Surprisingly good South Indian food in the North east. A unique part of the menu is the Special masala dosa that contains dry fruits which add a taste of sweet and crisp is a must try if you’re a fan of dry fruits.

Surprised to see a Madras Cafe on the northern most part of the Country. The cafe is located in busy Police Bazar of Shillong. I had my dinner here. Ordered plain dosa, rawa dosa and masala dosa and all are good. But the service is very slow and there are no enough bearers to cater. The management can look into this. Otherwise the cafe is good.

Undoubtedly this is one of the best South Indian restaurants in Shillong. Their foods are really amazing and authentic. Tried their dosa, wraps, butter Chicken, panner butter Masala, lassi etc. Every food were on point. Especially their kabab items were mouth watering. It's a must try place for the one who loves South Indian cuisines. The restaurant is spacious and also the behavior of the staffs were really great and welcoming.

This is a South Indian restaurant in Police Bazaar. Possibly, the only one serving authentic Dosas & such in Shillong. We went in on a Sunday morning & had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant is on the first & second floors, but the second floor was not yet ready to receive customers, leading to our wait. The place is well laid out, although the entrance is small & gives you a wrong impression of the place. We had masala dosas (@159/-) & Sambar vada (@149/-). The Dosas were good with the red chutney & the pudina chutneys being good. The sambar was not good, as per me, but then sambar's vary from State to State and theirs no common standard for the same! The vada tasted of oil, but had the same sambar & chutneys as accompaniments. The ambience was good. The wash area was clean with soap & a tissue dispenser. The water was hot. Didn't get to use the toilet though. Met the owners who set up the place, almost thirty years ago. Surely a smart move, considering it's location.

The food was pretty good for a South Indian restaurant in Shillong though it serves other cuisines too. Recommend: plain dosa, vada and idlies. It had non veg dosas too but didnt try. Perfect for breakfast specially on Sundays when most commercial places are closed in Police Bazar before 9 am. Service is good and place is clean and pretty standard. Prices are standard (rs. 149 for 1 plate Idli of 3 pcs or 1 plate vada of 2 pcs)

The Indian food serve here is delicious. The richness of their dishes are beyond compare. The price are a bit costly but doesn't matter to me much because the food is great. Butter Nan is my favorite here. Can't wait to dine in again.

One of the amazing restaurants we have ever visited. A small path leads to wonderful experience. Ambience, food, service what not. Whoever comes to Shillong don't miss to visit n taste the food at Namma Chennai Cafe. Awesome taste. First day we were in this cafe for dinner after annoying traffic. But anything good in life need to struggle n get and it is absolutely true. Hats off to the owner namma chennai dude and kudos to all the employees....

If you ever happen to crave for excellent South Indian Dishes in the Northeast, I would recommend Madras Cafe to be the best option considered.. The prices are quite decent, ambience simple and the food and staff are 6star. You would simply fall in love with this place. Highly recommended. Located just opposite to the MSTC Busstop Police Bazar, you can easily find it but it is at the basement. But the food will assure it's worth.

Two floored restaurant, I haven't tasted all the dishes. Mushroom fried rice is awesome. One can try that. No live fruit juices available here. Suggested for family who have kids. Entrance is very narrow, steep staircase leads to the restaurant.

This place looks beautiful. The ambience is good. The staff is very helpful and attentive. Food preparation time is less than average. Food quality is above average. The quantity of food is average. The taste of the food is good. You won't be disappointed for eating here. Beverage options are tasty but a bit costly. Dosa is their one of the best dishes. Paneer and cheese masala dosa are a must try here.

Now this madras cafe is with Qzine. It has wonderful veg and non veg options. Paneer zafrani was excellent. In main course Nizami handi was finger licking. South Indian dises were also tasty. Most important staff is supporting. Overall it was excellent place to dine in with family and that too very economical. In addition to my previous visits, I found that South Indian dishes are also finger licking. One should try.
