150 years old mansion found in alleway of Saligao village. a lyric poem of tradition is beautifully described here. As you enter u will find a balcony with old flooring, cane furnitures and high ceilings. I found seating area as small picturesque cave with beautifully decorated with white hanging lights. Coming to the menu, they offer Hyderabadi and Goan cuisine..being a vegetarian didn't find much options, tried dahi kebab and veg biryani. It was really good.. give a try to this place whenever in Goa💃

It takes a while to get to this due to it's remote location, but it's definitely worth your time and energy. Had the Mutton biryani (one of their specialities). The quantity was good enough for two people. Packed with flavors, the Mutton was tenderly cooked, the rice has a wonderful aroma and the side dishes perfectly complimented the biryani. The price is a little on the higher side, but the biryani was definitely worth it. I would love to go again and try out some other varieties as well.

Saligao stories is a hidden gem in Goa. It is quite difficult to locate since it is quite far from the main road. We went there since it was recommended by close friends. It’s a huge huge bungalow which is very well maintained. The interiors are very impressive. It also offers a wide array of items on sale, paintings, kurtis, home décor to name a few. It has a gorgeous bicycle outside which was holding various pots of flowers.

The food also is great, served in beautiful plates. The taste and appearance were great.

Tried hyderabadi platter which consisted of mutton biryani, raita, mirchi ka Salan, nalli curry, dum murgh, mutton chutney and papad. Taste was awesome, biryani had a different taste than other regular biryanis in good way. Mutton chutney was superb, as well nalli and dum murgh. This platter can be shared by two people. Ambience is quite beautiful with lot of paintings on the wall and antiques around. They have goan cuisine also which we may try later. Good selection of dishes on menu. Tried firni too but I expected it to be little coarse like Kheer but it's more like rice paste which was okay. Would definitely like to try other dishes some other time. I strongly recommend this place to those who would love to have some authentic hyderabadi cuisine.

Love, love, love this place..... Can't begin describing how much i loved it!! This place made it a point to impress me right since the moment i hadn't even entered inside. The ambience of the place is AMAZING!! And the one thing that most women want to check is whether the washrooms are clean and they are!!!!
Secondly, Sid here is an amazing host and will take enough care that you don't leave unless you have amazing food inside your tummy. He'll recommend food for everybody and will make you very comfortable.
We ordered the vegetarian and non- vegetarian Hyderabadi story, Goan fish curry and rice with a tawa fried kingfish. All the items were mind blowing!!!! A must visit indeed!!!

Saligao stories is a hidden gem in Goa,located in Salegao, its very difficult to locate though google maps saved us,it’s a huge bungalow with lavish rooms, the huge chandeliers, the paintings which were damn creative sold around at 40-60k,the other section had kurti’s and stylised house hold materials which were up for a sale, again a master bedroom which had a vintage look had a loads of magazines and bedsheets up for the sale, the bathroom was something we couldn’t take our eyes off,it had a bicycle and vintage lamps  with beautiful flooring and décor, the bungalow had walls where they had put up old frames of the family and the newspaper cutouts which looked beautiful.

You need to definitely visit here to experience the retail restaurant  plus the famous hyderabadi thali you get here, they have a family connections and memories since childhood from hyderabad and that’s the reason they have curated and mastered this spl hyderabadi thali in Goa.

We started off with some wine  and the spl hyderabadi thali which had both veg and non veg versions,it included

Biryani-basic and natural taste which went along great with their inhouse mutton chutney and mirch ka saalan, I would say this mirch ka saaalan is the best thing I’ve had in my life.Plus you also get khubuli, dahi ki kadi and raita, bagarey baingan which was fabulous, you could literally feel the aroma of hyderabadi food, plus you  could also find papad and dahi ki mirch.Overall you will love all these with your spl thaal and biryani with an authentic taste.

I woud highly recommend this place if you are visiting Goa or around  Salegao, this would not just be a food hunt but an experience.Chef Siddharth did  a fabulous job and took good care of us,I am def gonna come here back to have haleem which I missed out this time.

Let me start with the food. We ordered the biriyani which came with 3/4 sides and a pickle (which was gorgeous) Overall interesting and unlike any biriyani I’ve tried before in Goa. It was mild but aptly spiced at the same time with none of the flavours over powering each other.

The ambiance was amazing, set in this old Portuguese house, the interiors as well as exteriors are really well done, likewise the bathrooms.

The opportunities

When we had arrived we thought the place was closed as there were 4/5 people sat in the entrance laughing at their mobiles which really confused us. I had asked thrice till I got a response telling me the restaurant was open and the guys just walked away, I would say even on a quiet day be professional at all times as first impressions tend to last.

The second thing was the leakages throughout the property. So much in the balcony (entrance to the restaurant) that I slipped. If the leakages aren’t instantly repairable then having someone overlooking it or pushing the water out / mopping would be appreciated

Final verdicts- Good quality food wherein a lot of effort has been put in from the chefs side to ensure an authentic experience. Great ambience (minus the leaks) the Menus need reprinting as they have become soggy in the monsoons.

Shame that it was so empty at lunch time and we were the only guests dining there.

Marketing needs to be upped @foodofgoa

This place is a Portuguese house converted to a restaurant with a classic look. A lot of hardwork is gone in creating a perfect ambience to enjoy a good getogether with your family and friends. The backyard of this place is the perfact place to relax and enjoy the night under the moon.

Follow the gmaps for this one as you will have to take a narrow road in Saligao (Don't worry there is ample of parking space).

This restaurant is known for its hydrabadi cuisine (has also won an award for the best hydrabadi restaurant in Goa).

Must try :
1)Cranberry mint cooler is very refreshing and will surely quench your thirst during the summers. It is a perfect blend of cranberries and mint.
Price : 200+
2) I have had one of the best Shahi raan here. Its worth every penny.
As you can see on the plate they serve you with Paratha, eggs, leg of lamp cut into portions and salad. Potatoes on top of the lamb portion are also crispy and soft. Each bite of this dish is orgasmic.
Price : 650+
3) Kache ghosht ki biryani is a hydrabadi special.
Price : 450+
4)Also "The Hydrabadi Story" is recommended which is a platter filled with kache ghosht ki biryani, dahi ki kadi, mirchi ka Salam, hydrabadi papad, dahi ki mirchi, mutton chutney and raita.

It is only after you taste the food you come to know why the prices are high.

Visited this gorgeous place on Valentine's day with my parents. The maps guided us well and we were elated to find ample parking space by the restaurant.
Saligao stories is an old Portuguese house beautifully decorated and well maintained. We walked around and admired the place aesthetically before we sat down to eat.
My father being a vegetarian had very lil choice. For starters we had fried potato skins which we absolutely loved. For the main mum and I had chicken biryani which came with Mirchi ka salan and raita and a friend Mirchi. My dad took the veg Biryani which was some daal biryani which came with stuffed baingan, raita and friums.
As it was Valentine's day they gave us a complimentary dessert of strawberries with fresh cream. :)
All of this was served beautifully in silver thanks making it a pleasant experience.
We liked the taste of all that we ate, the place is a lil pricey and we were surprised to find that we we're the only ones dining at the restaurant that evening.
All in all it was a royal experience with Hyderabadi food and beautiful interiors.

Saligao Stories is one unique properties in Goa. This place is a 150 year old Portuguese apartment which is converted to a restaurant and a fashion boutique.

The place very much looks like a modern European restaurant. The walls decorated with frames, cutlery and fancy showcase items. Chandeliers makes this place look amazing.

The seating arrangement is very much casual and relaxing. The other side of the restaurant is a fashion boutique.

The restaurant serves authentic Hyderabadi and Goan Cuisine.

I was personally delighted by the warm hospitality of the head chef Kaustubh. He was at his best offering his services at the Kitchen and looking after the guests too. He really had a busy day.

Pleased to meet the owner of the restaurant during my visit. She personally looks after the kitchen and manages the fashion boutique as well.

We tried their Hyderabadi cuisine which was served to us as a platter.
This platter had shami kebabs, Biryani, Pulav, Mirchi Ka Salan, Dum Ka Murgh, Nali Ghosh, Haleem and Raita with Reshmi Paratha at the side.
The food was less spicy and less oily.
It was authentic in taste.
Desserts we tried the Kubani Ka meetha and phirni.
We loved visiting the place. Would look forward to visit again.

So Goa was basically ruled by Portuguese and even in current times it gives us a Portugal feeling at some places with ancient beautiful Goan houses in Portuguese style. Goa not only is known for its beaches but also for its beautiful Goan houses.
One such illustration of beautiful Portuguese styled decor is the Saligao Stories. This is a house of almost 200 years old which is now maintained as a hotel giving you a admirable feel of the old times Goan houses.
The owner Anisha is very affectionate with her customers and the best part is that she does all the cooking by herself. So when you visit here, you will not see the owner at the beginning of your meals, but at the end when she will come to ask whether you have enjoyed your meals here. Such an amiable hospitality you will get here. This is the best part as the food here is delectable and all cooked by her. It’s surprising as well as admirable.

Coming to the restaurant, the entrance is very cutely decorated with colourful flowers and a bicycle. You will see wall painting frames decorated and photo frames of people who originally lived there. It belonged to Anisha(owner) great grandfather. There is a grand piano too. The house is quite big. It’s main hall has all the chairs and tables which is very spacious. Towards the inside, there is a separate room where a wall is decorated with printed blocks which is used in cloth printing which the owner used to do printing in saree and other cloth material before this restaurant was made. There is a private room, a huge Portuguese style bed and a very captivating olden times styled mirror.
There is a separate outdoor section which is again beautiful with attractive chairs and tables.

➡️Coming to the food and drinks, the cuisine is mostly of Hyderabadi and Goan and some continental as well.

🍸Smoke on water:
This whiskey based cocktail consisted of jack daniels as base along with pineapple, orange bitters, and egg white.
We liked this a lot.

🍸Fresh mandarin and mint cooler:
With absolut mandarin as base, fresh mandarin and demerara sugar and mint blended well. This was my favourite.

🍸Tranquility:
This cocktail consisted of cacacha, peach schnapps and cranberry.

🍸Hot Toddy:
If you have a bad throat, then this cocktail is a saviour! It consisted of cognac, cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, cloves and raw honey.
Cocktails are always served cold with ice cubes but this is the only cocktail which is served warm and is best for throat specially if you have issues with cough and cold or a bad throat day!

🔷Shami kebabs:
Fine mutton kebabs best in taste in Hyderabadi style.

🔷Mutton chutney:
This is like the best of all.
The story behind making it is also as fascinating as the chutney. Never heard and tasted of mutton chutney until I visited this place and tasted. It’s like my personal favourite now and highly recommended when you visit this place.

🔷Reshmi paratha:
It’s mouthwatering and amazing in taste.
Reshmi paratha with haleem is an amazing combo and superb in taste

🔷Hyderabadi story:
This comes in both veg and non-veg.
So it’s a full meal plate which consists of gravy varieties like khubuli, Dahi ki kadi, mirchi ka salan, Raita, Hyderabadi papas and Dahi ki mirchi along with veg Hyderabadi biryani cooked with dal.
It’s appetising in taste and flavourful in mouth. Highly recommended.

In the non veg, kache gosht ki biryani is served with gravies dum ka murgh, nalli gosh, mirchi ka salan, raita, Hyderabadi papas and Dahi ki mirchi.
The biryani was flavourful and typically Hyderabadi style.

▪️In desserts, we had serradurra, a Portuguese dessert, double ka meetha, khubani ka meetha and phirni . All were so good!

Overall, we not only enjoyed the food but also the overall experience here. Truly the name stands “Saligao Stories” on its words. The warm feel of this place is something different and if you want to experience real ancient Goa feel then surely must visit this place.

When one arrives in Goa, the first thing which is the most noticeable are the Goan Houses. We come to the prestine beach much later. These houses lined along the highway are a pleasure to just look at. Brightly painted exteriors with contrasting coloured windows, a garden with both flowering and non flowering plants, a narrow pebbled path leading to the main door, a small sit out with rather dim light to entertain or just relax in the evenings. Such are the houses and such is life in Goa.

This is a nice and quiet place within a lane in Bardez, Goa. Great food and ambience and the place has a nostalgic feeling. Great hosts and amazingly tasty food. Good suggestions by the host to cover our group so that we don't order extra. Must try the biryani there (totally non spicy and full of aromas), and a great place for lamb lovers. Must try when visiting Goa, especially for the Hyderabadi food.

Note: Our car tyres were punctured by localites and the hosts helped them get repaired late at night.

Went with family for my parents anniversary. Great vibe and ambience in a restored Portuguese villa. The food was fantastic, the Raan and the Kebabs were super tender and absolutely divine. The biryani, haleem and the kadi were outstanding as well. We didn’t sit by the bar, but it seemed like a fun place to hang out. The service was great - Anisha helped us with ordering the right dishes and the wait staff was great and accommodating. Definitely worth multiple visits when in Goa. Fine dining experience in an ages old portuguese style house in the quaint village of Saligao. Great food, service is a bit slow but the quality of food is top notch and each dish has its own story behind, there's a lot of mughali and hyderabad influence in most of the Indian dishes. I tried the hyderabadi platter, a beef steak, a bit of seafood, some great cocktails and in-house fresh tender coconut ice cream. Great food and an excellent and even better ambience, very vintage, retro and rustic. The rates are a bit high so come prepared but the food is certainly worth it

The details with which the food was prepared and served is beyond words. I felt I was sitting at a friend's palatial home enjoying my drink and getting pampered by Sid and my hostess's staff. The icing on the cake was a nice interaction with the lovely hostess herself, who explained the nitty gritty details of the place and the concept. A mouth watering Hyderabadi platter was what was devoured for dinner. One can't stop eating what I daresay is the best biryani I have ever eaten at any restaurant. If you are in This north Goa, please visit this place before you leave Goa. This place is as serene as you can expect from a authentic Portuguese mansion. Soothing sweet low volume music with proper decorum of table etiquettes on display inside a real old Goan atmosphere. We ordered steam rice with prawn curry and chicken sukka and trust me it was the best Goan curry and chicken sukka ever for me and my wife till now. A perfect blend of coconut with tanginess of fry mango teasing the taste buds with regrets of not coming here before. The winner ofcourse was the cocum juice provid d along with any form of food.
