I really love the sidus and dham here. They serve 3 types of sidus:posht mitha, posht namkeen and maash and on alternate days they serve Kangri and Mandyali Dham. Kangri and posht Sidu being my favorite. After the meal, Chai is a must have. It is original taste of Himachal food n would highly recommend it on your visit to shimla.
Coming to shimla and missing its traditional Himachali cuisine at this place, is quite a miss!
Genuine traditional siddus and dham are to die for! A must visit... at an affordable price
If uv come to shimla..u hav to eat here ...authentic himachali dhaam with all the typical veg food offerings of himachali regions like kangri n mandiyaali dhaams with nice accompaniments...a must tick on it shimla visit
If you are visiting himachal for the first time you should really try this place... Amazing place to enjoy himachali taste of food with aroma of hills altogether.
Really loved the food n place too. The rates are too convincing in comparison to the satisfaction to the taste buds
A must place to visit if you are in Shimla, authentic himachali food with great quality and service
Excellent ambience, service and food. Must go place if you have only 1 meal to do in Simla!
Must visit place, great food ,himachali taste served with love
Authentic himachali food.. reminisced childhood days :) Loved Kangri thali and sweet siddu ...
Very innovative.
The taste was perfect as it should be of himachli food.
Great concept to maintain the culture of himachal.
i can now run from my hostel to shimla instead of my village to taste the dham and siddus.
KEEP IT UP.
This place has a beautiful ambience, and the food is served with love.
I like the simple homemade thali they have in menu, if you visit shimlA , do try this place.

I have no clue how this place has a 3.3 rating. This is definitely the best meal I have had in 5 days up north. That includes Kasauli, Shimla and Chandigarh. The place is located near Mall Road Shimla. Take the flight of stairs right of United colours of Benetton. It’s about 30 stairs down and few steps to the right there after.
The ambiance is perfect for the cold weather. It’s a small cozy wooden interior place and serves just 8-10 items on the menu. Have to the try the Dham here. It was amazing. Every one of the 5 gravies was devine - the sweetish kadi, the too too good special katti meethi pumpkin, the rajma Madhira, the black daal and the Palak saag with a gatta!!! Man it was just too good.
A must try if you are in Shimla!!! Amazing, authentic and yummmmmmmm!!!!
What a lovely experience at Himachal Rasoi. It’s a small place but the ambience and interiors are very nicely done. Service was so good and the food is authentic Himachali and sooooo nice!! I had the thali with five different veggies/dals and rice. We also had the sweet lassi which by far is the best sweet lassi I have ever had!
Definitely recommend you go and try the food to complete your Himachal experience.
The food is very authentic. Must try if you are there in Shimla. Warm and amiable staff. Very different Himachali cuisine
A hidden gem on mall road. Great food and services. Best himachali food ever tasted and specially the sweetdish - Bondi and dry sweet. Yummy! Woukd highly appreciate this place. Cheers!
A very interesting authentic cuisine place with a cosy (read not much space) atmosphere. The place offers one type of thali every day plus 2-3 other snack options. Delicious, mainly daal based.
amazing authentic himachali food.great ambience and great vibe.a must visit place.has floor sitting for an authentic experience.really loved the thali and sidu of this place.
Peaceful quiet place. Very fresh and healthy food. The much mentioned Sidu (freshly stuffed dumpling) is a must try; the sweet one is only moderately sweet. Perfect. Yum.
The best place I found in Shimla. They had served delicious himachali food with very reasonable rates. This was my first experience for chickpeas cooked in Yogurt and many more different food items. Keep it up.
If you are up to trying on to some authentic Himachali cuisine, this place is for you. Surprisingly vegetarian, the thalis here are perfectly made to satisfy all your tastebuds. You will find all the possible Himachali flavours in your platter.
Must try: Sidhu, a steam baked Himachali bread dish with filling. And Kangra chai, a herbal tea which helps you down the entire feast laid out in front of you!
It's a yes place to try authentic food from himachal. Loved the cozy ambience and service. Over all hygienic and tasty food for foodies. Will recommend those who want to try local flavours.
Good food with courteous staff. Wish this place was more easily accessible and more branches existed. Sidu was worth the wait while i enjoyed the Kangra Cha. The thali is a must try for every visitor to the region
Not easy to find, this quaint little eatery is just a hole in the wall with simple rustic decor. The food is completely wow! They promise a selection of traditional Himachal curries and 1sweet dish served with rice in the Dham thalis. The platter and the curries in it vary according to the day of the week. I was fortunate to try the Kangri Dham thali. Each bowl: black moong, chana dal, rajma and chickpea tasted a bomb. One had the curd based tangy gravy, the other had a smoky aftertaste....I nearly finished all the rice they had given me which is proof to how gluttonously I enjoyed my meal. I can write another two paragraphs on the bowl of boondi in the saunf and saffron syrup which was part of the thali. A must visit when in Shimla.
Nice Ambience.. Dark cozy.. All wooden furniture.. Loved it.
Wanna try authentic Himachali food? Visit this place and try Dham thalis. Also must try.. PATANDE WITH Jaggery and ghee.
Let's break it down:
Sevice: it was fast. It took only 5 minutes for serving the thali
Ambience and interior: ambience was good. On interior side also it was good however it's a very small place
Price: it was justfied everything was prepared good
Overall I will recommend this place for local food with great taste
Reason for 5 star is the authentic food they served
For 300-400 rupees, you are served a great quantity of rice, with a side of Boondi and dry fruits raita, Madra (made from kabuli channa), mahni (made from black gram), channa Dal and mah Dal (made from black lentil). We also ordered the spicy warm buttermilk - turned out to be kadhi! Very yummy food!
The restaurant itself is quite small and located in a small gully - very easy to miss. The service was quick.
It was an “uphill” task to reach this restaurant. Yeah! Had to walk a lot and climb a lot. But the thali was worth the effort. Every item was cooked in ghee. Though 2 out 4 dals didn’t suit my taste bud, I enjoyed the thali and dining experience on the whole. Ambiance was also good. A small restaurant though. I also bought a Himachali cap here. As I am rice lover, I enjoyed this meal(rice based thali/no roti). Worth a visit!
I have been there with my wife and kid . It a small place and most likely you are going to miss this on first occasion. They have two sitting options one with table and chair and other with sitting on floor with mattresses. The food was very nice and without garlic and onion.
Last week while visiting Shimla , I have come across with this tiny little place called Himachali Rasoi. The one and only place in Shimla which offers himachali traditional cuisine. Loved the place and food. We tried their Patande, a simple wheat flour crepe with lots of Desi Ghee and jaggery.
It's a humble restaurant which serves authentic Himachali veg food with the same love as a guest visiting their family. It is a must try to taste the soulful food which is the core of the culture.

This is a small, cozy place in Middle bazaar.. just adjoining the mall road: food court.
The place serves a bit costly but tasty himachali food.
You can have an unlimited meal thali for 300INR, and a sharable half thali for Rs240, but that has only rice with dal, chana, chole, and rice.
The food had great spices and we felt the Himachali touch.
Also ordered Sidu which is a must try (both sweet and salty ones).
This is similar to Chinese steamed bao or bun with a stuffing of khus primarily, and is tasty 😋
Another 'Not to miss' rare delicacy is 'Roharu' which they call a warm lassi, but I felt it was closest to maharashtrian kadhi. This dish has got the ability to save your throat from catching a cough in the cold weather Shimla possesses. You must try this along as you visit.
Thanks Himachali Rasoi and will visit again.
Absolutely Peaceful Atmosphere, Delicious Food, courteous service. Must Must Visit Restaurant to enjoy authentic Himachali food prepared without onion & Garlic. Do try freshly prepared Sidu.
Visited Himachali Rasoi after discovering it on Google. Tried their local Himachal thali, which included five different daals, including a sweet one, served with rice. The food quality and taste were excellent, truly a delightful taste of Himachal. However, it's worth noting that the prices are a bit on the higher side. Overall, a tasty culinary journey through Himachal's flavors." 🍛🏔️😋
My favourite was "Kadhi".
Nice restaurant to provide authentic Himalayan Cuisine. Their thalis are good.
We tried Mandyali Dham Thali (half), Sweet Sidu, Savoury Babroo, Rehru and Kangri Chai.
Thali was quite good which had flavours for all types of palate. Dry fruits pumpkin chutney was my favourite. Those not having sweet tooth would like other dishes on that thali.
Sweet Sidu had a good filling. I personally didn’t like the outer layer which was quite thick.
Babroo was something new to try and I liked that.
Rehru was totally different type of lassi, it was warm and towards spicy. But was quite good to taste. Must try I can say, if you like lassi/butter milk.
Herbal tea was similar to other tea.
Hope this helps in choosing your meals!!
Want to try Himachali food in Shimla? Then you must go to this place. Located in the Middle bazar, this place serves you authentic Himachali food in a very traditional way. They have only two option in thali, Kangridham Thali and Mandyali Dham Thali which have their own perticular a days to be served. We went there on a Thursday so we had the Mandyali Dham Thali. The food was really lip smacking. As I have tried authentic Himachali food earlier I knew a little bit of the dishes they served us and they were all made with great cooking expertise. The lassi with Gur was cherry on top.
This tiny restaurant (it has five tables, each seating four) is very bare-bones, with simple wooden furniture, small Himachali paintings on the white-washed walls, and a menu that’s more or less fixed. They do offer a few à la carte items, such as chai, lassi, and sidu (a steamed stuffed Himachali bun), but the core of the menu is two thalis: a Kangri one, and a Mandyali one, both featuring rice, a selection of traditional vegetarian Himachali dishes, and a sweet. Depending on what day you visit, you can order the thali on offer: the Kangri thali (which has four items, all lentil/chickpea-based) is available on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Mandyali thali, available on the remaining days of the week, includes two lentil dishes, one pumpkin dish, and another dish with spinach.
You can order the day’s thali either as a full one (for Rs 300), in which case you get an unlimited thali; or a half (for Rs 240), with a standard portion size for everything. We ordered two half-thalis of Kangri, and enjoyed it a lot: the food was delicious, not too spicy or too greasy, and at less than Rs 500 for two people, it’s very good value for money too.
Tucked away in middle bazar of Shimla. This is a very cosy little restaurant. It serves typical Himachali cuisine. The food is excellent and served piping hot. The food is served per thali which costs 320 for full and 240 for half. The full thali comes with unlimited refills and half with fixed food. On Monday, Tuesday, Saturday,Sunday they serve Kangri Dam thali and rest of the days Mandyali Dham thali. The restaurant interiors are made from wood and hives a beautiful look to the restaurant. It also has an attic here the seats are low and you almost sit on floor. Ground floor has four tables and could seat 4 person on each table. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Service is fast and prompt. The place is clean. They also serve famous Siddhu. Its savoury as well as sweet. Served with ghee. One of the most famous and popular restaurant of Shimla.
The restaurant is the only one we could find that serves all the Himachali dishes at one place. Its menu has many Himachali dishes and also an unlimited thali option.
We tried the Sidu there. The steamed wheat bun was tasty and savoury. The maash inside it was rich and had good flavours.
The service is nice with the guys asking if we need anything. Also provided warm water on request.
We sat in the upper area where there are mats and low tables for ground sitting. The restaurant is small in size and the atmosphere can be more decorative and lively with a Himachali theme.
A place to be if you want to enjoy Himachal cuisine, their Dham thalis are best!
