after the services too.
Talking about the food we tried Surmai Thali, and Prawns Fry and one solo Pomfret for my little kid.
The instructions given to cook the pomfret was followed and was very well cooked and my kid ate it will full joy.
Me being from Kokan (Malvan/Devgad) have a pure taste of kokani food starting from my homemade seafood cooked by my mom.
The taste of all the items in the plate was good starting from Surmai, the bangda curry and the surmai pickle.
Sole Kadi was tasty and very fresh.
The Ratnagiri style is a bit different and I felt a less coconut is used but the taste is good for a fresher who loves to try different types of kokani dishes.
The service delivery was quick and all the staff was very attentive.
Overall, I would recommend to visit the restaurant if you are in Ratnagiri, I drove from Ganpatipule to the Hotel just to try their food.
Cons:-
The prime drawback of the hotel is the Parking, so if you plan to visit with 2-3 cars with family it will be a difficult task during the peak hours, however the hotel staff is very helpful to give a parking space but again it all depends on the space availability.
I would like to suggest an orange gravy which is the trade mark dish and Kokan’s speciality to be included in Fish Thali.
Prawns fry was more of the covering and less prawns and ideally serving prawns fry with its headshell is not my choice as the cover might upset your stomach, though it’s a marketing gimmick so that the prawns look bigger. (Pics are shared)
Talking about the cost of the thali is on the higher side, to explain the cost fish is kind of staple food in kokan and the hotel being next to the sea coast fish should be pretty cheap if the are purchased during the fish auction. (Lilav)
The cost of a single pomfret was more the Fish Thali which I felt a bit odd, but Pomfret is always served as per catch and availability.
Instead of serving the kokan juice with the thali it can be served as welcome drink and a small portion of Tisrya can be added in the Fish Thali so that people will get to taste multiple varieties in the same fish thali.
Last but not the least, the hotel must definitely work on the washrooms side, as people who travel will first look for rest rooms specially for ladies. I'll
All in all, it was a good experience and I will definitely visit again to try some more special dishes if I visit Ratnagiri anytime.
Really good seafood and very good service from satta sir and good hospitality and very nice thali...
